When I saw Brian Tamaki on the news last night, he looked more pompous than ever. Pompous - not pious. Because he was the one who instructed his so-called followers to disrupt that drag artist's kids show and protest at the Auckland Rainbow Parade at the weekend. From the pictures I've seen, both of those events looked pretty ugly. His idea. Under his instructions. And I've had a gutsful of this guy. And we need to be condemning him in the strongest way possible. Because, it seems that's all we can do. Sadly. They were doing a particularly vigourous haka at the end of the parade. That wasn't free speech. That was hate. I saw one person saying on the news that Tamaki's Man Up crew is nothing more than a gang and should be treated that way. This person made particular mention of the gang patch legislation - saying that these guys ride around on motorbikes wearing patches, So why aren't they included in the gang patch ban? The organiser of the rainbow parade says there is a difference between freedom of speech and hate speech - and what we saw at the weekend was hate. And I completely agree. The parade organiser says it was clear that they had set-out to intimidate, to bully, and get their message of misinformation across. I agree they wanted to intimidate. And I agree they were a bunch of bullies. But I don't know about the misinformation bit, because you never get any information from these clowns (misinformation or otherwise). And, as per usual, we had weasel words from the Prime Minister when he was asked about it yesterday. He said he respects peoples right to free speech and he respects people's right to protest, but he said Tamaki's puppets “went too far”. You're damn right they went too far. Even by turning up, they went too far. What the PM should have done yesterday was condemn Brian Tamaki and his deluded followers in the strongest way possible. He should have done what Auckland mayor Wayne Brown did. He said it was nothing short of “thuggery”. Which is a great way to describe it. I thought Greens co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick was a bit light on it when she said that the rainbow community needs love and support, not hateful rhetoric. I know what she's saying, but I want her to condemn these people too. Because, for me, this wasn't free speech - it was hate speech. And remember that this kind of thing isn't new for this Destiny lot. You'll remember they got all excited about an event at the library in christchurch that time when there was an event with people in drag reading stories to kids. And there's no stopping them. Last night Tamaki was saying that he doesn't think they've gone far enough yet. And he challenged the Prime Minister to get show some fortitude and to do a Donald Trump, and declare that only two genders will be recognised in New Zealand. Male and female. So these guys are dangerous. Not because of their mickey mouse beliefs, but because of the way they express them. If someone doesn't like the idea of same sex people being in relationships - they're allowed to feel that way. If someone thinks we should go back to the way it used to be, with just boys and girls and men and women, they can think that too. Good luck to them. But when people take it to the next level - like we saw at the weekend - that's not ok by me. I tell you what else isn't ok. The fact that this outfit is out there bullying people - dishing out their hatred - and because they call themselves a church, they enjoy all the tax benefits that come with that. A few years back, some Destiny Church charities were removed from the charities register for not filing their annual tax returns. Before that happened, more than 70,000 people signed a petition calling for Charities Services to strip the church of its tax-exempt status. I've had a look at the register today and the Destiny Church New Zealand Trust is still there. There are still some regional branches registered as a charity too. Which is a rort. And, until the government delivers on its promise to crackdown on so-called “charities” not paying tax, we just have to accept that it is what it is. But that doesn't mean we have to sit back and let these people do what they want. We can't make them pay tax. We can't tell them to take their patches off - because they're not a gang. But we can stand up and tell them to pull their heads in.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

With chapter 13, Isaiah's book begins a section of ten burdens, or oracles, against various nations. The fact that the majority of these oracles are directed toward nations other than Israel reminds us that the LORD is the God over all the earth. The first burden is given to Babylon. Although it was not a mighty empire in Isaiah's day, it was a significant city and would later become a great world power. Babylon is used elsewhere in Scripture as a way of referring to all powers that would stand against the LORD in pride. The LORD promises that on His day, He will bring such pride low. Rev. Lucas Witt, executive director of the Lutheran Mission Society of Maryland, headquartered in Baltimore, MD, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Isaiah 13:1-22. "The Fifth Evangelist” is a series on Sharper Iron that goes through Isaiah 1-39. The prophet proclaims to the people of his day and throughout history that the Holy One of Israel alone is exalted. Those who put their trust in the strength of man will be brought low, but those who trust in the LORD will see that He is their Immanuel. Jesus is God with us who reigns over the kingdom of God forever and ever! Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Two pastors engage with God's Word to sharpen not only their own faith and knowledge, but the faith and knowledge of all who listen. Submit comments or questions to: listener@kfuo.org
Most people will do anything to get fame and fortune. However, the terrible part of it is most people aren't in the mindset to receive it. That's why many get it and struggle. They were already struggling and once they become famous the struggle intensifies, because people allow folks to put them on pedestals they shouldn't of ever been on, and then, they struggle to stay there. Most people will do anything to get there and stay there. Most people go into fame unhealed and it open doors to make their problems worst. Many famous people aren't happy, but it's because they weren't happy before coming famous or well known. Nothing is wrong with gaining the status of fame, but when you aren't mentally ready for it, it's tough to handle. The status can ultimately destroy a person's life.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/relationships-and-relatable-life-chronicles--4126439/support.

This morning, there was a shock twist when the team played a game of Beat The Intro.. and Dave welcomed back a special guest on the show.
This week's guest is the one and only Sir Ian McKellen, who is on the show to very eloquently tell Simon all about his starring role in ‘The Critic', a period thriller in which a powerful – and pompous – London theatre critic lures a struggling actress into a blackmail scheme that has deadly consequences. Mark also weighs in on the film, as well as reviewing ‘Lee', a Kate Winslet-starring biopic of photographer Elizabeth ‘Lee' Miller, a fashion model who became an acclaimed war correspondent for Vogue magazine during World War II; ‘Speak No Evil', a psychological thriller with James McAvoy, which sees an American family's dream holiday turn into a living nightmare when they spend a weekend at a British family's idyllic country estate; and ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice', the long-awaited sequel to Tim Burton's beloved 1988 comedy horror classic, which sees the mischievous poltergeist Beetlejuice return for more supernatural chaos, as a new family stumbles upon his bizarre afterlife realm. By all accounts, a stellar week! Recent history is littered with corroborating examples in which experts made false declarations about COVID-19 and refused to acknowledge their errors. What drives this hubris, and how should the public respond to it?

John's monologue this time is 2 fold. He first discusses Texas Governor Greg Abbott pardoning MAGA extremist Daniel Perry who was convicted of murdering a Black protester at a Black Lives Matter rally in 2020. He then talks about Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker who gave a prejudicial and misogynistic commencement address to college graduates at Benedictine College in Kansas. Then, he welcomes back political affairs analyst David Rothkopf to give his opinions on the upcoming presidential debates and his new article in Haaretz called "Biden Has Not Turned His Back on Israel. But Netanyahu Has." Next, John takes calls from listeners on freedom of religion and the 10 Commandments. Then lastly, it's the return of TV's Frank Conniff to chat with the riff raff about Donald Trump.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

On contemporary art. Critic and editor at Art Review, JJ Charlesworth, joins us to talk about why so much contemporary art is bad. We discuss: Why is art no longer about beauty? Are we stuck between art that is either superficial or hyperpolitical? Why has there been a turn towards the mystical and irrational in art? How are ideas of the indigenous and the ecological represented in art today? Is there a romantic revolt against reason and is it new? “Let's just change it up a bit” is how Tim Little describes his approach to shoe design for Grenson. It might as well be Tim's ongoing mantra. After years in advertising—including handling the Adidas footwear account—Tim decided it was time to change it up a bit and make some welted footwear. Tim Little Shoes was born, with Tim working with various Northampton factories to create different types of quirky-but-classic styles that found a small but obsessive core audience. That work led Tim to change it up a bit again and take on the role of creative director for Grenson in 2005, before taking the whole damn thing over in 2010. Under Tim's watch, founded-in-1866 Grenson has been reignited in a way that, well, changes it up a bit from your typical historic Northampton shoemaker—combining classic English shoemaking techniques with a more fashion-forward approach that isn't afraid to break rules while knowing what the core of a great shoe always needs to be.In our Shoecast chat, Tim gets into how the iconic Grenson triple welt arose, how and why Grenson splits is manufacturing between its Northampton factory and India-based production (and the importance of maintaining the former), why so many GYW brands feel the need to make sneakers these days, how Grenson has brought a younger customer into Goodyear welted shoes, and plenty more.Oh also I attempt to spell veldtschoen, live on air._______________________________________________________________________________________________This episode was sponsored by Grant Stone — they've got you covered on just about every size and width you could ever want in dozens of stylesTheme Music: The Road by Punk Rock Opera
Mini is about to get married. Pompous celebrations have lightened up the whole sky. Gatherings after gatherings are coming to their premises to bless the bride. Upon seeing her daughter dancing and performing the rituals, Malan (Mini's mother) feels finally satisfied to Mini getting her own life. Yet somewhere deep inside she tried to evaluate her own life and love she has received throughout. All the kindness that she encountered at many stages of life, all those reflections started pouring in front of her eyes. One of those reflections was unsung and never told. A lover whom malan had before her own marriage and even waits for her on every 'pooran mashi' was still part of her present life. Will she accept him and that too at this point where her own daughter is now getting married? Has she any right to explore her desires at this stage of life? There are going to be people on this planet that want to keep you small. Fuck those people. They are the same people that will tell you you're doing too much. Too flashy. Too loud. Arrogant. Pompous. Bragadocious. The only reason they do this is because of their inadequacies. They see you winning, and they don't want you to pass them up. They don't want you to win. They're not interested in seeing you hit your goals, and start living the very best version of your life. When you come across those people, there's only one thing that should be pulsating through your mind....... Winning. It's okay to have a healthy level of ego and if you're going to be truly successful, you're going to need it to do battle with losers who have huge egos to compensate for their inadequacies. Between 1978 and 1983 self-obsessed loner, Dennis Nilsen, lured young men to his North London apartments before throttling or drowning them and indulging in a phantasmagorically tragic sexual ritual. His victims were posthumously subjected to an extended fetishized reverence before being disposed of like excrement.Although his ghoulish obsession would result in drains clogged with pieces of the men and boys he had callously murdered and despite the mid-century charnel house decor of his apartment, Nilsen would become known as the "Kindly Killer" for his genteel manners and eagerness to admit to his gruesome hobbies. Join Khadijah and JR for red wine and green herb as J relates the macabre story of the Muswell Hill Murderer, Dennis Nilsen: British Royal Army veteran, career civil servant and notorious narcissistic necrophile.

The Alan Cox Show
Wake the Faith up Slayer… This is Garth Heckman with the David Alliance and you can reach me at TDAgiantslayer@gmail.com Brought to you by wellbuiltbody.com Gym Apparel for men and women that rocks and shocks and ain't for everybody - but just might be for you. wellbuiltbody.com Oscar Wilde was quoted as saying “I can resist everything except temptation”. But the thought still remains… how does one resist temptation… It might be easier and weirder than you think. What to do when you are tempted? Run away like Joseph and Potiphars wife… sure Pray? ok, thats a good one. Confess to a strong Christian brother? not a bad idea Block and stay away from the temptation… again smart move… But what if I said there is another way that might seem a little weird? Eph. 5:3 Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God's people. 4 Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God. And Again in 17 Don't act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. 18 Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, 19 singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. 20 And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. What is temptation? Its wanting something, its a craving, its a sinful desire, its a deep pull. Well yes but it goes much beyond that. Temptation is about what you want. Its is a selfish, greedy, self centered want. Temptation is simply “all about you”. Temptation is me me me me So when Paul says if you are facing all kinds of temptations give thanks it sounds weird until you realize that Thankfulness is selfless. it takes your focus off of you. You almost never hear anyone tell themselves how thankful they are for themselves. You never thank yourself because it just sounds self centered and honestly Pompous! You thank others for what they did. You thank them with words that go out of your ME ME ME ME zone and into a world of how they feel. I am giving thanks to make you feel good, to encourage you, to lift your spirits up. I am giving thanks to others, to God and Jesus for what they did. True thankfulness has nothing to do with what I want or what I did. The very nature of thankfulness destroys temptation because it changes your focus off of you and onto others. Its hard to be tempted when I am thinking about others. Are you feeling tempted? Start to practice thankfulness especially to God and watch how quickly your focus changes and how fast the temptation will die!
The Infuriating Reason WHY Narcissists Are SO Pompous and Expect You to Cater to Them - People with narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) believe that they're superior to others, but deep down, they know that's not true. They have low self-esteem and a strong fear of failure. They crave admiration and attention, but not just any kind of attention—they want to be seen as unique and special. They feel like no one truly understands them or appreciates them for who they are. And when people don't do what the narcissist wants, it makes them angry—because it threatens their sense of superiority, and reinforces their belief that you don't understand or appreciate them. So the next time someone is behaving pompously or demanding special treatment from you, try to remember that narcissism isn't about having unrealistic expectations of others—it's about being too hard on yourself. In this look back episode...Prince Andrew has a long history of being a vile and rude person. Especially to those who are 'below' him, at least in his mind. In this article we see that pattern once again as Prince Andrew the pompous is on full display. (commercial at 12:40)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com
