On this episode of CHRIS AKIN PRESENTS..., Chris and Erik dive into the world of flea markets. They explore if there's a market for Erik's used stage clothes. This discussion takes a fascinating turn as they share their thoughts on the value of memorabilia. Next, they tackle the chaos at the Capulet Fest, a festival canceled midway through a band's set. Why? The organizer didn't pay the rent! It's a wild story that sheds light on the pitfalls of event management. Erik then shares a surprisingly positive experience with Delta Airlines. But Chris has a contrasting tale, highlighting a negative experience from Skid Row guitarist Snake Sabo. This back-and-forth brings a balanced perspective on customer service in the airline industry. Finally, Chris delves into military training, discussing how people used to freeze up during actual "live" training. His insights offer a unique look into the pressures of military exercises. This episode is a rollercoaster of topics, from music to travel to military stories. Don't miss out! #FleaMarketFinds #StageClothes #CapuletFest #EventFails #DeltaAirlines #CustomerService #SkidRow #MusicMemorabilia #FestivalChaos #MilitaryTraining #LiveTraining #MusicTalk NOTE: Everything said here, and on every episode of all of our shows are 100% the opinions of the hosts. Snake Sabo spent years suffering in silence, afraid to talk about his experiences with severe depression, anxiety, trauma, and self-harm. Now, he speaks openly about his journey and shares our passion for breaking the stigma around mental health. We're thrilled to welcome Snake Sabo, a legendary musician and the guitarist of heavy metal band Skid Row. In this vulnerable conversation, Snake opens up about receiving a mental health diagnosis in the 1970s, before any information or support was available to him. He shares stories of overcoming generational trauma, abuse, and self-harm as a teenager. We talk about how he found his calling as a musician, how he got his nickname from Jon Bon Jovi, and the healing power of music. We also explore how he supports his mental health on tour, and the tools he turns to today to manage anxiety and depression. What stands out to me the most is how the stigmas Snake faced in the 70s and 80s still persist today. “The big silence is what makes this thing become perpetual,” he said. We're breaking those patterns with conversations like this. Thank you for being a part of our movement!Remember – for the month of September, in collaboration with National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, we're seeking your support to raise $10,000 to help 100 people through our Therapy for All program. I'd never met any of the three original members of Skid Row before I did an interview with Rachel Bolan last year, and since we've become friends. Great guys, killer band to this day! Rachel and "Snake" Sabo joined me as we talked about the past year, which found the guys adding a new singer, recording an awesome album, and hitting the road non-stop. To say it's been a whirlwind of a year would be an understatement. We talk about seeing KISS for the first time and how that concert changed Snake's life. Since I did this interview on 3/13, which is Detroit's main area code, I asked the guys what the city has meant to them. "The Motown thing had such a huge influence on my growing up" Snake told me. Are they working on new music? Yes. Rachel said they've never started writing this early after releasing new material just last fall. They talk about singer, Erik Gronwall, and his upbringing and love for classic music. I asked them about the '18 and Life' contest. They explain that, that classic song and more. If you're in the southeast Michigan area, they're playing the Motor City Casino Soundboard with Buckcherry on Wednesday, March 15th. I'll see you there! Kow Wetzel is next. Is he a country guy dipping his toes into the rock world, or the other way around? We talk about, as well as partying at Kid Rock's house in Nashville, his outlaw influences, why his music sounds like it does and lots more. He's playing a sold-out show at the Masonic Temple in Detroit on March 25th. -Meltdown- https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/

Lots covered in a short amount of time on this episode of Talkin' Rock. The Smashing Pumpkins are on tour with Janes Addiction. Billy talks about what it's like to be back out and playing in front of the fans again. We talk about the upcoming three album, three rock opera ATUM records. He explains the process and vision of that project. Plus, a little wrestling talk to round it out. The new Skid Row album drops on October 14th, so Snake was making the rounds and gave me a few minutes to talk about The Gang's All Here. I also enlisted some "fan" questions from a guy named Rachel Bolan, Rob Hammersmith and a couple other guys, Scott Ian and Frank Bello....wink, wink.
