At 10PM, across all networks, the President of the United States Franklin D. Roosevelt, took to the air with a special prayer for the invading troops. Thirty-Five million Americans tuned in. It was the most-listened to broadcast of any kind which aired in 1944. At 10:15 Bob Hope took to the air with a special D-Day Broadcast. This is FDR's D-Day Prayer below: My fellow Americans: Last night, when I spoke with you about the fall of Rome, I knew at that moment that troops of the United States and our allies were crossing the Channel in another and greater operation. It has come to pass with success thus far. And so, in this poignant hour, I ask you to join with me in prayer: Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our Nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity. Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith. They will need Thy blessings. Their road will be long and hard. For the enemy is strong. He may hurl back our forces. Success may not come with rushing speed, but we shall return again and again; and we know that by Thy grace, and by the righteousness of our cause, our sons will triumph. They will be sore tried, by night and by day, without rest-until the victory is won. The darkness will be rent by noise and flame. Men's souls will be shaken with the violences of war. For these men are lately drawn from the ways of peace. They fight not for the lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest. They fight to liberate. They fight to let justice arise, and tolerance and good will among all Thy people. They yearn but for the end of battle, for their return to the haven of home. Some will never return. Embrace these, Father, and receive them, Thy heroic servants, into Thy kingdom. And for us at home - fathers, mothers, children, wives, sisters, and brothers of brave men overseas - whose thoughts and prayers are ever with them - help us, Almighty God, to rededicate ourselves in renewed faith in Thee in this hour of great sacrifice. Many people have urged that I call the Nation into a single day of special prayer. But because the road is long and the desire is great, I ask that our people devote themselves in a continuance of prayer. As we rise to each new day, and again when each day is spent, let words of prayer be on our lips, invoking Thy help to our efforts. Give us strength, too - strength in our daily tasks, to redouble the contributions we make in the physical and the material support of our armed forces. And let our hearts be stout, to wait out the long travail, to bear sorrows that may come, to impart our courage unto our sons wheresoever they may be. And, O Lord, give us Faith. Give us Faith in Thee; Faith in our sons; Faith in each other; Faith in our united crusade. Let not the keenness of our spirit ever be dulled. Let not the impacts of temporary events, of temporal matters of but fleeting moment let not these deter us in our unconquerable purpose. With Thy blessing, we shall prevail over the unholy forces of our enemy. Help us to conquer the apostles of greed and racial arrogancies. Lead us to the saving of our country, and with our sister Nations into a world unity that will spell a sure peace a peace invulnerable to the schemings of unworthy men. And a peace that will let all of men live in freedom, reaping the just rewards of their honest toil. Thy will be done, Almighty God. Amen.

Getting our hands dirty is not a new idea. A strong connection to soil has always been critical for human thriving. Around 12,000 years ago, our hunter-gatherer ancestors started transitioning into a farming culture. Growing crops became a reliable and sustainable way to access high-quality food. Besides the nutritional benefits, gardening has been shown to improve our well-being in many ways. Studies have shown that time spent gardening can increase physical activity, offer a tangible sense of purpose, and reduce the risk of cognitive decline. Some research has shown that regular gardening may assist in reducing the risk of dementia by up to 50%.Therapeutic horticulture programs have been used in hospitals for many years, increasing satisfaction and reducing stress, which can reduce healing times. Contact with specific bacteria in the soil, called Mycobacterium vaccae, releases serotonin in the brain, which serves as a natural anti-depressant and strengthens the immune system. According to a 2021 National Gardening Association study, over 18 million people became new gardeners, and existing gardeners spent 47% more time with their hands in the dirt. Originally filmed as part of the Tales From The Darkside television series, the teleplay was then reproduced in the 1993 short story collection, Nightmares and Dreamscapes. [click, static] Anyway, all to say that if there's any way to have been even more ignorant of the events of the world than we were in that time...I have a hard time imagining it. [click, static] I've tried, so many times over the years, to think back on those weeks and really try to remember anything that was off—a sound, a flash of light, a smell on the air, anything. All I can remember are the dreams—the nightmares—that I was having. And those were about—well, it was obvious what they were about. It has nothing to do with...well, with anything. [click, static] I wonder if it even matters anymore. [click, static] There are those times I wonder if we did experience it happening— whatever it was—and we just didn't think about it at the time because it's what gave us the opportunity we had. [click, static] Maybe I've said that before. It's hard to know what thoughts are the same ones that have been running around in my head forever and what thoughts are the ones I'm actually saying aloud. Like sometimes you'll have a conversation with someone in your dream and then the next day be talking to that very same person only to realize that you're referencing a conversation with them that never actually happened. [click, static] I've had so many conversations with Harry in my dreams. Those ones are usually pretty obviously not real though. [click, static] But this is a little like that, you and me. A conversation and not. Speaking my thoughts aloud while you're limited to three word sentences, forced to listen to me ramble on about nothing at all. They contain counsel that was very pertinent to the saints at that time. We'll talk about the importance of receiving revelation and being close to the Spirit. Knowing what the Lord wants you to do in your life today is heavily dependent upon your ability to understand the voice of the Holy Ghost to you. We'll also review the concept of starting small when making significant changes. Long-term change is best achieved through small, consistent forward movement. We will also discuss the idea that what we often believe is tragedy can simply be part of the Lord's plan to change us from our weak, natural state to women and men after the manner of Christ.
