Milwaukee went 3-3 out west and got some encouraging performances from its patchwork starting rotation, so that's good news, right? Bullpen struggles played a role in all three losses, especially for Joel Payamps, and a 4-0 lead lost in the ninth Saturday looms large. Brewers reporter Curt Hogg and host JR Radcliffe discuss the bullpen and whether personnel moves are called for. Are we closer to Craig Yoho? They revisit the early-week trade for Quinn Priester and whether or not it was too high a price, plus the other roster move in December that looms over everything. The rotation got lots of good news, including the debut of Jose Quintana, a credible debut for Priester and yet another strong showing by Chad Patrick. Brice Turang just keeps hitting the ball hard and William Contreras may have turned a corner, but what about Rhys Hoskins, Joey Ortiz and Christian Yelich? In Three Up, Three Down (37:20), Tyler Alexander makes a circus catch and Jackson Chourio is chasing a weird bit of Brewers history. In Remembrew When (47:50), we visit one of the many Quintana outings against the Brewers, and Curt Blanche (55:10) has a spicy video-game take. Then, JR sits down with Jake Bauers (59:15), Brewers first baseman, to discuss his path to the big leagues, how seriously he takes his unconventional role as mop-up pitcher and his memories of last year's dramatic playoff homer ... and why he thinks it's a springboard into this season. Music intro from bensound.com. Musical cues (in order): "I Got What You Want" (Extended Version) by Gloria Tells, "Arriving at Dusk" by American Legion and "Screaming Fool" by Andreas Dahlback, all from www.epidemicsound.com.
Balky is joined by The Score's Alex Thomas to discuss how the Wisconsin Badgers and Marquette Golden Eagles could not make it into the second weekend of the 2025 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship Tournament. Brewer Fanatic and Brewer Fanatic Podcast co-host Jack Stern also hangs out to talk Blake Perkins, Mark Canha, Jake Bauers, Caleb Durbin, Tyler Black and more.
On this week's show the guys discussed the exchange of arbitration numbers with William Contreras, the settlements with everyone else, Brandon Woodruff's health, Jake Bauers return and where we'd put the park if we could drop it elsewhere. The Brewers season ... still over, and now the Mets are done, too, after wreaking a little bit of extra postseason havoc. Could the Brewers have realistically hung with the Dodgers or Yankees in the playoffs? Brewers reporter Curt Hogg and host JR Radcliffe discuss a number of things this week, from the postseason press conference, to the second act of reliever Jake Cousins to some early predictions about how free agency will go and even some names to discuss. But they also revisit some 2024 mysteries that still leave them puzzled. Why did the team insist on playing Rhys Hoskins at first base and Jake Bauers at designated hitter? Why did Bryan Hudson not get a postseason spot? Why did William Contreras keep catching so often? Why did they play ABBA in Game 3? Musical cues (in order of use): "Strobes" by Epocha, "Ricketts Glenn" by Roy Williams and "Rock is Back" by Got Happy. Royalty-free music available at EpidemicSound.com.

The Brewers fell behind 8-0 after the top of the third inning and it looked like the Brewers were going to lose their fourth in a row for the first time this season. However the Brewers had other plans as they little by little closed the gap until the took a 10-9 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning when Jake Bauers hit an infield RBI single. Devin Williams came into the ninth inning and slammed the door shut to get his 13th save since coming back from his back injury. Dominic Cotroneo discussed the win during Brewers Extra Innings.

With another 5-2 week in the books, the Milwaukee Brewers can safely look ahead to the postseason with a month to go. Brewers reporter Todd Rosiak joins host JR Radcliffe to discuss the roster moves still to be made (or not made? Like Jacob Misiorowski?), the resurgent pitching performances of Aaron Ashby, Freddy Peralta and DL Hall, the sustained excellence of rookie Jackson Chourio and the steady strength of William Contreras and Willy Adames. In Three Up Three Down, we're talking Blake Perkins home-run robberies, Jake Bauers saving the day and a Brewer on the Brewers. The Brewers needed a win after dropping the first two game of the series to the Miami Marlins and they got the win on Ryan Braun Day. A day that former Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun was inducted to the Brewers Walk of Fame, left fielder Jake Bauers and 20 year old old fielder Jackson Chourio both homered to help the Brewers win 6-2. Was their worthy breaking Yankee news on the show?
The New York Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-3 to salvage the final game of their three-game series. Gerrit Cole bounced back from an iffy five-inning outing against the Pirates to throw eight innings of one-run ball on Thursday night. He also struck out nine and possibly nailed down the AL Cy Young Award. Stacey and Steve talk about that. Plus, Jake Bauers got the scoring started with a three-run jack to put the Yankees up 3-0 early, and Estevan Florial and Aaron Judge added RBI doubles to give the Yankees five runs, which they would need because of a not-so-great start to the ninth inning from Clay Holmes and a couple of not-so-great throws from Gleyber Torres. In sad news, the Somerset Patriots' season ended when the Binghamton Rumble Ponies eliminated them on Thursday night. The offense didn't show up in the two-game sweep, but friend of the show Richard Fitts had a strong six-inning start with eight strikeouts. Then, it's FanMail Friday! But since coming up from Triple-A earlier this year, the former top prospect has been mashing for the Yankees. Then, Jon and Yankees Magazine editor in chief Alfred Santasiere III chat about Al's two features in the August issue, a Q&A with Roy White and a story about Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders manager Shelley Dunca. The Tampa Bay Rays won the first game of a three game series against the New York Yankees 5-1. Tyler Glasnow was impressive, going 7 innings strong allowing only one run (Jake Bauers solo shot) and making it the third outing in a row completing seven innings. Hour 2: People on the DA Show are crying that Shaun Morash is moving to WFAN. Tiki and Tierney were also reminiscing about their many years together before the changes take place. A lot of the people on air around here now have come through Eddie's internship program. Eddie is our ‘Stick' Michaels.
