Real leadership isn't about control—it's about commitment. It's about surrender. It's about serving. It's about leading others because you first learned how to follow Christ in faith, in suffering, and in hope.
Pastor Ryan challenges us to True Fellowship. The Cost of Fellowship is Sacrifice; sacrifice of comfort, sacrifice of self, and sacrifice of will.
When it comes to developing leadership, many focus on how to become an effective leader through understanding the characteristics of good leaders, as well as the behaviours required to create an empowering and engaging environment. This is necessary, but great leaders also focus their attention on followship at the same time. In this episode, I'm joined by Dr.Chris Fuzie, CEO of CMF Leadership Consulting, and an expert in behaviour based leadership. It is a fascinating conversation that delves into leadership & followship, the concept of leaderology, the importance of emotional intelligence, as well as continuous learning. This is message 3 in the 2 Corinthians series 2 Corithians 2:1-17 Paul expresses the deep love and concern that motivated his correction of the Corinthians, emphasizing that it was out of love, not anger, that he wrote a difficult letter. He also discusses the importance of forgiveness, urging the church to restore a repentant member to fellowship and warning against allowing bitterness to take root. Finally, Paul highlights the triumph in Christ, describing the believer's role in spreading the "savor" of Christ's knowledge, salvation, and the work of soul-winning. He stresses the need for sincerity and integrity in handling God's Word, reminding believers that their ultimate accountability is to God, who rewards faithfulness. Psalm 119:45 says, “I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.” How does seeking God's precepts give you liberty? This message answers this question by us diving into God's Word on this last “Lesson in Followship”.
This is another convicting “Lesson in Followship” with Ephesians 5:1,2 as the main text. You cannot serve the world and God at the same time. You must choose this day who you will serve.
This is another “Lesson in Followship”, with the main text being 1 Timothy 6:10-16. We must flee earthly things, and follow after righteous, heavenly things in order to be true followers of Christ.
This is the 8th “Lesson in Followship”, and we look at 2 Timothy 1, where Paul instructs Timothy to not be ashamed. This is the first mention of this phrase, and there are more to follow in 2 Timothy.
People will follow after their lusts. As Christians, we are commanded to flee lusts, and follow after the things of God(2 Tim. 2:22). This is the seventh “Lesson in Followship”.
This is the 5th “Lesson in Followship”, with our main text as Proverbs 4:23-27. We must be very careful about whom we follow, but one thing that helps is to look to Christ as our example.
This is the fourth “Lesson in Followship” taught from the first two verses of Psalm 1. If you have any questions, you may email us at answers@bfbaptist.com.
What is the importance of doctrine, especially in small areas like how masters and servants should behave themselves? In this third “Lesson in Followship”, we see that importance in I Timothy 6:1-11.
We finish the second message in the "Lessons in Followship" series based out of Philippians 3. Last week, we saw Paul's Sobering Precaution and Secure Position. In this message, we see his Singular Pursuit and the Settled Pattern laid out in front of us.
This is the first half of the second message in the series of "Lessons in Followship". The main passage is Philippians 3.
This is the first message in a new series of "Lessons in Followship". It deals with the followship of Christ's disciples starting in John 1:35-51, and going to many other New Testament texts.

On Palm Sunday Jesus rode in as king only to die as a criminal. The expectations of his followers are echoed in their shouts of “Save Now” as Jesus rode in on a donkey. But their high expectations were crushed when their hero turned out to be ordinary. Or was he? Jesus exceeded all expectations when he bypassed temporal deliverance for eternal rescue. No one knew that God's plan to enter death for us was the real path to victory. Could it be that some of your own expectations are misguided? How should followers of Jesus deal with unfulfilled or unrealistic expectations? This Sunday we continue “Followship” with a special Palm Sunday edition that will help you navigate your current reality with hope for the future.
Jake discusses the profound differences between President Reagan & Brandon Biden.
Following Jesus can be difficult if you're only looking at His outward actions. Do I follow the passive “turn the other cheek” Jesus? Or how about the angry, whip snapping “get out of my Father's house” Jesus? And good luck following the “walk on water” Jesus! When we externalize the human actions of Jesus without factoring in love, we can come up with excuses for any of our actions. But there's something deeper. The Spirit of Jesus abiding in you and always pointing toward the best way to follow Jesus. The way of love. Ironically, this Spirit is first mentioned as an external activity of Jesus… His water baptism. When we follow Jesus in baptism an external symbolic activity becomes an internal spiritual activation. Let's talk about that! We'll also be baptizing many followers of Jesus this Sunday and would love for you to come celebrate with them.
Our culture is obsessed with leadership. The church has embraced this without any critical thought. When pastors are lauded for their abilities as CEOs instead of servants we have a major problem. “Come follow me,” Jesus said. This simple invitation is the foundation of what it means to be a Christian. But it is only compelling when our lives align with the message we embrace. The church did not call themselves Christian, the people of Antioch did. Why? Because they were acting like Christ! These early believers didn't map to the culture around them and the locals took notice. So much so that they gave them the moniker “Christian” because of some very Jesus-like traits. What would people call you today? It's high time to embrace “Followship” because Jesus is still saying, “Come follow me.”
