    Ivy Insights

The In This Together with Dr. Josh + Christi podcast is an absolute gem in the world of marriage and parenting podcasts. As a wife and mother, I have found this podcast to be an invaluable source of wisdom and practical tips that I can apply to my everyday life. Whether it's navigating the ups and downs of marriage or finding effective parenting strategies, this podcast provides a breath of fresh air and guidance.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is the relatability and authenticity of Dr. Josh and Christi. They share their own experiences and struggles, making them feel like real-life friends rather than distant experts. I appreciate that they cover a wide range of topics, from basic to difficult, and that their advice is always grounded in biblical principles. Even non-Christian listeners can find value in their approachable and non-judgmental style.

Another great aspect of this podcast is the addition of FAH in 5, which are five-minute episodes packed with great tips that stick with you throughout the day. These quick nuggets of wisdom are especially helpful for busy parents who don't always have time for longer episodes.

On the downside, some listeners may find that not every episode resonates with them or addresses their specific concerns or challenges. However, given the wide range of topics covered, there is likely something for everyone at some point.

In conclusion, The In This Together with Dr. Josh + Christi podcast is a standout among marriage and parenting podcasts. It offers valuable advice and encouragement for strengthening familial relationships while keeping Jesus at the center. Whether you're a seasoned parent or just starting out on your journey, this podcast has something to offer everyone. Give it a listen - you won't be disappointed!

Every individual is given gifts and talents, ways they can influence the lives of those around them for the better. Even more, every family is unique. The currencies you value as a family define how you live. What are your values? The currencies that shape your family? Is it time together? Certain hobbies or activities? Adventure? Or perhaps achievement? You may even find that the values you live by are not the values you want to be living by. That's what the matrix does. It sucks us into living a burdened life. As we keep looking to move “Beyond the Matrix,” asking the question, “Why are we doing what we are as a family?” this episode is a conversation on vision, direction, and purpose. What would happen if we could walk into any room bringing our identity, rather than getting our identity from it?   Following up our episode on giving kids joy permission comes an episode on how to experience joy as a byproduct of walking daily with Jesus in our true identity. When we're not walking in our true identity, we'll get it from one of three places:what we havewhat we door how we think other people see us.   In this episode, Steve Petermeyer, a coach with Identity Exchange, joins us to talk about how we can know our true identity, identify when we're believing a lie about who we are, and how to invite Jesus into telling us the truth.  Steve also walks through questions we can ask in our faith communities to get us beyond small talk, go below the surface, and live out our unique identity. For example, what are you doing that God never asked you to do? Are there any lies that you're believing? What is one fear you currently have? If, as Steve says, “More is caught than taught,” when it comes to raising our children, imagine the implications of living out of our true identity as fathers and mothers.  In this episode, Steve discusses:Why all external conflict is the result of internal conflictThe two worldviews that influence our identity and how we relate to the world around usThe two ways we act when we're walking in our false selfFour ways to walk with God more intimately, discover your identity, and live in your true selfWhat it looks like to “remember” our identity as we walk with and pray to Him each dayHow to recognize an emotion, confess it to God, and ask Him what the truth about that emotion really isHow we can disciple our children on how to hear from GodShow Notes:  Check out Living Fearless by Jamie Winship. Click here.https://amzn.to/3UhGyjC Listen to Jamie Winship talk about abundance versus scarcity worldviews.Click here.https://youtu.be/2s3KWZFCH0A?si=YNR6bAF7ZW8xsZq_ To learn more about Identity Exchange, click here. https://www.identityexchange.com/coaching

There are so many parenting debates happening right now in the culture at large. Screentime. Discipline. Should we argue with our kids? How do we set boundaries with them? What kind of parent does it take to raise a strong and loving child? The President of Love & Logic Institute, Dr. Charles Fay joins us to talk about his new book, with colleague Dr. Daniel Amen, Raising Mentally Strong Kids. This might be one of the most light-hearted conversations we've ever had around what is arguably the most shaming role on the planet—parenting. Dr. Fay provides super practical insights on raising strong and loving kids. Here are some key quotes from this episode: On the goal of parenting: “We bond with people who are strong and loving. We don't bond with people who are strong but they're cold. And we don't bond with people who are loving but they're permissive and wishy washy. We want to, in the best way we can, emulate God. We want to be strong, and we want to be loving.” On cultural busyness: “Families don't go off the rails because they do too many bad things; it's because they do too many good things.” On sibling rivalry: “When it comes to sibling rivalry, who owns the relationship problem? When we jump in all of the time and become the hero, it makes it worse.”Dr. Fay helps us understand: What mental hygiene looks like for our kids. Why kids are going to fight the boundaries they know they need the most. The two ways to not get pulled into arguing with your kids and why they are so important. How to set boundaries with kids. What to do with phones and technology. How to manage sibling rivalry in innovative ways that help them own the relationship problem.Show Notes: Grab a copy of Raising Mentally Strong Kids by Dr. Daniel Amen and Dr. Charles Fay.https://amzn.to/48QldTx Ladies, sign up for Tender & Fierce Group Coaching Cohort with Christi!
