Scottish serial killer
POPULARITY

In addition to being a serial killer who very likely killed at least 15 young men and boys around London between 1978 and 1983... Dennis Nilsen was also SO WEIRD. Have you ever pretended to pass out in front of a friend or coworker, hoping they'll try to molest you? Dennis did that. Ever strip down naked while working security and rubbed your genitals on a stuffed gorilla? Dennis also did that. Dennis did SO many weird things, fueled by his intensely specific and peculiar sexual fantasies. We get especially weird with this week's Timesuck! Wet Hot Bad Magic Summer Camp tickets are ON SALE! Today, we are going to talk about one of Scotland's most notorious serial killers, "The Muswell Hill Murderer and The Kindly Killer..." And if those nicknames weren't bad enough, buckle in, because this guy is one of the worst. Very depraved, evil and we can't trust him as far as we can throw him. I am privileged to have Elisha from Dead On: A True Crime Podcast with me, and she and I dissect this gross man's life to find out why he did what he did and to shed light on his victims who sadly got ignored and stereotyped in the media back in the 70s and 80s. In part 1, we discuss his early life and background then discuss the first few murders and his first run-in with law enforcement. Part 2 is coming out tomorrow so make sure you check that out as well to finish discussing all the murders, his arrests, and the impact after he's off the streets. Between 1978 and 1983 self-obsessed loner, Dennis Nilsen, lured young men to his North London apartments before throttling or drowning them and indulging in a phantasmagorically tragic sexual ritual. His victims were posthumously subjected to an extended fetishized reverence before being disposed of like excrement.Although his ghoulish obsession would result in drains clogged with pieces of the men and boys he had callously murdered and despite the mid-century charnel house decor of his apartment, Nilsen would become known as the "Kindly Killer" for his genteel manners and eagerness to admit to his gruesome hobbies. Join Khadijah and JR for red wine and green herb as J relates the macabre story of the Muswell Hill Murderer, Dennis Nilsen: British Royal Army veteran, career civil servant and notorious narcissistic necrophile.

In 1983, a Scot living in London tells police that he's a murderer. Something they already knew because of the smell wafting from his top floor apartment. The question was, how? And why? What police didn't expect was how many. To the people who knew him, he was a nice guy—a champion of the downtrodden. But the reality was much different. This is the story of a twisted serial killer who brought men to his flat, killed them, and kept their corpses for weeks—sometimes months. This is Dennis Nilsen. Dennis Nilsen was a serial killer active from 1978-1983. During that time, he preyed on young men and boys in London, murdering at least 12, but potentially as many as 16. All of his murders were committed at one of two homes where he lived. Nilsen was known to strangle his victims, and sometimes drown them, before ritualistically bathing them and keeping them in his home for periods of time. When he finished with them he'd burn their bodies and flush them down the toilet. Nilsen was caught in 1983. Nilsen was also known as the Kindly Killer and the Muswell Hill Murderer.

When he finished with them he'd burn their bodies and flush them down the toilet. Nilsen was caught in 1983. Nilsen was also known as the Kindly Killer and the Muswell Hill Murderer.

Dennis Nilsen has many monikers, and he has earned them all through his cruel killings of at least 16 innocent men and boys. Savannah explores Dennis' background and how he struggled with his sexuality, as well as how Dennis lured victim after victim to his apartment to strangle, dismember, and even store various dead bodies. Plus, Savannah examines the multiple times that Dennis could've been stopped and how his own foolishness ultimately led to him being caught and sentenced to life in prison without parole. TRUE CRIME - On this episode Tom O Mahony joins me to chat about one sick pup; known as the Kindly Killer and one of the creepiest the UK can produce, Dennis Nilsen; a former policeman and army private, murdered an unknown amount of young men in his London homes in the 70s and 80s. Nilsen is thought to have killed up to twenty homeless and homosexual men after luring them to his various apartments, killing them and burying the bodies under floorboards. It was also discovered that Dennis Nilsen was partially a cannibal and he kept the dead bodies of his victims as 'company'. Nilsen is renowned for being one of the weirdest killers on any true crime list because his peccadillo was talcing the dead men and watching TV with them, and then eventually boiling their bodies and flushing them down the toilet; which became his eventual undoing. The reason we know so much about Nilsen, his methods and his motivation is because he was more than forthcoming with the information in interviews after his arrest. How much of this can be believed is up to you; but the detail he goes into is reminiscent of other famous murderers. Dennis Nilsen is portrayed by David Tennant in the TV series 'Des' where a lot of these details went into the production._____________________Joining me on this show is comedian, actor and podcaster Tom O'Mahony. Better known as the Kindly Killer, Ol' Denny really enjoyed sleeping next to corpses. Dennis Nilsen could be called the Scottish Bathory. He loved young men, bathing in blood, and looked like a potato. Give it a listen. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/wellthatwasweird/message
Dennis Andrew Nilsen (born 23 November 1945, Fraserburgh, Scotland) also known as the Muswell Hill Murderer and the Kindly Killer is a British serial killer who lived in London. Nilsen killed at least fifteen men and boys in gruesome circumstances between 1978 and 1983, and was known to retain corpses for sex acts. He was eventually caught after his disposal of dismembered human entrails blocked his household drains: the drain cleaning company found that the drains were congested with human flesh and contacted the police. Due to the similarities between their crimes, sexuality and lifestyle, Nilsen has been referred to as the "British Jeffrey Dahmer. Happy Labor Day! This week, Drewby and Yergy take another trip across the pond and delve into the horrors of Dennis Nilsen, whose crimes bear striking similarities to that of our own Jeffrey Dahmer. We also discuss the upcoming 3 part miniseries "Des," starring David Tennant as Dennis Nilsen - which we are very excited for. Dennis Andrew Nilsen was a Scottish serial killer and necrophile who murdered at least twelve young men and boys between 1978 and 1983 in London, England. Convicted of six counts of murder and two of attempted murder, Nilsen was sentenced to life imprisonment on November 4th, 1983, with a recommendation that he serve a minimum of 25 years. All of Nilsen's murders were committed in the two North London addresses in which he resided between 1978 and 1983. His victims would be lured to these addresses and killed by strangulation, sometimes accompanied by drowning. Following each murder, Nilsen would observe a ritual in which he bathed and dressed the victim's body, which he retained for extended periods of time, before dissecting and disposing of the remains by burning on a bonfire or flushing down the toilet. He died in prison on May 12, 2018 of a pulmonary embolism and retro-peritoneal hemorrhage. But as Nilsen struggled to find room for his rotting lovers in the cramped space of his London flat, he would resort to desperate, gruesome measures that would put investigators hot on his trail.

Driven by loneliness, he keep the corpses of his victims, and even sit them down across the dinner table as he ate. Nilsen would claim at least a dozen victims this way, making him one of the most prolific killers in the UK. In this episode we discuss Dennis Nilsen, aka the Muswell Hill Murderer and the Kindly Killer, a sick individual who killed at least fifteen men and boys in gruesome circumstances between 1978 and 1983. One of Britain’s most infamous killers, Dennis Nilsen murdered fifteen young men, some as young as 14, in London during the late seventies and early eighties. Nilsen held on to the corpses of his victims for weeks on end, keeping them in pristine condition and talking to them on his return home from work and sleeping beside them. His horrific crimes were only revealed when a plumbing company found human remains in his drains. But what led this seemingly normal civil servant to start killing for company? How big a role did his lonely childhood in an isolated Scottish fishing village play? And how devastating was his cold and religious mother’s inability to feel any love for him or to acknowledge his homosexuality? Join MacIntyre and distinguished criminologist Dr Elizabeth Yardley as they unpick the psychology of one of the country’s most complex killers. Episode 23 is a big one. It's the Kindly Killer himself, Dennis Nilsen. We find out why he isn't the British Jeffrey Dahmer and Rachel mentions plane crashes, again.
