On the latest edition of the show, it's time for T.J. and his guests to get a little nostalgic, as two huge fight anniversaries happened four decades ago this week with Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard. T.J. welcomes Marquis Johns, Sr. Writer of Big Fightweekend.com, and historian Lee Groves of RingTV.com and his own boxing history books to the show. The guys discuss "The Greatest" Muhammad Ali recapturing the Heavyweight title for a second time, when he defeated Leon Spinks in a rematch in the Louisiana Superdome in 1978. Lee gives great perspective on how Ali got "the magic back" for one more night. They also go over the anniversary of Leonard's epic World Welterweight title win over unbeaten Thomas "Hit man" Hearns the same week but three years later in 1981 in Las Vegas. It was part of the "Four Kings" who ruled the middle divisions of boxing in the late 70s through the early 90s with Robert Duran and Marvin Hagler. And, they became the wealthiest non-Heavyweights ever in doing so. Finally, T.J. and Marquis go over the limited fight cards for the weekend that was supposed to have Canelo Alvarez going for Super Middleweight supremacy but its delayed until November. Still, there are a couple of Premier Boxing Champions cards on back to back nights in Bakersfield, CA that Marquis has insight on for fans. Jeff Fox & Gumby Vreeland are back breaking down this weekend's massive (in quantity, not necessarily quality) UFC Fight Night: Smith vs Spann (aka UFC Vegas 37). A fifteen-fight lineup, many of them with very close odds, means this could be a nice payday, assuming the boys make the correct picks. Elsewhere, they recap a very successful (financially) Dana White's Contender Series #3, eulogize the great Norm MacDonald, and Jeff humble brags about the podcast's worldwide success. This episode is definitely not box office poison. The moth joke Make sure to subscribe to our feed(s)! How much longer will the boxing public "buy into" Youtuber turned boxer, Jake Paul, headlining on PPV and what about the intriguing fight card in Leeds, England Saturday? We cover it all on the latest "Big Fight Weekend" podcast. Host T.J. Rives is back to cover Paul's decision win in Cleveland over former MMA fighter, Tyron Woodley, that headlined the Showtime pay per view. T.J. welcomes Sr. Writer of BigFightWeekend.com, Marquis Johns, to discuss that card from last Sunday night. And, they are joined by Boxing reporter/host, Carlos Toro, who was there in attendance. Toro gives his insight on what the arena atmosphere of 16,000 was like, the impressive undercard for the PPV and could a more skilled boxer have beaten Paul, if not knocked him out, last Sunday? The three guys then go over the Matchroom Boxing card in Leeds, England for Saturday night there (Saturday afternoon U.S. time). The main event has a Featherweight non-title rematch between England's Josh Warrington and Mexico's Mauricio Lara. Lara stunned the unbeaten Warrington with a KO earlier this year and now the Brit wants revenge. Also on the card is Women's Undisputed Lightweight Champ and one of the most prominent female fighters in the world, Katie Taylor. And unbeaten English Welterweight Conor Benn, the son of former World Champ Nigel Benn, is also in action on the undercard. It's the latest edition of our show and host T.J. Rives is ready to go over the latest in the "sweet science" and get in a full preview of the Jake Paul-Tyron Woodley PPV card from Cleveland, OH, on Sunday night. As always, T.J. is joined by Sr. Writer fo the site, Marquis Johns and their special guest is Dan Canobbio of Compubox (punch stats) and his popular show "Inside Boxing Live" airing on Pluto TV and Fubo Sports. T.J., Marquis and Dan first go over the Yordenis Ugas upset of Manny Pacquiao last Saturday night, one more time. Dan gives his thoughts on whether Pac-man is done? And, what's next in the Welterweight division? Then, the guys turn to the most prominent fight card of the weekend, as former actor turned YouTube famous, Jake Paul is back in the boxing ring. Paul will fight for the fourth time professionally and is again taking on a non-boxer in former UFC Welterweight champ, Tyron Woodley. The two will square off in the Showtime main event and it's a chance for Paul to increase his credibility somewhat if he scores another big win. Then again, he's younger, taller and heavier than Woodley and some think this is a farce, again, from the word "go." Dan gives some thoughts on all of it. Finally, T.J. and Marquis breakdown the whole Paul-Woodley fight card and what fighters to watch. And, they go over the betting odds, including the plays on props and under/overs, as well. In this episode of the Golf Gambling Podcast on the Sports Gambling Podcast Network, Boston Capper (@boston_capper) and Steve Schirmer kick off The Northern Trust betting show with their general leans of how they're approaching the week. Then Steve gives a quick weather report and how it'll affect the tournament. Boston Capper and Steve first start by breaking down the DFS pricing on DraftKings. Topics include their favorite pivots over $10K, mutual love for Cameron Smith, and Steve goes deep into the dumpster for one of his favorite plays of the week. Then the boys bring on Pamela Maldonado of Yahoo! Sports to help break down the betting card for The Northern Trust. Pamela starts by revealing how she handicaps tournaments and which stats she relies on the most. Then the three of them give out their best bets of the week, including First Round Leaders, positional props, matchups and outright bets for The Northern Trust. Thank you very much to Pamela Maldonado for joining us on the show! You can follow her on Twitter @pamelam35 and see all her best bets every week over on Yahoo! Sports.
