In this heartfelt conversation, host Joel Rosenberg is joined by Gal Lavie, Director of the Founder’s Office at the Joshua Fund and an IDF reservist, to address a devastating tragedy that has shaken both Israel and the United States: the recent murder of two young Israeli diplomats, Yaron Lischinsky and his soon-to-be fiancée, Sarah Milgrim, in Washington, DC. Joel and Gal share personal memories of Yaron—an accomplished, passionate, and peace-driven young man well-respected within Israel's evangelical Christian community. Together, they reflect on the grief and outrage felt by Israelis, the Jewish community, and friends of Israel around the world, and examine the surge in antisemitism that contributed to this horrific act. Joel and Gal place this tragedy within the broader context of ongoing conflict and struggle in the region, discussing not only the personal loss but also the implications for Israeli diplomatic security, the enduring pain of war, and the continued need for prayer, comfort, and solidarity. Listeners are invited to join them in honoring the lives of Yaron and Sarah, supporting their families, and praying for peace and protection for all those affected by this profound loss. This week on Draw Near, we dive into one of the most beloved parables in all of Scripture—the Prodigal Son. But this time, we ask three questions that challenge us to look deeper: How is God's love different from the love we experience from others—or even from ourselves? What does “coming home to the Father” look like in real life? And how do we respond when grace feels... unfair? With humor, vulnerability, and heart, we reflect on the extravagant mercy of God, the wounds we carry in how we love (and fail to love), and the real-life humility it takes to return home—again and again. Whether you relate most to the younger son, the older son, or the waiting father, there's something here for you. This is a read of my latest article- The Soul in the Machine: A Spiritual Reflection on Articficial Intelligence. https://bobhutchins.substack.com/p/the-soul-in-the-machine-a-spiritual The following reflection is taken from my latest Substack piece, The Soul in the Machine, A spiritual reflection on AI. Lately, I've been sitting with some deeper questions—ones that don't always make the headlines but seem to live just beneath them. We're in a strange, significant moment. AI is evolving fast, yes—but so are we. Or at least, we're being invited to. This isn't a post about tech hype or fear. It's about attention. Presence. What we lose or forget when we rush ahead without asking: What is all this doing to us? Not just cognitively, but spiritually, emotionally, relationally. I wrote this as a kind of pause. A chance to reflect—not on whether machines are becoming more human, but whether we're remembering what it means to be fully human ourselves. Thanks for listening.

There's an unfortunate element involved in this great generation of convenience, and that is that thirst and desire for convenience has slipped into our spiritual lives as well. We look for a convenient way to pray, a convenient way to witness, and so on. Because of that, a lot of the church, and the attitudes that are connected to the church, and our Christianity, has become one that is dominated by a certain element of convenience. In thinking about it, I started to wonder what God has to say about that. So, grab your KING JAMES BIBLE, some coffee, and join us as we examine this matter of convenience.
