In this sermon from Mark 11:1-11, Pastor Jim explores Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. He highlights five key aspects of Jesus' character: His courageous obedience in facing the cross, His divine knowledge of all things, His genuine humility in riding a donkey, His profound worthiness of praise, and His loving compassion as He wept over Jerusalem. The sermon emphasizes that Jesus entered Jerusalem not as a conquering king but as the sacrificial Lamb of God who would defeat humanity's true enemies: sin, death, Satan, and hell. Please let us know if you are watching our stream for the first time, if you have made a decision, or need prayer – text CONNECT to (941) 260-1395 or click here: https://form.church/connectionClick here if you would like to give online: https://subsplash.com/u/-QJD4RD/giveMusic used with permission, CCLI License # 594759, Streaming Plus License # 21044022

The Exodus Way E9 — All four gospel accounts build anticipation for Jesus to accomplish a new kind of exodus when he arrives in Jerusalem. But later in the gospel narratives, Jesus begins telling his disciples that he will be arrested and killed in Jerusalem before rising on the third day. So Jesus journeys to Jerusalem and confronts the religious establishment—notably only days before Passover! And before his arrest, he shares a Passover meal with his disciples and shockingly reinterprets the bread and wine to be about his coming death. What is Jesus doing, and how is his death related to the climactic Exodus event of Passover? In this episode, Jon and Tim trace the Holy Week story leading up to Passover and explore how Jesus' death fulfills the cosmic Exodus story of the Bible. Jesus had been teaching, healing and doing miracles throughout Galilee. So, when Jesus entered Jerusalem the people were asking if he was the promised one of God to come. But come to do what?Copyright, Dave Andrus 2025
Mary anoints Jesus' feet with costly perfume, a heartfelt act foreshadowing His burial, while Judas objects, exposing his greed. Crowds gather in Bethany to see Jesus and Lazarus, leading the chief priests to plot Lazarus' death. As Jesus enters Jerusalem riding a donkey, fulfilling prophecy, the crowds wave palm branches and shout "Hosanna," hailing Him as King. Meanwhile, the Pharisees despair at His growing influence, as this moment of triumph foreshadows His sacrificial mission. Rev. Dr. Richard Davenport, pastor of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Smith, AR, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study John 12:1-19. The Gospel of John takes us on a journey through the Good News of Jesus in a unique way. It reveals Jesus as the incarnate son of God from eternity. From His miraculous signs to His profound "I Am" statements, we witness Jesus offering living water to the thirsty, light to those in darkness, and life to the dead. But this is also a story of conflict: Jesus is relentlessly pursued by those who reject Him, yet He willingly goes to the cross, showing the depths of God's love. As we travel from His first miracle to His ultimate victory over death, John invites us to see and believe—that in Jesus, we find eternal life and the very presence of God among us. Connect to God's revealing Word in this series that uncovers the rich, layered truths of John's Gospel and the unshakable hope it offers. Thy Strong Word, hosted by Rev. Dr. Phil Booe, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church of Luverne, MN, reveals the light of our salvation in Christ through study of God's Word, breaking our darkness with His redeeming light. Each weekday, two pastors fix our eyes on Jesus by considering Holy Scripture, verse by verse, in order to be strengthened in the Word and be equipped to faithfully serve in our daily vocations. John 12:1-13 1 Jesus, therefore, six days before the Passover, came to Bethany where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. 2 So they made Him a supper there, and Martha was serving; but Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with Him. 3 Mary then took a pound of very costly perfume of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. 4 But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, who was intending to betray Him, said, 5 “Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and given to poor people?” 6 Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box, he used to pilfer what was put into it. 7 Therefore Jesus said, “Let her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of My burial. 8 “For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have Me.” 9 The large crowd of the Jews then learned that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He raised from the dead. 10 But the chief priests planned to put Lazarus to death also; 11 because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and were believing in Jesus.Jesus Enters Jerusalem 12 On the next day the large crowd who had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13 took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet Him, and began to shout, “Hosanna! BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, even the King of Israel.” New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update. 1995. La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation.

It is Resurrection season and we begin our new series “Journey to the Cross” with Jesus locked in on entering into Jerusalem to finish the mission. It all begins with excitement as people celebrate His entering the city with shouts of Hosanna. But that will quickly fade as the confrontation with the city leadership escalates with Him ruining their nefarious money making enterprise. Jesus, the people, and those in power making the money all know of the corruption. As Jesus cleanses the Temple of the corruption, this becomes the first of multiple confrontations that will lead to the His execution on a cross for the sins of mankind. ———————————————————————————————Connect with us on Social Media:Website: nbcc.com/Facebook: facebook.com/nbccnorcoInstagram: instagram.com/nbccnorcoYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6S-3n9PVnXm8zSPHAYVyGw----------------------------------------If you have any prayer requests or questions, please message us on our social media or send us an email at hello@nbcc.com. In part 1 of our Secrets of the Kingdom series, Mike Linch explains that Jesus wants to rule in our hearts as our King.
Jesus enters Jerusalem riding a donkey. Why did he choose a donkey and not a horse? Kings who were coming ready for war rode a horse. Kings who were coming in peace rode a donkey. Jesus is called the “Prince of Peace” and he has been peaceful since the beginning. However, after entering Jerusalem, he goes to the Temple and isn't so peaceful as he wreaks havoc on those selling animals to make sacrifices. He overturns their money tables and releases the animals while scolding the religious leaders because of their hard hearts. On the way to the Temple he had cursed a fig tree and it withered from the roots of. It's a picture of the state of Jerusalem who has rejected the very Messiah that has come to deliver them.

Jesus weeps over His city, but goes to the cross anyway.
A crowd gathers with palms to see Jesus enter Jerusalem on a donkey. Although their hopes and dreams culminated in this moment they didn't know or understand who Jesus really was. The life Jesus promised starts with believing in Him for who he said he is and not our assumptions of what we want him to be.
Jesus Enters Jerusalem to Die (John 12:1-19) - Morning Sermon
For 5 weeks in our Passion Series, we are going to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ during the last week of his life. This week begins with Palm Sunday and is referred to as Holy Week. Jesus ultimately dies on Good Friday and rises from the dead 3 days later on Easter. But, before we can celebrate Easter, we will experience Jesus' “Passion,” which is His suffering born out of love for us. You can journey along with us in the Gospel of Mark, which covers the last 8 days of Jesus' life in its final 6 chapters. In this message, we start with what happened on Palm Sunday - the first day of the final week. This is when Jesus made His triumphal entry into Jerusalem. It's important to know that Jesus knew exactly what was going to happen to him this week. Three times, he told his disciples that he was going to Jerusalem to suffer and die. But, what ends in a crucifixion begins as a coronation of a king - King Jesus! When Jesus entered Jerusalem, he rode into the city on a donkey and people spread palm branches on the road which they had cut in the fields (why we call this day Palm Sunday). They were celebrating His arrival. But, the Pharisees (religious leaders) were threatened by Jesus and so this is when they begin to come up with a plan to falsely accuse Jesus and secretly arrest him and ultimately have him sentenced to death. It's important for Christ followers to understand the journey of Jesus and the suffering He endured for us… so together let's learn about the week that changed the world. Watch this message from Pastor Tim Lucas, and learn about Holy Week, the most sacred 7 days in Christianity. #Passion #PalmSunday #HolyWeek #GospelofMark #Jesus #Christianity #ChristianChurch #LiquidChurch
