Longtime Montana energy attorney and Democrat Monica Tranel on Monday announced she'll challenge Republican Rep. Ryan Zinke for the state's western congressional district next year.

Varina High School senior Joshua Crenshaw won the Fourth District Congressional Art Competition hosted by U.S. Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents the district. McClellan welcomed Crenshaw to Washington, D.C. to celebrate his success. When Lisa Haderlein saw that Congressman Darin LaHood did not have an opponent in the 16th District Congressional race in Illinois, she wondered why? So, she contacted local Democratic party officials in the district and volunteered to be the candidate. A city council member in Harvard, Illinois, located in McHenry County. Lisa's background is in conservation where she has run a small non-profit organization dedicated to conservation. Naturally, one of the issues that drove her to run for Congress is the environment. She is the Democratic candidate for Congress in the First District, which encompasses the Eastern Shore of Maryland, as well as parts of Baltimore, Harford, and Carroll counties.
