Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney ... God taught me to hear HIM by HIS HOLY Spirit and to do what the Word said to do by believing it was God speaking to me when it was God. The voice of God is different. I have found it to be pure, peaceable, gentle, easy to be intreated, just as it says in James 3:16. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. I attended a church called, "Word of Faith," in the late 1970's. I thought they were doing that which God taught me to do about faith. I thought they were like me and I was like them. But the teacher of our Bible class said, "You were never like us. We talked about faith. But you lived faith." This Podcast explains what he was saying.
The Command to Love Our Neighbor Extends to the Dead Also! All Souls' Day Reflections and What Jesus Tells Us! Jesus Tells Us What Love Really Is! Its impact on Our Spiritual Life! Love is the very essence of living in communion with God. In today's Gospel, the Lord is asked what is the greatest of commandments. Out of all the commandments, Jesus tells us the two most important. And they both center around Love. We often think love involves only the heart. But Jesus tells us Love involves more than the heart. Hear more within the Homily. Hear what Jesus tells us and what it means within our spiritual life. All Souls Day Reflections As we begin November (Nov. 2nd) we celebrate the Feast of All Souls. We all have experienced a reality – the loss of family members or friends. We have all been saddened by this loss. Based on our own experience, we can have conflicting feelings for those who have gone before us. For some of us, having spent so much time with a loved one who has past, we may feel like we do not know how to move forward. It feels final. The command to love our neighbor extends to the dead too. Not just the living. Listen to this Meditation Media. _______________________________________________________ The Handout referenced within the Homily may be found in a pdf. In a radical deviation from past episodes, the stories in this week’s podcast do not conform to any set theme - the only requirement is that they be strange, unsual, spooky or odd. Can you handle the chaos!? Alissa, of course, pounces on the opportunity to finally share a Near Death Experience (NDE) which involves a rogue psychic reading in a Taco Bell. This reminds her of a time she had her aura read in the bread aisle of a health food store and the outcome defied expectations.Britt continues to milk the paranormal honeypot that is NextDoor and challenges you, dear listeners, to do the same. Her friend Sabrina obliged and shared an extremely enlightening post from her local Nextdoor on how to rid an unwanted spirit from one’s abode. Required materials include crystals, a means to charge one’s crystals, a Ouija board, and as many St. Christopher statues as you can get your hands on.After educating us energy clearing Britt goes on to tell us about Shaun, who moved into an empty house in Austin only to quickly realize he was not likely the only spirit occupying the structure. Totems and troubling symbols found around the entryways only added to the bizarre phenoma that he and others experienced in their new home.Alissa wraps up this potpourri episode with the tale of a child who knows too much. What starts as an innocent comment to his mother leads to much more unsettling experiences involving a surprising prophecy requiring professional intervention. As always, thank you for listening and Haunt Y’all Later!Be sure to check out our new merch shop to help support the podcast and keep this creepfest going!https://www.etsy.com/shop/SkeletalesPodcastWe want to hear your stories! Prepare to be amazed, entertained and enriched because Austin’s very own Dr. Mad Man Maverick is a man of many talents, or, as Alissa would attempt to say, he is a multipotentialite. Maverick is an Expert Guide at Austin Ghost Tours, the Author of The Spirits of 6th Street: Austin’s Most Haunted Path, a magician, a fire eater, an axe thrower, an emcee, a storyteller, a bouncer, and even a tarot card reader. Is there anything this mad man can’t do?!? Well, as Britt and Alissa learned, he does have a wee bit of trouble keeping his mustache intact while swallowing flames - its okay Maverick, nobody’s perfect. You can find Maverick Thursday, Friday and Saturday giving tours for Austin Ghost Tours: https://austinghosttours.com/Starting the first week of April, head over to Sherwood Forest Renaissance Festival and check out his show involving daring magic and enough fire to singe a beard. https://www.sherwoodforestfaire.com/Follow this man of Instagram: @austinghosttours and @madmanmaverickTik Tok: @madmanmaverick (you’ve got to see this kilt dance)Facebook: John Maverick***You may (or may not) notice that the audio quality on this episode is not as clear or pristine as normal due to a glitch with the recording. This week the girls venture over to Britt’s stomping grounds in the Lone Star State to talk about all the spooky stuff happening in Austin Texas.Alissa reveals her new super power of being able to see smells which she discovered by watching @celinespookyboo over at TikTok while she eats a blue snowcone. Sadly this means she no longer can look at her beloved photos of dog poo.The first story takes you into Britt’s very own neighborhood where a classic pioneer style homestead is said to be haunted by a distressed cow. It doesn’t get more Texas than this folks. Our next chilling tale is brought to us by listener Karina who was haunted by a ghost with little spatial awareness, who kept bumping into her while she was working as a bartender on South Congress Avenue at the Copa Lounge. Alissa dives into the history of this building to try to discover who might be lurking around messing with the staff who work there. We learn about the rags to riches story of Cater Joseph, a very successful 14yr old immigrant who ended up in Texas (perhaps by way of South Africa?) to start his thriving businesses, including Joseph’s man shop. A shop that would be perfect for Alissa’s manly hubs, and previous guest of the podcast, Mitch is with his new manly man moustache. Is it Cater haunting his old stomping grounds or perhaps Austin’s first serial killer?Britt then goes on to tell us about a very haunted house in the Old Enfield area of Austin near Pease Mansion. Our story comes from an Austin local who tells of loud banging in the kitchen, antique buttons appearing from thin air, swinging Coke bottles, spooky indoor windstorms, and so much more! We discover that the neighbor also had a ghostly encounter involving a Civil War era soldier. Britt dives into the history of the land which is presumed to be where the old slave quarters were when the land once belonged to governor Elias Pease in the 1850’s.Oh and a resolution was solved about who is right about indention and indentation….we both are! That’s right Alissa, BOTH of us are correct!Keep an eye out for our new Skeletales Merch Shop that will be opening very soon! Oh the cruel irony that this week's episode is about sleepy time spirits when publishing it resulted in a sleepless night for Alissa as she exorcised gremlins from her mac who apparently deemed these tales too terrifying for the world hear. Thankfully, fueled by the power of tech rage, coffee and the placebo effect of ordering all of the adapter cables available on Amazon, she was able to reclaim control of her computer, and release these stories of spooky slumber. One may assume that they are about to embark on an episode full of tales of sleep paralysis, yet only one short anectdote within features that horrifyingly helpless phenomena. Britt shares a tale of non-consensual ghostly snuggles and how her brother, Brian aka Bubba Jubba, trancended into an otherworldly realm where he was met by malevolent specter. She also expands upon her friend Lauren’s paranormal experiences, describing a phenomenon that plagued her for many years and that may help you, dear listeners, understand why she is now too much of a scaredy cat to listen to this ridiculous podcast. Exhaustion related amnesia is rendering it difficult for Alissa to recall exactly what else occurs in this episode, which is serindipitously relavent to the topic at hand. A late night visitor at a Jellystone Campsite, a tragic premonition dream, and a dramatic ESP rescue are just a few more topics that are touched on in this collection of nocturnal occurrences. On one final note, since it was just revealed that Alissa is writing this episode description, she would like to take a moment to let Britt know that the word is, ‘indentation’.As always, thank you for listening and Haunt Y’all Later. We want to hear your stories! The haunted houses in these episodes do have a shape, but somehow, despite descriptions intended to aid your dear hosts in envisioning these dwellings, they remain confounded. What is indesputable is the paranomal activity at work within these amorphous abodes. Our first story follows the saga endured by SkeleTales listener Dan, whose body, ears and soul were tormented by an entity seemingly determined to run him off of the circa 1775 homestead he purchased near Haunted Lake in Southern New Hampshire. A ghostly game of ding dong ditch and an uninvited squeeze of the neck were just harbingers of the misfortune that would befall him in his pre-revolutionary house of horror. Knowing that Britt and Alissa are unable to pass up a harrowing tale of survival, Dan also deftly sneaks a brush with death into his yarn, detailing how he and his little pup Lucy survived the Storm of the Century on Lake Champlain some years back. The next tale serenades you with the sweet sounds of the forgotten ballads of Enya as remembered and very poorly performed by your lovely hosts as Britt retells her friend Lauren’s haunted account. Set in a house of ill-defined proportions in Lousiana, this story begins with the ghostly vison of an evil old woman who hates house cleaners, musicians and apparently, new age celtic melodies. Also awaiting you in this episode is an update on our favorite not so imaginary friend Jada and some practical tips on how one should conduct themselves when encountering a dirt basement floor. As always, thank you for listening and Haunt Y’all Later. We want to hear your stories! Pour yourself a hot toddy, light a fire and settle in while Britt Kilpatrick and Alissa Williams tell you tales from a time when the days are short and the nights are long. Thats right folks, this week the gals are telling wintery tales. Alissa's great-grandfather puts the H.V. into Holiday Vibe with a story of his Santa antics at the old homestead outside of Buffalo, NY. Maybe H.V. could also put the ‘V' in Veteran’s day, which is the day on which, years later, Alissa’s grandmother and cousins try to disipline some disobedient aparations in a nearby cemetary. Britt then blows Alissa’s mind with a text message she received from her fellow Austinite, Juli, whose 3 year old daughter, Elyse, has a new imaginary... or, perhaps not so imaginary, friend, named Jada. Next, an unexpected sequal to a premonition tale involving a curse, an native american medicine women named Mollyockett, a string of fires and Alissa’s attempt at a Maine accent delights the ladies. Britt wraps it up and significantly ups the creep factor while relaying the unexplained happenings that occured in a walk-basement in Iowa on a cold winter’s night. We want to hear your stories! This episode will have you thanking your lucky stars that you can’t travel right now. Pretty much all hotels are haunted by spirits who are itching to creep your holiday right up. Britt introduces us to the ghosts of Samantha Houston and Colonel Jesse Driskill who inhabit the Driskill Hotel in Austin, Texas and who are known to haunt guests and employees alike. The girls then have a good laugh about dead baby paintings before Alissa tells a quick anecdote of her time at the Genessee Valley Club in Rochester, NY which is not at all a hotel, but for some reason, Alissa still thinks it counts. Then, of course, no podcast on hotel hauntings would be complete without a tale or two from the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado. Britt gives an incredibly informative overview of the genesis of The Stanley and its founder, F.O. Stanley, but Alissa is barely listening because she is confounded by how that Rocky Mountain Air could cure Tuberculosis. She manages to re-focus in time to relay the story of a friend who stayed in a spirited room in the Stanley where he was awoken by an entity attempting to make his evening a bit more comfortable. Britt wraps it up with a tale from her friend Kristen who experience some strange phenomena whilst on a ghost tour at the infamous resort. We want to hear your stories! This week the ladies discuss the mysterious and confounding phenomena of premonition, precognition, deva ju, intuition... all the ways people are given glimpses into the future. Britt’s family is all about seeing them future babies and shares a tale of yet another Ben saving her Grandmother from disaster. Alissa is really out to solve the case on this one and it goes as one would expect but does share some interesting theories on the phenomena, including a highly scientific experiment involving nudie mags. She also relays a few premonitory tales including a little girl who wakes in the middle of the night with some devastating knowledge and a friend of the podcast whose dreams repeatedly come to fruition. The girls really pack a lot of stories into this episode; skateboards, motorcycles, castles, migraines, strokes... there is truly something for everybody! We'd like to give a very special should out to Stevo, Bob and Erik at Old Skull Skateboards. In this episode Britt and Alissa both happen to have found stories that occur at idyllic homesteads on opposite sides of the country. Britt’s tale describes the night a dark energy stalked and poorly serenaded her mother Debbie during a visit to MawMaw's house in Splendora, Texas in the 1970s. Was it a ghost? A demon? A vampire? You be the judge. Alissa then reads a story sent in by Katie, a dear listener and friend, who tells of strange experiences at her grandparent’s house at the base of Mt. Watatic in Ashby, Massachusetts. Built in 1750, the gorgeous old home is rumored to have been a stop on the underground railroad and is said to be haunted by a sad old ghost by the name of Mr. Barker, who could use a lesson on social distancing. We want to hear your stories! In this week's episode Britt and Alissa tell tales of the days of yore, of souls who roamed the earth in centuries past, yet whose stories, and spirits, live on. An old timey letter from Alissa’s friend Mandy, the curator of Vintage Scrapbooks and Ephemera over at Paper of the Past, really puts the skeletal into SkeleTales with a disturbingly descriptive account of a macabre Victorian errand.Britt pulls us out of the 1890s creepfest with a delightful tale of her friend Mel getting the bejesus scared out of her by a musical ghost with a staring problem in the Dana Auditorium at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. Mel’s ghost reminds Alissa of a story she read about a short stumpy nurse ghost from an old fever ward and the ladies have a truly ground-breaking revelation that very well may change the paranormal world forever.Do your eyeballs a favor and go follow Mandy and her beautiful collection of Book Time Capsules and Found Art over on Instagram.Paper of the Past: http://www.instagram.com/paperofthepast As always, thank you so much for listening and if you have a story you’d like us to read on the podcast please e-mail it to:skeletalespodcast@gmail.comOr, call us and leave a message!(302) 689-DEAD Also, come join in the fun at our SkeleTales Community on Facebook!www.facebook.com/groups/skeletalesAnd follow us on Instagramwww.instagram.com/skeletalespodcastIf you love this podcast please subscribe, share and review! In this week’s episode Britt ties up some loose ends on the spirits (or jackalopes), that haunted her and her brothers at their home on Rodeo Drive in Denton, Texas. All the talk of roof monsters reminds Alissa of a time where the line between urban legend and reality became blurred thanks to the Kaboony Boy. The crown jewel of this episode comes in the form of a listener story sent all the way from New Zealand, the homeland of Alissa’s fake boyfriend, Flight of the Conchords star, Jemaine Clement. Our listener Helen tells the tale of a pervy evil spirit that tormented her and her family over the course of twenty years by haunting their sleep and peeping on visiting girls in the shower. Alisss and Britt close out the episode by reflecting on Helen’s tales while discussing their own experiences with the bizarre phenomenon known as sleep paralysis. We want to hear your stories!
