On this episode of our sports podcast, we break down the controversial viral video from the US Track and Field Championships involving long jumper Tara Davis-Woodall and social media personality Coach T. We provide the full context behind their confrontation, including Coach T's history with Tara and her husband, Paralympian Hunter Woodall, and explain why she was right to defend her space. We also discuss the post race drama between sprinters Noah Lyles and Kenny Bednarek, (Kung Fu Kenny) analyzing "the look" and the shove that has the track and field world talking ahead of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. In the world of team sports, we get excited for the NFL preseason as fans of the Philadelphia Eagles and share why football is the perfect sport to follow. Plus, find out why the Philadelphia Flyers NHL team is training with UFC fighters to improve their on ice fighting skills. We also cover the wild story of a fan getting tackled while trying to crash the Tour de France finish line and chat about the new Travis Barker 5k race series. We have a hot take on fajitas and the scam of pick-your-own fruit, then dive into a chaotic parenting story about a missing Croc that required a full photo investigation to solve. We also share an anecdote about meeting new neighbors, the pressure of adopting a dog, and Bucky's interesting bathroom habits. We wrap up by discussing ESPN's new "ESPN8: The Ocho" lineup (did they steal our idea?) and share a heartwarming story from Holiday Inn about how they create adventures for lost stuffed animals.

"For a layman, running a 100 metres is as simple as running from point A to point B. For us, it's a lot more than that. It's about a million things done in moderation between those two points...even cutting microseconds becomes such a challenging part, it takes years to master that," shares Siya Sawant, an award-winning National level track & field athlete who konnects with me on this episode of #KarishmaKonnect. A 19 year old hailing from Mumbai, Siya ranks among the most promising Track & Field athletes in the country, currently at No.1 position for 100 mts and No. 2 for 200 mts as per the Khelo India rankings. She holds three national records to her name and has been the Junior National Champion for five years in a row. Siya's conversation told me exactly how the sky is no limit and age is definitely no bar when you've got commitment to your merit and clarity in your vision. This one's an audio only podcast but if you're someone who loves podcasts, you'll notice her passion every time she runs into the wonders of her sport. That is inspiring. Go watch now. Today on the show is Aydon Stefanopoulos!Aydon is a graduated senior out of Los Gatos High School in California. He will be a rising freshman in the fall at UCLA. Aydon holds PRs of 1:51 for 800m, 4:06 for 1600m, 8:57 for 3200m, and 14:52 for 5K XC. He is the 2023 CIF D2 XC State Champion and a 2023 NXN Qualifier. Aydon and I had one of the most unpolished, raw, candid conversations I have ever had on The Sunday Shakeout. This was not an episode filled with positivity and glorified realities of the mental and physical side of our sport. We dive into the nitty gritty side of the sport of distance-running. As a junior, Aydon became a state champion and ran at Nike Cross Nationals (NXN). This set a high bar to live up to in his senior year. Unfortunately, however, Aydon has struggled with injuries and underperforming this past year. Not only did he fail to win state XC and qualify for NXN, he did not have the redemption that he wanted this track season, despite setting PRs in multiple distances.Aydon, in this episode, openly admits his struggles with confidence, self-doubt, and the mental toll of injuries and underperformance. Rather than focusing on just accomplishments, he highlights his mistakes, regrets, and the emotional fallout of underachieving. He talks about being "not proud" of parts of his senior year, showing maturity and humility. Now you might be asking: "Why would I listen to such a melancholy podcast episode?"Because despite the setbacks, disappointment, and raw realities presented in my conversation with Aydon, he has had a few mindset shifts:Aydon has moved from chasing perfection to valuing long-term health and enjoyment of the sport. Through injuries and setbacks, Aydon shares interesting insights on the importance of under-training. Sounds crazy. But worth a listen. Aydon's excitement about the next chapter at UCLA stems from a desire to learn, adapt, and improve, rather than prove anything. His ability to embrace uncertainty is instructive for all of us in the pursuit of excellence in our careers. Hopefully this episode is a refreshing change, one that opens eyes and serves as an inspirational reminder of the raw realities of the sport, perhaps an opportunity for redirection for you in your life. I hope you enjoy this episode of The Sunday Shakeout! Please consider leaving a follow and a five-star review on Apple Podcasts and Spotify!

He's back. Not just on this show — but back in the sport, back on the world stage, and back to blow your mind with what's possible when talent meets resilience.Returning to the show is none other than Cordell Tinch — the hurdler whose journey reads like a Hollywood script. A former cell phone salesman turned world-class athlete. The guy who stepped away from the sport, then came back to dominate Division II track with three national titles in one weekend — and now he's out here running 12.87 in the 110 hurdles, tied for the fourth-fastest time ever."From selling phones in Green Bay to beating world champions on the Diamond League circuit — Cordell's story is a masterclass in self-belief, raw talent, and grinding when no one's watching. In June 2023, Tinch clocked a world-leading 12.96 seconds in the 110m hurdles at the Arkansas Grand Prix. He furtherimproved to 12.87 seconds at the Shanghai-Keqiao Diamond League in May 2025, tying him for the fourth-fastest time ever in the event. At the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships, Tinch made history by winning the 110m hurdles, long jump, and high jump—becoming the first athlete in Division II history to secure three individual titles at a single championship. In today's conversation, Cordell takes me through his past two years as a pro, being friends with Tyrese Haliburton, what his story means to him, why he thinks he can beat Grant Holloway at the highest level, his ambitions for the season, and wisdom to anyone willing to hear it. The journey of Jackson Heidesch is one of unbridled honesty and crushing heartbreak. From high school standout to oft-injured Duke student-athlete, Jackson Heidesch has been forced to deal with more than just physical maladies. It's been 18 months of toil, rehab and bouts of depression for the Iowa native, who is now opening up about his mental health struggles. Jackson will be taking a designated pause from the NCAA to redshirt the entire indoor and outdoor season. Although he's been through ringer in his short running career, he seems to be setting the stage for a resurgence on and off the track and grass.Jackson's hardships since agreeing to run for Duke include a couple of grade 4 stress fractures; mono, and the aforementioned depression. With a combination of family support and talk therapy, in addition to physical therapy work–Jackson has come out the other side of this dark tunnel ready to get back to logging miles and competing with the best in the country. Jackson was the 2022-23 Gatorade Boys Cross Country Player of the Year for Iowa, where he broke the 4 minute mile barrier to break the state record, running a 3:59.08 at the HOKA Festival of Miles. That year he also swept the 1600m and 3200m titles at the state meet, running a 4:07.28 and a 9:08.86, respectively. In today's conversation, Jackson takes me through his past two years of ups and downs, how he became aware of his mental health, his plans going into the future, and so much more.
