In today's Daily Fix:CD Projekt wowed the internet after a Witcher 4 demo running on a base PS5 was showcased at an Unreal Engine 5 event. The've has since confirmed it's taking a "console-first" approach to the game, and though it may upset PC gamers, dev team CD Projekt RED has good reason. Cyberpunk 2077 was developed with high-end PCs in mind, and then scaled down for last-gen consoles PS4 and Xbox One. Cyberpunk 2077's launch on those platforms was a trainwreck, to say the least, and somethng CDPR wants to avoid for The Witcher 4. In other news, Borderlands 4's standard edition will not make the price jump to $80, instead launching at $70—likely in response to the absolute beating Gearbox's Randy Pitchford took online after his comments on a possible price hike for the game. And finally, Nintendo's Switch 2 is a hit, but a few Pokémon fans aren't having a great time after transferring—and losing—decades of Pokémon saved game progress.

In today's Daily Fix:Electronic Arts has cancelled its solo Black Panther game and shuttered the developer, Cliffhanger Games. EA is doing some cost-cutting elsewhere, as well, with around 300 roles affected across multiple teams. It's another blow to an already tumultuous industry where AAA gaming with big IPs usually mean skyrocketing costs. In other news, work on Cyberpunk 2 has officially started over at CD Projekt. The game will be a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, which infamously had a pretty rocky launch on last-gen consoles back in 2020. However, most of the company is still hard at work on The Witcher 4, which does not yet have a release date. In today's Daily Fix:The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has been out for several weeks now, and the more gamers put time into it, the more problems they find. Our colleagues at Digital Foundry ran tests on all available versions of the game, and found significant performance issues on the console and PC versions. One of the worst issues would be a hard crash of the game that happens when loading the same save too many times, and a camera problem when playing the game for too long. There's also framerate hiccups all throughout the game across all versions. In slightly happier news, Tony Hawk wants a remake of Tony Hawk's Underground, the sub-franchise of the popular skating games that debuted in 2003. With the release of Tony Hawk's 3 + 4 later this year, we could be one step closer to another remake. And finally, Marvel's Thunderbolts*—sorry, Marvel's The New Avengers—remained number 1 at the domestic box office in its second weekend. Globally, New Avengers is approaching $280 million, but needs to hit around $360 million to "break even" for Disney.

In related Nintendo news, there's some confusion over a disclaimer Nintendo has for the Switch 2 version of Tears of the Kingdom. Currently, it sounds like the game won't support the cloud saves you may have via Nintendo Switch Online. A similar disclaimer was placed on the Switch 2 versions of Breath of the Wild and Mario Party Jamboree, but have since been removed. You will still be able to get your old saves over via manually transferring your data, but it would be a lot more convenient to do it over the cloud. And finally, a new form of currency has been added to Marvel Rivals. Unstable Molecules will be used to change the color of your costume, at about a rate of 100 unstable molecules to every U.S. dollar.

The game also saw two million players in its first weekend, and strong reviews from critics and longtime fans.

In today's Daily Fix:In an ongoing lawsuit regarding Ubisoft's shutdown of the online racing game, The Crew, Ubisoft is insisting that customers don't own the games they buy, instead they're purchasing a license to play those games. Ubisoft claims that legal print in the The Crew, as well as on the packaging of physical copies, clearly state that Ubisoft can shutdown the game with 30 days' notice. This could have larger ramifications in the games industry, considering how many live-service games are already popular. In other news, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild will cost gamers a pretty penny if they're buying the Switch 2 enhanded editions from scratch. If you don't already own a Switch 1 copy of Breath of the Wild, a new Switch 2 version will cost a full $70, and DLC is not included (which is an extra $20). Current owners can upgrade for $10, and members of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack get it for free. And finally, kids are going absolutely ballistic for A Minecraft Movie.
