The Grassy Knoll wasn't empty—it was crowded with killers. This episode features restored audio from 12 witnesses the FBI swore didn't exist, including a Secret Service agent who admits the limo driver braked intentionally and a Dallas nurse who saw JFK's body altered before autopsy. Hear the screams of Jean Hill, the teacher chased by CIA agents after filming the shooters, and learn how the FBI forged her testimony. With 3D-reconstructed bullet trajectories proving the “Magic Bullet” was a lie, this is the irrefutable evidence of a conspiracy.

This week, The Sleepless Cinematic Podcast joins forces with Down the Yellow Brick Pod hosts Emily Kay Shrader and Tara Tagliaferro, two of the world's leading experts on all things Oz, to discuss one of the more bizarro films ever to be influenced by 1939's classic 'The Wizard of Oz' - the third and final installment of John Waters' trash trilogy, 1977's 'Desperate Living'.  Emily and Tara come to this film with plenty of Oz-related background, and weigh in on several of the homages that Waters seems to have snuck into this film: a demented "Over the Rainbow", dropped "houses", an "effed-up" Oz/Munchkinland, witches wreaking havoc, villains having a lot of fun, and much, much more!  Please check out our conversation with Emily and Tara on Down the Yellow Brick Pod about 2018's 'Crazy Rich Asians' and the Oz-related themes that its director John M. Chu, who's directing the theatrical release of 'Wicked', managed to knowingly or unknowingly incorporate.   If you like what you heard, please follow us and rate/review this podcast favorably on your platform of choice.  It really does help us find new listeners!Follow us on IG and Tik Tok @sleeplesscinematicpodSend us an email at sleeplesscinematicpod@gmail.comOn Letterboxd?  Follow Julian at julian_barthold and Madeline at patronessofcats.

"I look into my future and all I see is a long, dark hallway... and no exits." We watched Polyester (1981) with the hilarious Drew Droege and we're ready to eat an entire cake in one sitting. The legendary John Waters takes us on a melodramatic trip through the suburbs by way of the famous "Women's Pictures" directed by Douglas Sirk.  We take a peek behind the velvet curtains and French Provincial decor of the 'burbs with Divine, who gives a stellar performance as Francine Fishpaw, the put upon wife of a filandering pornographer, mother of juvenile delinquents and daughter of a social climbing snob. Francine's oversensitive nose plays a key role in her already fragile mental state and the gimmick of Odorama was developed for the original screenings. Where else but a John Waters picture could you get a scratch-and-sniff card with such fragrances as Roses, Flatulence, Gasoline and New car smell? Polyester may have been Waters' first foray into "mainstream cinema" but all his usuals are there; Mink Stole as the sass-mouth other woman, Edith Massey as Francine's nouveau riche former housekeeper, and Jean Hill as a tire biting gospel singer. We can't forget the absolute dreamboat Tab Hunter as sleazy lothario Todd Tomorrow. Polyester is as tacky as late '70s/early '80s houshold decor and we can't get enough of it. The Secret Service Fired The Shot That Killed JFK - Polls show that the majority of Americans doubt the Warren Commission's finding that Lee Harvey Oswald was the lone assassin of President John F. Kennedy. Two important new books may now be added to the list of conspiracy accounts. Jean Hill, the "lady in red" in the famous Zapruder film, was within ten feet of the presidential limousine and is the last surviving eyewitness to dispute the commission's verdict. Her story, written with Sloan, is absolutely spellbinding. After hearing the second gunshot, Hill saw a puff of smoke near the wooden fence at the top of the infamous grassy knoll. A shadowy figure of a man holding a rifle was barely visible to her. She saw another man, whom she later identified as Jack Ruby, run toward the "shooter." As she began to pursue Ruby, two alleged Secret Service agents stopped her and confiscated the Polaroid photographs of the motorcade a friend had taken moments before. The photos were never seen again. From then on, Hill's life became nightmarish: she endured a series of humiliating FBI interrogations, her surveillance by the FBI lasted for months, and her automobile was tampered with. Hill has never wavered in her convictions about what she saw that day and offers convincing testimony. Mortal Error , while much more technical in content, is another fascinating account of what happened in Dallas. Menninger skillfully summarizes the research findings of ballistics expert Howard Donahue, who spent 25 years reexamining Warren Commission evidence, the Zapruder film, and other materials. Donahue's startling conclusion is that the fatal headshot was accidentally fired by special agent George Hickey, who was in the car behind Kennedy's. Donahue shows where the Warren Commission went wrong in its original interpretations and answers critics who question the "pristine" bullet anomaly. Donahue initially wondered why a ballistics expert was not called upon during the initial investigation. He now believes that Robert Kennedy, among others, did not want this tragic accident to become known. Donahue's findings were published in the Baltimore Sun in 1977 but engendered no follow-up studies by government officials. While many questions remain, these two books are substantial additions to the field and both are highly recommended for most libraries. His collection includes over 430 books and manuscripts, over 500 hours of audio and video (including the Dallas Police tapes and Air Force One transmissions), and thousands of newspaper and magazine articles. He has met and/or interviewed Marina Oswald (accused assassin Lee Harvey Oswald's widow), assassination witnesses Charles Brehm, Jean Hill, James Tague and Phil Willis, Dallas Police officers H.B. McLain and Jim Leavelle (the detective handcuffed to Oswald when he was shot by Jack Ruby), FBI and CIA agents and officials, and many other authors and researchers. Owen has authored several articles for the research journals The Third and Fourth Decade. He lectures regularly on the assassination and has spoken at the annual JFK Lancer November in Dallas conference. He is a recipient of the JFK Lancer New Frontier and Legacy awards. In November 2010, Owen launched a JFK Assassination Photo Chronology website, putting the the known photographs taken in Dealey Plaza immediately before, during and after the shooting in chronological order. He is currently working on a similar film chronology and maintains a general interest in most aspects of the murder. *** AND NOW *** The ‘X' Zone TV Channel on SimulTV - www.simultv.com The ‘X' Zone TV Channel Radio Feed (Free - No Subscription Required) - https://www.spreaker.com/show/xztv-the-x-zone-tv-show-audio The ‘X' Chronicles Newspaper - www.xchroniclesnewspaper.com (Free) To contact Rob McConnell - misterx@xzoneradiotv.com

An in depth tutorial and discussion around the assassination of John F. Kennedy, (JFK) the country's 35th president who was brutally murdered in Dallas Texas on November 22, 1963.Episode 35 is the fifth  episode in  our journey into the mysterious world of the Grassy Knoll and the idea of a conspiracy.  This fifth  episode  covers Jean Hill and Mary Mormon, two ladies who traveled together that day to view the motorcade.  Mary Mormon, with her Polaroid camera,  took one of the most important photos related to the assassination, and Jean Hill  is one of the most colorful witnesses in this story, given what she saw that day. Both of these ladies were among the handful of witness that were closest to the presidential limousine at the time of the shots and they  were discovered by the media almost immediately.  They  told their eyewitness accounts that day  for the world to hear,  and thereby became spokespeople for the eyewitness horror of the assassination.  In these  episodes, we evaluate an array of evidence and testimony regarding the possible presence of  other gunman  that  fired from locations other than the Texas School Book  Depository building.  We also  begin to explore  an array of matters that   dive into a deeper  darkness  related to what  went on that day in Dallas,  matters   that possibly point  to a  wider  and more sinister  plot to kill the president.   Complex cases without  an eyewitness that can actually identify the shooter make the forensic and circumstantial evidence that much more important.  Ironically, problems abound with much of the evidence in this case. Evidence that is complex, incomplete and sometimes conflicting. Even as early as 1964, rumors and serious concerns over  the lone gunman theory and the evidence that might contravene it,  were becoming a major concern for the government and the commission. Conspiracy theories were contrary to the government's stated narrative from the very beginning. Stay tuned as there are many more episodes to come! This series comprehensively explores the major facts,  themes, and  events leading up to the assassination in Dealey Plaza and the equally gripping stories surrounding the subsequent investigation. We  review  key elements of the Warren Commission Report , and the role of the CIA and FBI. We explore the  possible involvement of the Mafia in the murder and the review of that topic by the government's House Select Committee on Assassinations in the 1970's. We explore the Jim Garrison investigation and the work of other key figures such as Mark Lane and others. Learn more about Lee Harvey Oswald the suspected killer and Jack Ruby the distraught Dallas night club owner with underworld ties and the man that killed Oswald as a national TV audience was watching.  Stay with us as we take you through the facts and theories in bite sized discussions that are designed to educate, and inform as well as entertain the audience. This  real life story is more fascinating than fiction. No matter whether you are a serious researcher or a casual student, you will enjoy the fact filled narrative and story as  we relive one of the most shocking moments in American History. An event that changed the nation and changed the world forever.Episode is LivePublished: Jun. 20, 2021 @10PM EditUnpublishAdd a TranscriptGet episode better indexed by search engines.Add Chapter Markers
