The guys were joined in-studio this week by Colin Sellers—land surveyor, father, veteran, and part-time GPS wizard—joined us to discuss how moving around Georgia, joining the military, and raising a kid named Ragnarok (yes, like the Norse apocalypse) all led to one thing: a love affair with surveying that might just rival his affection for coffee. From dodging camels in Djibouti to resurrecting section corners like Indiana Jones with a data collector, Colin shares tales of grit, GPS, and generational wisdom—especially the time he and his son turned a Nebraska project into a family bonding moment worthy of a Pixar movie. He also dives into For The Quest, a geo-RPG that turns map-hunting into a noble pursuit, proving once and for all that surveyors can be adventurers too… just with more sunburns and fewer dragons. And of course, it all wraps up with a dose of philosophy, family values, and a reminder that the best education often comes from the dirt under your boots—not the letters after your name. Pat Reilly is a joy! He was a joy to interview, his music gives me goose bumps, and he has this amazing voice that makes me feel like I want this episode to last forever!"Music is the fire that burns within my soul" - Pat ReillyFrom his web site we can read the following about Pat:"Pat Reilly AKA "Pat the Panther" is an international touring guitarist, session guitarist, and songwriter. Born and raised in Queens New York, Pat started playing guitar at the age of 16, drawing influence from renowned guitarists such as Mary Friedman (ex Megadeth), Dimebag Darrell (Pantera), and David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) to name a few. Although Pat's musical passions lie in the metal genre, his songwriting is quite diverse, ranging from classically composed intros to full-fledged groove-based metal compositions. Many listeners may consider Pat a "Shredder" but he frowns upon the term as he prides himself on the emotional element of songwriting and guitar playing, not so much on being purposely technical. Pat's songwriting philosophy is "Write for the song not for the ego" On the touring side of music, Pat's experience is fairly extensive. He has toured with bands such as Tengger Cavalry, Through the Discipline, Vajra, and Awaken, playing several hundred shows throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe most notably performing at New York City's prestigious Carnegie Hall. As a solo artist, Pat has released 5 instrumental tracks since 2017 and put out his first full-length album titled Path to Transcendence on January 3rd of 2020. Pat's guitar solo work can be heard throughout Tengger Cavalry's Northern Memory, Vol. 1 album, as well as on Through the Discipline's 5 Ronin EP, Rival Order's Save Me and Fellahin Fall's Of Fallen Words. Kataklysm frontman Maurizio Iacono is our guest this week. We discuss the band's latest album, Unconquered, how anxiety has driven his career and having to readjust during this time, how delaying releasing a record right now is not “metal," and whether he plans to start writing a new album right away because the band can't tour. Iacono also discusses how his job as a booking agent has been reinvented because of Covid-19, living in the middle of the road politically and the backlash that occurs because of it, why cancel culture might be necessary for us to understand each other, and how we can't educate each other anymore because of misinformation from the media. Petar, Brandon, and Sylvia break down how the Chris Cornell statue and the entire year of 2020 are like oil and water in light of the recent vandalization, Fred Durst stating that he and the boys of Limp Bizkit were never friends, and Corey Taylor almost joining Anthrax. Songs: Kataklysm - “The Killshot," Hinayana - “Cold Conception" (Featuring the late Nature Ganganbaigal of Tengger Cavalry)
