Bill & Roger welcome you to Extraordinary Living and introduce their special guest this week, Pastor Roger Beach of Riverside Cowboy Church (Nevada, Missouri), who shares that you can't walk like Jesus if you don't truly know and understand Him through God's Word. Using his ranching and horsemanship background, he explains how ingrained traits and "DNA" can lead you to live like your earthly father rather than in your identity in Christ, and he urges you to train up the next generation and yield more to your spirit than your flesh. He reads John 1:1–5, 14 to show Jesus is the Word from the beginning, and connects it to Genesis 1:26–28 about being made in God's image, emphasizing growth beyond salvation and living by the Holy Spirit. He applies Scripture to everyday issues like finances (tithing) and marriage, and the episode closes with an invitation to accept Jesus (Romans 3:23; Romans 5:8) and a salvation prayer. In Romans 5:1-5, we see that following Jesus gives us more than the promise of eternity... it changes how we live right now. Because of Jesus, we gain peace with God, access to His grace, purpose in our struggles, and a hope that will never fail. This message reminds us that suffering is not wasted in God's hands, but used to build endurance, character, and deeper faith. If you've ever wondered what you actually gain when you follow Jesus, this passage gives a clear and powerful answer.Connect with us!Missioncity.church
How God Brings People to Jesus (Romans 10:5-21) God is sovereign, but He doesn't expect believers to be passive. In this message on Romans 10, Pastor Jason Van Bemmel explains how God uses "ordinary means"—like human effort and preaching—to accomplish His will and save the lost. ________________________________________ Key Takeaways • The Nature of True Faith: Saving faith requires both the internal possession of belief in Christ's resurrection and a credible external confession that "Jesus is Lord". • What "Lord" Means: Confessing Jesus as Lord implies He is YaHWeH in human flesh, your Master/Ruler, and the King to whom you owe your highest allegiance. • The Gospel Chain: Salvation follows a specific sequence: people must be sent, they must preach, and the lost must hear before they can believe and call upon the Lord. • Human Responsibility: No one has an excuse for unbelief. God has revealed Himself through creation and His Word, and He holds individuals responsible for their stubbornness and disobedience. • The Mission: Reaching the lost is not just for "professionals"; every Christian is called to herald the Good News or support those who do. Stop waiting for a sign from heaven—God has already brought the Word near to you. It's time to believe, call on Him, and go.
What if the resurrection of Jesus Christ is actually true? This Easter message from Pastor Marion Dalton explores one of the most important questions you will ever face: What if it's not just a story—but reality? Because if Jesus truly rose from the dead, it changes everything about your life, your purpose, and your eternity. In this powerful and thought-provoking sermon, you'll discover the historical evidence behind the resurrection, why hundreds of eyewitnesses stood by their testimony even unto death, and what it means for you today. This isn't blind faith—this is a life-altering truth that has stood the test of time. If the resurrection is real, then the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to transform your life right now.

Common questions on this age old topic: ⁃ Why is sin so tempting? ⁃ Why do I do things I don't want to do? ⁃ How can I conquer temptation? ⁃ Where can I find strength to resist? ⁃ Why is this so difficult? Genesis 3:1-7 - First sin in the Bible. But prior to sin, Adam and Eve were in a time of blissful innocence. A perfect creation, perfect relationship with God, perfect relationship with each other. No death, no sorrow, no pain, but that would change once sin came. Who is the serpent in Genesis 3:1? We find the answer in Revelation 12:9 "The great dragon was hurled down - that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray." Satan is a Hebrew word meaning - the adversary, the enemy. And the serpent takes on the form of a serpent. We read what Jesus says about the devil in John 8:44 that the devil "was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies." Satan's Garden Strategy ⁃ Doubt God's Word - Genesis 3:1 the devil says to Eve "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?" The devil plants doubt. Eve replies in Genesis 3:2-3 that they could eat fruit from the trees except not from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, lest they would die. ⁃ Deny the consequences - Then the devil replies in Genesis 3:4 "'You will not certainly die,' the serpent said to the woman." The devil moves her toward denying the consequences. ⁃ Deify ourselves - The devil continues in Genesis 3:5 "'For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.'" We want to be in control instead of allow God to be. Then we read in Genesis 3:6 "When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her and he ate it." From this we learn that temptation comes with: Passion - I want things that I like and that look good Pleasure - I want things that give me joy and comfort Pride - I want to be in control 1 John 2:16 we read, "For everything in the world - the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life - does not come from the Father but from the world." Our story continues in Genesis 3:7 "Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made a covering for themselves." They now understood good and evil, their eyes were opened to evil and they had shame, sorrow, loss, pain, suffering, guilt. Sin took away their blissful innocence. What happened next? Then we read in Genesis 3:21 "The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them." What does this tell us? It tells us that sin brought death to an innocent victim - an animal was slain - and it shows us sin has a consequence - Sin must be paid for by an innocent victim - and this is a foreshadowing of the Lamb of God - Jesus - who would lay down His life on a cross for us, because we all have fallen for the devil's garden strategy. 1 Corinthians 10:13 "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." Confronting Temptation: ⁃ Remember Jesus, who He is and what He did - 2 Timothy 2:8 We are to keep our eyes focused on Jesus ⁃ Resist the devil and he will flee from you - James 4:7 ⁃ Run from temptation and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace - 2 Timothy 2:22 ⁃ Replace our focus on the things that destroy with the things that build us up. We are not to focus on the things that are tempting, but rather we should focus on what God's word says. Let His word take root in our lives because God's word give us power and strength, direction and guidance- Psalm 119:11 ⁃ Rely on the Holy Spirit who leads us to faith and brings to mind the teachings of Jesus - Romans 8:6 Pastor closes with a beautiful hymn that his mother taught him. Feeling overwhelmed when you don’t know what to do? This devotional reflection centers on 2 Chronicles 20:12, where King Jehoshaphat faces an impossible battle and responds with humility, prayer, and complete dependence on God. When fear rises and answers feel out of reach, Scripture reminds us that fixing our eyes on God invites His power, peace, and deliverance into our circumstances. Through Judah’s story, we see how seeking the Lord first, admitting weakness, and trusting God’s sovereignty transforms fear into faith—and reminds us that the battle ultimately belongs to Him. Highlights Fear is often the moment God invites us to deeper dependence Jehoshaphat chose prayer and fasting instead of panic Admitting “we don’t know what to do” is an act of faith, not failure God responds when His people seek Him with honesty and humility Worship came before victory, not after Faith fixes our eyes on God, even when fear is present The battle is God’s, but obedience is ours Do you want to listen ad-free? For we are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” - 2 Chronicles 20:12 ESV One afternoon, as I flipped open my Bible, my eyes landed on 2 Chronicles 20:12. As I reread the entire chapter, I was struck by what I uncovered in that passage. Picture this. The tribe of Judah receives word that three different armies, the Ammonites, Moabites, and those from Mount Seir, are plotting to attack them. When God’s people first entered the land, He had not allowed them to conquer Ammon, Moab, or Mount Seir (see Deut. 2). And now? The enemy was coming for God’s people. Not one. Or two. But three powerful armies. King Jehoshaphat, the king reigning over Judah at the time, was afraid. He was the leader. Perhaps he was even expected to have all the answers to protect Judah from this threat. But you know what struck me the most? As we read the passage, we notice the Scripture says, “Then Jehoshaphat was afraid and set his face to seek the Lord” (v. 3). In addition, he proclaimed a fast throughout all of Judah. In the midst of fear, he turned to God and encouraged others to do the same. As I read that, I was instantly convicted. If a nation’s king could lead with such humility and grace, should not each of us respond the same? Yes, when Jehoshaphat saw that these armies were coming, he was afraid. How many of us can say the same? How many of us see something, are afraid, but then set our face to seek the Lord? How many times have I done that? Not as much as I wish. Think about it. Usually, so many of us are afraid and run to numb that fear. We often numb fear - whether through distractions or endless scrolling - instead of seeking God. It doesn’t really matter how we numb our fear. The fact is, we all have all been tempted to turn to something other than God when we are afraid. If we try to numb our fear with anything other than God, we will come away dissatisfied. Only God can truly satisfy us and give us peace. Turn to God. Not only did Jehoshaphat set his face to seek the Lord in his fear, but he chose honesty instead of what made him look good. He was upfront and honest with all of Judah, sharing in his prayer to God, “For we are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you” (v. 12). He could’ve tried to appear strong, like he had all the answers. But he openly and freely admitted he didn’t. This was a fix only God could get them out of. In essence, he was saying, “God needs to do this. God needs to work because I can’t.” And then, he sought the Lord in prayer and encouraged all of Judah to seek the Lord with him. His dependence on God is what defined his leadership and set an example for the people. In addition, I noticed that Jehoshaphat recognized God’s sovereignty. In the beginning of his prayer in verse 6, he says, "O LORD, God of our fathers, are you not God in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. In your hand are power and might, so that none is able to withstand you." He recognized that God was sovereign and the only one who could save them. Second, he clung to God’s promises, recalling how the Lord had given them the land (v. 7-9) and trusting He could deliver them again. But even though God already knows everything, the Lord loves it when we share our hearts with Him. Finally, Jehoshaphat begged God to execute judgment on their enemies. “For we are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you” (v. 12). Guess what happened next? The Spirit of the Lord came upon a man named Jehaziel, and he said (v. 15). “Thus says the Lord to you, ‘Do not be afraid, and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God’s'”. He goes on to give 3 specific instructions. Stand firm. Hold your position. See the salvation of the Lord on your behalf. Sometimes, the Lord allows us to go through difficult trials and drives us to our knees so that we can recognize and realize that we are powerless against whatever we are facing. Immediately after the Lord spoke to Jehaziel, Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground and worshipped the Lord. It is so inspiring to me that this is the first thing he did. His act of surrender and glory to God led Judah and Jerusalem to fall down on their faces, worshipping the Lord. But they didn’t stop there. Intersecting Faith & Life: The Scriptures tell us that they rose early in the morning and went out. Not only that, but they sang to the Lord and praised Him as they went out to battle. "And when they had begun to sing and praise, the Lord set an ambush against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah, so that they were routed" (v. 22). I’m sure they still struggled with fear. But imagine if the men of Judah had allowed their fear to stop them from following God. Thank God they didn’t. This passage reminds me that fear may come, but faith fixes our eyes on God — and He fights for us. Pray with me: Dear Father God, please help me to walk in faith even when I’m afraid. To always seek Your face first instead of caving into my fears. I trust You to work everything out for my good and your glory and to make me even more like Jesus (Romans 8:28-31). Date: Sunday, July 27, 2025Title: Victory in JesusPreacher: Wayne MeadowsSeries: Romans (Part 23)Passage: Romans 7:13-25
“Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires.” (Romans 13:14 NLT) I like comfortable clothes. Most of the time you’ll find me wearing jeans because they’re comfortable. I don’t like starched shirts. When I send my shirts to the cleaners, I specify “no starch.” Unfortunately, for one of the cleaners we previously used, “no starch” meant “extra starch.” I would put on these shirts and could barely move in them because they were so stiff. That’s not the kind of clothing I want. I want clothes that move where I move. That concept applies to the words of the apostle Paul in Romans 13:14, “Clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ” (NLT). The phrase means to prioritize His views and His interests and to imitate Him in all things. But Paul makes it seem as natural as putting on a shirt. Just as your clothing goes with you wherever you go, so should Christ. Let Him be a part of every aspect of your life, from the time you wake up in the morning until the time you go to sleep at night. In time, people may start to recognize you for clothing yourself in Christ—that is, living in a way that brings honor and glory to Him—just as they might recognize you for wearing a favorite shirt all the time. When they see that your faith is genuine, that you “walk the walk,” they’ll likely be more receptive when you “talk the talk.” That’s not to say that clothing yourself with Jesus is easy. Nothing worthwhile ever is. The appeal of clothing yourself with yourself instead is strong. The temptation to prioritize your own interests is hard to resist. But when we give in to that temptation, we put ourselves on a collision course with God, fighting and resisting Him when we should be obeying Him. Instead of going where He wants us to go and doing what He wants us to do, we start pulling against Him at every turn. We become spiritual prodigals, intent on going our own way. We convince ourselves that no one knows what will bring us joy, happiness, fulfillment, and adventure in life better than we do. But that type of thinking is the result of misunderstanding God. We must never lose sight of the fact that He is our Creator. He designed us. He wired us. He knows what will give us a genuine sense of fulfillment, joy, and satisfaction. He knows what will challenge and stretch us, what will make us stronger and wiser. He gave us our spiritual gifts, so He knows how we can maximize their effectiveness. He knows the impact we can have on the people who cross our path. God knows everything about us and wants only the best for us. Why wouldn’t we make Him part of every aspect of our lives? Reflection question: What would clothing yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ look like in your life? In this powerful message from our "More Than a Name" series, Pastor Josh dives into the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, as described in Matthew 21:1-11. Witness the moment when Jesus, humble and riding on a donkey, fulfilled the prophecy of Zechariah 9:9, bringing a message of hope and salvation to the crowds shouting "Hosanna!" As we explore the significance of Jesus as the perfect Lamb, we reflect on His sacrificial role, connecting it to the Passover and the profound implications of His death and resurrection for our redemption (John 1:29, Exodus 12:5). Pastor Josh explains how Jesus' sacrifice was not just a historical event but a transformative moment for all who believe.Join us as we encourage you this Easter season to:

A jeweler puts a diamond on a black velvet background in order to highlight the stunning beauty of the diamond shining all the more brightly against the dark background. The gospel is the same way—it shines at its brightest when seen against the backdrop of the condemnation of sin and death that we deserve. Knowing our desperate condition—that we are under God's wrath and hopeless without a Rescuer— makes God's saving grace in the death of Jesus the sweetest news ever. This week in Romans 3:21-31, we encountered the heart of the gospel. Because Jesus died in our place, those who trust in him are counted as righteous. And God, the Just and the Justifier, is satisfied. He can pardon us completely, so that when he looks at us, he sees the beautiful robe of righteousness that Jesus purchased for us (Isaiah 61:10).

Jesus is controversial. More and more we forget the exclusivity of Jesus. But, he is the only way to God and as we see in Romans 5:1-2, he is the only way we can have peace with God, access to grace, and hope for the future.
