Am Sonntag gastiert die HSG zum Hessenderby bei der MT Melsungen. He wrote, “To all Airlines, Pilots, Drug Dealers, and Human Traffickers, please consider THE AIRSPACE ABOVE AND SURROUNDING VENEZUELA TO BE CLOSED IN ITS ENTIRETY.” Trump designates Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist group The President also designated certain chapters of the Muslim Brotherhood organization as a terrorist group, as of Sunday.  CounterExtremism.com has counted 48 extremist individuals and groups tied to the Brotherhood. As a Muslim Brotherhood host, the nation of Qatar has transferred $1.8 billion to Gaza since 2012, some of which reportedly has gone to Hamas. That information was revealed through recent audits. 65 people died from Ebola in Congo, Africa The Democratic Republic of the Congo is dealing with another Ebola outbreak — 65 cases confirmed and 45 deaths, reports U.S. News & World Report. The last major Congolese outbreak occurred in 2018. The virus is as dangerous as rabies, the Marburg virus, and the Avian flu. Exodus 4:11 reminds us that God is in control of all health issues: “So the Lord said to him, “Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord?” Russian-Ukrainian negotiations at stalemate In other world news, the Russo-Ukrainian conflict negotiations are approaching another stalemate. Ukraine announced they will not accept territorial concessions. And French President Emmanuel Macron announced an endorsement of using frozen Russian assets to help fund Ukraine's defense. Japanese court upholds ban on homosexual marriage Japan's Tokyo court upheld the homosexual marriage ban as constitutional, reports the BBC. Of Asian states, only Thailand, Nepal, and Taiwan have legalized the practice thus far. Christian ministries ranked most and least transparent Ministry Watch has released its 2025 ratings of American ministries for financial efficiency, transparency, and donor confidence. Of the largest ministries in the United States, Medicine For All People International, Grand Canyon University, World Relief, Christian Aid Ministries, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the Christian Broadcasting Network rate the highest. Lowest ratings go to Samaritan's Purse, Convoy of Hope, Baylor University, Pepperdine University, and Hillsdale College. Some controversy has been brewing recently over the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability and the Billy Graham Evangelical Association's withdrawal from the organization.  Top 3 ministries serving the persecuted Of the six ministries serving the persecuted saints, Ministry Watch rates International Christian Concern, Equipping the Persecuted, and Persecution Project highest for financial efficiency, transparency, and donor confidence. Proverbs 28:27 says, “He who gives to the poor will not lack, but he who hides his eyes will have many curses.” U.S. government ran a $1.8 trillion deficit The financial numbers are in for the U.S. government's fiscal year 2025, ending in October. The government ran a deficit of $1.8 trillion for the year. That's down $41 billion or 2% compared to the previous year.  However, revenues increased by $317 billion due to higher tariffs on imported goods. Spending was up a whopping 4% or $275 billion, driven by welfare and benefit programs, as well as rising interest payments on the public debt. Trump to pick new Federal Reserve Chairman U.S. President Donald Trump will soon announce his next pick for chairman of the Federal Reserve. The new pick is slated to replace Jerome Powell in May of next year. Gold hits $4,230/ounce and silver hits $58/ounce Metals are still on the rise again. FDA admits COVID-19 shots killed U.S. kids The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has acknowledged, for the first time, that COVID-19 vaccines have killed American children. According to Politico, Vinay Prasad, the vaccine chief for the FDA, issued a memo in which he revealed that FDA staff “found … at least 10 children have died after and because of receiving COVID-19 vaccination.” This comes from an “initial analysis of 96 deaths (associated with the vaccine taking place) between 2021 and 2024.” TN Democrat opposes Christian prayer in public forum And finally, the Christian faith appears to be at stake -- in a tight election in Tennessee for the 7th District Congressional seat. The Democrat candidate Aftyn Behn has gone on record stating she is opposed to Christian prayer in the public forum.   President Donald Trump took to Truth Social yesterday. He warned that Behn “hates Christianity, will take away your guns, wants Open Borders. . . men in women's sports, and openly disdains Country music.” The latest polls show the Republican candidate, Van Epps, is holding a slight lead in today's election. In Langgöns Dornholzhausen steht gestern Abend eine Scheune mitten in einem Wohngebiet lichterloh in Flammen. Verletzt wird niemand, laut ersten Schätzungen liegt der Schaden bei rund 100.000€. Ein klares Nein zu Gewalt an Frauen - das sagen heute Millionen Menschen auf der ganzen Welt - auch hier bei uns in Mittelhessen. Am Internationalen Tag zur Beendigung der Gewalt gegen Frauen liegen zum Beispiel in Friedberg und Bad Nauheim in Restaurants, Bars und Kneipen orangefarbene Bierdeckel mit Frauennotrufnummern aus. Ukrainekrieg, Nahostkonflikt, Klimawandel - zu solchen Themen wird auch in Uni-Hörsälen teilweise heftig diskutiert. Das neue EU-Projekt NAVINCLASS an der Uni Marburg will Lehrenden und Studierenden helfen, besser mit politischen Spannungen im Seminar umzugehen.

Betreuungsdienst in stürmischen Zeiten: so lautete der Titel der zweiten Ausgabe des Betreuungsdienst Symposiums im August 2025. Der Landesverband Hessen hat Rotkreuzler:innen aus ganz Deutschland nach Bad Wildungen in Nordhessen, zwischen Marburg und Kassel, eingeladen. Neben Fachvorträgen, einer Industrieausstellung, Spezialfahrzeugen und Spezialausstattung gab es auch viele Möglichkeiten zur Vernetzung und zum Austausch. Und das Ganze überwiegend ehrenamtlich gestemmt. Nach dem Rotkreuz-Ereignis des Monats erklärt Jürgen Kraft, Landesbereitschaftsleiter in Hessen, was das Betreuungsdienst Symposium ist. Danach folgen kurze Gespräche mit den Speaker:innen über ihren jeweiligen Vortrag und ihre Sicht auf die aktuellen und künftigen Herausforderungen des Betreuungsdienstes in Deutschland. Das soll euch natürlich Appetit machen, beim nächsten Betreuungsdienst Symposium einfach selbst teilzunehmen. Am Ende der Folge gibt es dann noch ein Gespräch mit zwei Kollegen aus dem Orga-Team, ein Fazit von Jürgen Kraft und eines von Martin.

Das Leben der Frau, an die ich heute denke, ist in drei knappen Zahlen einzugrenzen: 4, 14 und 24. Wie das? Mit vier Jahren wird Elisabeth, die ungarische Königstochter, mit vielen Geschenken und Amme und Gespielinnen nach Eisenach auf die Wartburg gebracht; nicht zu ihrem Vergnügen, sondern aus staatspolitischen Gründen. Sie soll den Sohn des damals sehr mächtigen thüringischen Landesfürsten der Ludowinger heiraten und so die Macht beider Seiten stärken und ausweiten. Der ihr zugedachte Herrmann stirbt aber und so heiratet sie mit gerade einmal 14 Jahren den jüngeren Sohn Ludwig. Es ist eine Verbindung, die damals sehr ungewöhnlich war, denn beide waren zusammen aufgewachsen und liebten sich aus ganzem Herzen.Die Verhältnisse auf der Burg, das ausschweifende Leben der Burggrafen und Ihres Gefolges und die Armut der Leibeigenen unterhalb der Burg in Eisenach und den umliegenden Weilern hat die junge Elisabeth schon immer zum Nachdenken gebracht und ihren Zorn erregt und ihre Hilfsbereitschaft. So bringt sie Brot und andere Lebensmittel nach unten zu den Bedürftigen und ihr Ludwig versteht sie und billigt ihr Handeln. Sie bekommt drei Kinder und könnte glücklich sein. Aber ihr geliebter Gatte stirbt auf der Reise zum Kreuzzug und ihr ist sehr schnell bewusst, was das bedeutet. Die restliche Verwandtschaft, denen Elisabeths Handeln und ihre Großzügigkeit schon immer ein Dorn im Auge war, lässt ihr keinen Raum zum Leben.So gibt sie ihre Kinder in Pflege und Obhut, geht nach Marburg auf ihr Witwengut und gründet ein Hospital für die Armen und Kranken. All ihr verbliebenes Geld geht dabei drauf und ihre Lebenskraft. Und so stirbt sie mit gerade einmal 24 Jahren. Zwischen diesen Zahlen 4, 14 und 24 liegen gerade einmal 20 Jahre mit einer Fülle an Leben, Liebe, Temperament, Glaube, Mutterglück, Tragik, Trauer und Engagement für die Mitmenschen. Normalerweise würden wir jetzt reagieren und denken: Oh Gott, wie furchtbar. Aber sie sieht es anders. Sie wird knapp am Ende ihres Lebens zu ihren treuen Gefährtinnen sagen: "Seht, ich habe es euch immer gesagt: Wir müssen die Menschen froh machen."

He is referred to as the father of nuclear chemistry and discoverer of nuclear fission, the science behind nuclear reactors and nuclear weapons. Hahn and Lise Meitner discovered isotopes of the radioactive elements radium, thorium, protactinium and uranium. He also discovered the phenomena of atomic recoil and nuclear isomerism, and pioneered rubidium–strontium dating. In 1938, Hahn, Meitner and Fritz Strassmann discovered nuclear fission, for which Hahn alone was awarded the 1944 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.A graduate of the University of Marburg, which awarded him a doctorate in 1901, Hahn studied under Sir William Ramsay at University College London and at McGill University in Montreal under Ernest Rutherford, where he discovered several new radioactive isotopes. Other viruses, such as Hendra virus, are a little more mysterious and indirect in how they spread. And researchers are still unsure how viruses such as Ebola, Marburg and the coronavirus that caused Covid-19 get from bats to people.However, a team working in the Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda may have just gotten a big clue.Bosco Atukwatse, a Ugandan wildlife biologist working with the Kyambura Lion Project, set up solar-powered cameras near the mouth of Python Cave in the Maramagambo Forest in the park. He knew the cave was home to multitudes of Egyptian fruit bats and was hoping for pictures of leopards and spotted hyenas.What he got were dozens of images of animals hunting the bats. Birds, snakes, giant lizards called monitors, a very persistent leopard, monkeys, baboons, and a catlike animal called a genet all regularly hunted in the cave.This behavior was notable on its own. But the bats in this cave are also known to be infected with Marburg virus, a rare but deadly virus that can cause a hemorrhagic fever. Two visitors to the cave had been infected with Marburg, including a Dutch tourist who died in 2008 and a U.S. tourist.The findings don't prove that animals who hunt bats are spreading Marburg, says Dr. Alex Braczkowski, Science Director of the Kyambura Lion Project, who reported the discovery on the open repository site Zenodo.
