http://www.sherylkline.com/blogIn the latest Fearless Female Leadership interview, I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Erika Irby, the Director, GTM Small Medium and Corporate Business, Americas at Microsoft, to explore how embracing your personal story can fuel your professional impact. Erika's energy, authenticity, and strategic insight lit up the conversation as we discussed storytelling, visibility, and fearless leadership—especially as women in tech.Erika's leadership journey began early—at just 17, she chose to stay behind and start college while her military family moved overseas. That moment, powered by grit and independence, set the tone for her lifelong mantra: "I will figure it out." Erika's resilience, her trust in the universe, and her ability to turn obstacles into growth moments have shaped an inspiring career across education, tech, and executive leadership. We also dug into the challenges women face with visibility, self-advocacy, and storytelling—especially in corporate environments. Erika emphasized the power of proactively sharing wins, creating a “walking deck” of your professional narrative, and boldly reaching out to people who can open new doors. Her message? Stop waiting. Own your story. Be strategic. Be seen.Key takeaways from the interview:0:01:15 – Erika's early independence—staying in the U.S. while her family moved abroad—instilled a lifelong sense of self-reliance and adaptability.0:02:25 – Her two personal mantras: “The universe provides” and “I will figure it out.” These guide her through both triumphs and setbacks.0:04:02 – Even when things fall apart—like losing a job or a relationship—there's purpose in the pain. Stay open to the redirection.0:07:01 – Erika's career path from teacher to tech leader highlights the power of transferable skills and trusting your evolution.0:09:23 – Confidence is built on owning your unique journey. Even a nontraditional background has tremendous value.0:12:01 – Diversity in leadership (gender, race, and background) isn't just fair—it's essential for innovation and AI inclusivity.0:14:33 – “Your work won't speak for itself.” Erika recommends monthly impact recaps to leadership—even if it feels bold.0:17:29 – Use AI tools like Copilot to amplify your voice—but remember, you are the pilot.0:18:55 – Don't just “like” on LinkedIn—add thoughtful context, tag mentors, and share your expertise to establish thought leadership.0:21:11 – Be bold and reach out to people, even if they're senior or don't know you. 80% of the time, they'll say yes.0:24:15 – Always have a “walking deck”—a personal presentation that shares your career highlights, aspirations, and values. If you're interested in being featured on the Fearless Female Leadership podcast, or you're a leader looking to gain clarity on ‘what's next', how to build more cohesive and high-performing teams, and lead with greater confidence and influence, let's have a confidential conversation.Cheering you on always!– Sheryl

Tony Coelho has spent his entire adult life helping advance the lives of people with disabilities. He calls this his “ministry”. Congressman Steny Hoyer, former House Majority Leader, says that the disability community call him their “voice” and “champion.”Diagnosed with epilepsy when he was 22 years old, Tony's ministry is marked by significant milestones: primary author and sponsor of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) — the most important piece of civil rights legislation in the last 40 years; advocating for the ratification of the U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities; and convincing President Bill Clinton to establish the Office of Disability Employment Policy at the U.S. Department of Labor. Tony continued to advocate for civil rights for individuals with disabilities by convincing President Barack Obama to issue an executive order enforcing Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 requiring federal contractors and subcontractors to hire people with disabilities as they have been doing since 1973 for women and minorities. He went on to work with the Biden White House to improve access to the internet for individuals who are blind, deaf, and physically impaired.Tony is a former six-term United States Congressman from California, elected in 1978 and serving until 1989. He served on the Agriculture, Interior, Veterans Affairs, and Administration Committees during his tenure, specializing in disability rights. In 1986, Tony was elected House Majority Whip, the third most powerful position in the House of Representatives. After leaving Congress, Tony joined Wertheim Schroder & Company, Inc., an investment-banking firm in New York, where he served as a Managing Director and then as President and CEO of Wertheim Schroder Investment Services, a firm that he grew from $400 million to $4 billion in managed investments. He formed ETC w/TCI, an education and training technology company in Washington, D.C., where he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Currently, he serves on a number of corporate boards of directors and i the founding partner of a national public affairs firm.© 2024 Building Abundant Success!!2024 All Rights ReservedJoin Me on ~ iHeart Media @ https://tinyurl.com/iHeartBASSpot Me on Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/yxuy23bAmazon Music ~ https://tinyurl.com/AmzBASAudacy: https://tinyurl.com/BASAud

Revealing the scarcest commodity in corporate business, especially in America today, first requires an understanding of how we got there. Today Barry Trailer, Co-founder of Sales Mastery, joins Chris and Corey. He reviews the four levels of process implementation: the percentage of revenue, the target revenue plan attained, the percentage of reps meeting or beating quota, the outcome of forecast deals, and rep turnover. These are real numbers. But higher levels of relationship and higher levels of process implementation lead to higher levels of performance. And the numbers are just the numbers They continued talking about the turnover. There's a huge contributory factor to the failure to implement significant change on the part of most sales organizations other than the change that a new leader brings in. What is common is that the new lion, so to speak, the new CRO, the new VP of Sales, comes in and kills the cubs. They attempt to prove that whatever was being done before must not be done anymore. Because I've come in with my new way of doing things and territory must be marked, I was brought in to do something in a new way, and away we go. When the performance isn't there, the CRO or the CSO takes the bullet that the CEO doesn't want to take. But the only reason is that there's been this unholy alliance or this unspoken agreement that as long as we make the numbers, you'll stay out of my sandbox. Introverts Vs. Extroverts have always been compared, with introverts usually seen in weak light. The research and studies show the benefits and strengths of both sides, but it is usually observed that introverts are more prone to issues of self-doubts. In the entrepreneurial journey, one is expected to be always at a fast pace and full of energy. Does that mean that it is not an introvert's specie or (s)he cannot succeed? The answer is, with the realization of his/her strengths and putting those into practice, no power can hold anyone back based on their nature as an introvert or an extrovert. About Patience Ogunbona Patience is a CEO and a Corporate and Business Trainer. She is a John Maxwell certified executive coach. Patience is also the author of two books and is writing the third one. Join BDO's Center for Corporate Governance Amy Rojik as she and her colleague Todd Simmens, National Managing Partner of Tax Risk Management, to discuss how the board's oversight of corporate strategy and risk management would be remiss without an understanding and consideration of evolving global and domestic tax regulations anticipated to significantly impact decision-making at the board level. Key Takeaways:Companies are advised to continue to remain abreast of legislative activity to inform on-going scenario planning, inclusive of the tax department and appropriate advisors. Tax implications need to be considered early on in contemplation of transactions as well as operational decisions and human resource matters.Expectations for a robust tax bill in 2022 under the Biden Administration's ‘Build Back Better' plans may have lost sight of the power that individual members of the House and Senate can have.Mid-term U.S. political elections may put some of the more contentious progressive tax increases being considered on the back burner. With regard to Biden's budget (aka the Green Book): As a reminder, certain of the Jobs Act provisions expire in 2025/2026; other provisions are permanent (e.g. Corporate Tax Rate increase from 21% to 28%, individual rates and capital gains as well as international regulations and policy changes such as the replacement of BEATS and onshoring of taxes) and would require legislation to enact tax changes.Internationally, companies are advised to be in tune to the OECD's agendaThe IRS continues to experience operational challenges including staffing issues, processing, refund delays and extended communication response times. Filers are advised to communicate with the IRS using certified mail or other form to demonstrate proof on communications. It is the responsibility of board of directors to be very aware of what tax professionals have to say about what is going on at the business level. Resources:2022 BDO Tax Outlook Survey

GUEST SUMMARY In the lab we have Stephanie Walter, CEO of Erbe Wealth. She's a capital raiser, syndicator, real estate investor, business owner, and financial educator who recently retired and sold her insurance agency of 16 years. Stephanie is able to share with Experiment Nation a unique perspective having worked in the corporate world, been a business owner and having real estate syndication replace her business and corporate income by achieving better cash flow through real estate syndication. Stephanie shares key principles that she teaches other professionals to use, how she pushed back against frustration from her early career by starting her own agency, and the path that led her from owning single family properties to real estate syndication. Stephanie worked as an insurance claims adjuster straight out of college and was frustrated after a two percent raise for eight years' work. Shortly after a conversation with her Father about it, She gave her two weeks notice and then started her own insurance agency. Sixteen years later, she sold her agency and got into real estate as part of her retirement plan. She learned about syndication after attending a boot camp and since then never looked back. Since retiring and selling her agency in 2021, Stephanie and her partners have closed their 11th syndication and have committed to educating other professionals on how to protect, grow, and preserve their wealth. Commencement Address at Yale University. New Haven, CT.Amazing finish to this speech. The last 10 minutes or so of this speech are a defining moment in JFK's Presidency. He lays out the need for America to develop an activist government and economy. The exact opposite of what he lays out in this speech happens after his death. This was a throw down to the Corporate/ Business community that the New Deal was not a thing of the past, but was going to be an active part of our nation's future...if he had anything to say about it. Let's Ditch This And Grab A Beer.."This speech to Yale graduates was done when JFK got a (presumably) honorary degree from Yale, even though he was a Harvard Man. JFK makes light of this for the first few minutes but then latches down on the topic at hand, how to improve the Economy. It's actually pretty boring, and not one of JFK's worthy efforts. He ends the speech by doing something I noticed he did quite frequently. Just leaving the podium with out saying thank you or anything lolSource linkhttps://archive.org/details/jfks19620611Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/public-access-america/exclusive-contentAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
