The World Beyond Our Senses - Jonathan Mohr - Sunday Morning 06-29-25
Bf Barry says of summer starting, revving up, especially for co-host Kerry: Barry says “hanging out and hanging in” But as we greet the summer season, we're hanging out with someone Kerry came across through Steph McCoy of the fashion, style, and inclusion platform "Bold Blind Beauty". Of course, it's about the representation which I think is very important, also for the generations that are younger than me, but also because I think we should celebrate these different perspectives. And I also hope to show other travelers with low vision, that it's us who get to share this perspective with the sighted travelers and I think there's a cool aspect in that. Marie Elise joins us on Outlook this week to talk travel, the value of experiencing the loveliness and power of the planet by making use of all our available senses, and adapting to the shifting sands of genetic vision degeneration. Whether it's chickens, hummingbirds, or horses, Elise wanted to be a veterinarian growing up and now wants to share her message of experiencing the sound of a hummingbird and not just seeing it, and joins us from South America with the sound of those chickens outside the door. She describes her special connection to horses and the trust it takes to ride with fading sight, but the benefits of emotional regulation for a deeper connection and something she could apply to life going forward were helpful for coping with all of it. She says of her life travels, as she's worked to befriend the anxieties that developed in her 20s as the realities of her Stargardt's blindness became clearer: “I feel like that if you live in another country, that culture and that country becomes a part of you. It really has helped me develop as a human.” So whether it's growing up amongst the bicycles in the Netherlands, studying Spanish in Spain after high school, or her time in Argentina, Marie has a dream going forward: Of course, it's about the representation which I think is very important, also for the generations that are younger than me, but also because I think we should celebrate these different perspectives. And I also hope to show other travelers with low vision, that it's us who get to share this perspective with the sighted travelers and I think there's a cool aspect in that. Marie has a blog “Beyond My Blur” where she shares her own perspective on the places she's been lucky to get to experience and how to do this, with the full spectrum of senses, more fully: https://beyondmyblur.com

In this episode, Ron Baker, founder of the VeraSage Institute, challenges traditional views of innovation in accounting. Instead of focusing on technology like AI and automation, Ron advocates for transforming the value we provide to clients, shifting from transactional services to outcomes and personal growth. He highlights Fender's shift from selling guitars to teaching customers how to become musicians as a key example of transformation.Ron also reframes burnout as "moral injury," the emotional toll of not living up to the deeper purpose of the profession, which is helping people. This conversation is full of actionable ideas to help CPAs evolve beyond billable hours and checklists. ParentingAces - The Junior Tennis and College Tennis Podcast
Welcome to Season 14 Episode 8 of the ParentingAces Podcast, a proud member of the Tennis Channel Podcast Network. This week, we travel to the metaverse and the new Tennis Australia digital world of Beyond Tennis with Ridley Plummer. Ridley Plummer is Tennis Australia's Senior Manager Digital Sales and Metaverse, leading the Australian Open (AO) Metaverse strategy and overseeing the development of the Metaverse and Digital Innovation projects. Spearheading the AO Digital Innovation Programs, Ridley is passionate about new technology and its potential to evolve industries beyond physical sporting events into the virtual world. Ridley has been instrumental in progressing the AO's launch into the Metaverse with multiple groundbreaking projects including Beyond Tennis, AO Adventure on Roblox, AO Artball and the AO School's Block Buster Tennis Challenge in Minecraft Education. It was just a matter of time before Tennis caught up with the rest of the major sporting world and entered the alternative reality known as the metaverse. In this week's episode, Ridley walks us through Tennis Australia's commitment to innovation and technology and introduces us to its latest creation known as Beyond Tennis. Beyond Tennis is not a video game in the classical sense, however. Rather, it is a digital platform which allows its users to coach and act as agent for a variety of AI-generated male and female tennis players from countries around the globe. As Ridley explains, the user can manage the player's training, fitness, nutrition, and social and media commitments in order to help the player improve in his/her performance in tournaments and team events held within the platform. You really have to see it to truly understand it, so be sure to check out the video version of this episode for a sneak peek! The Tudor world ushered in an age of wealth, magnificence, challenge and opportunity in the early 16th century. Hampton Court Palace stood at the heart of this period, as the home of Thomas Wolsey, Henry VIII's chief minister. But the Tudor story extends beyond the palace walls into the wider world, encompassing a time of exploration and exploitation. In this episode, Curator Brett Dolman walks us through the oldest rooms at Hampton Court Palace, where a new permanent exhibition reveals the lives of the ordinary men and women who enabled the Tudor court to exist and thrive. Learn more about their everyday contributions to this fascinating period. Session 7 - "Holistic Vision: Unveiling the World Beyond Ego and Illusions" - Closing Session with David and JasonDavid and Jason end this year's Strawberry Fields Festival by talking about the purpose of life and emphasizing the importance of seeing the world holistically, involving faith and trust that everyone will play their part perfectly. The ego attempts to divide the world into roles and categories, organizing it based on a false preference system. The first principle of the 50 miracle principles is there's no order of difficulty in miracles and no hierarchy of illusions.Jesus saw the world without a preference and felt the universal love of God, radiating and sharing inclusively with everyone. Jesus was open and cordial with the Zealots, who were angry and trying to overthrow the Romans. The focus is on cultivating a deeper understanding of the world, not trying to forgive people but letting Jesus take us deeper into our minds to see the world as a whole. Jesus takes great care in describing his role as an elder brother, not placing himself above or below people. He emphasizes that the body is a learning device for the mind, and the ego often over-evaluates it. A personality is an over-evaluation of a learning device.Recorded Sunday, July 14, 2024, in Living Miracles Monastery, Utah, USA
If you look around, it feels like the world is going crazy, and the decisions we make are incredibly important to be the type of church and be the type of people that Jesus has called us to be. That means we tune out the noise, remember THE story, never give in to fear, and no matter what, be a blessing. Today Pastor Chris wraps up our series on Acts with a profound and timely message on what it looks like to follow Jesus when the crowds are stirred up and the world feels chaotic.
