The death toll is rising after a biblical storm dropped up to 10 inches of rain in a few hours on Hill Country, Texas, pushing the Guadelupe River from 1 foot to more than 34 feet in less than one hour. As Texas reels from the unspeakable loss of more than 80 people - many of them young girls at a popular Christian sleep away camp - the tragic aftermath turns despicably political. MTG pushes a weather modification ban which has us asking: Is that what caused the devastating storm?

From the boardrooms of Google X to the depths of unimaginable grief, Mo Gawdat's journey defies every conventional narrative about success and loss. The former Chief Business Officer, who helped launch Google's operations across half the planet, lost his son Ali in 2014 to a routine operation gone wrong – a tragedy that could have broken him forever. Instead, it became the catalyst for an extraordinary mission: to make one billion people happier.Armed with a mathematician's mind and a mystic's heart, Mo has transformed personal devastation into global purpose. He spent 12 years researching happiness with his son Ali and created a formula that now underpins his bestselling books – Solve for Happy, Scary Smart, and That Little Voice in Your Head – as well as the #OneBillionHappy movement, which has already reached nearly 100 million people. His podcast Slo Mo is a regular #1 Mental Health show in the UK.Whether he's advising governments on tech ethics, writing about AI's sentience in real time, or helping people engineer their way out of despair, Mo is living proof that happiness isn't just wishful thinking – it's a learnable, repeatable skill that can reshape the way you live your life.LESSONS YOU'LL LEARNDeath is transformation, not termination. Mo's mathematical approach to consciousness reveals that our physical form is just an avatar – the real you exists beyond space and time.Emotions are visitors, not residents. Feel them, acknowledge them, embrace them – then ask what action you can take. Wallowing in misery brings no one back and helps no one forward.Follow the happiness flow chart. Three questions can take you from despair to clarity in seven seconds: Is this thought true? Can I fix it? If not, can I accept it and make tomorrow better?Pride is pointless, gratitude is everything. When you recognise how much of your success came from blessings beyond your control, humility becomes your superpower and service becomes your calling.Your crisis is not your conclusion. The worst moment of Mo's life became the launching pad for the most meaningful work he's ever done – proving that rock bottom can be the foundation for everything that comes next.----Host: Andy CoulsonCWC team: Jane Sankey, Hana Walker-Brown, Mabel Pickering and Rex FisherWith special thanks to Ioana Barbu and the brilliant people at GlobalFor all PR and guest approaches please contact – podcast@coulsonpartners.com
On this episode of Wife of Crime I'm telling Russ the harrowing and tragic case of Judy Malinowski. In 2015 Judy was in a volatile relationship with her boyfriend Mike Slager. One afternoon while stopping at a gas station for cigarettes the two of them get into a fight and Mike pours gasoline on Judy and sets her on fire! Over the next 2 years she would fight through unfathomable pain to stay alive. She not only changed the law in Ohio but would be the first person in US history to testify in her own murder trial! Sam Jones is today's guest, he's the President and Co-founder of the Heartland Initiative and was recently in town from Atlanta in the US. His work at Heartland Initiative focuses on helping investors understand and address human rights issues and related risks within their investment portfolios. He develops methods, tools, and guidance to assist investors in preventing and reducing harm to human rights through their investments.Sam has over 25 years of experience in areas like Conflict-sensitive research, analysis, and program management, International humanitarian and human rights law and Working with multiple groups on these issues. In a world seemingly in perpetual states of skirmish through to outright war, what this means for organisations with globalised supply and financial value chains, this matters and can very quickly become a problem of material consequence. Yet how businesses think about geopolitical risk and conflict has a long way to go in maturation. Sam is one of the world's foremost experts on how adverse human rights impacts converge with conflict and present risks to businesses. Before co-founding Heartland Initiative, Sam worked at The Carter Centre where he managed programs in the Middle East and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a focus on corporate responsibility for human rights harms. Earlier, Sam cut his teeth as a regional representative for Asia at Counterpart International, where he managed humanitarian and development programs in Iraq and Jordan and led assessment missions to places like the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Lebanon, and Afghanistan. His career to date and the set of experiences he has accrued are remarkable and rare. This conversation was an eye opener for me and where we explored conflict zones, assessing human rights risks and harms, the role of investors and corporate actors in respecting the human rights of people right around the globe, how heightened conflict, record levels of migration, weakening international institutions, the climate crisis and profoundly powerful technologies are converging to re-shape the lives and safety of billions of people globally. We cover a lot of territory here. This is a masterclass from Sam whose expertise and relatability are a rare combination to learn from. His experiences in conflict zones is unlike anything I've heard before, including his five years in Iraq from 2003 to 2008.Get out your note book or app and get ready for insights and lessons galore. Sam's work offers a way for all of us to understand the world a little better, to appreciate how megatrends affect real people and what we can do as employees in organisations to protect, respect and remediate human rights right around the world.Events are live and more are coming - follow on Humanitix.Follow on LinkedIn, Substack and Instagram. God's love, as revealed in the Book of Hosea, is characterized by three remarkable qualities: it is undeserving, unrelenting, and unimaginable. Through Hosea's relationship with his unfaithful wife Gomer, God illustrates His enduring love for Israel despite their spiritual adultery. In Hosea 11, God describes His love using three powerful metaphors: a father's love for a son, a husband's love for a wife, and a shepherd's care for sheep. Even when we reject God's love and face consequences, His heart breaks for us. The message culminates in the simple yet profound truth that God's love never wavers—there's nothing we can do to make Him love us more or less.

What do you do when the life you built—the love, the plans, the future—gets ripped away without warning? When the person you were supposed to grow old with is taken, and you're left not only grieving but parenting through the pain? In this episode, Danny Lesslie opens up about walking through the darkest season of his life: losing his wife Raffe after a five-year battle with cancer. He doesn't hold back. Danny shares the raw truth about grief, fatherhood, and how the storm inside him became fuel for healing. If you've ever wrestled with loss, purpose, or the weight of simply showing up—this conversation will meet you right where you are.But Danny isn't here to tell a “poor me” story—he's here to serve. Named an Apogee honor man, Danny is a man of deep courage, faith, and conviction. He's turned pain into purpose, writing a book with God's presence through it all. What makes him uniquely powerful is his willingness to be seen—messy, broken, real—and still lead others forward. This isn't just a story of heartbreak. It's a story of hope, of what's possible when we choose to feel everything and use it to love deeper, lead better, and live fuller.Quotes:"All this that we're going to talk about today... I didn't come on here to give you a poor me thing. I came on here to serve you and speak light into this darkness." - Danny Lesslie"People are worth your effort. People are worth everything - your job, your trophies, your money, your house... all the things that we strive for are so hollow and they just go away." - Danny Lesslie"If you're not moving from purpose, you can't weather the storms that show up." - Danny LesslieTakeaways:Grief doesn't follow rules—so stop trying to manage it. Danny shows that healing begins not with control, but with surrender. Whether through writing, walking with a weighted vest, or just allowing himself to cry, he finds strength by facing the pain instead of avoiding it.Your pain can serve others—if you let it. Rather than hiding his story, Danny uses it to bring light into other people's darkness. His vulnerability becomes a gift, proving that being real is more powerful than being strong.Presence is everything. From being with his wife through her final days to parenting his kids alone, Danny reminds us that showing up—fully and honestly—is more impactful than having all the answers.Life will burn down—build anyway. Whether it's love, faith, or legacy, Danny challenges us to invest in what matters now, because everything we have is temporary. He turns loss into a call to live with fierce intention. Conclusion:This episode is a powerful reminder that even in the face of unimaginable loss, we have a choice—to go numb, or to feel deeply and move forward with purpose. Danny Lesslie's story is not just about grief; it's about resilience, love, and living with intention. His honesty, strength, and unwavering commitment to honoring his wife's legacy show us what it truly means to lead from the heart. If you're walking through darkness, let this conversation be a light. And if you're not, let it be your wake-up call to love harder, show up fully, and stop wasting time on things that don't matter.

That is the task before all of us. Like Marcus, we can choose to steady ourselves in wisdom, to seek refuge in philosophy, to lean on those who guide us.

We are receiving inspiration all the time, but we're actually acting on very little of it. That's because fear always pops up whenever you receive inspiration. But when you act on the inspiration, it will lead you step by step, breadcrumb by breadcrumb to everything you truly want. What is that? It's unimaginable from where you are now. That's why you can't ever imagine what might happen when you start acting on more inspiration. Get the new Manifestation Event form here. Take the Life-Area perspective quiz.
What do we say to someone who is walking through the unimaginable—the loss of a child, a devastating diagnosis, the fallout from a natural disaster? What happens when that tragedy enters our own lives? On today's episode of Fearless I had the honor of sitting down with Dr. Lee Warren—neurosurgeon, author, and Iraq war veteran—to talk about how to choose hope and find joy again, even in the face of unimaginable loss. Dr. Lee knows pain intimately. After battling through severe PTSD from his time serving as a surgeon in Iraq, he lost his son in a tragic act of violence. How did Dr. Lee and his family choose to move forward in faith despite every reason to give into doubt and turn away from God? Dr. Lee and I talk about the process of choosing hope, the science behind two things being true at the same time, and when (and if) joy can come back into our lives after we go through trauma. Despite everything he's walked through, Dr. Lee has found purpose in suffering, and we can too. My hope is that this conversation will serve as a reminder of God's unwavering presence in the midst of sorrow and evidence that healing is possible—even after the most profound losses.Purchase Dr. Lee's book, Hope Is The First Dose, wherever books are sold! I don't often do a solo podcast but God has been working on my heart when it comes to parenting teens and expectations and I felt prompted to sit down and share what I am learning with you all. So often as parents, we live in a worst-case scenario mindset, when it feels like the dreams and expectations for a child's future are not aligning with the present. We obsess over baby monitors, teen friendships, and grades/sports but this comes from a place of worry, or even fear-based control. God wants freedom and hope in our parenting! I realized I have a choice: to believe in an imagined bad scenario or to flip a switch and choose hope and expect in God for unimaginable good things to come. Both choices involve belief, imagination and control. I'm choosing to double down turn my belief toward hope, knowing that even when things don't go as planned, God's story is far greater. In this episode, I will share the steps God gave me to practically practice choosing hope over worry. How to walk with the Spirit and produce fruit instead of formula-based parenting rooted in power and control. Reminding my own heart that God is good and has a good story for our kids- let's lean into the HUGE expectation that God is the God of HOPE and let our prayers align with that truth.
