A week can be a long time in football. Rangers had the chance to leapfrog Celtic into top spot with a win in last week's derby at Ibrox, but failure to do so (do "moral victorys" count?) has cost them badly. Further failure in Dingwall by Phillipe Clement's men has now left the Hoops with a four point lead in the title race as a Reo Hatate inspired performance ensured it was the green side of Glasgow who were celebrating after another weekend of high drama in the title race. In addition to the impact of the returning Hatate, team-mates Cameron Carter-Vickers, Alistair Johnstone, Kyogo and others have found form at the best possible time as the Bhoys focus in on a potential league and cup double. Brendan Rodgers too is in buoyant mood, declaring this as the stage of the season when "Celtic come alive!" And it couldn't come at a better time! The pair chat about the six games in the Scottish Premiership weekend, including: Aberdeen still being rubbish but finding those all-important three points. Don Cowie's strange half-time switch. Adama Sidibeh scoring both a brilliant goal and just generally being brilliant. Dundee's comical opener. Hibs leaving themselves wide open again at Ibrox. Rangers being the more clinical of two profligate teams. Killie impressive at Tynecastle. Celtic getting Reo Hatate back. And Stephen Robinson weakening his side through some second-half subs. After a stop/start season Reo Hatate returned against Livingston at the weekend and the classy midfielder is now eyeing a bigger prize after playing his part in the 3-0 win. He was supported on the day by stand-in skipper Cameron Carter-Vickers - a man who's had his own injury issues - and both will be vital at Ibrox at the weekend as the Hoops look to stretch their lead at the top of the table. All indications are that they'll be joined on their trip to the south side by Callum McGregor in what would be a massive triple boost for the Bhoys. We'll be focusing on that one in more detail in Friday's pre-match show and in the meantime we take a look at some of the key moments at the Tony Macaroni as well as at Celtic's stand-out performers across the campaign so far. Kyogo Furuhashi looked far more like himself at Celtic Park against St Johnstone as he inspired the Bhoys to another vital three points in the title race. His first half header opened the scoring before an assist for Khun at the start of the second half put Brendan Rodgers' side in control. The woodwork and a couple of offside calls prevented him from adding to his tally but he'll be pleased with his afternoon's work. We now head into the international break top of the pile (though having played a game extra) and can now re-set ahead of the run in - hopefully with the return of key players such as Reo Hatate and Callum McGregor. Daizen Maeda continues to puzzle and delight in equal measure with the Japanese frontman grabbing his first hat-trick in the Hoops during Sunday's Scottish Cup victory over Livingston. He was the man of the moment as Celtic took their place in the semi finals (eventually) where they'll now face Aberdeen at Hampden Park. For Brendan Rodgers his perfect Scottish Cup record continues, having now won all 15 games he's managed in the competition. Despite the win there was a notable absence in the heart of the Celtic side as both Callum McGregor and Cameron Carter-Vickers missed out through injury. Whilst other have stepped up on occasion it's clear just how important those two are in terms of the mindset and leadership they bring to proceedings. Let's hope they – along with Yang and Reo Hatate – are back in action sooner rather than later. Join Tino, James & Joe on this very latest episode of The Celtic Exchange Weekly. Get ready for an action-packed episode of the Get Involved Referee as we dive into the highly anticipated Glasgow derby between Rangers and Celtic.First up, we're talking about Don Robertson's Derby debut, as he stood in for the injured Willie Collum. We'll analyse his performance and discuss whether he's ready for future high-profile games. But that's not all, folks. We'll also dig deep into the John Lundstram challenge and compare it to the Graeme Shinnie challenge. Did Robertson make the right call, or was it a missed opportunity for a red card?Next on the agenda is the issue of diving in the game, with accusations flying around that Barassic was trying to con the referee. Steve has a different opinion, though. He believes that Borna Barišić caught his studs in the ground but looked for a penalty to compensate for poor play. What do you think? We'll then move on to the handball rule, which has been causing confusion among fans and referees alike. Steve Conroy confesses that he's lost track of the rule after VAR intervened and gave Inverness a penalty against Falkirk in the other Semi-Final. Meanwhile, Des argues that the decision was never a penalty. Finally, we'll wrap up the episode with a discussion on fans smuggling pyros into the grounds and the controversy surrounding Todd Cantwell's refusal to share water with Celtic player Reo Hatate. And to top it all off, we'll be making predictions on who should referee the final, with Des and Steve agreeing that John Beaton will be given the big game. Hosted on Acast.
