In the latest episode of the Empowerography Podcast, my guest is Susan Lovelle. Dr. Susan, The Thrive Architect, teaches busy women how to flourish by mastering their energy, weight, and hormones. She's the creator of Premiere Wellness, a comprehensive holistic health company based in Raleigh, NC, serving clients nationally. Dr. Susan and her team work virtually and in person through workshops, courses, coaching, and retreats. Having been a professional ballet dancer for 17 years and then an award-winning plastic surgeon for over two decades, Dr. Susan knows what it's like to beat your body and your mind into submission to achieve a certain look or vision. In fact, the physical, mental, and emotional abuse she heaped on her own body during those years led to the life-threatening health issues she later developed and it was only through a personalized, holistic approach that she healed herself. Now, Dr. Susan uses that additional expertise in Functional Medicine to help others heal from the inside out, leading to lasting, powerful change. Dr. Susan has been featured on The Doctors, Lifetime TV, The Huffington Post, Forbes, Good Morning Washington, and Good Day Charlotte. How things can begin to change for the better in the current healthcare system.   "I think in general, women tend to have it a little harder because we have our jobs, usually full time jobs where we're expected to be, at the top of our game." - 00:06:30 "What do we do about stress? When you host a podcast called Date Night, and you try to round up two EARLY morning broadcasters on a school night, you either better bring the coffee, or a healthy dose of energy. Fortunately we had plenty of the latter with Power 98's Ms. Jessica and "The Guy" joining the pod! Ms. Jessica, aka The Girl Next Door, is one of the hosts of the No Limit Larry and the Morning Maddhouse radio show in Charlotte, while The Guy is a school counselor for CMS. And yes, before we get too far we should probably address this whole - The Guy - thing. He's Jessica's long-time +1. And his name is pretty much the only thing off-limits on her show. But we learn his name almost immediately once we started recording. And if that isn't enough incentive to listen, we don't know what is! Jessica and Page have gotten to know each other through a segment on Good Day Charlotte where she delivers a healthy dose of entertainment gossip, affectionately referred to as #noseyneighbornews. Recently, much of the topics of discussion on their respective shows have turned to racial injustice, civil unrest and everything else the world is juggling right now. And just when you think they have a tough job, talking about these topics live on the air each day, scroll up and re-read The Guy's resume. Yeah. He tackles these topics everyday with young students, who you know are already dealing with PLENTY. Phew. We discuss these topics and more, including the fact that Ms. Jessica is the "June" of her family, having two older brothers. Check out Jessica at @heymsjessica and The Guy wherever people are doing the Lord's work. Welcome to another round of Date Night! In this episode we chat with Charlotte blogger and influencer, Miranda Miller, and her husband Joshua. Miranda and Page met on Page's literal first day of launching Good Day Charlotte on Fox 46. Miranda made the celebration cake. It was delicious. And beautiful. These were her pre-purple hair days. A few years later fate brought them together again on the mean streets of...Pineville. Which...was only mean because this time all of both of their children were in tow, and that will make anyone mean. Fast-forward a couple more years and a couple thousand more insta-followers (she is a "swipe up" person now!!,) and Miranda and Page are back. Husbands in tow. Kids relegated to the downstairs only. Miranda and Joshua were our first #PlayroomPodcast experiment (ahem... GUESTS). They came over on a Saturday morning and GOT IN THERE with us. We discussed how they met and Joshua's penchant for double-thongs, Miranda's thoughts on how we're teaching our children about sex (WE ARE DOING IT WRONG), and how they might be the only family who crosses more work/life lines than we do. We also got into the "rules" about what's fair game to share on Miranda's blog and how Joshua supports their family with his prowess as a sign maker. Or something like that. Page still isn't sure. At some point while we were upstairs our youngest daughter June had locked their oldest daughter Bella in the coat closet, turned off the light and simply left, like some warped game of hide-and-seek... without the seek. When we came down Bella exited, gently relayed what had happened, and then offered to take a picture of all the grown-ups "for the post." Because her mama is a blogger and SHE GETS IT. If only her dad enjoyed having his picture taken... Be sure to check out Miranda's blog at www.mirandaincharlotte.com! We’d love to hear from you as well! Whether in the studio, on social media, or interacting with Charlotteans IRL, Page and Jason are being honest and authentic in the era of “fake news.” To us, this seems like a great place to have a conversation about Honesty with two Queen City Creatives who are doing it right. In this episode of the #CharlotteIsCreative podcast, Page and Jason talk about their creative outlets, the importance of just doing it, the first news stories they did that ever affected them, and what advice they would give to their younger selves. Register for the next Creative Mornings Charlotte event Friday, November 9 at 8:30 a.m. at Temple Beth-El. The featured speaker will be meditation teacher Dr. Matt Lyon, speaking about the global theme of “Restart”.  RSVPs will open at 9 a.m., Monday, November 5. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #CharlotteIsCreative, and tweet us @CM_CLT whenever you see Charlotteans showing their creativity.

We're coming to you live with a two-pack, gang! We've got episodes 21 and 22, featuring SkillPop founder Haley Bohon and her husband Steve, and Page's co-anchor Jason Harper and his wife Angie, respectively. (Episode 22 can be found wherever you get your podcasts too!) We realized we had started to collect a few episodes in the can, so we thought we'd release a couple together.  First up are Haley and Steve Bohon.  Haley founded Charlotte start-up darling SkillPop in 2015 and Steve joined her shortly thereafter.  SkillPop's claim to fame is that they are revolutionizing in-person education, and as public speaking teachers, Page and Jake can attest to it's rocket ship growth.  SkillPop has expanded to Raleigh, Greenville, S.C. and Nashville, and Steve and Haley have other major business development ideas brewing as well, especially after their recent appearance at Techstars in Austin.  The future is SUPER bright for these two, and Charlotte is lucky to have them.  You'll recognize Jason Harper from his weekday appearances...right next to Page.  Jason is Page's co-anchor on FOX 46's Good Day Charlotte, and together with his wife Angie, the two make for a hilarious duo.  Jason and Angie team together to raise a blended family of four daughters, which is not lacking in funny stories.  What makes their backstory that much more interesting, is that they're high school sweethearts...sort of.  After knowing each other growing up, the two went their separate ways and eventually reunited after each having a first marriage.  And now together they enjoy hitting up Charlotte's breweries and every Old Navy in the 704. We can’t thank Haley, Steve, Jason and Angie enough for joining us on this episode, and as always, big thanks to Garrett Tichy, Hygge and Richard Brooke for having us as a member of their inaugural Hygge Podcast Residency! Please subscribe, share and comment on this episode. Past shows can be found on jakeandpage.com, iTunes and wherever you get your podcasts. We live stream most episodes on Facebook (Page Crawford Fox 46) and videos are posted to youtube.com/jakefehling. Please keep the conversation going on social media using the hashtag #datenightclt. Thanks for listening! p.s. Sorry once again for the brutal audio in Episode 21. If you remember, due to technical difficulties we lost that and the preceding episode's recordings, but fortunately we were able to pull what you're listening to from the Facebook live stream. Big ups once again to Richard for trying to salvage our memory card. RIP, good audio.

For nearly 7 years this dynamic duo has worked side by side to create innovative training techniques for both their clients and their trainers, with a mindset that every day we can improve as a company. It is our belief that dog training should be a fun and interactive life experience for both owner and dog, coaching both equally on how to properly communicate between two species and live a happy life together. Katrina and Phillip exude our training philosophy of active training – they run, hike, bike, swim and weight train all with their four dogs – Zoey, a rescue Chow-mix, Bullet, a Cooper’s Australian Shepherd, Carmella, a Season’s Gold Golden Retriever, and Opie, a Southern Soul Australian Shepherd. Advocates for animal rights (Katrina herself is a vegan), this love for animals shows in their dog training techniques as they believe that training a dog to understand our language should be done using a variety of methods that is fair and fun. Katrina has an eye for training both dogs and people, and her ability to multi-task at a quick speed, allows KeenDog to constantly be evolving. Katrina has also appeared in a variety of commercials (Cosequin) and television appearances (Good Day Charlotte), and is a leader in the dog training world with her many YouTube tutorial videos.
