Katie Ferguson was on a trip across the country with her ex boyfriend and her two children. She has not been seen since. Her ex boyfriend has been arrested on unrelated charges, but the authorities investigating the situation say that all signs point back to Adam Aviles, the ex boyfriend in question. However, they have not charged him with anything besides being a felon in posession of ammunition. Aviles remains in jail on the charges.Jason Jolkowski, a 19-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska, disappeared on June 13, 2001, while walking to meet a coworker for a ride to work. Despite extensive investigations by the police and relentless advocacy by his family, no leads or evidence have surfaced to explain his disappearance. His mother, Kelly Jolkowski, founded Project Jason, a non-profit that supports families of missing persons, and pushed for legislative changes, resulting in the passage of “Jason's Law” in Nebraska. Numerous theories have been proposed, including abduction, medical emergency, or trafficking, but none have been substantiated. The family continues to fight for answers, utilizing new forensic technologies, private investigators, and public outreach efforts, keeping Jason's story alive and advocating for other missing persons. Send us a textWelcome along to another episode of the Agegroup Multisport Podcast. On this episode, we speak to Andy Holliday, Gb age group triathlete and duathlete.Andy states "Previously had done marathons and other running events and before that had done a lot of time trials and road races and mtb events.I started multisport at the London Duathlon in Richmond in 2018, and got a reasonable result, like I finished mid-pack but it was enough to raise the idea of what was possible. My brother was at this time competing in Ironman events and mentioned the age-group with British Tri. A bit of investigation and it seemed like a possibility. Next event was Oulton Park a qualifier. While I was outside of qual time I was close enough to start to think it was possible. Next up was Stockton Duathlon and on a grim day I bagged a spot on the age-group team. Then COVID hit and my event was repeatedly postponed before finally getting to compete at Aviles. That was a mental journey almost not going 2 weeks before as I believed I wasn't good enough etc. classic imposter stuff. First experience of AG team was amazing, loved the event the race the build up wandering around the town seeing other athletes in GB kit. This year I had qualified for Vichy in Standard Triathlon, got there in the best shape I had been in, super confident of being able to deliver a great performance. Unfortunately my race lasted less than 3 minutes due to a cold shock panic attack in the water. Really interesting about how this impacted me and rather than throwing me off has provided greater motivation to compete.Qualified again last year for Middle Distance and Standard Duathlon for the upcoming Pontevedra, also aiming for the cross duathlon qualification. The big goal is the Zofingen Long Distance in Sept 2025. Also maybe a half and marathon PB as well. Outside of triathlon I am a performance and leadership coach and work a lot with talking about how the mind impacts performance either positively or negatively and how to harness this."Really interesting to chat about his mental issues and how he has worked them through.hope you enjoy his journey.you can follow Andy on Instagram @andyholladay1you can vote for us using this link https://www.sportspodcastgroup.com/shortlist-category/You Can Follow us onYouTube - AMP GB Instagram @amp_1967X : agegroupmultisportpodcastFacebook : AMPGBfind all our episodes on our websiteWebsite is : https://agegroupmultisportpodcast.buzzsprout.com/email: agegroupmultisportpodcast@gmail.comIf you are an agegroup athlete and would like to come on the pod, get in touch.

The word "bureaucracy" conjures up images of red tape and long lines at the DMV, not cutting-edge innovation. But some of the most significant scientific and health innovations of the past century have actually come from scientist-bureaucrats at government research institutes. On this episode, host Jason Lloyd is joined by Natalie Aviles, an assistant professor at the University of Virginia and author of An Ungovernable Foe: Science and Policy Innovation in the US National Cancer Institute. Aviles explains what the National Cancer Institute does and how the mission and culture of the agency have enabled its scientist-bureaucrats to conduct pioneering cancer research, such as the invention of the human papillomavirus, or HPV, vaccine. Resources: Check out Natalie Aviles's book, An Ungovernable Foe: Science and Policy Innovation in the U.S. National Cancer Institute, to learn more about the NCI. This episode is just a short snippet that highlights the best and most powerful learning moment from a past episode. You can listen to the full episode (filled with more wisdom) here: Episode 55: Being bold and letting your feet do the talking. Key Discussion Points: 01:00 Negotiation Tactics: When it comes to negotiations, come prepared, ask for what you want, and have the courage to have uncomfortable conversations. 03:28 Let Your Feet Do the Talking: If you are constantly being told that you need to do/be/have just one more thing before you can get a promotion, it is time to find another job. 04:44 The Power of the Pause: If you are having a conversation with your supervisor about a promotion, ask them to tell you more and then sit quietly and wait. Don't try and fill the silence. 06:23 Seek New Opportunities: Don't let one rejection decrease your self-worth. There are so many opportunities out there for you to seek out. In Summary: Martha Aviles challenges us to have uncomfortable conversations. She urges us to not let the fear of rejection stand in our way of asking for a raise or a promotion because the only thing worse than rejection is not trying. Send us a textThis episode features Robert Holloway, who has been in our sport for 35 years.Robert says " I played football to a reasonable standard until I was 16 and like most kids of mygeneration I was very active either doing a 3 mile walk to school there and back andthen kicking a ball around when I got home. Not much happened sport's wise until early 1984 when my colleagues at work dared me to compete in the Civil Service and Post Office half marathon at Windsor Great Park. Training was slow to start with but I persevered and finished in a time of 1hr 34m. Those in the know told me that that was a good time for a newbie so then decision was taken to give this running lark a go. I joined my local running club, Woking AC, and was soon taking part in a number of local road races. By 1986 In had built up my training volume to have a crack at the full marathon distance. I chose the 1986 Abingdon marathon to pop my marathon cherry and finished in a time of 2hrs 54m. That time gave me the incentive to pursue marathon running as my preferred distance and in 1987 my crowning glory came at the London Marathon when I clocked 2hrs 42m. I then set my sights on breaking the 2hrs 40m barrier but all those weeks of 100 mile training took their toll and it was a case of managing one lower leg injury after another. My road running days were not what they used to be but rescue came in the form of a running magazine article on this new fangled sport called triathlon. I could clearly run a bit and always enjoyed swimming and could ride a bike so why not give it ago? I entered the Wokingham Try a Tri sprint triathlon in 1989. I. I can't recall my time but I must have enjoyed it because some 35 years later I am still competing in triathlon and multisport. In 2009 not only my triathlon World but my Whole World collapsed around me. It turned out that I had suffered a major bilateral pulmonary embolism preceded by a blood clot that had found its way into both of my lungs. Needless tosay my triathlon days were put on hold.In good time I got back into something like normal training but didn't compete until 2014 when, on a whim, I entered the Hever Castle sprint triathlon. To myastonishment I came home with an age group win and another trophy for the cabinet! I continued to train and compete at a reasonable standard but in 2016 at age 62 I decided that I had achieved everything I wanted to achieve in the sport and called it a day. Or so I thought!Turning the clock forward to 2019 and the onset of covid, I was still working full time but without any sporting activity for about three years or so I had managed to put on almost four stone over my normal racing weight of ten stone. I was soon working from home and the temptation to go out for a run in the vain hope of losing weight became too strong. As the weight melted away I discovered that I was pretty useful on the bike and the run so much so that within a year I had qualified for and competed in the World Duathlon Championships in Aviles. Other championship events followed in Bilbao, Ibiza and more recently, Coimbra where I achieved my best ever finish of fifth place and third Brit home in the 70-74 age group. I have my eyes on a 70.3 event in 2026, possibly Jeselo, and in 2027 I would hopeto qualify for the World multisport championships in Edmonton, Canada. I also want to experiment with aquabike and aquathlon. Aviles, Puerto Rico +200,000 no tienen plan médico.

Listen to this interview of Natalie Aviles, Assistant Professor of Sociology, University of Virginia. We talk about how organizations shape people, and how people shape science. Natalie Aviles : "I think, in general, the more self-conscious that scientists can be about what motivates them, about what makes them happy, about what drives them — the more, then, they can try to imagine a future that satisfies not only their intellectual curiosity but helps them navigate, too, the very sort of prosaic conditions that they find themselves in on a day-to-day basis." The Canadian theatrical release of her second feature Tótem gives writer-director Lila Avilés the chance to bend the format a little and talk about how her voracious, lifelong love of cinema -- from Disney to Cassavetes -- helped her find her own aesthetic as an artist. Your genial host Norm Wilner apologizes for his voice, which he blew out doing Canada's Top Ten events over the weekend.

Katie Ferguson and Adam Aviles Jr. have been involved in a relationship for several years and share two daughters. When Katie and Adam separate, Adam stays in Cody, Wyoming. Katie and the girls move in with Katie Ferguson's mother, Mona Hartling, in Dothan, Alabama. After spending the summer with her mother, Katie Ferguson reaches out to her ex, Adam Aviles Jr. She wants the girls to have time with their dad. Katie Ferguson tells her family that Adam has really "grown up" since they have been apart. Adam starts the round-trip drive from Wyoming. On their drive back, Aviles, Ferguson, and their girls draw the attention of local police. They are sitting in a parking lot with the front passenger door open on their Dodge Durango. A Trumann, Arkansas police officer asks how they are doing. Katie Ferguson tells the officer they are a bit tired but fine. Four days later, the Dodge Durango, with Adam Aviles Jr. behind the wheel, is captured by a Texas DPS patrol camera. Two things are noticeably different from the police encounter in Arkansas. Katie Ferguson is not in the vehicle and, there is a projectile hole in the front passenger door concealed with tape. Where is Katie? BEST OF: Stephen Hawking once said that “if aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when Columbus landed in America, which didn't turn out well for the Native Americans.” But this is a gross oversimplification of history. It is a narrative with truly disgusting caricatures that lack context, and therefore cultivate divisiveness and ignorance.Long before the traditional Pilgrim story, and even before Columbus, white men arrived in the Americas bringing gifts, goods, and new, sometimes similar traditions - these were largely known as the Templars. They were welcomed by many societies who saw them as the return of the white gods who built civilization in parts of the Americas. When the Spanish arrived later they were seen as the same gods, but used this religious belief to commit atrocity against a people themselves engaged in barbaric practices like human sacrifices. Conquistadors do NOT represent all Europeans. Pilgrims were religious refugees and shared a different motivation from conquistadors, and the later colonizers, settlers, land speculators, etc. Likewise, various Indian tribes welcomed Europeans just as many saw them as savages. For as many Europeans whom saw Indians as savages there were plenty who saw them as business partners, friends, and more. Long before Europeans arrived officially we know that many Indian tribes had destroyed their hunting lands and fishing waters, were at war with one another, and later became dependent on European goods, as much as Europeans were reliant on the same. Red and White men were driven into conflict largely by greed and ignorance, particularly of each others' cultures and economic systems. For all the attention focused on Plymouth, it was actually the Spanish admiral Don Pedro Menéndez de Aviles at St. Augustine in the 1860s who invited the local Timucua indigenous tribe to share in celebration and prayer for his safe arrival and the abundance of the new world. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5328407/advertisement
