rWotD Episode 3261: Front Range Express Welcome to random Wiki of the Day, your journey through Wikipedia's vast and varied content, one random article at a time. The random article for Wednesday, 8 April 2026, is Front Range Express.Front Range Express (FREX – stylized frex) was a commuter bus service that began in 2004 and operated between the cities of Colorado Springs and Denver, with stops along the way in Greenwood Village, Monument and Castle Rock in Colorado, U. S. FREX operated on Interstate 25 except when exiting to make stops at each city. FREX served the southern portion of the Colorado Front Range and during its tenure was operated via different contracts by Veolia Transport & Laidlaw Transit. It was added as a part of Mountain Metropolitan Transit, which serves the Colorado Springs and El Paso County areas. In 2005, annual ridership was 118,389 and daily ridership was 464.In 2007, nineteen Gillig BRT suburban buses were bought. Before 2007, FREX used many different models of buses including the GMC RTS, MCI 102-C3, MCI 102-D3, MCI 102-DL3 and NovaBus RTS WFD suburban. However, the older buses were prone to breaking down. To provide a more efficient service, standard Mountain Metropolitan Transit buses were used from December 2006 until the new Gillig BRT suburban buses entered service in mid-2007.FREX buses included amenities such as free Wi-Fi available to passengers throughout the route.Due to the lack of funding, FREX faced the likelihood of being eliminated after February 12, 2010. As a last resort, FREX put up for sale nine out of the nineteen Gillig BRT suburban buses. The first two attempts to sell the buses failed. On February 8, a successful bid of $1.44 million, an average of $160,000 per bus (a substantial loss), was made by York County Transportation Authority in Pennsylvania. These funds enabled FREX to continue for the remainder of 2010 with a reduction in service, including service times. The city of Castle Rock did not wish to help fund FREX any longer, so they lost the service at their stop. With the budget being higher than expected for 2011, FREX service continued through 2011 and most of 2012. However, due to the Colorado Springs new mayor's wishes, the FREX service was discontinued completely on August 31, 2012.On May 5, 2014 the Denver Post reported that the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) was in the process of planning a replacement for FREX that would run along the Interstate 25 corridor and add new service into the mountains along the Interstate 70 corridor as part of their statewide transportation plan. The service is now in operation, known as Bustang South, and includes new buses with lavatories. As of 2025, the Bustang South route doesn't stop in Castle Rock, like FREX did, but a mobility hub, planned for use by Bustang, is under evaluation by CDOT.This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 01:10 UTC on Wednesday, 8 April 2026.For the full current version of the article, see Front Range Express on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Bluesky at @wikioftheday.com.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Ruth.

Chuck And Julie Show with Chuck Bonniwell and Julie Hayden Colorado Clerk's Association "Gold Standard", Election Integrity and Political Corruption in Colorado We told you it wasn't the “gold standard”. Ashe Epp reports Colorado's largest Clerk has pulled out of the corrupt State Clerk's Association. Naming names and revealing receipts This episode of The Chuck & Julie Show features election integrity expert Ashe Epp discussing the high-profile resignation of El Paso County's clerk from the Colorado County Clerks Association (CCCA). The conversation explores alleged conflicts of interest within the election industry, the strategic "sacrificing" of Secretary of State Jena Griswold by the Democratic establishment, and the internal friction between grassroots conservatives and the GOP leadership following the recent state assembly. The CCCA Resignation and Industry "Incestuousness" The discussion opens with the resignation of El Paso County Clerk Schleicher from his leadership position at the CCCA. Ashe Epp argues that the association has become a "skin suit" for political agendas, specifically naming Matt Crane as a central figure driving policy through a small, exclusive club. The resignation letter allegedly reveals that Schleicher was blocked from meetings with the Department of State due to "trust issues," a claim he later found to be a fabrication by association leadership. The hosts highlight what they describe as an "incestuous" election industry, citing family ties between officials and vendors like Dominion Voting Systems and Runbeck Services. They argue that centralization in election technology creates a complexity that hides potential corruption, leaving smaller rural clerks dependent on the CCCA for resources and professional development they cannot provide themselves. The Strategic "Under-the-Bus" Maneuver for Jena Griswold Apt presents a thesis regarding the sudden shift in the Democratic narrative surrounding Secretary of State Jena Griswold. While previously a "rising star," Griswold is now facing internal criticism and staff-related scandals. Apt suggests this is a coordinated effort to offer her as a "sacrificial lamb" to appease public demands for accountability without changing the underlying system. The theory posits that Griswold is an "isolated political product" while the actual operations of the office are handled by career staff and outside counsel, such as Andrew Klein. By removing Griswold, the establishment may attempt to preserve the "gold standard" reputation of the election system while distancing themselves from her personal controversies and legal battles. GOP Assembly and the Threat of "Jungle Primaries" Chuck Bonino reflects on the recent Republican Assembly, expressing disappointment over the dominance of "establishment" candidates like Gabe Evans, who he claims is backed by "big money" from Americans for Prosperity. The hosts argue that the current caucus and assembly system is under threat from proponents of "jungle primaries," which would allow unaffiliated voters to determine Republican candidates. Bonino contends that this shift would effectively end the influence of the grassroots, as billionaire-funded nonprofits would dictate winners through massive spending. He highlights a fundamental divide within the party regarding the "opt-out" rule, which determines whether the party can prevent non-Republicans from participating in their primary process. Economic Concerns and Denver's Decline The episode concludes with a grim outlook on Colorado's economy. Bonino points to the departure of major companies like Palantir and the devaluation of downtown office buildings, which are reportedly selling for "dimes on the dollar." He blames over-regulation and the potential for new "millionaire taxes" for driving wealth and industry to states like Texas and Florida. The hosts fear that without a significant shift in leadership, the state will continue to lose its high-tech and energy sectors, leaving a hollowed-out economy. The episode underscores a deep-seated distrust of current election management in Colorado and highlights a pivotal moment for the state's Republican Party. Between the legal battles of figures like Tina Peters and the structural debates over primary formats, the hosts suggest that Colorado's political and economic future hinges on whether the "grassroots" can successfully challenge the established "industrial" and "political" complexes.

As a lifelong El Paso resident who returned home to serve the community, Abbie Laine shares practical insight into how the Texas family law system works and what clients should expect when they hire a divorce lawyer or child custody attorney in El Paso. The conversation begins with an overview of family law in Texas, including contested and uncontested divorces, custody disputes, child support calculations, spousal support, protective orders, and post-divorce modifications. Abbie explains that family law cases in El Paso are handled under the Texas Family Code and assigned to one of several local family courts, with hearings sometimes conducted in person and sometimes via Zoom depending on the judge.A major focus of the episode is divorce in El Paso, TX. Abbie outlines the required 60-day waiting period for divorce in Texas and explains how uncontested divorces can be completed relatively quickly when both parties agree on property division and parenting arrangements. For contested divorces involving children or disputed assets, she notes that cases may take several months or longer. She also emphasizes the importance of hiring an experienced El Paso divorce attorney early in the process, warning that representing yourself (“pro se”) can lead to costly mistakes that are difficult to fix later. The podcast also covers child support in Texas, including how support is calculated using statutory guidelines based on a percentage of income, as well as how support can be offset in shared custody situations. Abbie discusses child custody laws in El Paso, explaining that courts make custody decisions based on the best interest of the child, often seeking to maintain stability and continuity in a child's life whenever possible. This is where having a knowledgeable child custody lawyer in El Paso can play a critical role in presenting a parent's case effectively. Finally, the episode addresses enforcement of court orders, including what parents can do when child support is not paid or visitation orders are violated. When U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced the death of a detainee at a Texas detention camp this month, the agency initially gave no cause of death. In June of 1959, a fisherman on the Rio Grande west of El Paso pulled a black suitcase from the slow, muddy current near Montoya, Texas. Inside was a headless, handless torso — mutilated, skinned, and wrapped in the previous day's newspaper. Within hours, El Paso County Sheriff Bob Bailey was standing over what he'd later call “the most brutal murder in El Paso history.” What followed was a multi-state investigation that spanned Texas, New Mexico, and beyond — an effort to name the victim and find the sadist who cut him apart.Over the next weeks, more body parts surfaced downstream and across the desert near Tularosa. Each discovery added a new layer of horror — feet in a sandwich box, organs in a cereal carton, and hands packed in plastic and left in the sand. Every clue pointed to someone who knew anatomy and took their time.Despite help from the FBI, countless missing-person matches, and even a copycat case a year later in New Mexico, the Rio Grande torso murder remained one of the Southwest's most chilling mysteries. The body was never identified, the killer never found. This is Part One of Three of The Torso Murders — a case that haunted El Paso lawmen for years and stretched from the cottonwoods of the Rio Grande to the deserts beneath the Sacramento Mountains. If you have any information about the 1959 Torso Case, please contact the El Paso County Sheriff's Office at (915) 538-2292.Sources: The El Paso Times, The El Paso Herald-Post, The Carlsbad Current-Argus, The Albuquerque JournalYou can support gone cold and listen to the show ad-free at https://patreon.com/gonecoldpodcastFind us at https://www.gonecold.comFor Gone Cold merch, visit https://gonecold.dashery.comFollow gone cold on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, and X. Last year, Buc-ee's opened its first Colorado location, an expansive 74,000 square-foot outpost in Weld County filled with beaver-branded merch, brisket sandwiches and sweets. Not too long after that, the company began plans for a second store, landing at a parcel of land about a two-hours drive away in northern El Paso County. But the prospect of a Buc-ee's arriving on the edge of the small town of Palmer Lake quickly became a larger-than-life controversy. CPR's Bente Birkeland, KRCC's Andrea Chalfin and KRCC's Briana Heaney dig into the story behind this big development proposal -- and its big opposition. It's a tale which raises questions around growth, representative government and how communities navigate bitter political divides.Read their coverage: Colorado's governor and senators sign letter asking Buc-ee's to reconsider Monument Hill location In debate over new Buc-ee's, early results show Palmer Lake residents want a public vote and recall of two trustees Buc-ee's gets a thumb's down from the Palmer Lake Planning Commission Here's what the agreement between Palmer Lake and Buc-ee's looks like, mostly. On this week's podcast,  Wild Westendorf returns and joins Bob for a varied and lively conversation. They discuss a case out of Wyoming regarding publicly owned land intermingled with private land in a checkerboard layout, and how the private landowner, who has lost previous court decisions, is now asking the US Supreme Court to forbid the public from hopping over his land to access the public lands. While the implications are serious, Bob thinks the idea that someone owns the "air space" over their property is stupid. Also, Bob talks about social media topics where recreationists provide opinions, often not nice ones, about what other hikers wear, or equipment they use, or how fast or slow they hike. Bob wonders why these posters seem to think anyone cares about their opinions and why they think they are necessary. Also, El Paso County is looking for new members of its park advisory board; Bob has added a new gallery to his photography website; and why this podcast isn't also a video production. Today we talked about the Frost case:In 2022, El Paso County in Colorado Springs, Colorado, placed four siblings into the homes of their mother and their aunt.  Both women were living with registered sex offenders.  Three months later, they received a call from the youngest child's school about the boy's terrible physical battering. The Court DID NOT admonish Department of Human Services for their neglectful failure to investigate the women's homes before sending children to them. The judge DID NOT accuse them of reckless child endangerment. Instead, the Court congratulated the Department of Human Services for the good job they had done in the emergency situation they handled at the time!It appears that this judge doesn't know the difference between a safe parent and a crafted scheme to take children from him and put them into a child sex trafficking ring. Instead,in December 2024, she terminated the parental rights of  the protective FATHER  of the of the children.  She ignored the fact that he had contacted the pollice more than 15 times in the two years leading up to the department removing the children from him over allegations that were founded to be false. We will be looking at the documents that show that the department engineered a no-fault plea arrangement that was never made by the father, and the criminal records of the perpetrators that were ignored. To Reach Debbie Carroll:  Debbie.car@considerationnonprofit.org***** Supportshow(https://www.buymeacoffee.com/maryannpetri)Maryann Petri: dismantlingfamilycourtcorruption.comhttps://www.tiktok.com/@maryannpetriFacebook:  https://www.youtube.com/@slamthegavelpodcasthostmar5536Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/guitarpeace/Pinterest: Slam The Gavel Podcast/@guitarpeaceLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/maryann-petri-62a46b1ab/  YouTube:  https://www.youtube.com/@slamthegavelpodcasthostmar5536  Twitter https://x.com/PetriMaryannEzlegalsuit.com*DISCLAIMER* The use of this information is at the viewer/user's own risk.
