That's what high performance is to me, the ability to adapt rapidly so you can achieve your potential. There are five key pillars to creating the conditions for adaptability: sleep, exercise, mental resilience, nutrition, and community/relationships.” - Dr. Erik Korem   “I maybe have a different concept on leadership. To me, leading is a verb. If you're leading, you're a leader. If you're swimming you're a swimmer, if you're driving you're a driver. If you're leading you're by definition a leader. I define leading as being looked to in a particular moment to make a decision or perform an action based on your unique gifts and abilities. So by that definition, everybody is a leader. All rank and role really describe is how many people are hoping you get it right when it's your turn to wear the weight.” - Clint Bruce "Attention is the currency of performance." - Dr. Peter Haberl “That's what I've discovered in the lives of brilliant, prolific, healthy creatives, is that they have networks of people they leverage in the course of their work. That they learn from, that they were challenged by, that they gave great insight and purview into their own life and work, in such a way that they were able to receive feedback that helped them get better at what they do.” - Todd Henry "Restful and fulfilling sleep enables you to grow, adapt, and thrive. It creates the conditions for adaptation, so you can pursue audacious goals and thrive in uncertainty." - Dr. Erik Korem "Most exercise programs fail, not because the reps and sets are poorly designed, but because the program doesn't adjust for how much stress your body can adapt to that day!. That's why Dr. Chris Morris' research and practical application of fluid periodization is the key for unlocking your performance potential." - Dr. Erik Korem See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Exira-EHK Spartans followed a familiar script to advance to the Class 1A State Semifinals; build a halftime lead, let it slip away in the third, and then finish strong. Exira-EHK grabbed a 60-55 win over MMCRU on Wednesday evening in Des Moines. The Spartans fell behind 6-0 out of the gate but answered with a 7-0 to grab a lead. MMCRU led 10-9 at the end of the first. Sparty then went on a late 8-0 run to lead 30-21 at halftime. Shay Burmeister hit back to back threes in that stretch to gain the edge. Burmeister talked about being confident in the moment. https://www.kjan.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/BurmeisterMMCRU1.mp3 MMCRU rallied back in the third quarter, outscoring the Spartans 24-13 in the frame. The Royals took a two point lead into the fourth and then Quinn Grubbs took over. The outstanding sophomore scored 12 of her game high 25 points in the fourth. The biggest shot perhaps was a tie-breaking three midway through the fourth that gave the Spartans a 52-49 lead that they would not relent. The Spartans got to the foul line and hit 6 of 9 down the stretch to grab the win. Exira-EHK Head Coach Tom Petersen said the team just continues to deliver. https://www.kjan.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/PetersenMMCRU1.mp3 Aside from Grubbs the Spartans had three other players in double figures. Burmeister with 14, Mollie Rasmussen 11, and Macy Emgarten 10. The Spartans improve to an impressive 24-0 on the season and advance to the 1A Semifinals. They will take on top-seeded Bishop Garrigan on Friday afternoon. Coach Petersen continues to be in awe of this small but mighty team. https://www.kjan.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/PetersenMMCRU2.mp3 MMCRU was led by 20 points from junior Emily Dreckman and 17 from fellow junior Ellie Hilbrands. Would it be a good move for the Hawks to look at Clowney? Dick weighs in after missing his chance last week. Most people think the Hawks will be a 9-7 or 10-6 team, but are they more likely to be better, or worse. There's a lot of unanswered questions on this team that could push them in either direction. Terry Hollimon is filling in for the vacationing Dick Fain this afternoon. Word came out that Washington has blocked Colson Yankofffrom being eligible to play for UCLA. This isn't a huge surprise given Coach Petersen's feelings on transfers. What is the ultimate goal for the 2019 Husky season? Obviously, a national championship would be the real goal, but let's be a little more realistic. The goal this year is to beat one of the next-level elite teams, whether it's in a Final Four game, or in another bowl game. Softy caught up with tight end Nick Vannett at the VMAC this afternoon. What does this Seahawks offense look like when it's firing on all cylinders?

Sometimes it doesn't take much for a fanbase to freak out. Are Dawg fans panicking over the lack of an official declaration of a starting quarterback. Obviously the assumption is Eason, but Coach Petersen isn't ready to make that call for one reason or another. Are we okay with Petersen's choice to not make the call here? Do we have enough confidence in his decision making? Today's Seahawks Topic of the Day: Will this be a breakthrough year for either of the Hawks' starting corners? Pete Carroll commented on Ansah earlier today. He continues to show confidence that he'll be ready by the regular season. Maybe this is his way of giving Ansah a little nudge. Softy caught up with George Fant at the VMAC today. Was his kid really out there signing autographs?

Today was the second signing day of the season, and the Dawgs have picked up a couple of big recruits; Asa Turner and Daniel Heimuli. Dick was concerned when Petersen was hired that he might not be able to pull top West Coast recruits to Washington. It appears at this point that those concerns were unfounded. Coach Petersen himself joins the show to talk about the recruiting class, what was learned from the Rose Bowl, expectations for next season, and more. What can we reasonably expect from Jacob Eason. Some are already putting him in the first round of next year's NFL Draft, and that's not just Dawg fans.

It came down to the wire, and a call that was debatable, but the Huskies got the win in Eugene last night, beating the Ducks on the road for the first time since 2010. They're now 6-0 in the Pac-12. Football is over, baseball is still a little bit off; should we be spending more time on Husky basketball? Are you jumping on the wagon, and is this the team Husky fans have been waiting for? Husky legend Byron Murphy is headed to the NFL after a successful career at Washington. He tells us when he knew it was time to make the move, what it means to have Coach Petersen's support, and what the secondary will look like next season on Montlake.
