http://www.attractionchecklist.com - It's time to set sail on a journey around the Rivers of America aboard Disneyland's Sailing Ship Columbia on this episode of Attraction Checklist! Attraction audio recorded on September 30, 2023. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode we head to Frontierland in Disneyland to ride Sailing Ship Columbia. The Disneyland website describes this attraction saying: Sail into the wilderness aboard a full-scale replica of a majestic ship from the 18th century. There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and the Thrill Level describes it as being a Slow Water Ride that can get Loud. Before we embark on our journey, here are five fast facts about the Sailing Ship Columbia. 1. The Sailing Ship Columbia opened at Disneyland park on June 14, 1958. 2. The story goes that in the early days of Disneyland, Walt Disney wanted more traffic on the Rivers of America. He asked Joe Fowler to come up with an idea for a new ship and, after research, Fowler suggested the Columbia Rediviva - The first American vessel to circumnavigate the globe. 3. The original designs for the ship were sketched out on a napkin by Ray Wallace. The masts, rigging, spars and sails of the Columbia were constructed at Todd Shipyards, Los Angeles Division, San Pedro, CA 4. The Columbia can hold up to 300 guests on each 12 minute trip around Tom Sawyer's Island. 5. The Columbia has a starring role in the nighttime spectacular Fantastic! Serving as Captain Hook's ship, the Jolly Roger, in the original and current incarnations of the show and as The Black Pearl from Pirates of the Caribbean in the version that ran from 2017 to 2023. Let's set sail on the Sailing Ship Columbia. John B. deHaas is joining me again today and after we ride, we'll give you our thoughts on this attraction. This is a binaural recording so if you have headphone put them on now as we ride Sailing Ship Columbia at Disneyland! The legend of Bigfoot has captivated people for numerous decades following the release of the extremely famous and controversial Patterson-Gimlin film in 1967. Bigfoot was initially popularized in the mainstream media in 1958, however, after a man named Ray Wallace became famous nearly overnight for making casts of unusually large footprints that he found near a worksite in northern California. Despite the recency of these two more sensationalized occurrences, however, legends of creatures such as Bigfoot have been in existence for nearly as long as humans themselves, and the sasquatch in particular can be traced concretely back to Native Americans, specifically those located in the Northwest region of North America. The debate as to whether or not this creature actually exists is very much ongoing, with many people believing that Bigfoot is only a legend arising from the human tradition of storytelling. Others still, however, believe that Bigfoot is very much real, and that while there is minimal to no physical evidence, the number of reported sightings, especially the Patterson-Gimlin film, is not to be overlooked. This episode explores the origins of the Bigfoot legend and how it has created the image of the creature we know today, as well as the evidence that may point to the existence of this elusive creature. Oooooohh boy, this one got the proverbial blood boiling and the steam spouting from our ears....BIGFOOT HOAXERS & HOAXES...RICK DYER & TOM BISCARDI provide Ammo for the PSEUDO-SKEPTICS, indeed, and for nothing more than personal profit, while LEGIT SCIENTIFIC research suffers..."KILLING BIGFOOT?" Ugh....PLUS, it was an emotional week for me (Patrick) as we said goodbye to a loved one....Have we already received a SIGN FROM BEYOND? Mike is also APOLOGETIC for his constant complaining (lol)....I'm kidding, I'm kidding....We had too much fun (albeit frustrating fun) with this episode! Don't miss it!
It's much more comfortable for most of us to think of paranormal subjects as having their origins beginning only in recent history – an amusing byproduct of mid-twentieth century foolishness or the internet age. Much easier to dismiss then. Many people, persuaded by an uninformed media, believe UFOs only started appearing to the public after pilot Kenneth Arnold's famous sighting while flying near Mt. Rainier on June 24, 1947, or the incident in Roswell, NM, just fourteen days later. Similarly, many people believe the Bigfoot or Sasquatch phenomenon only began in 1958 in Bluff Creek, California, after the family of Ray Wallace claimed he started it all by leaving large, fake footprints made with wooden carvings as a prank. It's uncomfortable to consider that these unnerving intrusions into our comfortable reality had occurred for maybe hundreds, if not thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of years before our sophisticated logic matured. However, researchers who study paranormal phenomena know that reports of these things, especially Bigfoot, go back far beyond written history. Unfortunately, yet not surprisingly, there seems to be an air of ethnocentrism and hubris when it comes to western scientists giving credence to the indigenous oral traditions of encounters with these massive, hairy ape-like beasts. Yet, it stands to reason that if any of these beings truly existed, their origins likely go back further than the birth of Rock and Roll. So, how far back do the sightings of Bigfoot and Sasquatch go? Here's a hint: it's a lot more ancient and global than you probably imagined. To help us explore this enigma, we're fortunate to have our dear friend, researcher, science enthusiast, author, and fellow podcaster Micah Hanks join us for a roundtable discussion. We'll hear about his latest research into the earliest known writings and oral histories of the cryptic cousin creature we've come to know and love. Visit our website for a whole lot more information on this website, and seriously, we're talking a LOT more.

When Dr. Steven Hamilton, physically sick from repeated exposure to meteor rock radiation, causing constant Parkinson-like twitches, becomes a liability to Lex Luthor, he terminates their contract. Dr. Hamilton leaves the mansion and drives down the road like a lunatic and causes a serious accident with a truck driven by Ray Wallace. The truck overturns in a cornfield near Clark Kent's spacecraft and, while trying to rescue Ray, Pete Ross sees the UFO. The next morning, Pete asks Clark to help him to bring the object to his workshop. When Dr. Hamilton steals the spacecraft, Pete believes Clark has taken it, so Clark discloses his secret to his friend. Meanwhile, the now blind Lionel Luthor moves into Lex's mansion forcing Lex to care for him. Also, to Lana's dismay, her aunt Nell Potter is in love with a new boyfriend named Dean.
In 1958, a series of large, human-like footprints were discovered by employees at a California logging site. A casting of one of the prints was made by the man who discovered them, Jerry Crew, who took his unusual find to a local newspaper... and an American legend was born. However, decades later it was revealed that one of the men overseeing the logging operation, Ray Wallace, had been involved in a hoax using large wooden carvings to create the huge footprints. Many skeptics argue, on account of this, that the origins of what came to be known as "Bigfoot" can be traced back to the 1950s, but is this entirely true? This week we look at the history behind the famous Ray Wallace Bigfoot hoax of 1958, and the earlier American origins of the Sasquatch. On October 20, 1967, Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin were riding on horseback, round a bend near Bluff Creek, California. They said they came across a large, hairy beast known as Bigfoot. Roger was able to capture the creature on 16mm film. Bob Gimlin said his first thoughts were, “wow, they really do exist!” Patterson thought he had proof of Bigfoot’s existence and really expected the scientists to accept it. But only a few scientists were willing to even look at the film! This is what they say happened in 1967.
