We're back, and this time we've gone back 4 whole decades to talk about our favourite songs from 1984, including lots of jazzy indiepop, metal (from extreme to hair), german pop, and the mystery of whether Lionel Richie or Prince's girlfriend keep phoning Rockwell.We've each chosen our 10 favourite songs of the year and sent them over to Colin's wife Helen, who put the playlists together and distributed them so we were each given a playlist of the 20 songs from the other two hosts, along with our own 10. We are going way back in time, to good ole 1935, and reviewing one of the greatest swashbuckling pirate flicks of all time. Captain Blood! With Errol Flynn and Olivia De Havilland in their first major cinema roles. Plus, the great Basil Rathbone (Sherlock Holmes and the Sheriff of Nottingham) collides with Errol Flynn in a marvelous sword fight on the beach. Directed too by Michael Curtiz of Casablanca, to name a small film. You just don't get that same kind of high adventure glory these days. And if you think that the 1930s of cinema may be a little archaic, well you just need to dive back in time and find out how sophisticated and dialed in the motion picture industry was at this point. They don't call it the golden age of cinema for nothing. Fantastic sets, battling miniature Manowar ships, stunts galore, artistic cinematography, solid pacing, and acting to just put a smile on your face. Manowar - no other band fractures the metal world like the self-proclaimed "Kings of Metal". Some pound their chest and pledge allegiance to the band, while others simply let out a laugh at the mere mention of their name. Me? I absolutely love the first four full lengths (represented here), while smirking at the band's he-man persona and definately hearing a drop in quality from thereon out to the present day. Drawing influence from bands such as Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Rainbow, Uriah Heep, Nazareth and Manowar, Grand Magus' sound consists of an amalgamation of blues, hard rock, heavy metal and doom.Eighth endeavor, and the band's latest studio album Sword Songs was released May 13, 2016.  The songs were recorded during the Midwinter months of 2015-16, produced by Nico Elgstrand. On the lead up to release, JB commented: "We put all of our sweat, blood and tears into this new album and I think that you can hear that. For me, Sword Songs is the best GRAND MAGUS album ever!
