In this episode of The Game Deflators Podcast, John and Ryan dig into their latest video game pickups and some of the latest gaming news. They kick off the news week with Pokémon TCG Pocket and its $1 billion milestone—can it maintain its momentum, or is the digital TCG market headed for a shake-up? The conversation then turns to Xbox's future, with a big question looming—could the next generation of Xbox consoles be Microsoft's last? The duo examines industry trends, and the shifting landscape of hardware. Finally, they review Cubivore for the Nintendo GameCube, breaking down its quirky evolution mechanics, survival gameplay, and whether it deserves the $500 price point. We have a long talk about Pokemon, Dragon Quest, and Final Fantasy but eventually we talk about this wonderful gem of a game.
Our guest this week is PC Gamer Senior Editor Wes Fenlon, who talks to us about his career in games media, his newsletter Read Only Memo, and Nintendo during the GameCube/GBA episode. You'll also hear about some of the differences between UK and US games media, and a quick therapy session for Samuel's benefit. A lot of ground is covered in this one – enjoy! This week's music is from Cubivore, probably? Matthew edited this one and didn't say where the music came from – and at the time of writing he's on a train to Belgium, so who really knows. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Cubivore is almost here! It will take place in Downtown LA Friday, March 3 · 8am - 9pm PST. Jonah Bliss joins Harry for an insiders look at Curbivore as we anxiously await its arrival. Jonah Bliss spent his career scaling mobility startups like Turo and Evelo, followed by working in the content and events space. He combined those passions when he started Curbivore and eventually convinced Harry to join him.

Lucky episode number 13 brings you three games all released in the back half of 2002 and all games that were originally intended for the N64! Friend of the show Jed Winters joins us to remind Neil that Rare's final game for Nintendo, Star Fox Adventures, isn't a bad GameCube game per se, it's just not the Star Fox we wanted. We learn about how these games all had shaky launches but ended up being cult classics. Eternal Darkness and its sanity meter bring a new spin to the psychological horror genre that we'd love to see come to Netflix someday, while Cubivore lives up to its reputation as the weirdest, most neglected, and by far most expensive Nintendo IP ever. Stick around until 40:04 to hear Neil attempt to read the back of Star Fox Adventures.
In this week's episode of The Legend of Retro, Craig and Xander really stretch their brains to remember Cubivore: Survival of the Fittest. Listen to Xander talk about how he really digs weird and simple games. Retro Relapse will leave you satisfied, and the RPG Protagonist Battle wraps up round two!
On the latest Cube Fight, Andy and Neal discuss the equivalent of the Michael Jordan Bulls playing against the modern-day 76ers as we tackle the Retro Studios-made Metroid Prime and the GameCube debut of the Mario Party series. While the outcome is known by all (I'd assume), we still do our due diligence and discuss both games, and even throw some bonus Cubivore talk in there as well.
Featuring: Over three hours of JPN gaming goodness!Cubivore, Tokyo Jungle, GON, and many more games are discussed!Other topics include an E3 wrap-up, Nintendo Direct, and a Nintendo history lesson going back to the Famicom Disk System!

This issue of PB & Jason is brought to you by the letters M, V, and C. That's a roundabout way of saying I talk about Marvel vs. Capcom 3 some more in today's podcast. In addition, there's a brief bit about the "Anonymous" troll who chose to talk about my Marvel vs. Capcom 3 review, because why not? The second portion of the podcast contains some talk about how Cubivore could become the ultimate game, followed by a bit more discussion of Dragon Quest VI, including my personal ranking of the DQ games I've played. In this issue of the highly-collectable PB & Jason podcast, we see action, violence, and non-romance! I talk about hunting in Cubivore, the ups, the downs, and what makes the game special. There's mention of hunting down the "Valenslimes Day" release of Dragon Quest VI, and a bit of talk about Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Of course, nearer the beginning there's a few bits of random news, this week, mostly dealing with Sony. Check it all out and enjoy this issue of PB & Jason! Let’s get weird. Justin G joins Justin, Cole, and Ethan to figure out what makes weird games so memorable while trying to avoid alienating Japan entirely. The guys spill their guts this week when Justin, Cole, and Ethan unveil their games of shame. Animal Crossing, Zombie Run, flower, Cubivore, and others come out from the shadows for judgment and to face new and questionable ratings system. Send in your questions to simon@horriblenight.com or @TheHorribleShow Apologies for the audio difficulties and volume levels on this one. Let’s just say we overcompensated. Christina has the week off so the guys try and man up to face their most embarassing games. Ethan and Cole continue their grand tradition of talking through bad movies in our Threesomes of the Week. If that didn’t drive enough listeners away, the On the Spot question wants to know – What types of gamers embarass you? – where things get a bit sweaty and uncomfortable for our Warcraft friends. Let’s get this straight, we love our games of shame and we will keep right on playing them, but let’s face it there has to be a way to make them a little less shameful. Of course, there may be no hope for Ethan who once again thinks it’s ok to run around with zombies in real life. Got a question about why we are defending these games? Hit us up on our new Formspring account and see if you can save us. We are still looking out for you though and give you a few black Friday shopping tips before we escape to our food coma for the rest of the week.
