This week's episode kicks off with a downhill fast story that involves a small mishap with the baby. It should be said that no baby was hurt, and really a baby was only startled. Poor Rheannon lost track of who all was in the bed, and perhaps mistook a baby in a bouncer for a cat. Tamara tagged along when her brother and niece were getting hair cuts at Great Clips. It maybe wasn't a great hair cut, but it was worth the $20. Tamara and Rheannon like the tv show The Last of Us for different reasons, but they agree that it is filmed beautifully. Tamara makes a birthday suggestion of having mustaches to go along with the cowboy hats. The mustaches reminded Tamara about a time that she went white water rafting, and much like this episode it goes downhill fast.

On this episode, I have the absolute pleasure of sitting down with two incredible brothers—Pat and Robert McLaughlin. These guys are the real deal. Not only are they heart-driven leaders making a huge impact in their respective fields, but they recently joined us in Orlando at our Day of Development and Jon Gordon Certified events, dove right in, and became Jon Gordon Certified Trainers! Pat McLaughlin is a serial entrepreneur, chiropractor, business owner, and author. He's run everything from chiropractic practices to hair salons (yes, you read that right), and his latest passion project is writing and speaking on the power of being present. Robert McLaughlin brings nearly three decades of experience at Chick-fil-A, where he leads with positivity as the head of their Support team, championing a drum-banging culture of recognition and continuous improvement. In our conversation, we dig into what makes these brothers tick—their shared values, powerful family bonds, and personal journeys through both triumph and tragedy. We talk about leadership lessons from the sports field and the importance of investing in yourself so you can invest more in others. The McLaughlin brothers open up about their commitment to positive leadership and how they're using their certification to pour into organizations, schools, and communities. Give it a listen and get ready to bang the drum (you'll see what I mean)! A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with an MBA from Notre Dame, Robert brings both business acumen and heart to everything he does. Beyond the boardroom, he's a three-time Ironman triathlete, motivational speaker, proud husband of his high school sweetheart, Holly, and devoted girl dad to two daughters. In this episode, he shares leadership insights, stories from his journey, and what it takes to lead with purpose at one of America's most beloved brands. About Pat, Dr. Patrick (Pat) McLaughlin is a seasoned chiropractor, entrepreneur, author, and speaker on a mission to help people align their lives and become the best version of themselves. Since opening his first practice in 1991, he's launched seven chiropractic offices and currently runs two successful practices in eastern North Carolina. But his passion for impact doesn't stop there—he's also built businesses with Great Clips, Duck Donuts, StayDry Med Centers, and Shape Med Centers, once owning 50 Great Clips salons and ranking among the top franchisees in North America. A lifelong learner and avid reader, Pat is now focused on writing and speaking to empower others. He's the author of The Bear Facts of Life and the upcoming The Power of Being Present, and serves as a guest lecturer for UNC Chapel Hill's entrepreneurship program. In this episode, he shares practical wisdom on leadership, personal growth, and what it means to truly live in alignment. Pat has been married to his wife, Maria, since 1995 and is a proud father of four. Monday afternoon means a new episode of the Real Life Podcast is ready to kick off your week and help you make sense of this crazy little thing called life. On this week's podcast, the guys recapped their Christmas break and walked through all of the stories you missed over the last week since the last show. The guys kicked off the Monday episode of Real Life with a random selection of topics, ranging from Tyler's first egg nog in his adult life to how many hot dogs someone can eat before they're tired of them. That led Jay to tell the story of one of his Canada Day parties, where he overindulged on dogs and ended up having one of the worst experiences of his life.Changing gears, the guys shifted the podcast to how everyone spent their Christmas. For Jay, having a young daughter who's old enough to be excited for Santa was a wonderful experience. This year, Santa brought Crawford a GT Snow Racer, and it was a proud dad moment to see her cruising down the hill like a little speed demon.Sticking with the Christmas conversation, the guys talked about their favourite gifts from this year and how it made everyone feel incredibly old because all of the best presents were incredibly practical. If you're ever feeling old, nothing lets you know you're actually there quite like being excited about new pans and a fresh wok. Finally, the first episode of Real Life of the week wrapped with a conversation with some hockey talk. Starting with the World Juniors, the guys discussed whether they're still as excited as they used to be about the annual Christmas tourney. Was everyone more into the tournament when the Oilers were bad? As you'll hear, the tournament seems to have lost its lustre for the boys on the show as they've gotten older.
Joining us to provide his insights is Sportsnet analyst Louie DeBrusk, who will help us unpack the Oilers' 0-1-1 start since returning from the holiday break.
The holiday break didn't bring the results the Edmonton Oilers were hoping for, as they dropped back-to-back games to division rivals over the weekend. On today's Oilersnation Everyday, we'll recap their 4-3 overtime loss to the LA Kings and their frustrating 5-2 defeat to the Anaheim Ducks. We'll go through the scoring summaries for both games, dive into the ongoing goaltending issues, and discuss the controversial decision to scratch Jeff Skinner in favor of Derek Ryan.Joining us to provide his insights is Sportsnet analyst Louie DeBrusk, who will help us unpack the Oilers' 0-1-1 start since returning from the holiday break. It's a jam-packed show, so don't miss it!
The boys are back from Christmas break with a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio, recapping the holiday and getting everyone ready for tomorrow's matchup between the Edmonton Oilers and the Los Angeles Kings. On this week's show, the guys discussed the Christmas break, the Oilers' schedule, playoff races, and a whole lot more. The Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio kicked off with a delicious debate about the Pacific Division standings and, specifically, how everyone would feel about another playoff matchup against the L.A. Kings. Even though we're still a long way from the end of the season, Edmonton/Los Angeles would be the first-round matchup if the playoffs started today.Next, we looked back on Edmonton's very strong December, which led to the conversation about whether this is the standard we should expect going forward. Even if you don't expect the Oil to win 11 of every 13 games they play, what everyone agreed on is that no one should be surprised by the way the team turned things around after another slow start. If anything, we could see more runs like the one the boys were on before the Christmas break. Working through the back half of the podcast, we changed gears to a little bit of betting talk centred around Connor McDavid's Art Ross Trophy race. Now that McDavid is just outside the top six in league scoring, everyone gave their take on whether the captain has enough runway left to finish climbing the ladder. Given that the odds are getting juicy, would you consider dropping a few dollars on No. 97 to win another Art Ross Trophy, even with work to do?Finally, the boys wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot that featured some Oilers and Christmas questions. As always, the fellas gave their best advice whether they were qualified or not. Last but not least, everyone gave their best and worst moments from the last week in another round of Hot and Cold Performers.

Monday afternoon means a new episode of the Real Life Podcast is ready to kick off your week and help you navigate the Christmas break. On today's show, the boys discussed Leon Draisaitl's fantastic season, NFL quarterback gifts, and much more. With only Baggedmilk and Tyler available to record, the boys started the Monday episode with some Oilers talk. Starting with Leon Draisaitl's commitment to defence, it's been wonderful to watch our German superstar elevating his game at a time when the team needed him. While we've seen him play more of a two-way style in the playoffs, having him do it during the early days of the regular season has been fantastic. Changing gears, the conversation shifted to some of the gifts NFL quarterbacks are giving their offensive linemen as gifts, and what we've learned is that those dudes are that they have no problem spending cash on the big men who protect them. Whether it's giving the O-line a new car, expensive tequila, or explaining that they can't all get guns, it's fascinating to see the kind of money that flies around at Christmas. Getting back on the ice, Baggedmilk and Tyler spent some time talking about the father and son who got into a fight with each other at a beer league game. It prompted the boys to wonder how they would fare against their own dads if push came to shove. As you'll hear, neither of them thinks they'd have any chance against their dads on flat ground but could have a chance to win that fight on ice. Finally, Tyler and Baggedmilk wrapped up the podcast with some more hockey talk as they looked around the league and tried to figure out why some of the bad teams aren't better. Why do the Buffalo Sabres always suck? Is Steve Yzerman as good of a general manager as people expected? All the fellas know for sure is that there are a lot of stinky teams out there, and knowing that gives Baggedmilk comfort.

After a tough loss to the Florida Panthers on Monday, the Edmonton Oilers got themselves back in the win column with a comeback effort against the Boston Bruins. Was it the prettiest win you'll ever see? No. Does it matter when you get two points? Also, no... maybe. We started the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with a delicious debate about the Oilers' new defensive pairings from practice this morning. Although Kris Knoblauch doesn't mix up his D-pairings very often, this morning's practice showed a significant shift away from the status quo. Do you like the new pairings? Do you hate them? Are you confused by the change like Baggedmilk? The answers were all over the map.Changing gears, we looked back at Thursday's win over the Bruins and how the Oilers secured the victory despite not playing their best game. A big part of that win was Leon Draisaitl's seventh consecutive multi-point night, which gave him 50 on the year and 900 points in his career. We also discussed Viktor Arvidsson's return to the lineup and how a devastating hit in the corner arguably punctuated his first night back on the ice. Finally, we finished the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots, betting talk, and Hot and Cold Performers to wrap up the week. With all of the serious Oilers talk out of the way, it's always nice to wind down with a little bit of shenanigans, and there was plenty of that in the second episode of the week. As for what next week's schedule looks like, we'll be taking Tuesday off to enjoy Christmas Eve before getting right back on it for the Friday episode of the pod.

Thursday afternoon means a new episode of the Real Life Podcast is ready to wrap up your week and help you navigate the rest of it. On today's show, the guys discussed the Nation Christmas party, Babe Rwuth theories, and some love for Zach Hyman's toughness. The boys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a discussion about the Nation Christmas party that happened last night at Nation HQ and how the party rolled on until 4 AM for some of the staff. After spending literally two seconds recapping the party, the conversation turned to a much darker place. If you've never heard the Babe Ruth stories from back in the day, this first section of the podcast will be illuminating. From there, the conversation turned back to the White Elephant gift exchange at the Nation Christmas party and how it was an elite way to spend an hour. Not only were there endless steals, but the chaos that ensued as the rounds progressed was thrilling to witness. That also led to the boys discussing whether it's fair game to take your own present back, provided you're not thrilled with the other options.Moving the show back to the Oilers, the guys started the discussion with some love for Zach Hyman after getting his nose broken and returning to play the very next period. If you've seen the pictures of him from practice Thursday morning, it's incredible to think of how tough the guy has to be to keep playing with that kind of injury. The fellas also covered the disappointing loss to the Florida Panthers on Monday, and how it was an annoying blip during what has been a fantastic stretch of hockey. Finally, Chalmers asked the guys for their opinion on using the app Splitwise, and if it ever makes sense to split costs equally. While there are certainly times when splitting the bill makes sense, getting too much into the weeds on expenses can really ruin the vibe of a trip. As you'll hear, no one on the podcast subscribes to this kind of thing, and you'd be better off not inviting them anywhere if you are.

The Edmonton Oilers had their five game win streak snapped last night against the Florida Panthers. It was a chaotic game with neither team playing well but, unfortunately, it was the Panthers that found the sixth goal before the Oilers did. Liam, Rick and Nation Dan will talk you back through that game discussing the performance of Evan Bouchard, Stuart Skinner and Zach Hyman. Additionally, they talked about the controversial decision to allow Matthew Tkachuk's power play goal stand after there was a discussion if he kicked the puck or not. Furthermore, after that defeat, head coach Kris Knoblauch shuffled up the line combinations with Jeff Skinner and Connor Brown switching spots. There were also comments about when Viktor Arvidsson could return to the lineup. You can expect all of that and more on today's episode of Oilersnation Radio.

The guys are back for a new edition of the Real Life Podcast as they sat down to recap the weekend. To kick things off, Tyler talked about his EPS ride along from this weekend. He shared a few stories and the guys wondered if would make a good police officer. There were a couple of spicy moments that he told everyone about and that took the podcast in a few pretty interesting directions. From there, they started talking about the Oilers big win over the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday afternoon. The big story was whether or not Jays daughter was finally able to meet Hunter the Lynx but outside of that, they did talk about what's been driving this winning streak for the Oil.Wanye says it was the most impressive win of the season which led to a look back at some of the other big games from the first two months of the season. Is this Oilers team back to the same level that they were at the end of last season? The guys broke it all down. They then talked about a couple of big trips that the group has coming in 2025 including going back out to Jasper for the annual pond hockey tournament and heading to Vegas for the Oilers game in April. They shared what they're excited about and talked about how you can join them!

The Edmonton Oilers have steamrolled through their competition over the last week, which meant there was plenty to discuss on the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio. The guys kicked off the Friday episode of the podcast with a delicious debate about whether Ryan Hartman should be suspended for his dirty hit on Evan Bouchard in Thursday's game against the Minnesota Wild. Given that Hartman has a history of being fined and suspended for dirty plays, the conversation was a little more split than you may think. After watching the video a handful of times, the guys' thoughts were all over the map as they tried to figure out what the right move was. Changing gears, we looked back at last night's 7-1 win over the Minnesota Wild and how it was one of the most dominant performances the Oilers have had in quite some time. Not only was it a total beatdown, but to do it against one of the best teams in the league was a surprise that none of us saw coming. From Calvin Pickard playing lights out between the pipes to Leon Draisaitl taking over the game with a dominant performance, the Oilers got big performances from key players on their road to victory.Given how the Oilers are playing right now, there are going to be some very interesting roster decisions to make as the team gets healthy. As an example, who comes out of the lineup when a guy like Viktor Arvidsson comes back? What about down the line when Evander Kane comes back? Needless to say, this is a very good problem for the team to have and one that we haven't really experienced before. When you're a strong hockey club like the Oilers are, the team has a chance to get even better and that's a fantastic to think about.

Thursday afternoon means a new episode of the Real Life Podcast is ready to wrap up your week and help you navigate the rest of it. On today's show, the guys discussed Christmas gift-giving, the price of hockey equipment, and where everyone sits with Egg Nog.The boys started the podcast with an extended conversation about tap water and how Chalmers has resorted to buying distilled water to make his ice to avoid the fog caused by tap water. As you'll hear, no one was on board with this strategy, and the reaction to his story left Chalmers feeling vulnerable about his admission.Somehow, the discussion about tap water and ice machines led to a conversation about egg nog. Tyler had some in his fridge but refused to try them. From there, the guys wondered if there are any Egg Nog applications they haven't experienced yet. Would it make sense in a latte? How about raw dog pouring it into coffee instead of milk or creamer?Changing gears, Chalmers went on a classic rant about the price of hockey sticks and how both of his sons needed new ones this past week, effectively eliminating the bulk of their Christmas present. Talking about hockey sticks then got the guys going on Tyler's beef with getting gift cards at Christmas, but as you'll hear, his logic on the topic wasn't exactly sound. Finally, the boys wrapped up the Thursday episode of the podcast with a collection of topics, including Juan Soto's new contract, Chalmers new phone game, and the brand new Nation Vacation to Vegas that launched Thursday. As always, the Thursday episode of Real Life was all over the map, so this is the perfect podcast for you if you're into shenanigans and nonsense.

It's game day for the Edmonton Oilers as they kick off a very tough stretch in their schedule, which meant there was plenty to talk about on the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. The guys started the first episode of Oilersnation Radio with a delicious debate about yesterday's Mackenzie Blackwood trade and whether the Oilers missed the opportunity to acquire the former San Jose Shark. Given the limited picks and prospects available for trade, could the Oilers have tabled a similar offer even if they wanted to try? The other angle the guys discussed is whether Blackwood would fit the plans, given how well Skinner and Pickard are playing right now.Changing gears, we reviewed the report from earlier today that the Oilers and McDavid have yet to start contract negotiations and probably will not until the season is over. We also looked at the incredible run that Connor McDavid has been on over his last 13 games, and we then worked through our guesses about when he could take over the NHL scoring lead. Pivoting to Saturday's win over the St. Louis Blues, we then discussed whether it was cool to boo Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway during that game. As you'll hear, none of us had a problem with it, even though some local media members disagreed.Looking ahead at the 4 Nations Face-Off, we discussed whether it was a problem that only three Oilers were named to the tournament. Seeing as Zach Hyman and Evan Bouchard were notable omissions from the Canadian roster, we wondered how big of a deal it is that they won't be playing, especially when you remember that two weeks of rest at that point of the year could be a good thing. The other angle will be whether those guys will eventually make their way onto the team if injuries arise.

It wouldn't be a Monday afternoon without a fresh episode of the Real Life podcast, would it? Of course not.The guys kicked off the first podcast episode of the week by discussing the Nation Citizen Christmas party and how the boys are excited to see everyone at Dogpatch for a night of shenanigans and a viewing party. That led to a chat about Baggedmilk and Jay's time in Toronto and how they had to jump on a plane almost immediately after getting home from the #NationVacation from Denver.Turning the show back to the Oilers, the conversation turned to whether or not it was fair that the Rogers Place faithful let the boo birds rain down on Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg. Unlike some folks in the media, the boys thought booing them was fair game. Even though both players weren't necessarily at fault for the offer sheet situation, everyone wondered if part of booing those two was also a reflection of what the fanbase thinks of management.Changing gears, the guys discussed the Juan Soto contract that he signed with the NY Mets and how the money in that sport is completely bananas. Despite not being in the same league as Shohei Ohtani in terms of being a hitter and pitcher, the Soto contract is almost as big as the New York Mets decided to empty the vault out for the former-Yankee. Now that Soto is a Met, it will be fantastic to see what the reception is like the first time he goes back to Yankee stadium. Finally, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a discussion about the annual Jasper Pond Hockey Tournament that will be happening again in January. After the devastation of the wildfires from this past summer, knowing that the tourney is back makes everyone so very happy. If you want to sign up for the tournament, head to the CHE Hockey website and enter your team before they're full.

Tyler, Rick and Liam are here for a new edition of Oilersnation Radio as they look back at the week that was around the Edmonton Oilers. To kick things off, they looked at the two games that the team has played since the last podcast. They lost to the Vegas Golden Knights but bounced back in a big way to beat the Columbus Blue Jackets. They gave their thoughts on the victory and how the team has looked over the past week. From there, they talked about Jeff Skinners spot in the lineup and whether or not he's earned another crack up in the Oilers top six. They also hit on the minor league deal that the team made earlier today. In Ask The Idiots, they discussed the Jacob Trouba trade that dropped earlier today and Rick gave his take on the list of Oilers that were left off Team Canada's roster at the 4 Nations Faceoff. He actually thinks the downtime will be good for the Oilers. To wrap up the show, they looked ahead to the game against St. Louis, talked about whether or not Broberg and Holloway will get booed in their return to Rogers Place, and the Oilers chances of catching Vegas for the top spot in the division.

The boys are back in Edmonton for their regularly scheduled Thursday edition of The Real Life Podcast. With Jay and Baggedmilk still on the road, today's episode featured Tyler, Wanye, and Chalmers and one of the three was in a very spicy mood.Chalmers hasn't been on the podcast for a few weeks as he recovered from elbow surgery and he returned to tell us the tales of his surgery and how good he's feeling in the aftermath. He was also livid that the boys are back in the old studio after moving upstairs for exactly one episode. From there, they talked about the Four Nations Faceoff roster reveal and the stunning lack of Oilers in the mix for Team Canada. They also talked about the selection process in general and then got into some talk about the current state of the Oilers after their 1-0 loss to the Golden Knights. Tyler also told some more tales from The Nation Vacation and Chalmers had some takes about the current state of youth hockey.

Tyler, Baggedmilk, Rick and Jay fired up the mobile studio from their hotel room in downtown Denver, Colorado to break down the first 48 hours of the first Nation Vacation of the year. To kick things off, they talked about the Oilers three-game winning streak and what's been propelling the team to victory. Vasiliy Podkolzin, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and the goaltending all got some love. From there, they got into what everyone's been up to over the last few days as they took over the Mile High city. From the bus ride to the game to watching as a group as the Oilers got a big victory in Utah, it's been a great first few days and there was a lot for the boys to talk about.
Thursday afternoon means a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast is here to wrap up your week and help you navigate this crazy little thing called life. Unsurprisingly, the Thursday episode of the podcast was all over the map, with no single topic lasting for more than a few minutes. The guys started the Thursday episode of the podcast by discussing the new studio at Nation HQ and how Wanye is torn about converting one of the rooms into another studio. After spending a minute talking about the new studio, the conversation turned to the Nation Citizens Christmas party at Dogpatch on December 12th. With limited space available, you'll want to reserve a spot early. As you'll hear, the conversation didn't stay on track for long, as Tyler was very distracted by the bets he put down for the Lions vs. Bears game. That also led the guys to get distracted by Yaremchuk's betting sheet after he decided to write down everything he had on a loose-leaf piece of paper. Needless to say, our man puts the work in when it comes to football. Changing gears, the guys spent some time talking about tomorrow's Nation Vacation to Denver and how the logistics leading up to the trip have been hilarious. As you'll hear, the staff from Nation HQ has all kinds of interesting travel quirks, and organizing trips like this brings out the hilarity for everyone involved. Finally, the boys wrapped up the Thursday episode of the podcast with a random collection of topics, including a look at the streamer world, cryptocurrency, and how it's fun for Canadians to mail it in on American Thanksgiving even though it's only Thursday up here. Sure, your boss may expect you to work today, but the reality is that no one is doing much of anything.
