Episode 625: A series left unfinished in the Bronx has the Pod asking even more questions about the 2026 Red Sox. Trade Rumor Season has officially arrived following the news that All-Star closer Aroldis Chapman is on the trade block. The Buy vs. Sell debate surrounding the trade deadline continues, along with discussion of the fallout from Brayan Bello's demotion to Triple-A. Steve answers for his weather-prediction debacle and shares stories from Yankee Stadium during Game 1 of the series. WC-40's performance with runners in scoring position continues to earn praise from everyone on the podcast, as does Chapman's gritty performance on one leg in New York. The conversation takes a turn during the Game 3 discussion, as concerns continue to grow over Marcelo Mayer's lack of power and Justin Slaten's recent blowups heading into trade deadline season. Tune in as the guys preview the upcoming series against the Tampa Bay Rays, and let's all find out whether the Tampa Bay weather will allow the local nine to get all three games played inside the new-and-improved Tropicana Field. 00:00:00 - It's Officially Trade Rumors SZN  00:07:11 - Finding Love in Worcester, Massachusetts   00:11:31 - Roman Anthony's Cast Keeps Growing  00:15:54 - Friendly's Nostalgia  00:21:58 - Red Sox-Yankees, no juice in 2026 00:25:18 - A Weather Weekend Debacle  00:37:49 - Game 1 vs Yankees  00:41:00 - Sonny Gray Recap  00:46:22 - Andruw Monasterio's Mega Bomb 00:48:57 - WC-40's Renaissance 01:01:06 - Keeping Track of The Ketchup   01:04:49 - Chapman vs Volpe  01:15:05 - Aroldis Chapman's Next Team?    01:26:19 - Stevie P in The Bronx + Tyler In The Bronx??? 01:41:27 - Game 3 vs Yankees   01:42:15 - Ranger Suarez Recap    01:46:25 - That 8th Inning… 01:48:59 - Sox Improving on ABS?   02:00:19 - Marcelo Mayer's Power Outage 02:07:11 - T's Technical Freakout  02:08:59 - Stop And Shop  02:17:34 -  Weather Lookahead  02:21:41 -  Predictions 02:26:10 - Final Thoughts SECTION 10 MERCH IS HERE: https://section10merch.com Trade $20 Get $20 on Kalshi - http://kalshi.com/r/SECTION10  Get Blue Moon Non-Alcoholic Belgian White Belgian-Style Wheat Brew delivered by visiting http://get.bluemoonbeer.com/JARED for delivery options Find out why Nutrafol is the best-selling hair growth supplement brand. On the latest episode of Past Our Prime, we dive into one of the most memorable moments in baseball history — the May 31, 1976 cover of Sports Illustrated that captured a dramatic home plate confrontation between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. The cover photograph, shot by Neil Leifer, showed Red Sox catcher Carlton Fisk (#27) making a tag out on Yankees outfielder Lou Piniella (#14), with home plate umpire Terry Cooney visible in the frame. Piniella was ruled out at home, but the collision sparked a bench-clearing brawl, and the cover's headline captured the rivalry perfectly: "Head-On Collision in the East — Speeding Yanks Run Into the Sputtering Red Sox." The brawl turned ugly when Yankees third baseman Graig Nettles and Boston pitcher Bill Lee fought so fiercely that Lee suffered a separation of his left shoulder, significantly affecting the rest of his pitching career. It remains one of the most iconic covers in the magazine's history, perfectly encapsulating the fierce and often physical rivalry between the two American League East rivals. Steve "Psycho" Lyons carved out a nine-year MLB career with the Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox — where he was a teammate of Carlton Fisk — the Atlanta Braves, and Montreal Expos. He earned his nickname through antics like playing tic-tac-toe in the infield dirt and famously pulling his pants down after sliding into first base — a blooper reel staple for years. After retiring, Lyons became a three-time Emmy Award-winning broadcaster for Fox Sports, where he worked alongside Lou Piniella, before later joining NESN as a Red Sox studio analyst — proving, as he once said, that he talked about the game better than he played it. Lyons gives us incredible insight into Fisk, the Hall of Fame catcher, and reveals that for some reason, the serious Fisk would let the younger Lyons give him the business. He recounts how Fisk told Deion Sanders to run out a popup — leading to yet another bench-clearing incident — and how Fisk, as captain of the White Sox, was the hardest worker in the clubhouse. Lyons also takes us inside that iconic cover shot of Fisk and Piniella colliding at the plate and the brawl that followed, and reflects on how the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry back then was a whole different animal compared to today. And he tells us how he wishes he'd had the opportunity to play for Piniella, who brought that same fire to the game that Lyons himself always did — and yes, he sets the record straight on how he really got the nickname "Psycho," and no, it had nothing to do with dropping his pants in the middle of a game. If you enjoyed this episode, please download, review, and subscribe to Past Our Prime — and help spread the word to every baseball fan who loves the game the way it used to be played. Reflecting on that time, I rediscovered the pure passion and exhilaration that drew me to radio in the first place. Amidst the chaos and challenges, we found endless moments of hilarity and camaraderie. Alongside Carl, Vic, and Sherrod Small, we shared unforgettable experiences both on and off the airwaves, our tight-knit bond shining through every episode. That year also marked Carl Ruiz's meteoric rise to stardom, inspiring me to launch the Opie Radio podcast with him. I'm immensely grateful to Erock, Clubsoda Kenny, Paul, and Louis for joining us on this wild ride. Get ready to dive into the rollercoaster of emotions—the highs, the lows, and the laugh-out-loud moments—that defined my last year in radio.
