Wayne Sleep, Ben Miller, Rosalind Eleazar and Lou Conran join Stuart Maconie for this week's Loose Ends, with music from The Lottery Winners.Dance icon Wayne Sleep waltzes in to tell us stories of his life - all detailed in his new autobiography, Just Different. Tales of his friendships with Princess Diana, Freddie Mercury, David Hockney and fellow ballet legend Rudolph Nureyev intermingle with insights into his working-class upbringing and the difficulties of trying to make it as the shortest principal dancer ever to get into the Royal Ballet. Told he would always have to spin twice as fast and jump twice as high to succeed, Stuart hears all about the trials, tribulations and backstage gossip that make up Wayne's world. With notable appearances in Slow Horses, Howards End, Rellik and the Personal History Of David Copperfield, as well as striding such prestigious stages as the Royal Court and the National Theatre, Rosalind Eleazar is set to return to the small screen this New Year. Starring in the Netflix production of Harlan Coben's Missing You, filmed across the north west of England, she's here to tell us all about her new role as Detective Kat Donovan. Award-winning comedian and writer Lou Conran has been storming stages up and down the country since 2005 with her innate brand of sharp wit and honest and open humour. 2025 will see her twenty year anniversary as a performer and off the back of a sold out UK tour, she's about to embark on a tour of New Zealand, and joins Stuart to tell us about the year ahead. The actor and comedian Ben Miller is of course known for The Armstrong & Miller Show, the Johnny English and Paddington films, Death in Paradise, Bridgerton - but over recent years has turned his hand to writing children's books. From his Elf series to the recent The Night I Met Father Christmas, he joins Stuart to talk about his new character – Robin Hood…aged 10¾. And we'll hear all about his new TV series Austin which will be on our screens in 2025. Robbie Williams, Noel Gallagher, Boy George, Shaun Ryder and Frank Turner are just some of the huge names The Lottery Winners have in their phonebook. Formed in the mining town of Leigh 15 years ago, The Lottery Winners set out to work the UK gig circuit and perfect their now acclaimed stagecraft. And it all paid off when their last album went to No.1 in the UK. Their fourth original album KOKO is due out in February with a tour closely following…and another one with Robbie Williams following that! They join Loose Ends to play two songs - Superpower and Worry. Presenter: Stuart Maconie Producer: Elizabeth Foster Production Co-ordinator: Lydia Depledge-Miller

Every February since, the comedy festival has played host to a wealth of comedy performances attracting visitors from all over the country. In 2023, after celebrating the 30th anniversary, Rowe has stepped down. and created an extraordinary legacy. The event plans to continue in 2024 (from 7th to 25th February) and will carry on Rowe's legacy. In 2023, Rowe was presented with the Outstanding Legend Award at the Leicester Comedy Festival Awards. Over the years, the 19-day festival has grown to become one of the longest-running independent festivals in the UK. Hello there, or should we say 'g'day' as Lou and Sally-Anne are currently galivanting in the sunlit lands of Australia!Believe it or not, they've managed to end-up in different time zones (no really) and whilst Lou may be currently residing in what can only be politely described as a 'crack den' it still has better Wi-Fi than the posh hotel Sally-Anne is wafting around, which means that despite best efforts from all the team and guests, we'll have to put records on pause until Sally gets back to the grey skies of Bristol in the not too distant future. In the meantime, here's Lou to keep us errmmmm 'entertained' ...Normal service will be resumed shortly XX Hosted on Acast. It's a special occasion in the SOS bar, as not only is it the eve of one Lou Conran's birthday, but comedian Maisie Adam is here dishing out the Aperol Spritz and a load of drunk stories, that will make you long for the heady days of youth. CEO Sally-Anne manages to wax lyrical about her perfect Costco occasion, whilst Lou drinks enough Spritz for both of them and Maisie recounts stories of drunken tattoo mistakes .... HAPPY FRIDAY!
This week's couple provided a rather cryptic conundrum for our Chantal, which is no surprise, given that these guys were once the golden couple of British daytime TV, but even if, like Chantal, you're learning about this pair for the first time, Grainne's meticulous research and guest Lou's unparalleled enthusiasm will have you on a google deep-dive of your own in NO TIME!
Episode 27 sees us joined by the marvellous Lou Conran on a magnificent interview journey into an alternative life she did not live and knows nothing about. Amongst many emotional moments we hear about why Lou lives a mile underground, the reason she ran Bono through with a broadsword, why she lobbed prosecco for the Queen, the traumas of being Hugh Grant's sister and the reasons behind Lou's desire to have her ashes smoked by Kevin Costner. No guest ever sees the questions in advance...

Hello and welcome to our latest episode. Our guest today is the comedian, writer and performer, Lou Conran. Lou had a TFMR in 2016 after she found out that her daughter, Emma, wasn't developing properly. Emma had a rare skeletal condition and at 21 weeks, Lou delivered her. A year later, Lou wrote and performed her comedy show, I Love Lou C to live audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The show is all about her experience of becoming pregnant (after being told she was infertile) with a man who was less than ideal (understatement) and just as she was getting her head around all of this, she was told her baby was seriously unwell. The show is heart breaking and, yes, funny. And no, she is not making fun of baby loss. But funny things can and do happen in the midst of the trauma and tragedy of death. In a bid to break through the taboo of baby loss and the even bigger taboo of TFMR, she has been speaking out publicly about this almost as soon as it happened to her. As she says, 'If you can stand up every night on stage and try to make people laugh, you can do anything. And if you've been through baby loss, you can do anything.' To watch her show, click here: https://youtu.be/3CwTiRSgttA You can also find her episode on Cariad Lloyd's podcast, Griefcast where she talks more about the condition Emma had, Lou's episode is number 19: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/griefcast/id1178572854 Lou has her own comedy podcast, with her friend and fellow comic Sally-Anne Hayward, called Spit or Swallow and if you're in need of a laugh, we'd recommend it: https://audioboom.com/channels/5042257 Finally, you can follow Lou on social media (Instagram & Twitter) @LouConran And her website is: https://www.louconran.com/ Let us know what you thought of this episode by rating and leaving a comment on Apple Podcasts, or by emailing us at talktfmr@yahoo.com. Knowing what is or isn't going to give you a hangover is essential lockdown intel, so Mick gets busy herding delightful comedy cats and hosts of the Spit or Swallow podcast, Lou Conran and Sally-Anne Hayward, to find out more. Jen has a natter with Michelle Elman, life coach and author of new book The Joy of Being Selfish, about boundaries, why we need them and how to set them. In Jenny off the Blocks, Jen's talking sailing, specifically the Vendee Globe, completed by Pip Hare last week. Just how good a combo is domestic violence, absent eyelids and a glorious hat montage? Find out as this week’s Rated or Dated revisits Sleeping With The Enemy. Plus, in the Bush Telegraph, there's fun with percentages, a(nother) celebration of Stella Creasy, and a centuries-old debate about where women should be is still happening. Sigh.
