David Mathis | Our God is a great King, whom we approach with awe. And he is our Father, whom we run to with confidence. How does Christian prayer balance this paradox?
One day, as Jesus was approaching Jericho, a blind beggar on the roadside, heard Jesus was passing close by. Immediately, he began crying out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me! His boldness offended everyone around him. They rebuked him. You’re rude! Leave Jesus alone! Be quiet, shut up! His bold desperation was seen by others as inappropriate, but he wouldn’t be silenced. He cried out even louder! Jesus stopped, called him forward, & asked, “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord, let me recover my sight.” Jesus was impressed by his desperate, bold faith! He loved It! He commended his faith & healed him on the spot! Have you ever been so spiritually desperate for Jesus that you became so bold you didn’t care what others might think? I’m not talking about selfish desperation or arrogant boldness driven by a desire for something in this world. I’m talking about a bold, spiritual desperation for something this world could never provide even in its best moments. Would you be humble & bold enough to risk earthly misunderstanding in pursuit of grace, mercy, and redemption? What brings a soul to a place where they take such audacious steps that others might see as ridiculous, or even rude? Imagine a moment of desperation for redemption that leads to a humble boldness that risks others misjudging you. Could it be that the redemption you’re desperate for will require humble boldness? Would you take that step?

Have you ever been so distraught, anxious, distressed and distracted you couldn’t eat or sleep? Maybe you were worried about your bills or you lost your job, or a huge costly catastrophe that came upon you. Maybe it was a legal decision from the judge, a medical diagnosis from your doctor, or other potential, looming bad news. Maybe it was just immense grief and sorrow over losing someone you love, a spouse, or a parent, or a child. All of us have faced devastating events in our lives, leaving us feeling helpless, that exposed our frailty or vulnerability. But these heavy moments provide the most stark of contrasts between the faithful & rest of the world. Without eternal hope, life is pretty much about grabbing what you can, and enjoying peaceful moments between bad news. But for followers of Jesus, these moments present an opportunity for our greatest expressions of worship to God.
God promises not merely that we will find grace “to help in time of need,” but that the grace is well-timed by God.

We should be on a journey of ever growing faith (2Thessalonians 1:3). The Bible promises if we SEEK God we will FIND Him. (1) First, we discover Him as the almighty CREATOR of the universe and of us. We are created by a Personal God, the FATHER, who wants us to know Him. (2) Then, we discover He has revealed Himself in His Word, and ultimately in His SON, Jesus Christ, and we come to know Him as our SAVIOUR. (3) Then, His SPIRIT comes to indwell us and He works in our life as our SANCTIFIER, transforming us from glory to glory. Likewise, there are 3 LEVELS of FAITH: (1) GENERAL FAITH in God - His existence and character, His power and goodness, which is the basis for HOPE (Hebrews 11:6). (2) SPECIFIC FAITH that comes to God (on the basis of general faith) and receives His promises (TRUST), for example Hebrews 11:11, Mark 11:24, Hebrews 4:16. But (3) the highest level of faith is trusting God, even in times of testing, when all seems lost. This is the expression of faith manifested in the loyalty of LOVE. We see this kind of faith exemplified by Abraham offering up Isaac, when he passed the ultimate test of faith, when he proved his love for God (Genesis 22, Hebrews 11:17-19). This Level 3 Faith was also exemplified by Habakkuk (3:17,18), and by Job in the midst of his trials (James 5:11). These 3 LEVELS of Faith are illustrated in Daniel 3:16-18: (1) general faith in the character of God ("our God is able to deliver us"), (2) specific faith in the promise of God ("He will deliver us from your hand, O king"), and (3) trusting God and staying loyal to Him, even if it means suffering loss ("even if He does not deliver us, we will not bow down to any other god").

Pastor Marc Sharp continues with Part 21 of the current series that is an epic journey through the New Testament Gospel of Mark, verse by verse. The book of Mark was most likely the first one written, and is generally attributed to John Mark, a close associate of Peter, and also of Paul and Barnabas. The Gospel of Mark is all about Jesus and the good news (Gospel) of the kingdom of God. Who was Jesus really, and why exactly did he come? Last week we wrapped up a conflict between Jesus and the Pharisees. In today's message, Pastor Gabe walks us through the healing of the Syrophoenician woman's daughter. What a privilege it is to approach the throne of God and bring your needs to him! But before presenting him a list of requests, give God thanks for his mercy. Only through his mercy in Christ are you, a sinner, even able to enter his presence. Thank God for his throne of grace!

Jeff Maness – August 1st, 2021 So many times we view troubles in our life as only obstacles to endure. And they are an obstacle, but could they also be an opportunity? Troubles in life are not just obstacles to endure, they are opportunities to experience, and James tells us what opportunities exist in our...

Jeff Maness – April 18, 2021 Too often, we can place upon God the negative characteristics of our earthly Fathers. We believe something about Him that isn’t true, especially when bad things happen to us. However, not everything that happens to me is from God, but everything God does for me is good. So, what...
Emotions are a powerful force in our lives. Often strong emotions can overwhelm us and lead us to do and say things that we should not do or say. People who are ruled by their emotions can do significant damage to people and relationships around them. Emotions are not bad, but bad things can happen when we fail to control them. God is our refuge. We can turn to God amid our emotions for help. God cares about us our emotional state. Our emotions are feedback indicators. Emotions express our state of being to us and those around us. Our response to powerful emotions is essential. Some struggle with these reactions and those people must recognize that they have a problem in that area. Knowing there is a problem is not enough; we have to do something about it. To do something about it, we must form new habits. Our habits will help us become emotionally whole. God wants us to be emotionally complete.

Prayer starts by lifting up our eyes to Heaven, magnifying God, and looking to Him as our Source: “Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be your Name." This is how Jesus prayed. He taught us to: "watch and pray." Watching means setting our eyes on the Lord, so we can see His will and receive His grace.

God the Father - Part III
The New Covenant matters because you can now CONFIDENTLY approach God. Faith is confidence in the person of Jesus Christ and in his power, so that even when his power does not serve my end, my confidence in him remains because of who he is. —Ravi Zacharias The New Covenant matters because God INITIATED it and Jesus SECURES it The New Covenant matters because it will NEVER change
Prayer is the two way communication between God and the believer in Christ Jesus. However, the prayer of salvation prayer of the unbeliever will be heard AND listened to. The word prayer is mentioned 114 times in King James Version. Four different words in Strong's: H8605, G435, G1162, and G2171. The definition ranges from Intercession, supplications, to Worship, , A Petition to God. I received this lesson, both for myself, and for each of you to encourage, to teach, to remind and perhaps correct some, while studying Experiencing God bible study. The following scripture references are mentioned: Psalm 34:15-16; Hebrews 4:16; Isaiah 6:1-5; Mark 2:3-5, 9-12

Today Pastor Keith Radke joins Mike and Heather as they ponder Hebrews 4:16 and the promise found at its center! Specifically focused on is the grace and mercy we are told are available for us when we draw near to God! Also discussed today is easy it is for us to obtain and study God’s Word unlike it was for people almost any other time in history.
Philippians 4:19, Psalm 11, Exodus 16:15-16, 19, Philippians 4:6-7, 19, Hebrews 4:16
Psalm 119:114, Psalm 142, Ephesians 3:16-18, Hebrews 4:16, John 8:44, James 4:7-8
Isaiah 53:5 (KJV) But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Psalm 34 (NLT) 1 I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises. 2 I will boast only in the Lord; let all who are helpless take heart. 3 Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness; let us exalt his name together. 4 I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. 5 Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. 6 In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles. 7 For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him. 8 Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! 9 Fear the Lord, you his godly people, for those who fear him will have all they need. 10 Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing.
2 Corinthians 4:13-18 (NLT) 13 But we continue to preach because we have the same kind of faith the psalmist had when he said, “I believed in God, so I spoke.” 14 We know that God, who raised the Lord Jesus, will also raise us with Jesus and present us to himself together with you. 15 All of this is for your benefit. And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory. 16 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. 17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
