SummaryIn this episode, the hosts discuss the trend of gaming franchises being revived and then quickly abandoned by developers. They specifically focus on EA's decision to put the Dead Space franchise back on ice after the successful remake. They explore possible reasons for this, including the inability to monetize the franchise through microtransactions and the impact of subscription services like Game Pass. They also discuss the larger issue of developers prioritizing long-term monetization over creating fully released games. The hosts express concern with this trend and its negative impact on the gaming community.Chapters00:00 The Revival and Abandonment of Gaming Franchises07:56 Prioritizing Fully Released Games Over MonetizationSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/gzchopshop. The Hawkbinge Release Day Reaction Pod crew assembles to give the hottest of red-hot hot-takes on the latest from the Hawks, "Stories From Time And Space", which dropped today! A journey in time for us for sure, from 1992 where Hawkbinge was last seen - it's good to give the DeLorean another run out. Please note: Andy, Matt and Joe have managed to give the album a couple of listens, jumped on a Zoom call and then handed over to Matt to madly edit this together so we can drop it on the day, so it may sound a little rougher than usual. Also remember that this is a pretty instant reaction, not a deep-dive, and it will be very interesting to see how we come back to this when we reach the last few episodes of the canon studio album deep-dive episodes.Click here for the Hawkbinge Sessions Vol.1 playlist on SpotifyClick here for the Hawkbinge Sessions Vol.2 playlist on SpotifyClick here for the Hawkbinge Sessions Vol.3 playlist on SpotifyClick here for the Hawkbinge Sessions Vol.4 playlist on SpotifyClick here for the Hawkbinge Sessions Vol.5 playlist on SpotifyClick here for the Hawkbinge Master playlist, also on Spotify. We truly appreciate all the tweets, messages, ratings and comments, and if you'd like to get in touch, you'll find Hawkbinge here: @hawkbinge on Twitter and Insta, and email podcast@hawkbinge.space Check out the Deep Dive Podcast Network @DeepDivePodNet on Twitter.

In episode 232 we welcome our guest, Luis Perez, Founder of Remoov. In today’s episode, we’re getting organized. We’re talking about taking the work off your hands of removing all of that unwanted clutter. We discuss the idea that was prompted by the observation of inefficiency in the college move-in, move-out process. Luis took it upon himself to store outgoing students’ items over the summer, and sell them to incoming students in the fall. He found a market and traction, and today he’s running and growing this model with Remoov. We discuss operations and trying to find efficiency in this capital intensive business through technology and innovative processes. We get into the logistics of entering new markets and targeting demographics such as baby-boomers that are likely to be downsizing. We talk about how the COVID pandemic has impacted the business, and the ‘on-your-feet’ thinking that led to Remoov opportunistically connecting with downsizing businesses. All this and more in episode 232 with Luis Perez.
