Where there is darkness, there is an immense opportunity for light. The Big Silence aims to normalize conversations around mental health and empower people to turn their challenges into triumphs. Hosted by Karena Dawn – mental health advocate, wellness entrepreneur, co-founder of Tone It Up, and New York Times bestselling author – The Big Silence is creating a safe space to share our story, and for you to share yours. Like so many, Karena has experienced profound grief and trauma. Growing up with a mother diagnosed with paranoid-schizophrenia, her childhood was filled with traumatic experiences that resulted in repressed emotions of guilt, shame, depression, and eventually, a suicide attempt. Though filled with this darkness, Karena was able to find deep joy. And with The Big Silence, she's creating a space for you to find that joy, too. This podcast will feature in-depth conversations with psychologists, spiritual leaders, public figures, friends, and anyone who has been impacted by a mental health condition – either themselves, or through a family member or a friend. Suffering in silence only reinforces the stigma behind mental health issues and builds boundaries that prevent healing. Wherever you are, whatever you're going through, you have a spark of greatness inside of you. No more embarrassment, no more shame, only healing. -- A non-profit 501(c)3, The Big Silence Foundation provides resources and support to anyone directly or indirectly impacted by mental illness. 'The Big Silence' theme song was written and performed by James Nicholas Kinney.

The Big Silence podcast is an incredibly informative, raw, and empowering show hosted by Karena Dawn. Having followed her journey through Tone it Up for years, I had high expectations for this podcast, and it did not disappoint. The show brings in a diverse range of perspectives on mental health, wellness, and life, which is one of its greatest strengths. It provides a platform for voices that may differ from our own experiences or mindsets, allowing listeners to gain new insights and broaden their understanding.

One of the best aspects of The Big Silence podcast is its ability to tackle tough subjects with grace and vulnerability. Karena and her guests openly discuss mental health challenges and share their personal stories in a way that is relatable and comforting. This level of authenticity creates a safe space for listeners going through similar struggles to feel understood and supported. Additionally, the podcast offers valuable tools and resources for dealing with mental health issues, making it not only informative but also practical.

Another positive aspect of this podcast is the impact it has had on breaking the stigma surrounding mental health. By sharing her own story and featuring the stories of others, Karena has created a movement that encourages open conversations about mental illness. This normalization of discussing mental health is crucial in helping people feel less alone and more comfortable seeking help or support.

While it's difficult to find any significant flaws in The Big Silence podcast, one minor aspect that some listeners may find challenging is the occasional "woo-woo" content. However, this is subjective and depends on personal preferences regarding spiritual or alternative approaches to mental health. Overall, the podcast strikes a good balance between scientifically grounded discussions and more holistic perspectives.

In conclusion, The Big Silence podcast is a powerful platform that brings visibility to important conversations about mental health. Karena Dawn's genuine compassion shines through as she shares her own experiences while providing valuable insights from experts in various fields. This podcast has the potential to change lives by inspiring individuals to seek help, fostering empathy and understanding, and normalizing discussions around mental health. It is a must-listen for anyone interested in mental health awareness and personal growth.
