Can you relate to feeling angry, exhausted, overwhelmed? I'm betting every parent has! And maybe you've even lost it on your kids or your partner. Cue the shame spiral. We've truly all been there, but we can't let our shame get the best of us! On this episode, I have the pleasure of talking about all things overwhelmed, angry, and exhausted with Emily Hughes, a Conscious Parent Coach, Somatic Therapist, and mom of two. She and I both share pretty vulnerable stories about times we've had all-out-rage just take over. Again, cue shame spiral. Like I said, we've ALL been there! Here is the good part! Emily and I dig into not only when this happens, but why. She shares all about the role of shame and how it could be contributing to anger and reactivity in your parenting. And she also shares how we can get back into our bodies in these moments to begin to break that cycle. Emily also explains how getting clear on your values might explain some of the anger you are experiencing.  This is a great conversion for anyone who feels stuck in their angry, exhausted, and overwhelmed state and wants to get unstuck. And I walked away feeling so much more seen and understood, and much less alone in some of those tough emotions. You can connect with Emily for more support or you can reach out to me! In this episode, Caitlin explains that when it comes to how we are as parents, Conscious Parenting is the WHY and Positive Discipline is the HOW. Caitlin and I get the chance to dig into how the approaches of Conscious Parenting and Positive Discipline go hand-in-hand. Caitlin touches on how these approaches can strengthen the relationships and truly make and repair connections with our kids. Conscious parenting is going to help us understand our reactions and our triggers. And the best part is that Caitlin describes how to really apply these approaches in the moment, through the ups and downs of a day, and how to connect with ourselves in that moment too. Caitlin shares a multi-step strategy to work through your internal triggers ––since Conscious Parenting is highly focused on healing our parental reactivity, which then allows us to access our Positive Discipline tools more easily..  She gives details on each of these five steps:  Step 1: Think of a new (realistic) response Step 2: Visualize the triggering event Step 3: Notice your trigger response & let it take over (within your visualization) Step 4: Acknowledge, validate, and appreciate the response Step 5: Practice your new response Find Caitlin on Instagram: @rasingparentscoaching and sign up for Caitlin's monthly newsletter and download her free reparenting worksheet on her website: raisingparentscoaches.com To learn more about The Heartful Parent Academy and all that the support I can offer through The Heartful Parent Collective, visit my website: theheartfulparent.com.

Nina Cruz is a certified Conscious Parent Coach, Social Worker (BSW), and Meditation Teacher who's made it her mission to support parents through shifting archaic parental paradigms, many of which contribute to increased stress, anxiety, overwhelm, and feelings of disconnection for themselves, their partners, and their children. Her approach to coaching revolves around trauma-informed care that puts others at-ease, providing a safe space for everyone to facilitate their individual healing and growth.Nina knows that when a parent's inner world shifts, the whole family shifts with them in extraordinary ways, changing parent-child dynamics that foster relationships of love, harmony, and genuine familial connection. Families that gain a new sense of awareness through knowledge and understanding of their own narratives effectively create a new blueprint for themselves—this is why one of Nina's many passions is encouraging parents to do their own Inner Work so they can experience more freedom and joy while balancing everything life has to throw at them.In addition to incorporating meditation and mindfulness practices into her work, Nina also organizes online and in-person parent networking events, where parents of all walks of life share and revel in their successes, failures, and self-improvement journeys. Nina leads these events so her attendees can become Creators of their lives and attract more of what they desire by aligning with Universal Laws.“I have to say how clear it is that Nina is a gentle, intuitive, and highly empathic coach; this is her greatest gift. She is a force of nature that puts others at ease. Nina is an excellent coach and has a deep, solid understanding of conscious parenting...she has great gifts to share with the world.” -Dr. Shefali Tsabary

“We have the power to create the environment, create the space and get curious about what's really going on.” Nina Cruz Practicing mindfulness while making parenting decisions, can go along way in ensuring better connections and relationships between parents and their children. Our guest today Nina Cruz, has been helping parents understand and cope better with parenting challenges, and says it is all about focusing on learning self rather than being fixated on molding the child your way. Nina leads these events so her attendees can become Creators of their lives and attract more of what they desire by aligning with Universal Laws. In today's episode, Nina discusses the concept of conscious parenting and why it is important not only to children and parents, but the society as a whole. Listen in! Socials: Facebook: /ninacruzconsciouscoaching Instagram: @ninacruzcoach I coach parents and support them to find and build more connections with their children by helping them to look at their own patterns and paradigms. [3:42] Behavior is the tip of the iceberg, what goes on beneath the surface is something different and a lot of this stems from childhood. [4:14] It is very hard to look in the mirror and so I support parents to do that in a real comforting way. [5:53] By shifting, you change your legacy, the trajectory of your children's children, and it basically changes the world. [6:50] A lot of the times we're parenting out of ego but basically no one wins, because you meet your child with resistance and they've got resistance too because of ego. [10:04] It is learning, unlearning and a new way of looking at your child as your teacher and that the child before you is actually growing you up. [10:17] By looking at parenting through the lens of my child is teaching me, it no longer becomes about blaming and shaming the child, but taking your power back as a parent. [10:30] Parenting is about growing you up, and not the child before you. [12:24] The child is perfect and we need to step back and get out of the way and not try and mold and shape them into who they need to become. [12:27] It is a whole different way of experiencing and looking at parenting, and that's why it's so transformational. [12:50] Our children are amazing at showing us where we are out of alignment. [13:30] When you have parents that are very strict, and there's fear-based parenting, children go under and hide things. [18:34] We have the power to create the environment and create the space and get curious about what's really going on. [18:55] Commercial break. [19:58] Your child is going to do what you do because they're picking up your energy. [23:24] We all have our mess ups but we need to learn from it. [25:47] The first great lesson I have learnt in my entrepreneurial journey is to trust the process and trusting myself. [27:06] It is incredible when you come from that intention of what you're wanting to create and not from a strategy that you told to do. [28:33] In terms of manifesting what you want in your life, our subconscious mind is what triggers the law of attraction, and manifestation, and we need to be in the vibration of what we're trying to create. [29:12] If you want to create, you need to step into the energy of what you're creating, and that opens up ideas and synchronicities. [30:28] The more you can get into that vibration and takeaction from that space, the result would be different. [31:28] If you are a parent, get your priorities set and don't sweat the small stuff. [31:13] You are the director and curator of your own movie, and don't be an extra in your movie but rather get in the driver's seat. As the saying goes, there are no manuals provided when it comes to becoming a parent. Our culture really lets parents down - especially mothers - during the rite of passage which takes us out of our Maidenhood via pregnancy and birth into new Motherhood. The function of a rite of passage is to prepare people to successfully take on the new role and identity successfully. When this isn't done, we are set up for feeling like a failure because we just don't know what to expect, nor how to handle to huge, overwhelming emotions that come with new parenthood.  When we become pregnant, all the education offered zones right in on how to navigate birth - and that's about it. Popular baby showers focus on sharing gifts for the baby. Home-based prep is on getting the right clothes, nursery, and ideal pram. All eyes are on the growing bump, and when the baby is born, all excitement is overwhelmingly abuzz about the sweet new baby. But when we're obsessing over how we raise the baby, who is concerned with raising the Mother? In this episode I had a powerful conversation with Alita Blanchard, who is a mother of 4 young boys (including a stillborn son Remy) on the NSW Central Coast. Alita is a trauma informed Conscious Parent Coach, Emotional Release Coach, Women's Circle and Rites of Passage facilitator, and she is passionate about creating a safe space for mothers to feel heard and seen in the intensity of their motherhood journey. She supports and guides mothers in their transformation through motherhood and helps to bring awareness to their own needs and emotions so they can feel more aligned, aware and connected to themselves and their children. We spoke about:What conscious / aware parenting principles are,How culturally in the West we are and are not prepared and initiated into Motherhood well and what the impacts of this are, Why Mothers need help to be able to process and release emotions so much, Occasions and triggers when Mothers commonly struggle most and what we can do to support ourselves,How Alita's work is so profoundly different to what is widely available and how she guides women to heal their own experiences, and in turn feel like the Mother they desire to be. LINKSYou can find Alita at www.theawaremama.com.au and @alitablanchardspaceJoin Charlotte's free Wild Flow Circle community, and say hi on InstagThanks so much as ever for supporting me to host Wild Flow Podcast!
