What to Pack and Wear for a Summer Vacation in Orlando

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 3, 2025 17:26

Summer can be a great time to vacation in Orlando, but visiting during July and August has some key differences that will impact what you pack and what you wear.We Bust the Myths About What You Really Need to Bring and Advice to IgnoreFor starters, Orlando summers are hot, humid and often wet. Afternoon thunderstorms are a near-daily occurrence, and temperatures hover in the high 80s to mid-90s (°F) and sometimes top 100°F. Add in the Florida humidity and you can expect to experience heat like you've never felt before.Still, summer vacation in Orlando can be fun and has a few benefits, as long as you're aware of the weather and prepare for it. So how do you stay cool, dry, and comfortable while still enjoying your vacation? Here's your essential Orlando summer packing guide:Summer Clothing for Orlando: Think Light, Breathable and Fast-Drying1. Lightweight T-Shirts and Tops When it comes to travel shirts and t-shirts, choose lightweight, moisture-wicking materials like performance blends or soft cotton. Avoid anything heavy or clingy. Thick cotton tees can get soggy quickly in the humidity or during a daily afternoon downpour.Tip: Be sure to plan your wardrobe so that you can swap out a shirt if you need to change midday after rain or sweat.2. Quick-Dry Shorts or Skorts The top pick here is athletic or casual shorts made from fast-drying and lightweight materials.   These types of shorts are more practical than denim or heavy canvas shorts, both of which hold moisture and can feel heavy and uncomfortable. Skorts are also a great option for women who want a mix of comfort and coverage.3. Comfortable Footwear You'll be walking a lot, especially in theme parks. Go for breathable sneakers or well-ventilated walking sandals with good support. Also, shoes that dry quickly after a downpour are great for summer vacations in Orlando. There are also a growing number of waterproof running shoes that are perfect for summer in Florida. Tip: Avoid flip-flops unless you're heading to the pool or water park. If you want to wear sandals, make sure they're made for long walking days and can handle getting wet.4. Lightweight Rain Jacket or Poncho: Yes or No? Afternoon thunderstorms roll in daily like clockwork in the summer.   If you're a poncho person, a compact rain poncho or a lightweight, breathable rain jacket will save you from getting drenched—and cool down drafts from intense indoor A/Cs. However, these plastic wraps can also make you hot sticky and uncomfortable in the oppressive Orlando summer humidity.   Instead, we recommend a super small travel size umbrella as a better option, the kind that fold to fit in the palm of your hand. Remember, you'll dry quickly if you don't mind a little summer drenching. We find this preferable to wrapping ourselves in plastic and cooking in the Florida heat.5. Sun Protection Gear For the record, sun protection is always something to keep in mind. Consider the following when you pack for your Orlando summer vacation:Wide-brimmed hat or baseball capUV-blocking sunglassesSwimsuits (bring more than one)Cover-ups for pool daysOrlando Summer Heat Accessories: Do You Really Need These? You'll often see these items recommended, but it is really worth lugging around extra gear? We don't regurgitate the same old stale advice. Here are the straight yes or no answers.1. Refillable Water Bottle (No) Staying hydrated is key in the Florida heat. An insulated refillable water bottle can keep your drink cold all day. However, many theme parks have free refill stations and you can also get free ice water at any time from any quick service restaurant at Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando. So, no, we never bring a refillable water bottle, but you might want to lug one around.2. Sunscreen (Yes) Choose water- and sweat-resistant SPF 30 or higher. Reapply every couple of hours, especially if you're outside all day. 3. Small Daypack or Sling Bag (Yes)While we recommend carrying around the least possible amount of stuff, if you do have a few things, then these small bags are perfect for carrying your rain gear, water, sunscreen and snacks. Look for a water-resistant option or bring a plastic bag to protect electronics when it rains.4. Portable Fan or Cooling Towel (No)Battery-powered fans or cooling towels are often recommended while waiting in lines or walking around midday. Sure, theme parks and other stores want you to buy this stuff, but this kind of extra stuff is really not necessary. A refreshing stop in the A/C with an ice water goes a lot further than a tiny little battery fan that you have to carry around. Remember, you're not traveling to the middle of a remote desert, so don't pack like you are (avoid the tired old repeated hype of so many "expert" travel blogs). There are plenty of better ways to stay cool (including fun theme park mister cooling stations). As far as cooling towels go, the truth is that any moistened towel or facecloth will do the exact same thing. Cooling towels marketed that way are nothing special (it's all marketing). Any towel will give you the cooling effect and this method will cool you down if you are overheated. But don't spend money on something marketed as a cooling towel. Grab a face cloth from the hotel room and you're good to go.5. Ziplock Bags or Waterproof Pouches (Maybe)These can be useful for keeping electronics or important documents safe when those summer storms hit and even for water rides where you risk getting splashed. What Not to PackHeavy clothing – You won't wear it and it takes up bag space.Heels or fashion shoes – Choose comfort over style, especially in the summer.Thick denim jeans – Too hot and slow to dry. Not a summer essential in Orlando.Big Umbrellas – Often impractical in busy parks; we recommend a tiny palm size version.Final Thoughts on Packing for an Orlando Summer VacationPacking smart for an Orlando summer vacation is all about staying cool, dry and comfortable.Choose breathable fabrics, prepare for both heat and rain and don't forget the sunscreen. With the right gear, you can focus less on discomfort and more on making magical memories.Bonus Tip: If you're planning theme park days, pack a change of socks and stash them in your bag. Wet socks + walking = guaranteed blisters. Plus all onsite hotels at Walt Disney World have laundry, so dry those wet clothes or shoes if you need to.Shop at 1923 Main StreetThank you for listening to the Travel Style Podcast at 1923MainStreet.com.Shop unique and original travel inspired and subtle Disney travel clothing, including t-shirts, sweatshirt, hoodies, dresses, swimwear and more at 1923 Main Street.Follow along on X,

Fashion Travel Tips: How to Dress for the City You're Exploring

Play Episode Listen Later May 27, 2025 16:00

If you're a fashionista when you travel, there's a certain magic and charm that comes with dressing for the city you're exploring—not to try to fully blend in, but to become part of the story told by each destination. How to dress for a trip to New York, LA, Paris, London and Rome. If You Like to Bring Outfits on Vacation, Here's How to Do ItAt 1923 Main Street®, we believe your clothes should say as much about your journey as your photos do. Whether you're wandering through the lively streets of New York City, café-hopping in Paris, or soaking up the west coast vibes of LA, we've got you covered—literally.Let's talk travel style: unscripted, effortless and rooted in curiosity. Here's how to pack with purpose and style, wherever your itinerary takes you.Fashion-Forward Travel Outfits for Five Popular City DestinationsNew York City: Urban Pulse Meets Creative EdgeIn the city that never sleeps, your style needs to move with you—fast, fresh, and bold. For summer in NYC, keep it street-smart and breathable. Rock our Unscripted Statement graphic tee with relaxed cargo shorts or distressed denim. Swap the leather jacket for a lightweight button-down or leave it out altogether. High-top sneakers still rule, and bold sunglasses or a bucket hat add just enough edge without trying too hard. NYC style is about individuality—make a statement without shouting. For men, pair the same tee with slim, cuffed chinos or athletic shorts and standout sneakers. Leave the jacket at home, but keep the energy strong with layered chains or a structured cap. Whether you're downtown or crossing bridges, your look should feel effortless but always on.Paris: Effortless Chic on Cobblestone StreetsParisian style thrives on thoughtful simplicity, even in the summer. Trade heavy layers for a lightweight tee or tank (our Unscripted Dare to Roam design works perfectly) paired with high-waisted shorts or a breezy midi skirt. Add minimalist sneakers and a woven bag—or yes, a beret if you're feeling bold. The key: looking effortless while still turning heads. It's style without the show. For men, lean into quiet sophistication with a crisp tee, tapered chinos or linen pants, and clean leather sneakers. Swap the trench for a linen overshirt if there's a breeze. A slim watch and classic sunglasses seal the look. Parisian summer style whispers confidence—cool, collected, and always chic.Los Angeles: Laid-Back LuxeLA is home to many different categories of style, so your outfit here calls for comfort with a definite style edge. Our vintage-wash Roam Freely Wear Boldly tee is the perfect base for denim shorts, a flannel tied around the waist, and oversized sunglasses. This is a city where your look should feel as relaxed as your agenda—unplanned, free, and sun-kissed.For men, try our Unscripted Adventure Arch tee with joggers or shorts and comfy clean sneakers. Add a lightweight overshirt or open button-down for layering and finish with retro shades. London: Timeless Cool with a Rainy-Day TwistLondon style in summer is all about effortless cool and being ready for anything. Start with a breathable short-sleeve tee or linen shirt, then add tailored shorts or relaxed trousers. Swap boots for crisp white sneakers or sleek loafers, and don't forget a lightweight tote or statement sunglasses to elevate the look. Londoners master the mix of classic and unexpected—think a retro cap or a bold crossbody to finish it off. Sun or shade, the style always shines. For men, aim for laid-back polish with clean lines—our Unscripted Statement tee is a go-to. Wear it solo or toss on a light overshirt for breezy evenings. Pair with drawstring chinos or rolled denim, and complete the outfit with low-top trainers. A minimalist watch adds that refined summer touch. Londoners know how to make sunshine look effortless.Rome: Sun-Drenched Elegance with a Hint of DramaSummer in Rome is all about effortless elegance that sizzles with style. A linen-blend tee tucked into high-waisted trousers or a flowy midi skirt is perfect for wandering cobblestone streets or sipping espresso at a café. Add strappy leather sandals and oversized sunglasses for that classic Roman holiday feel. Gold accents—think hoop earrings, a sculptural cuff, or sleek cat-eye shades—bring just the right amount of drama. In Rome, style is art. Dress like you belong in a Fellini film. For men, keep it cool and polished with the same breathable tee, tailored linen pants or dressy shorts, and a slim leather belt. Loafers or crisp white sneakers are ideal for strolling through piazzas, and vintage-inspired sunglasses add a refined finish. In Rome, confidence is quiet and style is second nature—keep it sharp, simple, and sun-ready.The Key to it All: Blending in Without Losing YourselfThere's an art to the balance between respecting local culture and holding on to your personal style. That's where 1923 Main Street graphic designs really shine. So, you're going on a Disney vacation and you want to plan the perfect family look without looking like you're all heading to the office team-building retreat. Coordinated Disney Family Outfits That Don't Scream "Tacky Tourist"Matching outfits can be Disney adorable, but let's be honest: there's a fine line between coordinated and cringe. So how do you keep the magic alive and look like you belong on a curated Instagram feed? Fortunately, there are a few ways that you can nail the “together but tasteful” Disney matching outfits look. The Problem with the Common Matching Disney T-ShirtsYou've probably seen them. From early morning rope drop, to unpredictable weather and evenings filled with fireworks, packing smart can make a big difference. That's where a capsule wardrobe comes in: a capsule wardrobe is a thoughtful collection of versatile, mix-and-match pieces that let you travel light without sacrificing comfort or style. At 1923 Main Street, we design a collection of subtle Disney-inspired apparel for travelers who love the magic, but who want to keep things stylish without too much effort. Here's how to build the perfect capsule wardrobe for your next Disney vacation—whether it's a short hop of three days, or a full week's vacation. What is a Capsule Wardrobe—and Why is it Perfect for Disney Vacations?A capsule wardrobe is a small, intentional collection of clothing that can be mixed and matched in multiple ways. The goal of a capsule wardrobe is to have fewer items, but be able to create more outfits. A capsule wardrobe is all about efficiency and planning for your destination. For Disney vacations, this approach is especially helpful because it has several benefits:Less and Lighter luggage: Save your luggage space for Disney souvenirs and skip the checked baggage fees.Less Outfit Stress: Spend your time choosing your next ride or snack and not stressing over which outfit to wear.Know that You're Ready for anything: From rain to heat to chilly indoor dining, your smart layers strategy will have you covered. The Core Items for a Disney Capsule Wardrobe: Three to Five Essential PiecesStart with a few versatile basics that can be worn in multiple combinations:Two to three graphic tees – Soft, lightweight and breathable tees with a touch of personality are a perfect choice. Our castle shadow t-shirt This is My Story is a popular tee for this reason: it pairs well with anything.A neutral tank or tee – add versatility with a neutral colored lightweight tank or t-shirt that will go with any outfit and is great for layering. One pair of comfortable shorts – Think neutral tones like khaki or soft denim. One pair of casual pants, leggings or joggers – Ideal for cooler nights or travel days. A layering piece – A hoodie or crewneck sweatshirt with a subtle Disney touch is a must-have.One versatile dress or romper (optional) – Easy to dress up or down for a nice dinner or character dining. How to Choose the Right Graphic Tees and LayersYour Disney wardrobe doesn't have to scream characters or anything else. Subtle, well-designed graphic tees (our speciality at 1923 Main Street) make your outfit park-appropriate and stylish beyond the castle gates. When choosing tees and sweatshirts:Go for soft neutrals: Grey, navy and lighter soft colors mix easily.Think theme: Match your tee to your park day. Planning to explore Animal Kingdom? Try our Animal Kingdom Coffee Co. hoodie as an outer layer.Layer intentionally: Florida mornings can be cool at many times of the year and indoor rides and Disney buses are almost always chilly. Bring a sweatshirt or hoodie that you can wear every day if needed.Sample Packing Lists for Any Disney World VacationHere's how to build your capsule wardrobe depending on the length of your trip:Three-Day Getaway Disney Weekend or Short Hop2 graphic tees1 pair of shorts1 pair of joggers/casual pants/leggings1 layering piece1 pair of sneakersSwimsuitMix Example: Day 1: Tee 1 + shorts Day 2: Tee 2 + joggers/casual pants/leggings Day 3: Tee 1 + joggers + sweatshirtFive-Day Disney Vacation3 graphic tees1 pair of shorts1 pair of joggers/casual pants/leggings1 layering piece1 casual dress or skirt1 pair of sneakers, 1 pair of sandalsSwimsuitMix Example: Rotate tees with different bottoms and layer as needed. The Graphic Hoodie Style Dilemma for Travel Style Influencers: What You Need to Know

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 29, 2025 13:53

This episode is for all the fashion influencers out there. Recently we covered comfort versus style when it comes to choosing the right hoodie (or hoodies) to pack for your vacation.Three Reasons that Graphic Hoodies Can be Dicey to Pack and How to Get Around ThemNow, we're going to talk purely about fashion. We all know that vacations are prime time for outfit pics, with unique surroundings, fun vistas and once-in-a-lifetime potential to capture that viral fit pic.  Plus, depending on where you're going, you might also want to elevate your look beyond cool casual. This is where the graphic hoodie you love can get dicey, Why? Because graphics hoodies can have some minuses if you're not careful with your outfit and photo planning:Visually Loud: Bold graphics on a hoodie can clash with the rest of your travel wardrobe. A hoodie that screams "skate park energy" or “theme park crazy” might not vibe with a quaint Parisian café or a minimalist Tokyo boutique (let alone the pastoral beauty of an awesome landscape as a backdrop)Style Limitations: A graphic hoodie doesn't easily dress up. You can't really rock it to a nice dinner, a night out, or a cultural venue with a dress code.Travel Aesthetic: If you're curating a travel aesthetic—think coastal chic, urban minimalist, or boho traveler—a graphic hoodie might throw off the entire vibe. All of these are potential outfit breakers. That is, if you don't plan ahead. If you're packing light and hoping to build a cohesive, Instagram worthy travel wardrobe, a hoodie covered in memes, logos, or band names might stick out like a sore thumb. Here's How to Answer the Travel Hoodie Question: Should You Pack It?Yes—if:Your vacation involves a lot of transit time or unpredictable weather. You plan to dress casually and prioritize comfort. The graphic matches your personal style or travel aesthetic.Maybe not—if:Your trip leans toward high-end experiences or has a formal element. You're working with a minimalist packing list and every item must multitask. You're aiming for a more curated travel aesthetic.Pro Tip for Travel Packing and Hoodies: Meet in the MiddleStill on the fence about packing that travel graphic hoodie? Go for a neutral-toned hoodie with a subtle graphic—something that reflects your personality without dominating your outfit. This way, you can stay comfy and stylish, no compromise necessary. At the end of the day, the graphic hoodie is neither hero nor villain—it's all about how well it plays with the rest of your suitcase. Choose wisely, pack smart, and enjoy the journeyWhat's your take—are you team graphic hoodie, or team leave it at home? Shop at 1923 Main StreetThank you for listening to the Travel Style Podcast at 1923MainStreet.com.Shop unique and original travel inspired and subtle Disney travel clothing, including t-shirts, sweatshirt, hoodies, dresses, swimwear and more at 1923 Main Street.Follow along on X, Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.Thank you for listening and have a magical day!Mike Belobradic and Amelia Belobradic--Media provided by Jamendo

The Top Five Things That Make the Right Graphic Hoodie the Ultimate Travel Item

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 22, 2025 16:19

Are you a minimalist packer or do you pack more than one outfit per day? It can be an endless tug-of-war between what you know is right and what you know is, well, you.One item of apparel that's often caught between two worlds is the humble graphic hoodie. What makes the ultimate travel hoodie?Packing for a vacation can be a struggle between wants and needs. What clothes do you want to bring and what clothes do you need to bring? When you're standing in front of your packing pile, deciding what makes the cut for your next adventure, does a hoodie feel like a must or a miss? If you think a hoodie's a must, it's probably because it's soft and versatile. Your favorite hoodie has been with you through everything from long-haul flights to late-night walks back to your hotel. But not all hoodies are created equal—especially when you're packing light and traveling far. (Do you know the history of the hoodie and how it was invented?). But hoodies are also big and bulky items. It's particularly challenging if you're trying to keep your luggage to a minimum. Whether you're on a two-week European vacation or spending a week at Disney World, no one wants to bring more baggage than they need to.The good news is that style and comfort don't have to be at odds when it comes to travel hoodies. With the right travel hoodie, you can have both. Let's talk about what makes the ultimate travel hoodie—and why your go-to might need an upgrade. Why a Hoodie is a Travel Must-Have ItemBefore we get into style, let's talk practical function. To put is simply, the hoodie is the Swiss Army knife of your travel wardrobe. It's a built-in blanket on freezing airplanes and chilly train rides. It's an extra layer when the weather turns or the sun sets faster than expected. It's low-maintenance. No ironing, no fuss, no worries. It fits every vibe—airport runs, café lounging, sightseeing strolls, theme park visits and even spontaneous hikes. In short, a good hoodie keeps you warm. A great hoodie keeps you looking cool while doing itWhat Makes a Hoodie Travel-WorthyThere are the five things that we look for in a good travel hoodie:1. Fabric That Breathes (and Doesn't Bulk Up)If you're wearing a hoodie, you want that unmistakable cozy factor, but without sweating through airport security. Watch for midweight cotton blends that feel soft but don't trap heat. Bonus if it has a brushed interior (can you say softness?) and holds up to multiple wears without getting baggy.

Park Hop Athletics™: The Story Behind the Apparel, by 1923 Main Street®

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 15, 2025 12:17

This is the story behind the creation of the Park Hop Athletics Collection by 1923 Main Street and how a single event prompted a whole new way of thinking.Hop. Play. Repeat. This is how the Park Hop Athletics trademark collection was created. When Walt Disney World first opening in 1971, it was a much simpler place. We had one theme park (Magic Kingdom), two hotels (Disney's Polynesian Resort and Disney's Contemporary Resort) and Fort Wilderness Campground. That was it.For over a decade, we had endless fun at this original Walt Disney World. The monorail was as much a part of the whole experience as anything else. But when Disney acted to complete one of Walt Disney's final project dreams, a second park finally opened in 1982 (in fact, it was 11 years to the day: October 1, 1982).1982 Was the Year When Park Hopping Became a ThingWhen EPCOT opened as Disney World's second park, something else happened: park hopping suddenly became a reality for Walt Disney World visitors. Now, your amount of fun doubled, because you could hop from one park to another on your vacation on the same day, if you paid for the privilege. And with that, park hopping officially became part of the Disney World vacation lexicon.Being a part of this formative period in Disney World history is what led Mike Belobradic to create the Park Hop Athletics™ collection at 1923 Main Street®. Park Hopping is Fun and Has Benefits, but it isn't for Every Disney TravelerOf course, nowadays, park hopping is much more ingrained into the Disney travel experience – plus you have four theme parks that you can potentially hop between. But one thing hasn't changed: park hopping isn't for everyone. Cost aside, it does take a little stamina and will to want to park hop at Walt Disney World. Many years ago, Disney resort hotels used to present you with a special paper certificate if you managed to hop between all four Disney World parks in a single day. They no longer do this (perhaps because it isn't as big of a challenge any more, given more transportation options), but still, four parks in one day is as much a part of the park hop experience as is two parks on the same day.Park Hop Athletics™ by 1923 Main Street®: Inspired by the Magic of Park HoppingThe 1923 Main Street Park Hop Athletics Collection was inspired by that first park hop experience back in 1982. With a variety of designs that celebrate the ability to Hop. Play. Repeat.™ at Walt Disney World, Park Hop Athletics clothing is truly steeped on this longtime rite of passage. The Park Hop Athletics Collection by 1923 Main Street is comprised of graphic t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies that feature a wide range of authentic original designs, perfect for anyone who loves to take part in this time-honored Disney World tradition. In fact, if you combine rope dropping with park hopping, you can truly make the most of your Disney day. (Read the back story of our Rope Drop Apparel™ Collection here).Within the Park Hop Athletics Collection you'll find graphics inspired by Disney Park hopping in collegiate style, along with unique skateboard and snowboard themed graphics (inspired by the board parks in both sports) and even more themes, including beer and Park Hop Princesses. What's the Best Way to Store T-Shirts, Sweatshirts and Hoodies: Fold or Hang?

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 8, 2025 12:56

When organizing your casual clothes at home, deciding whether to fold or hang can make a significant difference in maximizing space and keeping your clothes in good condition. T-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies each have different storage needs due to their fabric type and structure. How You Store Your Tops Can Depend on a Few Things, So Which Way is Best? Here are the best ways to store each of these items, along with some tips and considerations to keep in mind to keep your favorite clothes looking their best.T-Shirts: Fold or Hang Based on MaterialFor most t-shirts, folding is the best option. Hanging t-shirts can cause the fabric to stretch over time – particularly around the neckline and shoulders – which leads to an unflattering shape that's hard to get back to normal. However, if your t-shirts are made of 100% cotton or a high-quality, structured fabric, hanging can be a good option to prevent wrinkles.Classic Fold: Lay the t-shirt flat, fold in the sleeves, and fold it in half or thirds for easy stacking.KonMari Fold: Fold into a compact rectangle that can stand upright, allowing you to store them vertically in drawers for easy visibility and access.Hanging Option: Want to hang your t-shirts? If so, it's important to choose the right hangars. Use velvet or padded hangers to prevent stretching. Avoid wire hangers, which can create those dreaded shoulder dimples over time.Storage Tip: If drawer space is limited, use shelf dividers or storage bins to keep stacks organized and prevent them from toppling over.Sweatshirts: Fold to Save Space (But Hanging Can Work Too)Sweatshirts are much bulkier than t-shirts and should generally be folded rather than hung to prevent stretching the shoulders out of shape. The thicker material of sweatshirts makes them ideal for stacking. However, in some cases, hanging can be a practical option as well. Here's what to consider:Flat Fold: Lay the sweatshirt flat, fold the arms inward, and then fold the body in half or thirds for a neat pile.Hanging Option: If you wear a sweatshirt frequently and prefer easy access, hanging on a sturdy, wide-shouldered hanger can help to maintain its shape without causing stress on the fabric.Storage Tip: Stack sweatshirts on shelves or in storage bins to avoid overcrowding drawers. If space allows, roll them to prevent creases and make them easier to grab (more on this option below).Hoodies: Fold to Preserve Shape (But Hanging is Possible)Hoodies should generally be folded rather than hung. Their heavy fabric and the added weight of the hood can stretch the shoulder seams and distort the fit if left on a hanger for too long. Some people like to hang hoodies because it makes them easier to see. So under certain conditions, hanging might be a good option (but there are a few things to know):Hood-Tuck Fold: Lay the hoodie flat, fold the sleeves inward, tuck the hood into the body, and fold into a compact square.Drawer-Friendly Fold: If storing in a drawer, roll the hoodie after folding to save space and minimize wrinkles.Hanging Option: If you prefer to hang hoodies, use thick, padded hangers to support the weight and prevent stretching. Lightweight hoodies made of thinner materials or performance fabrics are less likely to deform and may hang well.Storage Tip: If hanging, fasten any zippers or drawstrings to help the hoodie maintain its shape. Avoid thin hangers, which can create dents in the shoulders and can crack under the weight of the hoodie over time.Rolling: A Space-Saving AlternativeEver roll your clothes when packing? Rolling can be an excellent alternative to folding t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies at home, especially if you have limited drawer or shelf space. This method works particularly well for t-shirts and sweatshirts but can also be used for hoodies with proper technique. For T-Shirts: Rolling t-shirts allows for easy visibility in a drawer, prevents deep creases, and makes the most of available space. For Sweatshirts: Rolling can be helpful for thinner sweatshirts, keeping them compact while reducing folds and wrinkles. For Hoodies: If drawer storage is preferred, roll hoodies tightly after tucking in the hood to minimize bulk.Storage Tip: Store rolled items in a bin or drawer organizer to keep them neatly arranged and prevent them from unraveling.Final ThoughtsFor most casual wear, including t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies, folding is the best way to store them to preserve their shape, prevent stretching and optimize storage space. However, high-quality cotton t-shirts may be hung if the right type of hanger is used. Additionally, lightweight hoodies and frequently worn sweatshirts can be hung with proper support to maintain accessibility without causing damage. Rolling is another efficient storage method that saves space, reduces wrinkles, and improves organization. Consider your available space, frequency of use, and preferred organizational style when choosing your storage method. With a little planning, you can keep your cherished t-shirt, sweatshirt and hoodie collections tidy, accessible and in excellent condition.Shop at 1923 Main StreetThank you for listening to the Disney Travel Style Podcast at 1923MainStreet.com.Shop unique and original Disney-inspired clothing, including t-shirts, sweatshirt, hoodies, dresses, swimwear and more at 1923 Main Street.Follow along on X, Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.Thank you for listening and have a magical day!Mike Belobradic and Amelia Belobradic--Media provided by Jamendo

How to Pick the Perfect Sized T-Shirt, Sweatshirt or Hoodie Online

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 1, 2025 12:58

Buying clothes online can be a challenge when it comes to sizing. You can't try-on the items, so you have to go by general sizes. It gets even more challenging because sizes are not always consistent across brands. You can go by instinct, but that's not always reliable. So your best bet is to use the size guides offered by the shop.Tips for how ensure you buy the right sized t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodiesHere at 1923 Main Street, we want to be sure that you get the right-sized product that you are expecting. So we try to make it as simple and straightforward as possible to ensure you pick the perfect sized t-shirt, sweatshirt, hoodie and more. How to Use the Size Guides at 1923 Main StreetWe do our size guides a little differently than many other shops and we believe that our approach to size guides will help you to get the size that you want, with much better results. There are two ways that we make it easier for you to ensure that you pick the right size for your 1923 Main Street t-shirt, sweatshirt, hoodie and other items. Here's what we do to help.1. Clearly Identifying the Base ItemFor t-shirt, sweatshirts and hoodies we use a variety of blank base apparel items from well-known and established manufacturers. These are widely used by many casual wear clothing companies (only a select number of clothing companies actually make their own t-shirt blanks and so on). So to make sizing easier for you, we always tell you what the underlying base item is for each article of clothing. We don't try to hide it, we make sure to have full transparency for our customers. This way, if you already own a piece of clothing that uses that same blank garment, then you will know which size to choose (or whether you want to size up or size down). So, we are very transparent about the clothing we sell so that you will have a better purchase experience when it comes to size and quality.2. Providing a Size Guide That's Easy to FollowThe second method we use is our unique and easy-to-use approach to size guides. For every item we sell, you will find a size guide as the final image on the item's product page. For our size guides, we use the measurements provided by the blank item's manufacturer. So, if you don't know (or own anything) printed on the blank base item for the product you want to buy (method 1, above), then the next best thing is to find a t-shirt, hoodie or sweatshirt that you already own – and that you like the sizing of – and use that as a baseline. We use lay-flat sizing in our size guides. Here's what to do: take a t-shirt that you already own (and that is a size that you like) and lay it flat on the floor. Have a tape measure or ruler on hand. Then, use the size guide for the 1923 Main Street t-shirt that you want to buy and measure your t-shirt along the straight lines noted in our size guide. You can then compare the measurements of your shirt to the options in the size guide. This is a great way to find the size that is as close as possible to what you want. It's also helpful if you want to size up or size down (for example if you want an oversize fit or a more snug body-hugging fit).Always remember that any shirts from any manufacturer can also have a margin of error from production (they can vary in size by an inch wider or taller, for example). We note this in the size guides as well, so that you have full awareness of the potential variance in size due to production and fabric variances.Casual Clothing That's Custom Made When You OrderCustom produced apparel such as what we create at 1923 Main Street means that every item we sell is custom made for you when you order. As an environmentally responsible business that does not want to send unsold clothing to landfills in far off countries, we do not keep any items in stock or have a large inventory of unsold sizes. Instead, we follow a production-on-demand model. This means that the item you receive was custom made just for you. When you order it, we make it (this is why it can sometimes take a day or two longer to ship). This is, in our opinion, the most sustainable and environmentally responsible approach to fashion and apparel. It also means that because everything we sell is custom made, we cannot offer returns, exchanges or refunds. We do not keep any items “in stock” and we have no inventory. Custom-made apparel is final sale (as is the case with most other clothing companies that follow this environmentally and ethically responsible model). This is why we have a very clear policy of no returns, refunds or exchanges. We make sure to post this in several places (including at checkout). Full transparency throughout the purchase process is very important to everyone at 1923 Main Street. It's how we do business and how we like to be treated by others when we shop.As a result, it is very important to us that you take the time to get the right sized item when you order. Hopefully this article will help you to make the perfect size choice on your next order from 1923 Main Street.Shop at 1923 Main StreetThank you for listening to the Disney Travel Style Podcast at 1923MainStreet.com.Shop unique and original Disney-inspired clothing, including t-shirts, sweatshirt, hoodies, dresses, swimwear and more at 1923 Main Street.Follow along on X, Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.Thank you for listening and have a magical day!Mike Belobradic and Amelia Belobradic--Media provided by Jamendo

Spring Style: What People are Wearing at Walt Disney World

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 18, 2025 11:18

Spring has arrived at Walt Disney World and your Disney vacation is coming up, so what should you plan to pack and wear?Fashion Trends in Disney Parks for SpringWe studied what people are wearing this spring at Walt Disney World, and added our recommendations for the best types of clothing to pack and wear for your next Disney vacation. Now that the Orlando weather is turning much warmer, you'll need to pack accordingly to ensure that you are comfortable -- particularly for park visits. The most common and comfortable outfit for a day in the parks this spring is the classic t-shirt and shorts combination. Lightweight tees are a good choice, but you will still be fine in a standard heavyweight t-shirt.T-Shirts are Still the Most Popular Top for SpringFor t-shirt colors, one thing to note is that the majority of guests are still wearing darker colored tees, coming out of the winter months. Approximately 20 per cent of Disney Park guests are wearing white tees and tops, while 10 per cent are wearing very dark (or black) tops. With the spring weather settling in, the darker choice of t-shirt/top colors is still fine. However, it is getting warmer, so bear in mind that the darker colors will attract more heat from the sun. We are not yet into the true heat of an Orlando summer, but still, black is likely on its latter end of being an optimal color. So if you prefer these darker shades, you should be good to go until closer to the middle or end of May.If you get uncomfortable in the heat or want to focus on maintaining a cool body temp over the style of your top, we would recommend switching now to lighter color or white t-shirts and tops. Looser fitting shirts will also help to keep you cool as the parks begin to heat up.What Kind of Footwear is Best for Spring Weather?Footwear can also be affected by the heat of the parks. As the pavement gets hotter, you'll want to consider how this affects what type of footwear you choose.Far and away, sneakers or running shoes with good padding are the most popular footwear at Walt Disney World. This is true for several reasons, from the padding that offers extra cushion to the snug fit that will lessen the potential for blisters. Be sure to wear socks and shoes with a breathable fabric will help to keep you going throughout the day. There are a smaller percentage of guests at Walt Disney World wearing flip flops, sandals or tennis shoes/skateboard shoes. These offer less padding than runners and can be a little more punishing when it comes to hot feel from the pavement or tired legs. So be sure to consider what will work best for you and the other guests in your group. For bottoms, shorts of all kinds are still the most popular choice. This works year-round at Walt Disney World, so the main consideration is to go with comfort and style. We are not yet into the true heat and humidity of summer, so inner-thigh heat rash isn't yet a big issue (if you tend to suffer from this during the dog days of summer).Nights are getting warmer as well, meaning that extra layers may no longer be necessary to pack. As always, check the local weather forecast for your week of travel to get specific temperatures for your vacation.Shop at 1923 Main StreetThank you for listening to the Disney Travel Style Podcast at 1923MainStreet.com.Shop unique and original Disney-inspired clothing, including t-shirts, sweatshirt, hoodies, dresses, swimwear and more at 1923 Main Street.Follow along on X, Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.Thank you for listening and have a magical day!Mike Belobradic and Amelia Belobradic--Media provided by Jamendo

The only thing better than getting a new outfit, is finding great photo spots to capture the magic of that gear. Where to Go to Get the Best Pics to Show Off Your New Rope Drop ApparelAs a follow-up to our origin story on the Rope Drop Apparel Collection, in this post we're sharing five great photos spots at Walt Disney World that will be perfect for your next outfit photo shoot.Top Five Photos Spots at Walt Disney World for Rope Drop ApparelWhile each of these Rope Drop Apparel photo spots is great to stand alone on its own, you can take your reel or carousel a step further by creating a sequence in the order they appear below. After all, it's all about storytelling, right? Here's how to tell a story with your Rope Drop Apparel from 1923 Main Street1. Sunrise Photo at Your ResortRope droppers start the day while most guests are still sleeping. So, a sunrise or early morning photo wearing your Rope Drop Apparel t-shirt, sweatshirt or hoodie is the perfect way to set the stage for what's to come.2. At the Park GatesThe anticipation of what lies ahead is what it's all about when you're standing at the front gate of a Disney Park waiting for the park to open. It's a feeling that every rope dropper knows and the front gate photo makes an excellent Rope Drop Apparel pic for your outfit. Do some advance scouting to pick the perfect location and angle for your anticipation photo.3. On an Empty Park WalkwayOnce they let you in the park for rope drop, the initial crowd disperses pretty quickly. This leaves you will virtually empty Disney Park walkways. Take advantage of the rare solitude you'll have to frame a stunning shot of you and your Rope Drop Apparel in a virtually empty theme park. You don't get this opportunity in any other way, so make the most of it by planning ahead for where you want to take your shot and what you plan to do.4. At the RopeThese days, the actual ropes that drop tend to be further inside the park, at the entrances to lands and themed areas. This makes for a fantastic (and literal) photo for your Rope Drop Apparel. Even when there are others with you at the rope, you can usually still frame the shot to have it appear as if you were the only one there. It's easier if you make a bee-line to the rope (the less people, the better).5. Late at Night After DarkTo cap off your Rope Drop Apparel outfit photo shoot, capture a late night/after dark photo of you in your same Rope Drop outfit. If you spend the entire day in the park – from end-to-end – then this will come naturally. But you can also cheat it and head back to the park later to capture the final image. This might be a good idea if you want to look fresh in your photo. Although the tired I've-been-here-all-day look is also quite natural in this scenario. The choice is yours. What are your best ideas and favorite photo spots for a Rope Drop Apparel photo shoot? Rope Drop Apparel, Park Outfitters: The Story Behind the Apparel

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 4, 2025 9:56

If there's one piece of Disney advice that hasn't changed since Walt Disney World first opened in 1971, it's this: if you get to a Disney Park for rope drop, you can do more in the first three or four hours (at no cost), than most other guests who arrive later will do all day.Rope Drop Apparel: Original Graphic Tees, Hoodies and Sweatshirts Inspired by a Rite of Passage for Disney Parks Visitors This is why the concept of rope drop (there are ropes that drop to allow you entry) is so near and dear to the hearts of frequent Disney travelers.Rope Droppers are a Special BreedEven though there are definite benefits to rope dropping a park, rope drop isn't for everyone. Rope dropping takes a special kind of traveler—one who is willing to drag themselves (and their family members) out of bed early on vacation, even before sunrise. This dedicated traveler fuels up with coffee (ideally, I mean it's not a rule or anything) and heads to the park gates before it opens, only to stand in line and wait. But rope droppers know that that seemingly large crowd will disperse in the blink of an eye once the park gates open and the rope drops. And that, dear friends, is when the magic begins. Sure, it's easier just to sleep in and get to the park a couple of hours later…but you will have missed out on the dawn patrol fun. Rope droppers are a special breed of Disney traveler who know sleeping in is not an option. Rope Drop is More than Just Shorter Ride LinesRope Drop is not just about getting on your favorite rides at no extra cost and with very short wait times (you can pay for that privilege all day long if you like). Instead, it's about the extra level of park magic that comes when you rope drop a park.Being among the first to walk through the park gates into a mostly empty theme park is a unique and somehow euphoric feeling. Traveling down walkways with very few guests in sight isn't an everyday occurrence, but it is when you rope drop. Cast Members often line the streets to wave and welcome guests, because the shops are literally empty. These extra bits of Disney Parks magic are valued by a rope droppers who appreciate the little extra bits of Disney magic you get from getting there first. There is really no better way to spend a sunrise wake-up at Walt Disney World.Rope Drop Apparel: Park Outfitters, by 1923 Main StreetAs frequent rope droppers at Disney Parks since the very first days of Walt Disney World when it was only Magic Kingdom Park, we appreciate the value that you get from rope dropping a park. 11 Luxuries that Can Elevate Your Disney Travel Style at Walt Disney World

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 18, 2025 18:02

We all know that a Walt Disney World vacation is magical in its own right, but have you ever wanted to add a little extra style to your stay? Big and Small, 11 Ways You can Add Extra Magic to Your Next Disney VacationWhether it's your first time or your tenth time, you can elevate the style of your Disney World vacation by adding a little extra magic and style (with something for every budget).  The Top 11 Ways to Upscale Your Walt Disney World Vacation with Style Here are 11 easy ways to add a little extra style and flair to your Walt Disney World vacation, they're not all cheap, but there is something here for every price point and Disney travel budget.  Want to Do Your Walt Disney World in Style so that Everyone Feels Extra Special? Why not surprise your travel party with one or more of these 11 Disney travel style experiences? 1. Limo Service $$ Ever since Disney's Magical Express disappeared, guests have had to pay for their transportation to and from Orlando International Airport. A great way to elevate the style of your Walt Disney World vacation is to start at the beginning: with a limo service from the airport to your Disney resort hotel (and back again). You have to pay for transport anyway, so for approximately $200 round trip (give or take a little) you can ride in style and really have a great experience. 2. Stay in a Deluxe Disney Resort Hotel $$$$ - $$$$$ One of the easiest ways to elevate the style of your Disney vacation is to stay in a Disney Deluxe hotel close to your favorite Disney Park. There really is a noticeable difference between Disney Value Resorts, Moderate Resorts and Deluxe Resorts. From a more magical ambiance, to dining, amenities and park proximity, staying in a Disney Deluxe resort hotel can definitely elevate the style of your Disney World vacation. There are Deluxe Resorts at different price points as well, so consider this awesome surprise for your travel party, who will definitely feel they've upgraded their Disney style.  Warming: Please note that it may be very difficult to downgrade your Disney resort hotel category after experiencing a Disney Deluxe Resort.3. VIP Tour or Backstage Experience $$$ - $$$$$ A great way to do Disney vacation in style is with a VIP Tour or other backstage experience or tour. Not only will you feel extra special on any guided tour, but this is Disney Parks style in its finest form. I mean, you get a lanyard (and sometimes more), so that says traveling in style right there…right? There are many tours from which to choose (from the ultra-premium VIP tour, to more price-friendly park-themed tours), so be sure to check them out and book in advance as they can fill up quickly.4. Disney Club Level Accommodations $$$$$ Staying in a Disney World Deluxe Resort is one thing, but you can elevate that experience even further if you really want to go in style. By choosing a Club Level room at a Deluxe Resort, you'll open up a whole new world of upscale style – from Club Level Lounge offerings to private Club Level Concierge's – that will really put the style meter to a whole new level. 5. Lightning Lane Premier Pass $$$ If a VIP Tour is not in your budget, the next best way to add a similar style experience to your vacation is with a Lightning Lane Premier Pass. With this pass, you and your party can use the Lightning Lane for every single attraction in one park, one time each, for one day, without having to make any reservations. Sound great? It can be and it's a good way to do a Disney Park in style.  6. Disney Fireworks Cruise $$$  Don't feel like standing in crowds to watch fireworks or the nighttime show at Magic Kingdom or EPCOT? No problem, do it in style by booking a fireworks cruise experience. Boats can hold up to 10 guests and you are chartering the entire boat, so if you have less than 10 guests this can really feel like the ultimate in Disney style. 7. Grand Floridian Spa Experience $$-$$$ Nothing says going in style like a relaxing time at a spa and the ultimate spa experience at Walt Disney World is located at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa (it's right in the name!). With an elegant Victorian style and a relaxing garden-inspired atmosphere, you can elevation your Disney vacation time with a spa experience that suits your style. There are even couple's offerings and something for your 14-17-year-olds if you they go with you. Relax and recharge in style after a day in the parks. 8. Stay in a Disney Deluxe Villa $$$$ - $$$$$ While a Disney Deluxe Resort is a worthy style elevation, you can take it in another direction by booking a Disney Deluxe Villa. With a Deluxe Villa, you'll get all of the amenities of the Deluxe Resort, but your room (studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom or three-bedroom) will be more like a vacation villa or condo than a hotel room. Relax in style with your own kitchen/kitchenette, dining area, laundry facilities and more. Make your Walt Disney World vacation a villa vacation (and you don't need to be a Disney Vacation Club member to book one). 9. Create Your Own Disney Popcorn Mix $  Want to go in style with your snacking? Who needs the same old snacks that any Disney guest can buy when you can custom create your very own Disney popcorn? This is a fun and inexpensive way to elevate your vacation snacking style. You can find this unique experience at the Kernel Kitchen in Magic Kingdom Park (where the old hat shop used to be in Town Square). 10. Capture Your Moment $$ Photo memories from Walt Disney World are classic, but you can take your in-park photo experience to the next level by booking a Capture Your Moment photos session in your favorite park. You'll definitely feel special during this experience and you'll come away with lifelong photo memories and a magical time! Search “Capture Your Moment” on the Disney World website. 11. Aerophile Hot Air Balloon Ride, Disney Springs $ If you want to elevate the style of your Walt Disney World vacation literally, then a hot air balloon ride at Disney Springs is definitely worth it. This is super fun on clear days and at night (if you time it with fireworks, you're in for an extra special treat), as you get some amazing views and photos from 400 feet in the air. Instead of just watching the Aerophile balloon soar over Disney Springs, why not surprise your group with an experience they'll never forget. The balloon holds 29 people, but there are times when it's not full to capacity, which makes it even more magical. Definitely a unique way to experience the world in style.Shop at 1923 Main StreetThank you for listening to the Disney Travel Style Podcast at 1923MainStreet.com.Shop unique and original Disney-inspired clothing, including t-shirts, sweatshirt, hoodies, dresses, swimwear and more at 1923 Main Street.Follow along on

Main Street Swagger: Behind the Apparel by 1923 Main Street

If you know, you know. It's a feeling that every Disney traveler experiences.  Whether it's your very first Disney vacation or your 20th Disney vacation, there's one common and magical moment that every visitor experiences: that first walk up Main Street U.S.A.Subtle Disney inspired graphic t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies designed to capture that Main Street feeling  It's a feeling that says “we're here.” A feeling when the magic is palpable and the anticipation of everything that's about to come is all around you. Few things encapsulate the magic of a Disney moment than a walk up or down Main Street. It affects how you walk, what you wear and what you do. For those who embrace it, we call that feeling Main Street SwaggerTM and we designed a whole collection to celebrate that feeling. What is Main Street Swagger? Main Street Swagger comes in many forms.  Do you get dressed up, or put on a specially-selected outfit for your first walk on Main Street? Maybe it's a special shirt or a special Mickey headband or Mickey ears. Even kids in strollers can rock Main Street Swagger in their own way. We've seen it all over the years. Main Street Swagger can be dapper, Disney themed or a vacation vibe. Main Street Swagger can involve:Stopping for that must-have Main Street photo of you with the castle in the backgroud. Rocking a coffee as you swagger up Main Street in style...soaking it all in. Stopping by the Emporium or Crystal Arts to see what you can add to your outfit to enhance your swagger with something new. There's Main Street Swagger in all of that. But Main Street Swagger isn't just about what you wear, it's how you wear it. That swagger is the feeling of magic in your step. That “I'm home” state-of-mind. The Inspiration for Main Street Swagger at 1923 Main Street The inspiration for the Main Street Swagger phrase and collection came from a single photo. There's a photo of Mike Belobradic (1923 Main Street founder) from 1984. Mike has always had Main Street Swagger and this particular photo captured it all. It led the creation of the “Main Street Swagger” phrase and clothing that was born out of that. The photo features Mike walking with swagger up Main Street U.S.A. in March 1984,wearing a tiger-striped black and white shirt, complete with tropical flowers within the design. Everyone around him in the photo is wearing a plain solid-colored shirt. Mike definitely stands out with swagger. It was a bold move and the genesis for how the Main Street Swagger collection came to be. Main Street Swagger means not caring about the world around you as you make your way up Main Street U.S.A. and into the magic. You're home and the magic is within you. That's what Main Street Swagger is all about. What's Your Main Street Swagger? Every Disney traveler does Main Street Swagger in their own way. What to Pack and Wear to Walt Disney World in February 2025

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 28, 2025 12:27

If you plan to visit Walt Disney World in February, be prepared for a month of mixed-temperature weather for your vacation. While the end of winter may be getting closer, it's not here yet (even in Florida), but there is still some good news for your February Disney vacation. Weather Forecast for Walt Disney World in February 2025 The forecast for February at Walt Disney World is for daytime highs that will range from 66°F (19°C) to 82°F (28°C), with nighttime lows between 46°F (8°C) and 63°F (17°C).  Given that this is getting closer to spring – but winter is still hanging on – these ranges are not unusual. On average, February 2025 is expected to be a little cooler than normal, but at this point forecasters are not anticipating another polar vortex to put a chill on your vacation. February will start pretty warm during the day and taper off a degree or two by the end of the month, but overall, it is looking to be a pretty stable month for temperatures. Rain, on the other hand, is a different story. Some rain is in the forecast, but it shouldn't be a huge problem, unless you are traveling the week of February 16. This week looks to be a little unsettled, but hopefully things may change (which is pretty common in Orlando). The last week of the month is forecast to be the sunniest week. What to Pack for Walt Disney World in February 2025 February 2025 is shaping up to be very much a day and night packing month.  This means you'll want warmer weather outfits for the daytime and cooler weather outfits for the evenings and nights. Shorts, t-shirts, dresses etc. should work well for most of the month during the warmer daytime hours. For evenings you'll want to bring a light jacket, hoodie, pants, leggings and so on, whatever you like to wear to keep the chill away.  It's those transitional times in the morning where you'll have to decide what to wear if you head to parks first thing in the morning. It might be chilly then, but it will warm up later. So, will you brave the morning cool in shorts? Or will you bring a layer that you'll have to shed and carry around for the rest of the day? What's Happening at Walt Disney World in February 2025 The EPCOT International Festival of the Arts continues until February 24. So, if you want to plan a special wardrobe for this event, that can be fun.  Another important event to note is that the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend is scheduled for February 20 to 24. This is a fun event for participants, but it can cause havoc with your travel schedule and getting around. Bear that in mind if you're visiting at that time. And, of course, it's Valentine's Day on February 14, so if you're there at that time then appropriate Minnie attire is usually a big hit!Shop at 1923 Main StreetThank you for listening to the Disney Travel Style Podcast at 1923MainStreet.com.Shop unique and original Disney-inspired clothing, including t-shirts, sweatshirt, hoodies, dresses, swimwear and more at 1923 Main Street.Follow along on X, Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.Thank you for listening and have a magical day!Mike Belobradic and Amelia Belobradic--Media provided by Jamendo

What Your Hoodie Says About Your Style—and How to Upgrade Your Look

When it comes to versatile, stylish and practical clothing, few things can compete with the ever-popular hoodie. And if you're a traveler — especially someone who frequents magical destinations like Disney parks or other unforgettable places — graphic hoodies are more than just a cozy staple, they're an essential part of your travel wardrobe. Wardrobe Game-Changer: Nine Reasons Why Graphic Hoodies are the Ultimate Style HackWhy a Collection of Graphic Hoodies in Your Wardrobe is Better than OneThe nine things you haven't considered when it comes to the humble hoodieWhile owning one graphic hoodie might seem like it's enough, let's look at why having a small collection of graphic hoodies is not just a fashion statement, but also a very functional and fun way to enhance your vacation style and comfort.1. Style That Matches the Mood and DestinationDisney travelers in particular know that your outfit should reflect the magic of your day, whether it's strolling down Main Street, hopping on your favorite ride, or capturing Instagram-worthy moments in front of Cinderella Castle. Each hoodie in your collection should tell a different story.Having a hoodie collection means you can:Rotate hoodies to match the mood or theme of your day (perfect for Disney parks or other destinations where each area has its own vibe).Pair a hoodie with different outfits for fresh looks, whether it's a travel morning at the airport or an evening watching fireworks by the castle.Stay comfortable in varying weather conditions—hoodies layer well with jackets in colder climates or provide just the right amount of warmth during a breezy evening.Having multiple options ensures you're always dressed for the occasion while staying comfortable.2. Functionality for Every Kind of WeatherGraphic hoodies are the ultimate travel companion because they're versatile. With a hoodie collection, you can really cover all bases:Lightweight hoodies are perfect for warmer days or layering during chilly mornings.Fleece-lined hoodies keep you cozy during colder months or in overly air-conditioned shops, buses or planes.Oversized hoodies offer a relaxed fit for long travel days or lounging at your hotel.Even in a light rain or the start of a rain shower, a hoodie is a great item to have—pull up the hood and head for cover.By ensuring your wardrobe has different hoodie types and styles, you'll always have the perfect hoodie for the forecast, no matter where your adventures take you.3. Practicality Meets PersonalityYour wardrobe reflects your personality and a variety of hoodies lets you showcase different facets of who you are. Whether you're channeling your inner magic or proudly sporting designs inspired by your favorite travel destinations, your collection can serve as a wearable scrapbook of your passions and adventures.Plus, graphic hoodies are conversation starters. A fellow Disney traveler might notice your subtle Disney hoodie and strike up a conversation, making your travels even more memorable.4. Stay Fresh on Long TripsLet's face it—travel can be messy. From the inevitable coffee spill on a flight, to dripping ice cream in the heat of a ride line, having just one hoodie on hand isn't always practical. A collection of unique hoodies allows you to rotate through styles, so you always look (and feel) fresh without overloading your suitcase.5. Collect Memories, Not Just HoodiesMany graphic hoodies are designed to commemorate experiences or are inspired by events or activities. A hoodie purchased to celebrate your first park visit, another from a beloved travel destination, and one featuring your favorite travel mantra can all serve as keepsakes. Over time, your collection becomes a reflection of your journeys and the memories you've made.6. Practically Perfect for TravelersTravelers know the importance of packing wisely. Graphic hoodies serve as the ultimate travel companion for several reasons:Versatility: They work for multiple occasions, from a morning coffee run to an adventurous theme park day.Cozy for transit: Whether you're on a plane, train or bus, a hoodie doubles as an extra layer or even a makeshift pillow.Photogenic: Hoodies with unique designs make your travel photos pop, ensuring your memories are as stylish as they are magical. When you own a collection of several different hoodies, you'll always have a hoodie ready for your next adventure, perfectly suited to the destination and experience.7. Versatility Beyond TravelFor the record, your hoodies don't have to stay in the suitcase. They're just as perfect for running errands at home, grabbing coffee with friends, or relaxing with a beverage and snacks to watch a movie. A collection of hoodies ensures you're not always grabbing the same hoodie, which keeps your wardrobe fresh and fun.8. A Hoodie for Every MemoryDo you attach sentimental value to any pieces of clothing? A collection of graphic hoodies allows you to attach sentimental value to each one. One hoodie might remind you of your first visit to Disneyland, while another brings back memories of a whirlwind European trip. Each design tells a story, and over time, your collection becomes a wearable memory wall of your adventures. And the best part? You can relive those memories every time you slip one on, whether you're lounging at home or exploring a new destination.9. A Hoodie for Every Member of the FamilyIf you're traveling with friends or family, coordinating hoodies can be a fun way to add a little magic to your adventure. Matching tees are one thing, but picture your group sporting matching Disney-inspired hoodies or each person. They don't have to be all the same, but within the same theme or color. It's a fun, easy way to bring the travel party together and stand out in classic vacation photos.Ready to Build Your Hoodie Collection?A single graphic hoodie is great, but a collection? That's where the magic truly happens. With multiple options from graphics to color, you'll never be stuck with a single look or vibe. Instead, you'll have the freedom to express yourself, celebrate your travels and stay comfortable no matter where your adventures take you.At 1923 Main Street, we specialize in graphic hoodies that cater to Disney travelers and adventure travelers alike. Unscripted: Behind the Apparel by 1923 Main Street

This is the story behind the Unscripted collection of casual wear by 1923 Main Street. Why it was created and how you're missing out by not traveling unscripted.Discover the Magic of Going UnscriptedIf there's one thing we believe at 1923 Main Street, it's that your best adventures and your best stories rarely come from following a script. That's the inspiration behind the 1923 Main Street Unscripted line of graphic t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies. This collection is for those who live for the thrill of discovery on their own terms—whether that means wandering off the beaten path in a new city or uncovering hidden details in your favorite Disney park. The Inspiration Behind UnscriptedThe Unscripted line was born out of our love for unplanned exploring. As the founder of 1923 Main Street, I have always been a traveler who prefers to explore new destinations without guides. No pre-planned tours. No following the footsteps of someone else's plan. And so the Unscripted concept was created to capture that sense of discovery and exploration. Unscripted is for travelers who prefer the luck of discovery over strict itineraries and those who believe, as we do, that the best experiences come when you follow your instincts rather than a schedule. If you prefer that someone else didn't write your script for you, then Unscripted is for you. Whether it's finding a hidden gem of a café in a quiet alley off the beaten track, or the quiet beauty of a side trail that leads to an epic view, these are the unscripted moments that make travel (of any kind) truly unforgettable. We also drew inspiration from another kind of traveler—one that shares the travel style of Mike himself. This is the Disney traveler who visits theme parks on their own terms. How many times have you heard people who are frustrated by the extreme overplanning “required” to have a great Disney vacation? Or the travelers who come home exhausted after a visit to Walt Disney World and say they need a vacation from their vacation? This is the antithesis of Unscripted.Overplanning is the Bane of Disney Travel (So Don't Do It)Unscripted is not about having no plans at all. Let's face it, some planning is necessary for any vacation, but it's the overplanning that can suck the magic right out of a Disney vacation in particular. With so many travel guides, Disney planning platforms, self-proclaimed Disney influencers and park planning “gurus” telling you what to do, where to eat, where to go and when to do it…your vacation can quickly become robotic, stressful and not enjoyable. You're living somebody else's script, not your own.The Unscripted traveler breaks free of rigid schedules and discovers the parks with a sense of freedom, wonder and curiosity—exactly how Walt Disney intended it to be. Instead of rushing to check everything off a list, the Unscripted Disney travelers savor the hidden magic in the details all around them—like the hidden on Main Street, watching your kids have fun away from long ride lines, the quiet corners of discovery in Animal Kingdom, or the unexpected encounters with Cast Members who make each visit unique. Even if you set aside only a day or two of your vacation to go Unscripted, it can have a big impact on your overall vacation and peace of mind. Try it and you'll see. You may find that your Unscripted day was the best and most memorable day of all.Contact 1923 Main StreetThank you for listening to the Disney Travel Style Podcast at 1923MainStreet.com.Shop unique and original Disney-inspired clothing, including t-shirts, sweatshirt, hoodies, yoga leggings, dresses, swimwear and more at 1923 Main Street.Follow along on X, Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.Thank you for listening and have a magical day!Mike Belobradic and Amelia Belobradic--Media provided by Jamendo

Color choices are a big factor when it comes to buying a new t-shirt, sweatshirt or hoodie. So what are the top 10 trending colors for casual clothing in 2025? We've done the work and compiled a list. What's Trending for T-Shirt Colors in 2025Subtle Disney-inspired fashion isn't just about looking good—it's about feeling good. That's what we're all about at 1923 Main Street, with unique original casual clothing designs inspired by the magic and the travel style of Disney travelers (and more). We know (as do you) that the right outfit can take you from “I'm just here for the rides” to “This is my happily ever after.” Whether you're hitting up the parks in style or just channeling Disney vibes at home when you're not on vacation, 1923 Main Street has everything you need to stay stylish and comfortable. The perfect outfit is a combination of several things, including the perfect t-shirt, sweatshirt or hoodie to go with your style. We know that you care about what you wear and that's why we put a lot of thought into each unique piece of clothing that we create. This includes the garment color. In our last episode we share the top colors and styles from 2024 based on what you spent your money on in the shop. This week, we're looking ahead to what will be the hottest and most popular casual clothing colors for t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies in 2025.The Top 10 T-Shirt, Sweatshirt and Hoodie Colors to Watch for in 2025 Whether you like classic white tees or colorful variations, the base color of any casual top sets the tone for the overall style—and will be a big determiner on whether an item fits your outfit. It's a carefully balanced symphony between the graphic design and underlying color. We always do our best to offer light and dark color variations of base top and then adjust the graphic accordingly, without jeopardizing the integrity of the graphic itself. With that in mind, we have crunched the numbers, fashion predictions of style trends data to come up with what promises to be the definitive top 10 list for t-shirt, sweatshirt and hoodie colors in 2025. Which of these colors will you be buying this year? We won't necessarily be following all of these trends, but here's what you can expect to see globally as you shop for casual clothes in 2025. Top 10 Colors for T-Shirts, Sweatshirts and Hoodies in 2025 1. Classic WhiteThe perennial and original classic white isn't going anywhere this year. It's a classic for a reason (both style wise and from a technical design base perspective), so expect to see the classic white t-shirt, sweatshirts and hoodies wherever you shop. 2. CoralCoral is an interesting blend of red, orange and even a little pink. It tends to be more muted in tone but can be very light or very deep colored. Coral base shirts can have color names such as Terracotta, Burnt Sierra, Pastel Red or Salmon. 3. Olive GreenThe greens are an interesting color for casual clothing tops and olive green appears to be trending for 2025. Olive Green tends to be one of the warmer toned greens with a slight yellow undertone.  4. Powder BlueAnother trending color for this year, Powder Blue is one of the lighter blue colors. It's in the range of blue-greens if you look at a color palette. It tends to be a pale blue color that is much lighter than a navy blue, for example. Color names light Sky Blue or Light Blue would be in this spectrum, with something like a Baby Blue being a slightly more vibrant variation. 5. RedReds are looking to be popular again in 2025, following up on the trend that saw vibrant reds sell well in 2024. There are many variations of reds, but fiery reds will be a dominant red this year. Fiery red is a bold red, with a reddish orange tone. It can be a great base layer for the right graphic design, especially if you're looking for a statement top. 6. MustardMustard is an interesting color. It's sometimes a love it or hate it color, but for those who love it, it can be a statement piece. Rich and warm in tone, mustard is a yellowish-brown color, closer to a Dijon mustard if you consider the condiment. It can be a light or dark shade. Mustard falls somewhere between yellow and orange on the color spectrum. This will be an interesting trend to watch, because mustard has often been considered one of the least popular colors for graphic t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies. Will 2025 be a breakout year for mustard? 7. LavenderPurple is often a popular color and lavender is a very pale purple shade. It can appear in quite a range of shades and tones for t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies. Lavender is best described as a blue-tinged pale, light gray-purple color. It differs from lilac, for example, which is more pink where lavender is blue. In our shop, you may see lavenders more on dresses and swimwear. 8. Neutral BeigeThe neutrals is a trend that we clearly saw emerging in 2024 and it is expected to continue in 2025. Neutral Beige colors make a great base for graphics and as an option to a plain white top. Where white t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies are more stark in nature, the neutrals add a little more color structure and softness, making them a very popular addition to any wardrobe. Watch for color names like Sand or Natural for this color style. 9. PinkThe pinks were popular in 2024 and we expect to see this continue into 2025, based on all of the data and color predictions that we reviewed. Light or pale pinks, in particular, are what to watch for this year for many of the same reasons that neutral beige will be popular (but with a little more distinction than a true neutral color). 10. Navy BlueNavy Blue is a very popular base color for t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies and will be a go-to choice for a dark colored top in 2025. Since black did not make the trending list for this year, it's clear that Navy Blue is expected to be a solid replacement for anyone looking for a dark colored hoodie or top this year. Navy Blue can appear almost black, but it has just enough tone that it appears as a more elegant and rich option. These are the top 10 trending colors for 2025. Remember, this doesn't mean that these will be the top 10 selling colors, but it does mean that these colors will be making an appearance as an option (for those that are not perennial favorites), where you many not have seen them before. What are your go-to colors for Disney travel or casual outfits in general? Will you watch for the trends or do you prefer to stick with the tried-and-true staple colors. Contact 1923 Main StreetThank you for listening to the Disney Travel Style Podcast at 1923MainStreet.com.Shop unique and original Disney-inspired clothing, including t-shirts, sweatshirt, hoodies, yoga leggings, dresses, swimwear and more at 1923 Main Street.Follow along on X, Instagram,

What to Pack and What to Wear to Walt Disney World in January 2025

If you are starting 2025 with a visit to Walt Disney World, here is what you can expect from the weather and special events that will affect what you should pack and wear for your Disney vacation. How to Dress for January Weather at Walt Disney WorldJanuary 2025 Weather in Orlando will be on the Cooler Side, but Not Too Cold Most DaysJanuary at Walt Disney World is a month that is typically not very hot, at least in terms of Florida weather. It is the middle of winter after all. However, if you're traveling to Walt Disney World in January 2025, it is looking like it's going to be a pretty good month in terms of weather as it applies to visiting theme parks and doing other Disney things. Special events at Disney World in January might impact your vacation depending on where you're staying and what you plan to do. Take note that the Walt Disney World Marathon runs from January 8 to 12, 2025 and the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts takes place from January 10 to February 17, 2025. The marathon in particular can cause travel disruptions onsite, so be sure to check for more information about that, if you plan to visit Disney World that weekend.Weather Forecast for Walt Disney World in January 2025The forecast for January 2025 at Walt Disney World is pretty good for a typical January. The forecast is very similar to the pleasant December that just took place and should be good for a winter vacation to Walt Disney World. Yes, it's cool, but most days are not downright cold, making them pleasant for being out and about. For January 2025, Orlando and Walt Disney World daytime highs are forecast to range from 54°F (12°C) to 73°F (23°C), while nighttime lows will hover around 48°F (9°C) to 64°F (18°C). Almost all days, however, will be in the low 70s°F or upper 60s°F.On a positive note, there is very little rain forecast for Disney World in January 2025, so that is a bonus for your vacation. As always in Orlando, however, be prepared for at least one errant pop-up shower just for good measure. What to Pack for Walt Disney World in January 2025While the Christmas holiday season will extend for a few days into January, packing for a January Walt Disney World vacation does not include festive wear.If you are a shorts and t-shirts person (or any of the top five most common outfits for Disney Parks), these should be fine for daytime in January. Otherwise, pants or leggings and a long-sleeve top or light jacket will do just fine. If you plan to spend time outdoors at night, then a hoodie or light jacket is a good thing to bring along. Sometimes it can be windy in the parks at night and that adds a bit of a bite.If you plan to visit the EPCOT Festival of the Arts, feel free to get inspired with a themed outfit for the occasion.Watch for the biggest crowds during the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend. There are six races in total and with road closures and so on, it can be a challenge even getting out of your hotel. Check ahead and be prepared, because if you have an early flight that weekend and you are staying at a hotel on a marathon route you could miss your flight if you don't plan for the delays. All in January, January 2025 is looking to be a great month for a Disney vacation. As always, check the weather forecast for Orlando on a local Orlando weather media outlet the day before you leave for your vacation. That will give you the most up-to-date and accurate vacation forecast.Contact 1923 Main StreetThank you for listening to the Disney Travel Style Podcast at 1923MainStreet.com.Shop unique and original Disney-inspired clothing, including t-shirts, sweatshirt, hoodies, yoga leggings, dresses, swimwear and more at 1923 Main Street.Follow along on X, Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.Thank you for listening and have a magical day!Mike Belobradic and Amelia Belobradic--Media provided by Jamendo

Disney World Christmas Party Style: What are People Actually Wearing?

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 17, 2024 12:29

This week we attended Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and Jollywood Nights back-to-back. We wanted to see if party attire worn by the guests was different at each party. Do party-goers actually take the time to theme their outfits to the event? Here's what we discovered. Are Disney Christmas Party Goers Theming Their Outfits to the Event? Which Disney Party Has More Guests Styled for the Event? In past episodes, we have discussed the unique styles of each Disney park at Walt Disney World, along with the corresponding outfits that make the most sense if you want to style for the park. So we had this in the back of our minds as we assessed what people were wearing at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (Magic Kingdom) and Jollywood Nights (Hollywood Studios).A couple of style points were pretty apparent right away.Outfits at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas PartyMickey's Very Merry Christmas Party has been around since 1983, so party goers have a pretty good idea what it's all about. Most guests at the party were decked out in some sort of Disney style or Mickey wear – many with Christmas or holiday theming. One of the most noticeable trends at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is guests wearing their pajamas (or pyjamas, depending on how you like to spell it). There were quite a few guest with PJs of all kinds, including families wearing matching PJs.Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party definitely has a classic Disney style, which matches that of the Magic Kingdom (which we discussed in a recent episode).Outfits at Disney Jollywood NightsLaunching in 2023, Disney Jollywood Nights is a very new Christmas Party. The theming of the party of 1920s Hollywood glitz and glam, which follows the general theming of the park.We were curious to see how many guests would fully embrace the old-time classic Hollywood style – or that would dress up at all. What we noticed at Jollywood Nights is that while, overall, guests were not as dressed up as they were at MVMCP, those that did dress up really took it to the limit with full dapper glitz and glam.We saw guests in shimmering dresses, zoot suits, high heels, fancy hats and even a few canes. It really added to the ambience of the event overall. In a weird way, standing at attention ready to be processed by the first order next to a group in their 1920s formal wear oddly made the whole Rise of the Resistance experience feel more authentic. As if guests at a formal party were rounded up with the rest of us.Is Dressing Up for Disney Christmas Parties Worth It?Overall, it's safe to say that if you want to get into the spirit of either of these Disney holiday Christmas parties by dressing up for the occasion, you will not be alone.Seeing all of these guests in outfits really adds to the overall ambiance and friendly upbeat spirit of the events. And after all, that's what it's all about.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. You'll Never Look at Sweatshirts and Hoodies the Same After This

While sweatshirts and hoodies may seem very similar (and in fact they're cut from the same cloth), why is it that they're worn very differentlyThe Big Thing You May Not Have Considered When Buying a Graphic HoodieIn a previous episode, we discussed the (very interesting) history of the hoodie and how it was first created by adding a hood and kangaroo pouch to a sweatshirt. This made sense as an evolution of the garment, but with those seemingly subtle additions came a bigger change: hoodies became more of an outer wear item, whereas sweatshirts became more of an inner wear item.Inner Wear or Outer Wear? It's a Grey AreaMost people who buy hoodies consider them to be an outer layer, or at least a middle layer. You probably wear a t-shirt or something underneath the hoodie so that you can take off the hoodie if you get too hot.But how many people wear a t-shirt underneath a sweatshirt and plan to remove the sweatshirt if they get too hot? Even though the body of both items is exactly the same, they are treated quite differently. You could also think of it this way: one could say that all hoodies are sweatshirts, but all sweatshirts are not hoodies.Do you consider this when buying a warm and cozy top layer? The theory was proven further when zip-up hoodies appeared on the market. This marked a further transition of the hoodie from sweatshirt, to jacket or outer layer. Why Hoodies and Sweatshirts May Have Different Graphic DesignsThis difference between the sweatshirt and hoodie is an important factor when it comes to designing graphic sweatshirts and hoodies here at 1923 Main Street. Since the hoodie is considered to be a middle or outer layer by buyers, we choose graphic designs with different considerations than we do for a sweatshirt. That is why on 1923 Main Street apparel you might not always see a certain graphic design available on both a sweatshirt and a hoodie. Sometimes, it's one or the other. The design decision for apparel is often made based on the common use case of a hoodie as an outer layer. Some designs lend themselves well to t-shirts or sweatshirts (which are worn less frequently as than a hoodie), but might not be great on a hoodie -- which might be worn everyday – like a light jacket. The aesthetics of the design also play a role. We tend to keep designs clean, bold and crisp for hoodies, whereas sweatshirts (and t-shirts) offer more room (and space on the garment, literally) for more detailed and colorful graphic designs. These considerations are part of the design process when selecting apparel items for 1923 Main Street graphic creations.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. How to Style an Outfit for Each Park at Walt Disney World

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 3, 2024 14:41

Part of the fun of a Walt Disney World vacation is planning and packing outfits to wear to the parks. Each Disney World park has its own unique identity, vibe and theme, so it can be fun to match your outfits to each park's personality. If you're looking for ideas or inspiration for what to pack and wear to each of the four parks at Walt Disney World, you've come to the right place. What Style to Wear in Each Disney World Theme Park Magic Kingdom – Vibe: Vintage and Original Disney Style As the original Walt Disney World theme park, Magic Kingdom is full of vintage Disney style. When you think of classic Disney, this is the park that most reflects that, which makes it easy to plan an outfit for Disney's Magic Kingdom Park. Casual Disney or Disney-inspired graphics t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, dresses and more are all ideal for Magic Kingdom. Whether it's classic Disney characters or villains, this is the park to rock that style with confidence. The same goes for accessories. Whether it's Minnie themed sunglasses or headbands, or a Mickey hat or ears, your classic Disney apparel has a home in Magic Kingdom Park.EPCOT – Vibe: The Most Fashion-Forward Disney Park If Walt Disney World had a park for fashionistas, that would be EPCOT. This is the park where you can feel free to dress up a little in your favorite designer or Disney-inspired sundress, button shirt, tops, skirts and more. With its abundance of themed festivals throughout the year and the “upscale” (in Disney terms) nature of World Showcase, EPCOT naturally lends itself to being the most fashion forward of all Disney World parks. Here is where you can break out your trendy casual outfits for a walk through world showcase. Sipping a glass of wine, beer or a mocktail lends itself to your Disney resort wear at EPCOT. Plus, you can also feel at home sporting your cultural colors here, particularly during festivals like Food and Wine or Flower and Garden (the latter of which is the perfect time to wear your new floral spring apparel). Accessorizing for EPCOT can mean designer sunglasses, fancy sunhats or your favorite cross-body bag or tote.  Animal Kingdom – Vibe: Go Wild and Get Your Prints On Disney's Animal Kingdom Park is the obvious place for your favorite prints. Whether they're Disney-themed or not, prints and abstract or wildlife styles are all right at home here. Earth tones are a good choice, but don't be shy about adding a splash of color, as that's what you'll see throughout the park at the various marketplaces. If you're looking for a Disney-inspired outfit idea, safari wear is a great choice. Not only will you find Mickey, Minnie, Donald and more in their safari attire, but the park's ambiance lends itself to safari hats, khakis, camo, cargo shorts, safari shirts and more. From a pure Disney point of view, Lion King characters are a great choice, as are pretty much any animal themed Disney inspirations, including Zootopia, Nemo and others. Accessories that work well here follow a similar trend, with safari or animal print ears, bags, phone cases and more being right at home at Animal Kingdom. Hollywood Studios – Vibe: Classic Elegant Disney Mashup with Contemporary Disney IP Disney's Hollywood Studios is the park that offers the widest range of flexibility when it comes to styling your outfit for the day. That's largely because this park has always had a bit of an identity problem (ever since Michael Eisner hastily threw it together to beat Universal Orlando's opening). This is the everything bagel of Disney Parks, where it was all just thrown together in a hurry, but somehow tastes okay. At Hollywood Studios you can be right at home in anything from elegant retro Disney style, to futuristic Star Wars attire or even playful themes from Toy Story, the Muppets and modern Mickey animation. Whichever way you choose to go, use elegant style as a guiding principle for your outfit. At its heart, Hollywood Studios is still the glitz and glam of 1920s Hollywood. So keeping that in mind will help you get just the right touch. Accessories for Disney's Hollywood Studios can follow the generous amount of style options the park reflects, from trendy sunglasses and hats, to Disney-inspired backpacks and more. This is the park where almost anything goes, especially outfits that might not work perfectly anywhere else.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. What to Pack and What to Wear to Disney World in December 2024

December is a truly magical month to visit Walt Disney World. The parks, hotels and shopping areas are all decked out in their festive best for Christmas and the holidays, and the smells and scents of the season are in the air.How to Dress for December Weather and the Holiday Season at Walt Disney World If you are traveling to Walt Disney World in December 2024, here is what you need to know about the weather and other factors that will affect what you should pack and wear for your vacation. December 2024 in Orlando is Shaping Up to Be a Pretty Good Weather Month December at Walt Disney World is a month that can be a little unpredictable from year to year. Last year, for example, a Jollywood Nights party at Hollywood Studios was cancelled due to rain from a tropical storm…in December.  Luckily, if you're traveling to Walt Disney World in December 2024, things are looking pretty good over the long term. This is the continuation of a warm trend that we have seen for several months now.  Special events at Disney World in December will impact your vacation in a most magical manner. From Christmas parties at Disney's Magic Kingdom Park and Hollywood Studios, to festive seasonal activities at EPCOT and lots of sweets, treats and drinks for the season, you can expect holiday crowds to soar towards the end of the month. Still, if you hang on to the holiday spirit during your stay, you will have a fantastic time.Weather Forecast for Walt Disney World in December 2024 The forecast for December 2024 at Walt Disney World sees a month that looks incredibly consistent. This is rare for December in Orlando and if this weather pattern holds, it is shaping up to be one of the best Decembers in many years. For December 2024, Orlando and Walt Disney World daytime highs are forecast to range from 55°F (13°C) to 79°F (26°C), while nighttime lows will hover around 48°F (9°C) to 68°F (20°C). The highs and lows are a bit of a red herring, as each one applies to only one days (and remember, this is a long-term forecast so it can change. But if we throw out those highs and lows, then December at Walt Disney World is looking good with average daily highs in the low 70s°F and average nightly lows in the mid 60s°F.  On an almost shockingly positive note, December at Walt Disney World is showing very little – if any – rain. We'll take this with a grain of salt, but it is a good sign if nothing else. What to Pack for Walt Disney World in December 2024 Packing for Walt Disney World in December 2024 means packing for a nice, sunny weather during the day and moderately cooler weather at night. Shorts and t-shirts (or any of the top five most common outfits for Disney Parks) will be fine for most guests in December during the day. If you plan to spend time outdoors at night (at a holiday party, for example), then a hoodie or light jacket is a good thing to pack. If you love to dress up in Christmas or festive holiday clothes, then this is the month to do it. You can go over the top or just have a little subtle Disney clothing. Either way, you'll fit right in and help to spread the holiday cheer to other guests and cast members. Watch for the biggest crowds of the year during Christmas/New Years week. Be sure to pack your patience if you're visiting at this time because the crowds in parks can be over the top (and Magic Kingdom Park has been known to close due to capacity). And, as always, be sure the check the weather forecast for Orlando on a local Orlando weather media outlet the day before you leave for your vacation. This will give you the most up-to-date and accurate vacation forecast.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. Getting dressed for a day at the parks doesn't have to be a chore. In fact, there are five tried and true outfit styles that can cover just about any Disney Parks occasion.Tried and True Outfits to Enjoy Your Time in the Parks with No Fuss We've analyzed the styles and trends of Disney Parks visitors over the years and compiled this list of the five classic outfits ideal for any park day. Wondering what to pack or wear to Walt Disney World? You can't go wrong with any of these. Top Five Outfits You'll See at Walt Disney World Parks 1. T-Shirt and Shorts, variation Tank Top and Bicycle Shorts This is the classic look for what to wear inside a Disney Park, and for good reason. A comfy t-shirt or tank top paired with casual shorts (loose fitting or bicycle shorts) will keep you comfy and ready to go no matter how long you plan to stay at the park. 2. Collared Shirt (Button-Up Shirt/Golf Shirt) and Cargo ShortsIn the heat of the summer or on any very warm day at Walt Disney World, this variation on the classic original look is a good pick. Substitute the cotton t-shirt with a lightweight button-up shirt or collared golf shirt, for a more breathable and loose-fitting option. Paired with cargo shorts, this is a very stylish and practical option offering lots of extra pockets (which are always welcome on a Disney vacation). 3. Layered Look: Zip-up Hoodie with T-Shirt and JeansIf you're traveling to Walt Disney World in the winter or early spring, the layered outfit is a very good choice. Whether it's cool mornings or cold evenings that you may encounter, layering your Disney Parks outfit is a great idea. With a jacket, hoodie or zip-up hoodie over a t-shirt up top, and jeans, casual pants or leggings on the bottom, you'll be good to go for your entire Disney Parks day. 4. T-Shirt/Tank Top and Leggings/Yoga Pants A very popular look for the parks, leggings paired with a t-shirt or tank top is something you're likely to see on a large number of park visitors any Walt Disney World vacation. This classic combination offers both style and comfort, making it a great choice for all-day park hopping. 5. DressesOn warmer days, dresses of all kinds make for a popular and comfortable theme park outfit. When it's hot out, a loose-fitting dress allows air to circulate, giving the breezy breathability that offers added comfort in the heat. Let's Not Forget Disney Style  For all the above outfits, Disney style is a popular way to incorporate a little magic through graphics tops and bottoms, or outfit accessories. For the kids, Princess Dresses and other character outfits are classic Disney Parks attire as well, but not necessarily built for comfort. These work best for little who may be spending some time in a stroller, or when you're not pushing for a full-day non-stop in the parks.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. The most popular items for your list this year Whether it's Disney official clothing or non-Disney apparel inspired by the magic, Christmas and holiday-themed apparel adds a little extra magic to just about any seasonal festivity. The Most Popular Disney-Inspired Apparel Items for Christmas Christmas and holiday themed apparel falls into three categories: 1. Christmas themed patterns 2. Christmas sweaters3. Christmas graphics Apparel items can be anything from hoodies, t-shirts and sweatshirts, to leggings, dresses and wide-leg pajama pants (which can be worn day or night, inside or outside). Disney Official and Disney-Inspired Holiday Wear If you're looking for Disney character themed holiday apparel, then hitting the shops on your Disney vacation can be a lot of fun. From Disney official to Disney licensed clothing, you can find lots of fun festive cheer that features Disney characters in all sorts of holiday activities. If you're looking for Christmas apparel that doesn't feature Disney characters or intellectual property, but that is inspired by the magical feeling that you get on a Disney vacation, then the Disney inspired apparel items are a good option. Note that when we say Disney inspired, we are not talking about any shop or seller that violates Disney trademarks. If you want Disney characters or intellectual property, then buy from Disney or Disney licensed sellers. When Would You Want Disney-Inspired versus Disney Official? While most Disney fans likely have both style of festive wear in their closet, sometimes you may not want a Disney character on your clothes, but you still want to capture that family vibe and ambiance of a Disney Christmas vacation. In these cases, Disney inspired – or subtle Disney clothes, as we like to say – is a great way to go. It's the perfect complement to your official Disney wardrobe. Here at 1923 Main Street, for example, we design festive holiday wear that draws inspiration from the joy and positive ambiance of the Disney experience. This can be anything from a festive street scene reminiscent of the feeling of Main Street U.S.A. at Christmas, to a graphic design that celebrates hopping between theme parks during the holidays. Chances are, you may want to add a little Disney official and Disney-inspired to your wardrobe to ensure you have something for every occasion and holiday event. What is the Most Popular Single Apparel Item for the Holidays? With so many different Christmas-themed clothes items from which to choose, what is the most popular and versatile piece of clothing, if you only want to buy one? While the popular ugly Christmas sweater can be good choice for some, not everyone likes sweaters. Plus, the Christmas sweater on its own is not as versatile a piece to wear for multiple occasions over the holidays. If you only want to have one Christmas or festive themed item in your wardrobe, Mike recommends a Christmas or holiday themed sweatshirt as your go-to item. Sweatshirts are versatile and can be worn to many occasions. They pair well with jeans, leggings or a skirt and even with pajama bottoms. Plus, their warm and can be layered for times when you need something a little extra cozy. Amelia's top pick, while she agrees with sweatshirt idea, is to consider Christmas or holiday-themed wide-leg pants/pajama pants. These are also quite versatile for curling up next to a fire to watch a movie, or to head out to a cozy Christmas gathering.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. That Dirty Disney Vacation Word You Might Not Want to Hear

A lot of people think that the prospect of doing laundry while on vacation is crazy. But in these days of airline luggage challenges and the desire to put everything into a carry-on bag, doing laundry while on vacation can actually help to free up space in your luggage.Should You Do Laundry on Your Walt Disney World Vacation? But is doing laundry on your vacation really worth the benefits? Is this a convenience you'd enjoy, or an irritation you'd rather leave at home. Laundry at Walt Disney World Hotels Did you know that every Walt Disney World hotel has a laundry room (or rooms) for guests? Hotels in all Walt Disney World categories offer paid self-serve laundry facilities that you are free to use on a first-come first serve basis. For example, Pop Century has three laundry rooms and they're open 24 hours. Why Do Laundry When You're on Vacation? Sure, doing laundry on vacation sounds like a chore that's best left at home, but there are times when having access to a laundry room is a good thing. Even if you don't want to pack less because you can do laundry mid-week and get a fully refreshed travel wardrobe, there are other reasons why you might need the laundry room. Ever spilled something (or had a child who did) on one of your favorite Disney outfits? Dark chocolate on a brand new white t-shirt? This is another scenario when a quick run to the laundry room can save the day. The faster you get that item in the wash, the better the chances that stain will come out. Forget the sink in your hotel bathroom, a washing machine will do a much better job. How Much Does it Cost to Do Laundry at Walt Disney World? While the exact cost can change, a load of laundry in a Disney hotel laundry room is usually around two dollars per load. You can buy soap as well, so it's all provided in one place. When is the Best Time to Do Laundry at a Disney World Hotel? While these things can vary because you can never fully predict the crowd levels in a laundry room, early morning is often best time to do laundry at Walt Disney World. Most guests are off to the parks or off to breakfast, so the laundry rooms can be less busy at this time. Put in a load of laundry and go grab a coffee or quick service breakfast. Afternoon can be good as well, and you go spend a little time by the pool while your laundry is on.  Later in the evening is often the busiest times for the Disney hotel laundry rooms, so bear that in mind. If the laundry room happens to be close to your room, then you can always drop by to see how busy it is. On a similar note, if you plan to do laundry during your Disney vacation, do a little advance scouting when you first get to the hotel to see which times are least busy in the laundry room. That way you will have a better idea of when may be the best time to do your laundry, when the time comes. Disney Deluxe Villas and Laundry One of the benefits of staying in a Disney Deluxe Villa is that the one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom villas all have washer/dryer units right in the room. Not only is this very convenient, but it is also free. Studio Villas do not have in-room laundry, but they are laundry room facilities in the building.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. Top Five Questions About What to Pack for Disney World in Winter

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 22, 2024 14:00

If you're traveling to Walt Disney World during the colder winter months, you may be wondering if there are certain things you need to pack for Florida in the winter. There are a few things about packing for Walt Disney World in winter that you may not have consideredWe answer the top five most common questions that we've been asked over the years from travelers visiting Disney World in the winter for the first time.Five Questions and Answers About Packing for a Winter Walt Disney World VacationThe five most common questions that you're probably asking yourself if you're traveling to Walt Disney World in winter for the very first time. 1. Will I need a heavy coat? You won't usually need a heavy coat for Walt Disney World in the winter. Can it get cold enough for a ski jacket? Sure, it has happened. But generally, you should be fine with a jacket or hoodie, particularly if you plan to visit the parks or go out after dark. The Florida sun brings warmth in the winter, but once the sun sets you feel the cold a lot more.  2. Should I bring a swim suit? It's usually cool during the winter months (December and January for example) and the Disney resort hotel pools are not crowded. Do people swim? Yes, some do. One option is to hop in the hot tub by the pool. That way you can keep warm and still get that outdoor pool feeling. So if you don't mind swimming in cooler temps (or if your kids don't), then packing a swimsuit is not a bad idea. Just remember you may need a warmer cover up when walking to and from the pool as the air will be cooler than summer months. 3. Will I need a poncho or umbrella? This is an interesting question because in the past we would have said no. It didn't used to rain too much in the winter during our Disney World vacations, however, that has changed. We're not fans of ponchos in the hot summer months, but when the air is cooler during the winter, a poncho is not a bad idea. If the weather calls for rain, then a rain jacket (which can double as your cool night jacket), poncho or small travel umbrella are items to consider. 4. Can I still wear shorts? If you are a shorts person and like the freedom and light packing that come with wearing shorts, then by all means you can get away with wearing shorts on a sunny winter day at Walt Disney World. You might need something a little more after the sun goes down, however, which brings us to our next point. 5. Should I pack jeans, long pants or leggings? Even when shorts are a great option in the sunny hours of the day, nighttime at Walt Disney World in the winter can be much cooler. We find that night temperatures can still be comfortable for shorts at times, but at others (when it gets colder), you will likely be far more comfortable with your legs covered (especially if it's windy). So, we recommend that you bring at least one pair of leg coverings of your choice. It could be what you wear on travel day if you're coming from a cooler climate, which will save luggage space (the same goes for your jacket, by the way).Top Tip: Check the Orlando Weather Before Your Leave As always, be sure to check to the weather at Walt Disney World on a local Orlando weather app the day before you leave in order to get the best forecast for your vacation period. That may help to tip the scale one way or another if you're not sure about packing a certain item or two.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. Graphic T-Shirts, Sweatshirts and Hoodies: Does Graphic Placement Matter?

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 15, 2024 14:34

What is the most popular spot for graphics to appear on t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies? And what difference does it make? What is the Best Spot for Graphics on Hoodies, Sweatshirts and T-Shirts? Graphics hoodies, sweatshirts and t-shirts have been popular for decades. Originally, it began with printed graphics or words on the front center of the garment only.  But things have changed a lot over the years. Nowadays you can find graphics printed on the front, back, front and back, left chest, sleeve, upper arm and more. So which style of t-shirt is the most popular and which designs suit buyers the best? Six Common Graphic Placements on T-Shirts, Sweatshirts and Hoodies Center Chest Graphic This is the most common graphic placement, centered in the top half of the t-shirt, sweatshirt or hoodie. The center chest can be smaller in size, especially if its an embroidery. Full Front Graphic The full front design covers the full length of the shirt. It is centered, but stretches from top to bottom. This is often seen for large letter message designs. Left Chest Graphic The left chest design is typically a small logo or iconic. It is sometimes embroidered and popular on golf shirts and polo shirts as well as t-shirts. These are simple, iconic placements avoiding too much detail due to the small size. Sleeve and Arm Graphics On t-shirts, the sleeve design is often a logo or another element that ties into a main graphic on the front or back of the shirt. The same goes for arm printing on hoodies and sweatshirts. Upper Back Graphics The upper back design is popular and often paired with the left chest design on the front. The upper back stretches across the shoulder blade area. Full Back Graphics When you think of full back graphics, concert t-shirts immediately come to mind. The concert t-shirt makes full use of the space on the back of a t-shirt or hoodie, often listing cities from tour dates. Of course, there are full back graphics for all kinds of things. Fun Fact: The first ever concert t-shirt was an Elvis Presley shirt in 1956, while the first ever band tour t-shirt was reportedly created for the Beatles U.S. tour in 1964. Disney Loves Graphics on the Back Have you ever been looking for a garment in a Disney shop, found one you liked the front of…then turned it around and saw a huge graphic on the back that turned you off? If you're not someone who likes the concert style t-shirts and hoodies with full-back placement of graphics, then it can be challenging when it comes to Disney apparel.  Disney absolutely loves the back placement for their graphics. It also matters what that design is composed of: simple graphics can work well, but the overly colorful and bold cartoon-style artwork can be a bit much.  We place a lot of thought into the composition of our designs on t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and more. Just because you can cover every inch of a garment, doesn't always mean that you should.  So, on the rare occasion that we do venture into back graphic placements at 1923 Main Street, we tend to stick to solid design principles, with a focus on elegant and timeless style. For hoodies, the back placement of a graphic offers a lot more real estate than the front, since the kangaroo pocket on the front of hoodies limits how much space a graphic can have.  Similar to graphics on the front of a t-shirt or sweatshirt, back graphics on a hoodie can be located either on the upper back or cover the full back of the garment. The reason that we do not do any back graphic hoodies here at 1923 Main Street is because the hood itself will block a portion of the design when its down. We don't find that to be a good design aesthetic, so we don't produce this type of product (at least we haven't so far). What is the Most Popular Graphic Placement on a T-Shirt, Sweatshirt or Hoodie? The front graphic is the most common placement that we see today.  The front graphic on a t-shirt is how it all began, so it's really no surprise that it remains very popular to this day. However, back graphics, arm graphics and chest graphics are all great enhancements and very common, as they can help to make specific designs even more unique and more stylish. As a leading designer of subtle Disney-inspired graphic shirts, at 1923 Main Street we determine the style and placement of graphics based on several factors, including the graphic itself, the colors, the subject matter and the garment(s) where it will appear. A lot of thought goes into how and where graphics will appear on a particular piece of clothing.  We tend to take a minimalistic approach to design, avoiding “loud” and overly busy graphics that we believe can muddy the message and design itself. At the end of the day, it's all about personal style and finding something that's just right for you.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. The History of the Hoodie, plus Which Hoodie for Walt Disney World?

Hoodies are very popular at Walt Disney World, especially during the evening hours during the colder months. So which hoodie should you wear and where did hoodies come from in the first place? The History of the Hoodie: Who Invented the Hoodie? Which Style of Hoodie is the Best Hoodie for a Disney World Vacation? All Hoodies are Not Created Equal, So How Do You Choose? Who Invented the Hoodie? Today's popular hoodie has a long history that goes all the way back to the 1930s, when the Knickerbocker Knitting Company designed the first hoodie sweatshirt (they basically sewed a hood onto a sweatshirt to add extra warmth). Today, that pioneering hoodie company is known as Champion. After its launch, the hoodie gained popularity with the military, who found the design to be great for training purposes. Colleges and universities gave the hoodie enhanced popularity in the 1950s and 1960s, when the hoodie became synonymous with sportswear and branded logo hoodies emerged. In the 1970s, skaters, surfers and the emerging rap and hip hop scene gave the hoodie a more “cool” and urban street vibe. With the release of the first Rocky film in 1976, the hoodie gained even more exposure as apparel for gritty athletics, as Rocky trained hard in his hoodie.  Nowadays, the hoodie remains very popular with even more variations: from sports, to street style, college athletics and functional casual wear. The hoodie is now firmly cemented as an iconic staple of casual wear apparel.  The Five Types of HoodiesThere are many variations of the classic hoodie, but the five main hoodie styles we tend to see include: Pullover Hoodie with PouchPullover Hoodie, CroppedZip-Up HoodiePullover Hoodie no PouchPullover Hoodie, Short SleevedWithin each of these five hoodie categories there are various types and styles, primarily based on weight and fabric. There are branded and non-branded hoodies and various color options and all-over-prints. Hoodies are both a fashion statement and functional piece of apparel. Unlike the original plain grey hoodie (the kind of hoodie that Rocky wore in the ‘70s), it's rare nowadays that you'll see a plain blank hoodie with no graphic at all. The hoodie has gone fully commercial, a trend that took off in the 1990s. Hoodies at Walt Disney World: Which Should You Wear? At Walt Disney World, hoodies tend to appear in full force when the weather gets a little chilly and Cast Members roll out the hoodie racks for eager buyers. So which hoodie is best? The most common and most popular hoodies are pullovers and zip ups. Pullover hoodies tend to be more popular, but if you prefer the convenience of a front zipper (the hoodie jacket), then the zip up hoodie can add more flexibility. Aesthetically, the pullover hoodie tends to have cleaner lines and a more traditional look – especially if a graphic is featured on the front (where it won't be broken up by a zipper).Ultimately, the choice of which hoodie is best comes down to personal preference: the perfect combination of comfort, fit and style.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. Evenings will be moderately cooler, so a hoodie or light jacket for after the sun goes down is also worth packing.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. Should You Dress Up for the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival?

The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival is a popular annual event at Walt Disney World that is a celebration of everything to do with food and drink. From food sampling stations, to wine tasting, instructional kitchens and more, there is something for everyone who enjoys celebrating food and wine (and other beverages as well). If You're Attending the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, Should You Dress Up?Unlike Disney events such as Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, the EPCOT festivals aren't events that many people consider as dressing-up occasions. But there are many guests who do like to dress for the occasion and if you enjoy styling outfits for events that you attend, then the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival is a perfect place to put a little thought into your outfit. So should you dress up? We say yes, at least in terms of putting a little thought into styling your outfit with a hint of food and wine fest flair. What Should You Wear to the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival? For the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, it's not so much about dressing up as it is picking the perfect outfit. It's styling your outfit versus wearing a costume.Getting into the food and wine vibe is a great place to start. What you wear could be anything from graphic tees or print shirts that have food and wine theming, to something that you might wear to a vineyard for a wine tasting. Most guests do not dress up, so you might not want to go too far with your outfit. After all, you will be walking around a fair bit in Florida heat and humidity, so it's wise to balance style with functionality. Personally, we believe that the Food and Wine Festival would be elevated if more guests did put a little more effort in their personal style when visiting the event. Plus, it makes it more fun and immersive for all attendees when the theming is extended to the attendees. What do you think?Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. Should You Dress Up for Halloween at Walt Disney World and Disneyland?

If you plan to visit Walt Disney World or Disneyland during the Halloween season, should you dress up to join in the festivities? Will you feel out of place if you don't dress up? And if you do dress up, what should you wear? The Spooky Season is Here, Do Disney Guests Really Dress Up for Halloween?Halloween at Disney World and Disneyland is a fun time of year. Disney goes all out with décor, treats, food, shows and even special ride overlays at Disneyland (too bad Disney World doesn't do the same). So it's not surprising that many guests embrace the spirit of Halloween with a little extra magic in their outfits. But should you dress up for Disney Halloween? Are You Going to a Disney Halloween Party? While some Disney Park guests do dress up a little during Halloween, it's really only during the Halloween parties that you'll see a larger number of guests dressing up in their favorite costumes. Many kids dress up for their Disney vacations all year long (princesses, Star Wars characters, Marvel characters etc.), but adults are truly allowed to go full costume only during the Halloween season (yes, there is a dress code specifically for this). Will You Feel Out of Place if You Don't Dress Up for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party or Boo Bash? The answer is no.Many children and teens dress up, as do many adults. But not everyone dresses up for Disney Halloween. Far from it. So you won't feel out of place if you don't dress up.Costume Considerations for Disney Halloween PartiesIf you do want to dress up for a Disney Halloween party, what should you wear? The costume you wear to a Disney Halloween party really comes down to why you want to dress up. If you want to dress up so that you can really get into the spirit and be fully immersive, then by all means you can go all out with your costume (within Disney dress code guidelines).Cast Members will often acknowledge great costumes and you'll certainly be able to get some great photos in the Halloween vibe. But, going all out on a costume can come at the cost of comfort, maneuverability and the ability to easily ride rides (depending on the costume). The next (and probably most common approach) is to strike a balance between dressing up to some degree (you'll see a lot of Disney bounding in this category), while still being uninhibited by your costume. The final approach is to not dress up at all and just go to the party to enjoy the ambiance, sights and sounds. You won't feel out of place if you're not in costume, as you certainly won't be the only one.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. What to Pack and What to Wear to Walt Disney World in September 2024

How to Dress for the Beginning of Fall at Walt Disney World in SeptemberAre you traveling to Walt Disney World in September 2024? September is a unique month in Orlando and at Walt Disney World. There a few things that you really need to know when picking your outfits and packing for September weather in Orlando.September in Orlando is a Shoulder Season, Which Means Be Prepared for AnythingSeptember is a great month to visit Disney World, particularly when it comes to lower crowd levels and fun events. This is the month where you can enjoy the best of Disney Halloween and the food and flavors of the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival all in one trip. However, preparing for potential weather conditions during the month of September at Walt Disney World is a little trickier. As a shoulder month, there can be various weather impacts in the month of September and 2024 looks like it may be a wetter month than recent years. What to Pack for Walt Disney World in September 2024Packing for September 2024 will be different this year, as the weather is looking to be a little hotter than normal and a little wetter as well. Packing like you would for August is probably a safe bet this year, which is not always the case for the first official month of fall at Walt Disney World.Plus, with Halloween in full swing and the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival fully underway, you may want to consider packing a special outfit or two if you plan to take part in the festivities (both of which are highly recommended).Weather Forecast for Walt Disney World in September 2024The forecast for September 2024 at Walt Disney World includes the kind of oppressive heat and humidity that you pretty much expect in Orlando at this time of year. For September 2024, Orlando and Walt Disney World daytime highs should range from 86°F (30°C) to 95°F (35°C), while nighttime lows will hover around 73°F (23°C) to 79°F (26°C). And remember, these temperatures do not include humidity/humidex, so be aware that it can easily feel much hotter than this on most days. Unfortunately, the forecast for September 2024 in Orlando includes rain on 15 of 30 days, with the week of September 15 predicted to be particularly wet. Of course, we all know that weather prediction is hardly a science, but still it is something to consider if you're visiting this month. When you couple the warm temperatures continuing on into September with the forecast rain, you can prepare for humidity that will impact on both your park stamina and the clothes that you wear, so pack with this in mind.Active weather, including tropical storms and hurricanes, is still possible as well in September. You can plan in advance for these by checking the local weather (on a local Orlando weather app) the day before you leave for your vacation. That will give you the most up-to-date outlook for the week of your vacation. What to Wear in Walt Disney World in SeptemberThis year, September weather means you can continue to pack lighter clothing as you would in the summer. Light colors (which are great in the hot sun) are not as critical for the month as the forecast calls for a lot of cloud cover. Given the chance of showers and active weather, quick dry clothing and footwear are good picks to pack for September 2024 at Walt Disney World.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. Disneyland vs Walt Disney World: How Do Guests Dress Differently?

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 27, 2024 12:50

Disney guests at Walt Disney World and Disneyland don't dress the same when it comes to Mickey wear and more. So which resort has visitors who wear more Disney inspired clothing and why do guests dress differently at Disney World and Disneyland?  Walt Disney World and Disneyland Guests Don't Dress the Same, Here's What We Noticed One of the great things about visiting both Walt Disney World and Disneyland is that the resorts and parks are different, so you get a very different experience when visiting one or the other. But the differences aren't only what you can see and do in the parks, the style of the guests who visit each resort is also different.  So what's different about Disneyland and Walt Disney World guest style? California weather has a couple of noticeable differences compared to Orlando: rain and humidity. Where it can rain at Walt Disney World on every day of your summer vacation, you're unlikely to see any rain at all at Disneyland during the same time period. Plus, there is very little humidity at Disneyland Resort, which makes it much more comfortable to walk the parks (even in 90*F+ heat). Weather aside, there are quite a few things that we noticed when comparing the guests in the crowds of Disneyland versus the guests at Walt Disney World.  How Guest Style Differs Between Disneyland and Walt Disney World HeadwearOne of the most noticeable differences that really stands out (possibly because it is at eye level) is that there are far fewer Disney mouse ears and mouse headbands on guests at Disneyland versus Walt Disney World.  Disney-Branded ClothesSimilar to mouse ears and mouse ear headbands, there are also far fewer Disney clothes on guests at Disneyland. Whereas the majority of guests (on an average day) at Walt Disney World have some sort of Mickey wear on, it's quite a different story at Disneyland. Mickey wear and Disney character clothes are in the minority. You do see some, of course, but the difference is noticeable. Along the same lines, there are far fewer couples, families and groups wearing matching Disney shirts as well. In fact, over the course of a week visiting both Disneyland parks daily, I saw two instances of matching Disney shirts.  FootwearWhen it comes to footwear, things are not dramatically different at Disneyland versus Walt Disney World, with one notable differences. We noticed far fewer Crocs on guests at Disneyland compared to what you tend to see at Walt Disney World. What Causes the Guest Style Differences Between Disneyland and Walt Disney World? It's hard to say why Disneyland guests tends to be less decked out in Disney wear than guests at Walt Disney World. It may be that California residents are more fashion and style conscious and so they value personal style over Disney wear for their park visits. The fact that California weather is less humid and less rainy likely does not have an impact on outfit choices. Guests at Disneyland are still wearing the same types of clothes as their counterparts at Walt Disney World in Florida (t-shirts, shorts, dresses etc.), it's just that they are not predominantly Disney branded or Disney related items.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. Top Five Reasons to Do Carry-On Bags Only on Your Disney World Vacation

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 20, 2024 12:15

If you're wondering if it's possible to fly to Walt Disney World with carry-on luggage only, the answer is yes. We share the top five benefits of doing carry-on only and how it's easy to pack for a week's vacation with carry-on only.Ever since Covid hit in 2020 and bag check became a universal nightmare at airports around the globe, we have never checked a bag again. We travel to Walt Disney World and Disneyland at least three times each year, plus we have had European vacations and more during this time and have not checked a single bag.For most airlines, you are allowed one free carry-on bag, plus one additional bag – like a backpack. This is an important part of the carry-on packing strategy, since the backpack can be a fallback for additional items that may not fit neatly into your carry-on.Five Reasons Why Should Only Do Carry-On on Your Disney Vacation1. Saves You MoneyThe first and easiest reason is that it typically saves you money when you go with carry-on bags only. Carry-on is less costly (usually free), so the savings increase with the size of your group. Airlines may soon charge for carry-on baggage, but for the time being, it's usually going to save you money on checked baggage fees if you go with carry-on bags only.2. Forces You to Pack LightOverpacking is one of the worst habits of many travelers, and Disney travelers in particular can ten to overpack on Disney outfits. Remember, five to seven outfits is plenty. Even less if you will typically wear only two pairs of shorts for the week (for men at least). Shoes is also one of the biggest issues travelers have. I pack only one pair (and one pair of flip flops for pool time, but those are flat and don't take up much room). So if you are a shoe person, try to limit yourself to two pairs maximum,3. Faster to Get out of the Airport at Orlando International Airport (MCO)When you land in Orlando, everyone is usually itching to get out of the airport and get to Walt Disney World as quickly as possible. The carry-on strategy is your biggest friend here as you will get to walk right by the crowds hovering around the baggage carousels waiting (im)patiently for their bags to arrive. If you go with carry-on baggage only, you can skip this time sucker altogether and be out of the airport and on your way to WDW an hour faster.4. Easier to Maneuver at the Airport, Hotel and EverywhereCarry-on bags are smaller, lighter and easier to maneuver. So you will really enjoy the convenience at the airport, on your transportation, at the hotel and anywhere you need to lug your bags around. If you are going with a split-stay strategy (two or more hotels on your vacation), then carry-on bags is even better. First, you won't have as much to repack (since you have a smaller bag in the first place) and second, switch hotels is so much easier when you only have small, light luggage to move.5. You'll Have More Room in Your RoomWith carry-on bags, you'll find that you have more room in your hotel room. The small bags can make a huge difference in how much space is tied up by luggage. You'll find you're not tripping over bags or having to give up valuable room space to full size suitcases. Even with only two or three people, having only carry-on suitcases to deal with makes a big difference. So enjoy your extra space!Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. The Five Best Places for Fashion Outfit Photos at Walt Disney World

If you want to take great photos of your Disney outfits at Walt Disney World, there are five great spots that will consistently deliver exceptional photos for your social media feed or personal photo album. Want to be Disney fashion influencer? Here's how to get started with great Disney style photos. The Five Best Photo Spots at Walt Disney World to Show Off an Outfit What to Consider to Get the Best Photos of Your Disney Outfits at Disney WorldThe best time for photos under natural light is first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon (which generally will provide softer golden lighting. Overcast days and shaded areas are also great for providing picture perfect diffused and muted light. So if you are serious about getting a great photo for your social feed or to become a fashion/style influencer, get to your photo spot first thing in the morning. This will provide the best lighting and the lowest crowds. By going early, the lower crowds mean that, at worst, you can use AI great to remove one or two errant people in the photo. But beyond one or two people, it can get trickier. Unless you are going for the blurred crowd effect (which is something to try if you find yourself in that situation). Focal length, aperture and the distance to your subject can all affect how the final photo turns out. Plus, for scenic views you need to consider whether the background will be busy or uniform, and whether it will be blurred or more in focus. All of this makes a difference in your final photo. You can adjust much of this in post production using apps, but the more that you consider up front, the less work you will have to do later. Five of the Best Outdoor Scenic Photo Locations for Disney Style 1. Cinderella Castle As a classic icon, Cinderella Castle has several vantage points that are perfect for unique and stylized fashion shots. This does not include the standard head-on shot from Main Street (where the PhotoPass photographers are positioned). Look for a unique angle on either side of the castle, with some good spots towards the back.  2. Grand Floridian Resort Disney's Grand Floridian Resort offers a ton of first rate outdoor photo spots. From sprawling green lawns, to great florals and tropical gardens, to beach photos and backgrounds of Seven Seas Lagoon, you can always find a great photo spot here. Of course, the white and red color palette of the majestic buildings are also picture perfect. 3. Disney Boardwalk The Walt Disney World Boardwalk has a number of options for unique and interesting fashion and style photos. From benches on the wooden boardwalk, to vistas of the Crescent Lake and the Yacht and Beach Club hotels in the distance, you will have the potential to get a ton of great shots here. If you are looking for that magical late afternoon golden hour sunlight, the Boardwalk area is perfect for that photo-friendly natural lighting. 4. EPCOT: Morocco Pavilion, France Pavilion, By the fence around to World Showcase LagoonWhile EPCOT has no shortage of first-rate photo opp locations for fashion and style photos, there are two or three that stand out as top picks to explore. At the very back of the Morocco Pavilion, you will find a wonderful location with great lighting, interesting backdrops and few crowds. Nearby in the France Pavilion is another great area where you can capture some fashion and style photos featuring the charm of old Europe. For the France area, you will need to go early in the day for the optimal nature light and the lowest crowds. Also in EPCOT, the blue water of World Showcase Lagoon can make a nice blurred background. Finding a location along the black iron rails next to the water can make for some excellent photos, assuming you time it right with the sun low in the sky or on an overcast day.  5. Animal Kingdom: Harambe Marketplace area, Animal Kingdom (Fichwa Fellow Wall, with Mickey Mouse, You are Most Beautiful wall) Over at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park, the Harambe Marketplace are is filled with colorful backdrops and unique textures that can make for some excellent photo opps. The great thing about this area is that unlike some of the other popular Disney photo wall locations (which don't have enough room to create distance between the camera, subject and backdrop), the Harambe area provides the perfect opportunity to set up for some great fashion photos. Planning Your Disney Fashion Photos in Advance is Worth the Effort Putting some thought into the photos before you take them will make a difference in the end result. If you are aiming to get some like-worthy fashion photos for your Instagram or social feed, then the extra effort and thought will pay off.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. Ever wonder how to choose between two things when planning your Disney travel outfits? We answer 10 top questions putting two Disney what-to-wear in 10 rounds of This or That: Disney Travel Fashion and Style Edition.10 This or That Questions that Answer What's Best to Wear in Disney ParksEver wonder how to choose between two things when planning your Disney travel outfits?Mike and Amelia discuss, debate and pick the winners in 10 categories of Disney travel This or That? Get the answers to 10 top questions about this or that Disney travel fashion and style.Disney Travel Style: This or That1. In the Disney Parks: Subtle Disney Shirt or Obvious Disney Shirt. This or That?Subtle Disney shirt is our top pick in this category. Keep your obvious Disney shirts for back home when you're not on vacation. Plus, Disney Cast Members often comment on the subtle Disney shirts that they don't see every day. What about outside the Parks?Outside the parks on a Disney vacation, subtle Disney shirts are still a top pick.2. For a casual dinner (such as the Grand Floridian Café): casual shorts/leggings or a dress? This or That?A dress is a great option for women, as it's a little more, well, dressy. For men: nice casual shorts and a short sleeve button up shirt or pants and casual dress shirt? For men, casual shorts with a short sleeve button shirt is a great choice and can be worn on many other occasions on your vacation.3. For visiting the Disney Parks: a hat or Disney ears? This or That?Disney ears are the winner here, because there aren't many other places you can really wear Disney ears and feel confident. But this doesn't include if you need a hat for utility purposes.4. Wearing a hat in Disney Parks: a ball cap or wide brim hat? This or That?A ball cap is more functional if you go on a lot of rides. They can be stowed and stored more easily. But, you will get a ball-cap tanline (if you're concerned about that). A wide brim hat offers more protection and is a good choice if you don't go on fast rides.5. For Disney World in cooler weather: jeans or leggings? This or That? While there is a bit of an anti-jeans feeling among many Disney travelers, Amelia still feels that leggings or loose pants are a better pick (also considering that jeans are less forgiving around the waistline). Mike is a little more on the anti-jeans side of the fence.6. For Disney Parks in cooler weather: a hoodie or sweatshirt? This or That? This one's close and can depend on whether or not the hoodie is zip up or pullover (zip up offers more flexibility). The crew neck sweatshirt gets a slight edge here.7. Walking the Disney Parks: Converse Chuck Taylor's or Running Shoes/sneakers? This or That? The response is split on this one. Amelia recommends sneakers or tennis shoes, while Mike prefers his Converse All-Stars. Your best bet here is to get with what is most comfortable for you in other long-walk situations.8. A cotton t-shirt or a button-up short-sleeve shirt? This or That?Mike recommends a short-sleeve button-up shirt over the t-shirt here. Mainly because button-up shirts are less hot and more flexible for both parks and dining.9. Which top is best: cotton or linen? This or That?Assuming the best quality of both items, linen is the pick for both Mike and Amelia.10. If you need to carry a bag in a Disney Park: a backpack or sling bag/crossbody? This or That? For easy access and less bulk, the crossbody or sling bag is the winner here. Small backpacks were trendy 10 years ago and are not as accessible. So unless you need a large backpack for utility reasons, go with the more flexible crossbody type of bag.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. What to Pack and What to Wear to Walt Disney World in August 2024

Are you traveling to Walt Disney World in August? Here is what you need to know to pack for August weather in Orlando. The Hottest and Steamiest Month of the Year is Still a Great Time to Go, If You Go PreparedAugust at Walt Disney World is the hottest, stickiest and wettest month of the year for a Disney vacation. The key to a great time is knowing what to pack and how to plan your days for the dog days of summer at Disney World. What to Pack for Walt Disney World in August 2024We spend a week at Walt Disney World every August and the lazy, hazy days of August require that you pack appropriately for the weather you'll likely encounter. This means packing for heat, humidity and being prepared for lots of pop-up wet weather.Weather Forecast for Walt Disney World in August 2024The forecast for August 2024 at Walt Disney World includes the kind of oppressive heat and humidity that you pretty much expect in Orlando at this time of year. For August 2024, Orlando and Walt Disney World daytime highs should range from 90°F (32°C) to 93°F (34°C), while nighttime lows will hover around 79°F (26°C)  to 81°F (27°C). These temperatures do not include humidity/humidex, so be aware that it will feel much hotter than this on most days, likely into the 100°F+ range. During August at Walt Disney World, you don't get much relief from the heat and humidity after dark. The humidity has a huge impact on both your overall stamina and the clothes that you wear, so pack wisely and accordingly.Another consideration to bear in mind always when visiting Walt Disney World in August is the potential for very active weather, including tropical storms and hurricanes. You can usually plan for these in advance, so be sure to check the local weather (on a local Orlando weather app) the day before you leave for your vacation. That will give you the most up-to-date outlook for the week (even then, weather can change quickly in Florida in the summer). What to Wear in Walt Disney World in AugustThis is the time of year when you want to pack light. Light colors, lightweight clothing and quick dry clothing and footwear are what you should aim to pack. At Walt Disney World in August, pop-up afternoon thunderstorms (including very heavy rain) are a normal occurrence. Try to avoid planning any important outdoor activities between approximately 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. If you do, be aware that weather could impact your plans.Pack light color and lightweight t-shirts and tops. Quick dry shorts and bottoms are also a great choice (they tend to be lightweight) along with footwear that can dry quickly or at least not hold moisture for too long if you get caught in a deluge of rain.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. Should You Pack Nice Clothes for Dressing Up at Walt Disney World?

Should you dress up in fancy clothes or a semi formal outfit at Walt Disney World? What should you wear to a Signature Dining restaurant at Disney World? Dressing up in upscale resort wear is definitely doable at Walt Disney World. Here's what you need to know. What does Fancy Style Look Like on a Disney vacation? While a Walt Disney World vacation is most often comprised of hot sunny weather and theme park days, there are occasions where you may want to dress up just a little bit for a night out, or dinner and drinks at a Signature Disney restaurant. In most cases, you don't need to bring formal wear or even a jacket and tie, unless you really want to. It is rare to see guests dressed up to that degree, unless they are part of a wedding party or heading to Victoria & Albert's for dinner.Still, it is nice to get a little more dressed up in the evenings, especially if you are heading out for dinner, drinks or to stroll through Disney Springs or see a show. For women, dressing up at Disney World could include a nice breezy dress, or skirt and blouse combination is a great way to get upscale style while still staying in the spirit of your Disney vacation. For men, casual pants or casual shorts (think business casual at work), along with a button-up shirt and casual shoes is the perfect way to go.Dressing up for Dinner at Walt Disney WorldFor Disney Signature Restaurants, there is no singular dress code that applies to all. Victoria & Albert's has the most stringent dress codes, while for the other Signature Dining Restaurants it really depends on the location.Disney World Signature Dining restaurants located inside Disney Parks (such as Le Cellier, Tiffins, Takumi-Tei and the Hollywood Brown Derby) tend to be a little more casual and less formal, since most guests are having a theme park day.For Disney World Signature Dining restaurants located inside Disney Resort Hotels or in Disney Springs the expectation is that guests will respect the restaurant's ambiance and aesthetic with a little bit more attention. No swimwear or ratty torn clothing, but rather neat and tidy resort wear at the very least. You will find the specific dress code for each Disney Signature Dining Restaurant on the restaurant's page at DisneyWorld.com. Disney Signature Dining Dress CodeThe Dress Code on the restaurant page is the same for virtually all Disney Signature Restaurants. It states:This restaurant is a Disney Signature Dining experience offering fine dining with a distinctly magical flair. Guests are expected to dress accordingly in attire that respects the restaurant's sophisticated and upscale aesthetic. Clothing should be clean, neat and in good condition. Please no swimwear.Victoria & Albert's Dress CodeThe Dress Code for Victoria & Albert's is unique as Walt Disney World. It states:Victoria & Albert's is an exquisite and intimate upscale dining experience and the culinary crown jewel of Walt Disney World Resort. Guests are expected to dress accordingly in semi-formal/formal attire that respects the restaurant's elegant and opulent aesthetic.Disney Bounding and Dapper DaysBeyond bringing nicer clothes to dress up at Walt Disney World, guests may also take part in Disney Bounding and the occasional Dapper Days.Disney Bounding is where you create an outfit that is inspired by a Disney character. It's not a character costume, but rather an outfit that takes elements of a character's style that you craft with your own clothes.Dapper Days are specific days (not Disney official) where guests dress to the nines in vintage style clothing and outfits. You'll definitely notice guests dressed up on Dapper Days at Disney, a true celebration of style.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. Does Disney World Have a Dress Code? Yes. Here's What You Can't Wear.

Packing for a Disney vacation isn't just about what to wear for the weather or fashion, there's also a fairly detailed Disney dress code that you need to know about.“Can I wear this outfit to Walt Disney World?”What You Can and Can't Wear on Your Walt Disney World VacationChoosing your wardrobe for a Walt Disney World vacation is part of the anticipatory build-up to your departure day. But did you know that Disney World has a set of guidelines for what you cannot wear in Disney Parks and Resort properties?Part 1: This is a Family Park, So Dress AccordinglyDisney's dress code for Walt Disney World begins with a general statement:Proper attire, including shoes and shirts, must be worn at all times. The parks are a casual, family-oriented environment. Ensuring that the parks are family-friendly is an important part of the Disney experience. In that spirit, we ask you to use your discretion and common sense. This is a reminder that Disney takes seriously its reputation as a wholesome family destination. If you have a local non-Disney theme park, then you might know what it's like to see certain attire that would never make it past the front entrance of a Disney Park.So if you're wondering if a certain top or shorts will be allowed into a Disney Park, ask yourself if you'd consider it to be family friendly. That is the lens through which it will be viewed at the front gate.A Look at the Disney World Dress Code and GuidelinesThe next part of the Walt Disney World dress code gets a little more specific.Part 2: Inappropriate Attire for Walt Disney WorldIt's not all left up to the discretion of Cast Members, as there are some specific guidelines. The Walt Disney World Dress Code clearly and plainly states that Cast Members can refuse entry, or kick you out of the park, if you are wearing anything that is inappropriate or that could detract from the experience of other guests.Specifically, the Disney dress code states:Attire that is not appropriate for the parks—and which may result in refusal of admittance—includes, but is not limited to:Costumes and costume masks, which may not be worn by Guests 14 years of age or older.Clothing with objectionable material, including obscene language or graphicsExcessively torn clothingClothing which, by nature, exposes excessive portions of the skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environmentClothing that touches or drags on the groundClothing with multiple layers is subject to search upon entryObjectionable tattoosCostume Exceptions Include:Specific Halloween and Christmas events*Some outfits inspired by Star Wars.* Note that Disney ticketed parties and events have their own specific dress codes, as does Galaxy's Edge. So be sure to check those as well. There are also general rules that apply to the entire Walt Disney World property. They include clothing, but go far beyond just clothing.  You can find the Walt Disney World Property Rules here. For the most part, Disneyland Resort in California has the exact same set of rules and regulations posted on its website.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. The Five Best Fabrics to Wear at Walt Disney World in Summer

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 9, 2024 16:29

Summer at Walt Disney World is a fun time to visit. But summer in Florida also means you'll have to deal with rain, humidity and hot steamy weather. So what are the best clothing fabrics to wear in hot, humid weather? We share the top five fabrics for summer. The Best Clothing Fabrics to Wear in a Hot, Sweaty and Steamy Orlando SummerAside from the usual tips about sunscreen, keeping hydrated and cooling off in the AC, what you wear can also be a make-or-break decision for your comfort in the parks and beyond. Here is our guide to the best fabrics to wear in the summer at Walt Disney World, and also the ones you should avoid to stay cool and fresh in Florida's steamy summer. The Five Best Fabrics to Wear in a Hot Humid WeatherWhen packing for your summer vacation to Walt Disney World, consider packing clothing made from the following materials to ensure your best possible comfort against the sometimes oppressive Florida summer heat.Top Five Fabrics for Hot, Humid Weather(in no particular order)1. CottonCotton is always mentioned as a summer fabric for good reason. Cotton is a natural fabric that's breathable and lightweight, which allows air to circulate freely around the body. Cotton also does a good job of absorbing moisture, which helps to keep sweat off your skin and prevent irritation. Remember, as we have discussed in past posts, there are different weights of cotton, so consider lightweights cotton t-shirts for optimal comfort. Why Cotton is Great for Heat and Humidity: - Breathable and promotes air circulation- Soft and comfortable against the skin- Absorbs moisture, reducing sweat buildup2. LinenLinen is another excellent choice for keeping cool in hot and humid climates. Made from flax fibers, linen is highly breathable and has natural moisture-wicking properties. Linen is also notable for its loose weave, which allows for better air flow that can help you stay cool. Why Linen is Great for Heat and Humidity:- Extremely breathable and lightweight- Excellent moisture-wicking capabilities- Dries quickly, preventing sweat from sticking around3. BambooWhile relatively new and not yet widely available as a clothing fabric, bamboo fabric is rapidly gaining popularity. If you find a bamboo clothing item that you like, it's worth a try for Florida's steamy summer weather. Bamboo is incredibly soft, breathable and has natural moisture-wicking and antibacterial properties, all of which combine to make bamboo fabric an ideal choice for humid conditions. Why Bamboo Fabric is Great for Heat and Humidity:- Breathable and moisture-wicking- Naturally antibacterial, reducing odor- Soft and comfortable4. RayonRayon is a semi-synthetic fabric made from natural fibers. It's known for being lightweight and breathable, which makes it a good option for hot weather. It drapes well and can be found in many summer clothing items. However, rayon is as absorbent or moisture wicking as other options on the list, so rayon clothing would be a good pick if you want to bring a dress or nice outfit for an evening dinner or event. Why Rayon is Good for Heat:- Lightweight and breathable- Soft and smooth texture- Good moisture absorption5. ChambrayChambray is often mistaken for denim, but it's much lighter and more breathable, making it a great choice for that denim look in the heat of summer. As a cotton-based fabric, chambray is perfect for summer because it combines the sturdiness of denim with the lightness of cotton, so you get the best of both worlds with comfort and style. Why Chambray is Great for Summer:- Lightweight compared to denim- Breathable and comfortable- Stylish yet practical for hot weatherFour Fabrics to Avoid Wearing to Walt Disney World in the Summer HeatIt's not just about which fabrics are the best to wear in a hot and steamy Florida summer, it also helps to know which clothing fabrics you should avoid packing for your Disney vacation. During the fall, winter and early spring, these four fabrics will do just fine. But in the sweatiest stickiest heat of a Florida summer, you may want to leave these items at home (unless you plan to wear them indoors in the air conditioning).1. PolyesterPolyester has a well-earned notorious reputation for being non-breathable. Polyester clothing traps heat and moisture, making it a bad choice for hot, humid weather. It is durable fabric that's often used in activewear, but don't let that fool you. Polyester is one clothing fabric that is best avoided during steamy Florida summers. Pay special attention to this with your kids' clothes as well. Why to Avoid Wearing Polyester in the Florida Summer:- Non-breathable, traps heat- Can cause excessive sweating- Can get very uncomfortable in humid conditions2. NylonSimilar to polyester, nylon is not a very breathable fabric. Nylon clothing can trap moisture and heat against your skin, leading to discomfort and even the potential for skin irritation and rashes (which you definitely want to avoid at Disney World). While nylon is often used in activewear, it is not suited to humid climates—unless it is blended with breathable fabrics. Even then, if you see nylon on the label, we recommend avoiding this for a summer vacation in Orlando. Why to Avoid Nylon Clothing in Humid Weather:- Traps heat and moisture- Not breathable- Can cause discomfort and irritation3. AcrylicAcrylic is another synthetic fabric that is typically used in cooler weather due to its insulating properties. Wearing acrylic in hot, humid weather can lead to overheating, excessive sweating and even making you a little more odorous along the way. So skip acrylic clothing when packing for a Disney summer vacation. Why to Avoid Acrylic Clothing in an Orlando Summer:- Insulates heat, not breathable- Can cause excessive sweating- Uncomfortable in hot conditions4. SilkSilk is a tricky one that some people believe is good for hot humid weather. It's not. While silk is lightweight and does feel luxuriously light, once the humidity kicks in, it's not going to be a pleasant fabric to wear. Yes, silk can absorb moisture, but it doesn't dry quickly. This means you'll be left feeling sticky, uncomfortable and generally irritated in the high heat and humidity of summer at Walt Disney World. Why to Avoid Wearing Silk in Heat and Humidity:- Absorbs moisture but dries slowly- Can feel sticky and uncomfortable- Delicate and requires special care General Clothing Tips for Staying Cool at Walt Disney WorldIn addition to choosing the best clothing fabrics for hot, humid Florida weather, be sure to remember these general clothing tips for staying cool during a Disney World summer vacation.Choose Light Colors: Dark colors attract and absorb more heat from the sun, while light colors reflect it. So skip the black and navy blue tops and go with whites, yellows or similar.Wear Loose-fitting Clothes:Tight clothes tend to trap heat and restrict airflow. That's not what you want on a hot, humid sticky day. Go for looser fitting shirts to promote better air circulation.Layer wisely: Whether to layer at all is the first ...

Forget matching Disney shirts. Matching shirts for a Disney vacation may be a common way to theme your Disney travel outfits, but there's a much better (and more fun way) to get into the Disney spirit by theming your family wardrobe more creatively.Choosing a theme can help to elevate and add some fun to your next Disney vacation Packing outfits for a Walt Disney World or Disneyland vacation can be a lot of fun. Beyond the basics of packing for the season or the weather – or packing matching shirts for your family or group – there's another way to really elevate your Disney vacation style.  If you're like me and you're not a big fan of matching Disney shirts, then this Disney fashion style is a great way to go. Theming your wardrobe to your upcoming vacation (or at least part of it), can make it fun to pack and even more fun to co-ordinate with what you plan to do onsite. Ideas for How to Theme Your Disney World Wardrobe Princess Theme A Cinderella-inspired theme for your outfits, along with a visit to Cinderella's Royal Table, a Cinderella Meet and greet and more. Or, do the same with Princess Ariel, Princess Belle, or your favorite Disney princess. 1920s New Orleans Don't just do a Tiana wardrobe theme, expand it into 1920s New Orleans inspired outfits for the family. You can do everything from a Princess Tiana dress for your little ones, to more clever apparel for the adults and teens. Couple this with a Tiana Meet and Greet (she will love it), a ride on Tiana's Bayou Adventure, and if you're at Disneyland, a visit to Tiana's Palace and a stroll around New Orleans Square for photos. Toy Story Theme Toy Story offers so many opportunities to have fun theming your family/group's apparel. Everything from your favorites from the movie, to your favorite toys as a kid...they're all fair game to inspire your outfits. Then, it's off to Toy Story Land for a few rides, dining at Round-Up Rodeo BBQ and Toy Story character meetings. Star Wars Theme Star Wars also offers many opportunities to theme your family Disney outfits. Then, wander Galaxy's Edge, visit Oga's Cantina and pilot the Millennium Falcon. Animal Print Theme Visiting Animal Kingdom Park is much more fun when you have your animal inspired family outfits. Take pictures in the park, meet characters, dine at Tusker House, ride Kilimanjaro Safaris and have a little fun with Wilderness Explorers.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. What to Pack and What to Wear to Walt Disney World in July 2024

It's officially summertime at Walt Disney World and that means you'll want to pay special attention to what you pack for a July Disney World vacation. What you need to know to be sure you cover all the bases. What to Pack and What to Wear to Walt Disney World in July July in Orlando and Walt Disney World is hot. It's the first of the two hottest months of the year for a Walt Disney World vacation. However, we vacation at Walt Disney World every year at this time and while it's hot, it's still a good time to visit. July Weather Forecast for Walt Disney World The weather in July at Walt Disney World is usually hot, but not necessarily overly humid. For 2024, the forecast for July is looking fairly consistent over the course of the month. You can expect daytime highs in the range of 87˚F to 95˚F (30˚C to 35˚C), with nighttime lows in the range of 65˚F to 77˚F (18˚C to 25˚C). These temperatures do not include the humidity, which can make it feel hotter. Heat, Rain and More to Consider When Packing for Walt Disney World While the second half of the month may be slightly wetter, it's very hard to accurately predict rain at Walt Disney World in the summer…other than to say the best defence is a good offence. This means that you should always consider that it will probably rain at some point in your trip, when you're packing for a July Walt Disney World vacation. On top of the summer afternoon and early evening showers that can build due to the heat, there is also the potential for tropical storms and active weather to become part of the mix.  As always, we recommend that you check the weather with a local weather station in Orlando the day before you arrive at Walt Disney World. This will give you the best idea of the type of weather you may get during your stay and can help with any last-minute packing decisions. In addition to the rain, heat can also be a factor for many Walt Disney World travelers in July. While much of North America has been sweltering under a heat dome already in 2024, Disney World in July is hot. However, this is often overblown by sensationalist articles and there are plenty of ways to keep your cool and find air conditioning. So be sure to give yourself and your family a break and take the time to cool off when the heat builds (including resort hotel pool time). It's Florida. It's July. It's going to be hot. No need to overthink it or dramatize it. Just plan for it. What to Pack for Walt Disney World in July July at Walt Disney World means you should pack your coolest, lightest and most quick-dry clothing for everyone in your group. Avoid black or dark colored t-shirts as they attract the heat of the sun. You should pack white and lighter weight clothing for sure along, with a good supply of sunscreen (and Gold Bond powder if you think you may need it). T-Shirts, tank tops and loose-fitting button-up shirts are all good items for tops. Shorts (lightweight and quick dry) are a top pick as well. Skirts, sundresses and bicycle shorts are also good items to pack. For the record, don't forget to pack the swimwear (not that you likely would).Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. A Buying Guide for All-Over-Print Clothing: What You Need to Know

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 18, 2024 14:48

All-over-print (AOP) apparel isn't new, but the AOP design style has seen a resurgence in popularity in recent years. So, what makes a good all-over-print design and what are the best clothing items for all-over-print patterns? All items are not created equal, so here's what to watch for before you buy. Why are All-Over-Print Clothes Popular? All-over-print shirts give you the ability to really stand out and to make a subtle (or not so subtle) fashion statement. When it comes to subtle Disney clothing in particular, all-over-print designs are a really fun design process to explore.  AOP designs always have a big impact -- whether it's bold or subtle -- because the design covers every inch of the fabric. We create all-over-print designs on everything from t-shirts and rash guards, to swimwear, skirts and dresses. You don't often see AOP sweatshirts and hoodies, although it is possible to make them.  No matter the garment, all-over-print clothing can add flair to an overall look. One benefit that many people like is that AOP garments don't draw the eye to any one specific spot. Since the print pattern is everywhere, there is no focus on a specific graphic or area of the shirt.  Still, all AOP patterns are not created equal and there is an elegance to creating a good AOP design pattern. It takes a savvy design eye and a lot of thought to create a great looking item. The Technical Aspects of a Good All-Over-Print Pattern The first thing to watch for is that the designer or manufacturer has taken the appropriate care in putting together a quality all-over-print design.  AI pattern makers have taken the industry by storm, but the majority of these platforms still do not excel at creating truly seamless tiles. This is critical if you care about the details (we care and you should too).  AOP patterns are usually made by repeating a single tile of the design so that when they are placed together like tiles on a wall, they will align seamlessly on all sides and the pattern will continue endlessly, with no visible seams or glitches. (Note: seamlessly refers to the design pattern and not the clothing…all clothing will have seams of kind.) So, pay close attention to this when buying an all-over-print garment. Did the designer or company pay close attention to these details? It's something we are meticulous about here at 1923 Main Street. In addition to the technical aspects of seamless tiles, the pattern itself should also be attractive to the eye. Regardless of whether the design aims for symmetry or asymmetry, a pattern shouldn't be jarring. There should be a natural pleasing flow to the design. Usually, it's obvious to the eye when you look at something whether or not the seller has taken care in thinking through the desired look. If your initial reaction is jarring, that says it all. The Best Design Style for All-Over-Prints All-over-print patterns can be bold with large pattern elements, or subtle with smaller pattern elements. They can be bright and colorful, or duotone/monotone and far more subtle. Each of these styles serves a purpose and depending on what you're looking for, they can all be appropriate choices.  Big Prints, Small Prints, Light Prints, Dark Prints… A Hawaiian shirt with big bright florals works well for the big and bold style, whereas a subtle and pale toile style (often monotone) pattern can work well for something like a skater dress or skirt.  The Best Clothing for All-Over-Print Patterns All-over-prints works very well on button-up shirts, dresses, skirts, swimsuits and occasionally t-shirts. You want to consider the pattern itself in all cases, as all-over-prints can become dated very quickly if they are not created with a more timeless design perspective in mind. All in all, all-over-print clothing can add a splash of style to your wardrobe and offer a different look than solid colors or geometrics and the classic graphic t-shirt or sweatshirt. If you pay attention to the technical and design considerations noted above, you'll become a more savvy and informed all-over-print shopper.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it.
