He has given the history on the area in his book, Fractured Freedoms: Reconstruction in Central Louisiana. “Fractured Freedoms is a riveting history of central Louisiana from the 1860s to the 1890s, focusing on majority-Black Rapides Parish during Reconstruction. Using the region as a case study, Ballantyne reveals what is, in part, a rural Reconstruction success story, emphasizing the resilience of Black politics and the persistence of significant divisions among white residents that allowed the Republican Party to gain and maintain power there. It was only with the collapse of state-level Republican power in 1877 that Democratic forces in the parish were able to dismantle local Republican political control and gradually constrict Black freedoms" (LSU Press). Bedrijven en de overheid zetten consumenten neer als 'net-zero heroes' in de strijd tegen klimaatverandering. Dat blijkt uit onderzoek van Tom van Laer, Associate Professor in Narratologie aan de University of Sydney. Hij ziet dat deze aanpak inspirerend werkt, maar ook dat dit een onrealistische druk legt op individuen. De sector zelf blijft ondertussen achter met het doorvoeren van noodzakelijke veranderingen.

Inflasie kry normaalweg almal se aandag maar, daar is ‘n uiters belangrike kwessie wat verbruikers miskyk. Laer inflasie beteken nie laer pryse nie. Inflasie meet die tempo waarteen pryse styg, nie die daling in pryse nie, en daarom bly voedselpryse byvoorbeeld hoog, al daal inflasie. Cirrus-ekonoom Robert McGregor verduidelik die konsep aan Kosmos 94.1 Nuus.

Tom van Laer, Associate Professor in Narratologie (verhaal theorie) aan de University of Sydney deed onlangs onderzoek naar hoe de Australische energiesector het Net-Zero verhaal verkoopt aan de consument. En wat blijkt? Bedrijven en de overheid zetten de consumenten neer als 'net-zero heroes' in de strijd tegen klimaatverandering. Intussen het die olieprys in Namibiese dollar-terme tot sy laagste vlak gedaal sedert Desember 2021, tot 1 231 rand per vat. Die nuutste vleispryse van die Lewendehawe- en Lewendehaweprodukte-raad is uit en toon dat pryse effe daal. Die hoof van bemarking by die raad Desmond Cloete het met Kosmos 94.1 Nuus gesels oor die algemene tendense en hy lig 'n bekommernis uit.

Die Bank van Namibië het vandeesweek die repokoers met 25 basispunte verlaag na 6,5 persent. Dit was die eerste rentekoersverlaging sedert die verhogingsiklus in Junie 2022 begin het, en die repokoers in Namibië is nou 75 basispunte laer as in Suid-Afrika. Cenored het in reaksie hierop aangekondig dat sy tariefverhoging wat op 1 Julie geïmplementeer is, geskrap sal word.
