In this video, we review and respond to a sermon from Cody Deese discussing the resurrection of Jesus and the idea that it symbolizes resistance against empire and oppressive political systems. Does the resurrection primarily represent political resistance, or does Scripture teach something deeper about sin, death, salvation, and the Kingdom of God?We examine the biblical context of the resurrection, compare the sermon's claims with Scripture, and ask important theological questions about the Gospel message, the mission of Jesus, and how Christians should understand the relationship between faith and politics. The sermons in this video were given by Cody Deese. DateNovember 23, 2025SynopsisIn this sermon, we conclude our In Good Company series by venturing into the often-terrifying landscape of our own minds with guest speaker Cody Deese. Rather than treating anxiety as a spiritual failure or a monster to be exiled, Cody reframes our panic as a flare gun from the "internal universe," signaling a deep need for attention and love. He invites us to stop trying to talk our way out of fear and instead feel our way through it, discovering that the Divine is waiting for us right in the center of the storm.About The Local ChurchFor more information about The Local Church, visit our website. In this episode, Pastor Brad interviews Cody Deese, a pastor from Georgia and author of Discovering Your Internal Universe. Cody opens up about his lifelong struggle with anxiety, which began in childhood. At 40 years old, he received his first diagnosis of panic disorder — the moment that marked the beginning of a deep and challenging journey toward healing. He shares how he tried numerous approaches — from professional help to various methods and diets — but his real breakthrough came when he began addressing unprocessed pain. By revisiting his childhood memories through imagination and reconnecting with familiar spaces from his past, Cody discovered that his anxiety was not his enemy, but rather an alarm pointing to pain that needed to be healed. This powerful conversation reminds us that true healing often begins when we have the courage to face what hurts most.
Cody Deese speaks on his experience with anxiety and his new book “Discovering Your internal Universe”

"A movement driven by prosperity preachers, extremist politicians, and right-wing power brokers laid the groundwork for Trump's presidency and is now advancing its agenda under his second administration. This multipronged effort against our national institutions is being led by millennial “kingmaker” Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA and the new face of Christian Nationalism."That's the book pitch for "Seven Mountains Mandate: Exposing the Dangerous Plan to Christianize America and Destroy Democracy," by Dr. Matthew Boedy, professor of English and rhetoric at the University of North Georgia. This isn't new ground for this show, but it brings into focus the role of Turning Points USA (TPUSA) and its assassinated leader, Charlie Kirk in this 'anything-but-Christian,' white nationalist movement that's been slowly, steadily working its way towards usurping democracy to maintain control by a white evangelical minority even if it means using an unholy man in Donald Trump to achieve their goals. He and I discuss his book along with his own occupational and personal safety in a right wing "cancel culture" fervor. Then, a local progressive minister, Cody Deese, touched on 'Christian nationalism' and its flock either being ignorant or "in line," mentally, with the likes of TPUSA's fallen leader and his intentionally hurtful statements. Deese, saying, Now you start to see the exterior being a mirror to the interior."

Supreme Court looking into birthright citizenship. This might not be ruled on until June, which is gonna be here before you know it exactly. But all of these Democrats, they're if you wanna find out what a constitutional amendment really means, the best way to do that is go and look at the at what the people that wrote it said about it. In this case, it's senator Jacob Howard. He was one of the people that authored the fourteenth amendment back in 1866. And this is one of those topics that everybody on the left that they love, oh, we go we're gonna change hundreds of years of law and blah blah blah blah blah. But we're not. What has actually happened was the Democrats have used the fourteenth amendment incorrectly for this amount of time. When you go back and you ex look exactly what Jacob Howard said about the fourteenth amendment, I don't think he stuttered on this thing. Not at all. Let's go right now to Deese, Kalen. He is with the, Washington Examiner. Deese Kalen Deese, Kalen, how are you? Hi. Thanks for having me on. Great to be with you. Alright. So all of this really goes back to senator Jacob Howard, one of the authors of the fourteenth amendment. What do you think the Supreme Court really wants to hear about during these arguments? So the Supreme Court today was very much interested in hearing more about the arguments of bringing, more of a, regulation to nationwide injunctions rather than the fourteenth amendment itself. Mhmm. And I think that that was sort of the issue today is that it was a very double barreled, court case. There was that temptation to talk about the origins of the fourteenth amendment and whether it confers the right to birthright citizenship. But at the same time, that wasn't really the task at hand. And I think that that was something that made, for more confusion as to what the justices are ultimately gonna decide with this case whenever they issue a ruling perhaps in the next couple of weeks. And I think that from what we gathered today, there was definitely more, I would say, Democratic appointed justices that were interested in talking about the actual birthright, executive order that president Trump has put in place. And and and if and if you're listening to their words intently enough, then you might come away from it thinking, well, this executive order seems to maybe have a pretty steep chance of passing their muster. But I would also put the caveat where the Republican appointed justices were not really entertaining any parts of the merits of that executive order. So it kind of created a, an unfair, you know, balance where it seemed like there was more negative attention going toward the executive order whenever that wasn't even the issue that they had to deal with before them. Now I know Ketanji Brown Jackson. She said was she was in favor of these lower courts issuing their orders because that way, the administration would have to go to the Supreme Court quicker. Yeah. It seemed like that that was sort of the idea that the Supreme Court could handle this, in the way that that from from her perspective that the Supreme Court could continue to handle these cases in the way that things are going. But, obviously, we saw that with this case, it became a special oral argument session, in the May, which you know, are they going to do that for every single controversial, you know, alleged controversial executive order that is going to, you know, get stalled by a lower court judge? I mean, the fact of the matter is is that one of the things that was brought up and, rightfully noted is that, you know, nationwide injunctions really weren't popularized until the nineteen sixties, the 1963 case at the DC, circuit court. So I think that, you know, we've seen a steady pattern even in administrations before Trump where lower court judges have progressively begun to, you know, take, you know, stiff aim at the powers of, of of executive authority. The United States is grappling with two of the biggest challenges it has ever faced: the rise of China and the threat of catastrophic climate change. At home, the Biden administration has forged a green industrial policy that could transform the U.S. economy. But as China threatens to dominate the global market for clean energy, it is not enough to invest domestically, Brian Deese argues in a new Foreign Affairs essay. Deese has been at the center of climate and economic policymaking for over a decade. He served as the director of the National Economic Council in the Biden administration, where he was one of the key architects behind the Inflation Reduction Act. During the Obama years, he helped lead the auto bailout and negotiate the Paris agreement on climate change. Now, he has a plan for the United States to lead the global energy transition on its own terms.
Send us a text In this episode of Healing the City, Henrey Deese delves into the rationale behind the Young Earth creationist opposition to evolutionary theory. Through a careful examination, he unpacks the logic they employ and questions its consistency. Henrey approaches the topic with humility, aiming to reveal a crucial point: Young Earthers often resist applying the scientific method to their own theories. This discussion is especially pertinent for scientists engaged in the evolution versus creation debate, offering insights into the contrasting methodologies and mindsets within this ongoing discourse. In this message, Pastor Jordan, gives us 3 reminders to live by as we go through pain. Thank you for listening to this message from Radiant Church. We pray this moves you closer to Christ and encourages you.
If you live in the Red Hills of Southwest Georgia, you probably know Russell Deese. If you don't know him, you've probably seen his restored military vehicles around town. Ironically, Russell restores old vehicles that most people would leave in the junkyard. His wife brings new life to stray dogs that are often dumped at trash heaps. Russell and his wife see the value in lives that are left for dead by others. Although Russell's business keeps him busy, his focus is on God's kingdom. We need more men who are willing to humble themselves and follow wherever God leads like Russell does.https://www.generationjeep.net/https://www.revealedpodcast.orgCustom sound & website design by our Helluva engineer, William HamilSound & film editing by Grayson DurhamLogo design by Cassie DurhamSocial Media Consultation by Maddie Rome
