Kolina is an expert in sociotechnical systems especially in the intersection between misinformation and social media platforms. Kolina has focused extensively on scientific and health misinformation and currently focuses on non-consensual AI deep fakes and AI related misinformation. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in Information Studies and a postdoc at the University of Washington's Center for an Informed Public.

Representantes de los distintos sectores que conforman el Frente de Todos de la provincia de Buenos Aires mantuvieron ayer una reunión para avanzar con la institucionalización del espacio a nivel provincial, con el objetivo de coordinar acciones que consoliden el trabajo que se viene desarrollando en territorio bonaerense. "Se busca generar el ámbito más adecuado para las discusiones y toma de decisiones", afirmó la diputada nacional Mónica Macha. "Veníamos esperando un ámbito para discutir, pensar estrategias y articular una mirada dentro del Frente de Todos articulada con la gestión, porque somos una coalición de gobierno", manifestó. La reunión se hizo en Casa de Gobierno de la provincia de Buenos Aires, donde el gobernador Axel Kicillof y la vicegobernadora Verónica Magario recibieron al presidente del Partido Justicialista bonaerense, Máximo Kirchner; a la presidenta de AYSA y representante del Frente Renovador, Malena Galmarini; y al intendente de Ensenada y líder del Frente Grande, Mario Secco. También estuvieron en el encuentro la titular de la Dirección General de los Recursos de la Seguridad Social- AFIP y presidente de Kolina, Carlos Castagneto; la diputada nacional de Nuevo Encuentro Mónica Macha; el jefe de Gabinete, Martín Insaurralde; y la ministra Gobierno, Cristina Álvarez Rodríguez. Según se comunicó desde la Gobernación bonaerense, a partir de este encuentro el Frente de Todos provincial desarrollará una serie de reuniones con todos los actores que conforman la coalición para fortalecer el espacio de discusión y debate interno, y para avanzar con definiciones en torno a la realidad de la provincia de Buenos Aires. Asimismo, se indicó que la institucionalización de mesas provinciales del Frente de Todos es un trabajo que se viene desarrollando en varias jurisdicciones del país y pone de manifiesto el compromiso democrático con el debate de ideas y el trabajo mancomunado para mejorar las condiciones de vida de las y los argentinos. This week, Dr. Kolina Koltai joins Jonathan to explore how vaccine misinformation travels online, why it's so dangerous, and how you can stop it from spreading. Dr. Kolina Koltai is a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for an Informed Public at the University of Washington. Her research focuses on the anti-vaccine community's use of sociotechnical systems to find, share, and assess vaccine misinformation. Sadly, misinformation is alive and well in America today and it is posing a huge threat to our democracy. How did we get here? Why are we so gullible? The Chino Y Chicano take up those questions and more with Kolina Koltai, a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Center for an Informed Public (CIP) at the University of Washington. Kolina studies how groups' use of sociotechnical systems affects decision making and information behavior. She researches information-seeking behaviors, trust assessment of information (and misinformation), and decision making with a focus on when people dissent from the scientific mainstream (e.g., vaccine dissent). She specifically focuses on how social networking sites and digital communities interact with information behavior practices. Kolina received her Ph.D. in Information Studies from the School of Information at The University of Texas at Austin.

They say South Florida is a sunny place for shady people and this is certainly true of steroid peddler Anthony Bosch. While Bosch's medical credentials may be lacking, his storytelling skills are first rate. The documentary also raises serious questions about doping and ethics in sports.The incredible nuttiness of “Screwball” could someday be adapted into an award-winning feature film a la “I, Tonya.” It has that same kind of out-there, Coen-esque feel in which people’s greed and stupidity lead to national news. From vaccine safety to climate change to GMO foods, scientific "controversies" are becoming more and more prevalent in modern society. Our guest this week, Kolina Koltai, studies how people decide which side they stand on when it comes to these issues, and the factors that can either change or reinforce their positions. In particular, she uses the anti-vaccine movement as a case study in exploring what we know about how people make decisions about these public topics. The explanation that people are "idiots" or "misinformed" is not an effective way of understanding why parents choose to not vaccinate their children, so she's developing and exploring new theories to answer explain the phenomenon of this movement and its continued rise.
