Amen. Dieu vous bénisse ! Pasteur A. Ansah
You will account for the lives of your children during judgement day. Make it a point to check on your wards. Don't blame your negligence of them on the economy. It is your utmost duty to ensure that they are safe. Training your wards well sends a good message of who you are. This task should be done with prayers, communication and a good advice.

Welcome to Grit & Growth's masterclass on downsizing with Esi Ansah, executive director of the Center for Leadership at Ashesi University and founder of Axis Human Capital, an organizational development consulting firm. From managing team morale to ensuring your downsizing plan is data driven, Ansah provides a clear blueprint for leaders facing tough HR decisions.Without a doubt, downsizing is one of the most dreaded tasks – for CEOs and employees alike. Which is why Esi Ansah tries to prepare leaders to handle it with clarity, effective communication, and compassion. And she also reminds small to medium-size businesses that, regardless of size, every company needs to have policies and plans to deal with downsizing.Key Takeaways Gather data – before you even think about downsizing“The most common mistake is the lack of data documentation. It always comes back to bite you. When you need to downsize, you need to justify every decision that you make.”Honesty can be the hardest part of downsizing“Sometimes it shocks people because they didn't see it coming, and they didn't see it coming because perhaps the leader in that organization did not articulate it clearly enough or, in the bid to avoid causing fear and panic, they actually avoid telling people the full truth.” Communicating bad news requires data, transparency, empathy, and support“One of the best things you can do, especially for SMEs, is: don't wait till all the decisions have been made and then, bam, you just release the information. Once you get a sense of whatever change in your circumstances is driving the need for downsizing, start with just sending out a couple of feelers and, you know, soft communication.”Always follow your local labor laws“If you skip any of those loops and an unhappy employee wakes up to the reality that, hey, I don't think I'm being treated fairly, and then off they go – sometimes without coming back to you to say, look, I realize that you've skipped some steps here. They go straight to the labor commission. And then once they call you in, that's not pleasant.”CEOs shouldn't offload everything to HR“Visibility of leaders is extremely important in a time like this. The last thing you want is HR feeling already overburdened and probably handling all the pressure that comes from the team. But when you have a CEO who would go around, you know, walk the floor, talk to people, and where there's anything that he can do, you know, he does it and he makes it very visible.”Communicate your vision for AFTER the downsizing“If you focus on the reason why you're downsizing and you don't focus on what you are evolving to do differently, you will have people who see the doom and gloom and there's really nothing that inspires them about the future. That's dangerous. You lose more people that way.”Listen to Esi Ansah's advice on how to identify –— and, more critically, avoid – the most common pitfalls of downsizing. Learn how clear policies and transparent communication can help minimize messy post-layoff negotiations and allow leaders to focus on supporting laid-off employees through the transition, as well as those who stay.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Greetings Glocal Citizens! This week on the podcast I'm taking you along with me on one of the stops on my winter tour in the US. Last month my travels took me to Missoula, Montana for the state rivalry game to see my nephew's team, the University of Montana Grizzlies (https://gogriz.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/jonathan-brown/6563) taking on Montana State. The Grizzlies were unable to overcome their rivals, but all was not lost. I met a fellow Ghanaian, Gabriel Ansah and his family and through this interview I get to share yet another glocal perspective on living, working and playing in a home away from “home.” Gabriel Ansah is a fitness trainer and proud owner of 406AMCREW, a brand promoting positivity through fitness. Gabriel spent the first 17 years of his life in his native Tema, Ghana before traveling to the United States for a high school exchange program in Missoula where he currently resides with his wife and two sons. After graduating from the University of Montana where studied management information systems, he discovered that his true passion was in the pursuit of fitness and motivating others to achieve their fitness goals. While leading the 406AMCREW, Gabe is also part of the coaching staff for local soccer team Missoula Surf. He's the director of player development for the club and the coach of its U9 team. In the summer of 2022, he also joined the University of Montana soccer coaching staff. As a Lululemon Ambassador, Gabe is able to extend his reach into communities as a representative of the brand, helping to build a community of like-minded individuals who share the company's values and vision for a healthy and active lifestyle. Be sure to listen in and learn how this partnership with Lululemon afforded Gabe the opportunity to give back in a big way to his community in Tema last December. Where to find Gabe? Season 2 Episode 4: AUTHENTICALLY PURPOSED“I'm a mother, I'm a wife, I'm a business owner… I wear a lot of hats. But… everything that I do, I pour myself into… I am fully present in all the roles that I play.”“Being authentic means that you are expressing who you really are.” “I'm just availing myself to do what I've been called to do. And that is what gives me fulfillment, that is what I define as success.”- Julie Baidoe-AnsahJulie Baidoe-Ansah, the founder and Image & Style Matters and the creative director of the “Efata By JUBA” clothing line, is a woman driven by Authenticity and Purpose. She describes her purpose as “to help women ascertain who they are, to their clothing choice. To encourage women to be themselves, and to be authentic in their personal branding.” In this inspiring conversation, Julie Baidoe-Ansah shares her strategies for being purposeful and authentic in her pursuit of accomplishing her God-given assignments. On Planning: “Without a plan, you set yourself up for failure. Write a plan, because that is what keeps you on course. If you don't have a plan, you will not be able to assess yourself, or to appreciate your progress. If you don't have a plan, you will follow other people's plans. And that could take you further away from your purpose.”On the power of Journaling: “In Habakkuk 2:2, it says write down the vision; write it on tablets… In writing and keeping a journal, you write down the vision [and] there'll be a download. When you start writing, He said that a Herald will run with it. “A Herald will run with it”, means that something is going to go ahead of you. It is your angels, your ministering angels. You will have angels at your disposal. You're supposed to give them stuff to do!” “Purpose… is the thing that you've been created to do. Now, if you've been created to do something, you need to go to the Person that created you, to find out what you've been created for.” “Have an anchor scripture; you have to have certain verses in the Bible or certain chapters or certain characters in the Bible that you resonate with. Are you an Esther? Are you an Abigail? You need to know who you are. And when you know that, your purpose will be revealed. And you know what? That purpose will be achieved!” “In Joshua 21: 45, it says, “Everything that was spoken about the House of Israel came to pass. So, if you believe that everything that God has said about you will come to pass, you need to know what God has said about you! What are your promises [in the Word of God]. You need to find those promises!”“With my business, I have a covenant day [each week], that I spend at the feet of God. So, on that day, I spend praying for my business, praying for what's God wants me to do in this time and season…”Contact Julie Baidoe-Ansah on efatabyjuba.com, and follow her “EfatabyJuba” pages on Facebook and Instagram Join the "RE-BOOT Your Life" waitlist - Transformational Conversations for Purpose-driven, Impact-focused, Legacy-minded Women Over 40https://mailchi.mp/3cba658d11d7/reboot-workshop-with-aba-cato-andahBuy my book “Reflections of a Hopemonger” on Amazon:https://www.amazon.com/Reflections-Hopemonger-Aba-Cato-Andah/dp/9988902301(Music from Uppbeat (free for Creators!):https://uppbeat.io/t/soundroll/tropicanaLicense code: XXYQFLS38QOMOPZO)
