Shalonda Williams joins us to discuss her book, Nawww... I'm Not Ok!  Excuse Me While I Unmask. This book is an essential tool for anyone needing to understand the importance of protecting your purpose by changing how you manage the relationships in your life.  To unmask means there must be something that is obstructing the view of a person's face. Once the mask is removed then others will be able to see what was there all along. When it comes to us as individuals we tend to wear all types of masks but, yet we also want genuine relationships that are honest and bare all. There has to come a day that we can be saved, love the LORD our God with all of our heart, and yet find the voice to be honest. Truthfully, it's not as if we can hide from Him behind a mask anyway! So, what if today was the day that we chose to be open and bare it all before Him in order to be free and happy once and for all?  If you are ready to be liberated, healed, and delivered from the various places in your life that have brought you pain then you definitely want to join us!  Listeners are welcome to dial in on 657-383-0898 to join in the conversation! Dominique Huff is a professional business builder and journalist who speaks and writes critically on various affairs through Dominique Huff Enterprises. As a business builder, he demonstrates the value of having a robust infrastructure and sustainability. He has taken several clients from being scatterbrained to investor ready. Within the realm of journalism, his bylines are on pieces for niche markets such as Greater West Atlanta, small businesses, and men’s issues.  As a media pioneer, he is the brains behind concepts such as Home Rule News (Greater West Atlanta), Dominique Magazine (Men’s News and Issues), Businessnomics (Small Business News), and if that’s not enough, the Metro Student Center (National Student Newspaper). Huff recognizes that the media landscape is evolving into niche focused publications and the readers appreciate the coverage of topics that matter to them. The outlets pride themselves in being the first and often, the only to report on the matters.  Having studied, Planning and Economic Development at Georgia State University, he is able to put his studies to work through his founding of the Intown Business Coalition and Atlanta Southwest. Through hosting and coordinating various events, entrepreneurs are able to glean essential skills, build their network and grow their business within the Greater Southwest Atlanta region. Atlanta Southwest is the steering organization for the proposed improvement district for Greenbriar Mall. At an early age, Dominique knew he wanted to create a legacy and leave an impact on whatever he did. He doesn’t believe in sitting around complaining, he takes action as he’s not going to wait on government nor ask permission from elected officials to fix neighborhood matters

The ‘strong black woman’ stereotype is harming our mental health. We live in a world of stereotypes.  Here’s one of them: Black women have attitude, take any guff from anyone and are always strong. No one is always strong. People have weak moments. Bad things happen in life, and we all experience tragedies.  So when an African-American woman is struggling grief and loss - how is her healing journey different, than that, of her Caucasian counterpart. My guest Rev. Dr. Brooke Brimm will discuss the cultural grief of Black Women.

It’s OK, that you are not OK.  In a culture where people want you to “get over it” – you may feel that there is something wrong with you “when you can’t get over it”. You may feel rushed. You may feel anger. There is no right way to grieve. You just grieve. Join Ophelia, on Friday at 11:30 PM EST as she has an honest and brave conversation about the tough and harsh feelings of grieve and the importance of recognizing them, and allowing people to grieve, without judgement.  Remember, It’s OK, THAT YOU ARE NOT OK. Feel free to call in at (347) 989-8385.
