Timestamps (10:37) - Napa Halloween Murders Start Napa - California - On Halloween in 2004, three roommates, Leslie Ann Mazzara, Lauren Meanza and Adriane Insogna, spent the evening handing out specially prepared treat bags to the children in their neighborhood. Hours after the women went to bed, Lauren was awakened by the sounds of screaming and breaking glass.  As she headed up the stairs to investigate, she heard footsteps coming towards her.  She fled the home and called 911 from her vehicle. Leslie and Adriane would be found brutally murdered in an upstairs bedroom.  The pool of blood at the scene was said to be inches deep. My latest Quantum Tech Pod with Sabrina Maniscalco – CEO and co-founder, Algorithmiq, is live! Sabrina grew up in a small town called Mazzara, in southwestern Sicily, facing Africa. Two years before she went to university, she got a telescope as a birthday present and started to observe the stars and read about how galaxies are formed. This is what started her passion for quantum physics! Sabrina has held research and post-doctoral positions in many places around the world including South Africa, Bulgaria, Vienna, Germany, and eventually Finland. She co-founded Algorithmic in 2020 while a professor of quantum information, computing and logic at the University of Helsinki– where she still teaches. Algorithmic is developing advanced quantum algorithms that run on near-term quantum devices to enable the discovery of new drugs and the development of new materials. Working with IBM Quantum and the Cleveland Clinic, they are creating a hybrid quantum and classical solution to help choose and optimize the properties of photosensitizers used in photodynamic therapy for curing cancer. A patient eats a so called protodrug which is not in an active form. Once absorbed by the cells, it is then activated locally by light irradiation. Worth noting that the World Economic Forum recently announced the selection of Algorithmic as one of this year's 100 companies that will be joining its technology pioneers initiative. Había posibilidades de que fuera él. Pero la certeza la hemos tenido solo hoy”, dijo De Luca. Tres escondites Tras su arresto fueron sido descubiertos tres escondites. Todos están en la localidad de Campobello de Mazzara, a tan solo nueve kilómetros de donde nació, el pueblo de Castelvetrano. No son búnkeres, sino meros apartamentos. De hecho, el jefe mafioso vivía como un ciudadano común: iba al supermercado, al bar y a pasear. La pregunta que muchos se hacen es si es posible que el hombre más buscado del país llegara a pasar totalmente desapercibido en una ciudad de apenas 12.000 personas. Algunos de los médicos que le trataron se hicieron incluso selfies con él. El alcalde de Campobello, Giuseppe Castiglione, reconoció que es difícil aceptar que el capo se sintiera allí protegido: “Espero que sus colaboradores sean pocos, porque si no fuera así, habremos perdido todos. Todo el Estado italiano. Porque sería una realidad horrible. Pero lo excluyo. La mayor parte de la gente aquí es honesta. Y luego como en todas las sociedades hay criminales”, subrayó. Ya han sido arrestados dos colaboradores y la policía investiga a muchos más. Mientras tanto, el mafioso está recluido en una prisión de máxima seguridad en el centro de Italia. Por el momento se niega a colaborar. Quizá cuando sea juzgado decidirá revelar cómo logró mantener su imperio criminal en pie por tanto tiempo.
