On this episode of That Don't Sound Right, hosts Peter and Cecil dive headfirst into the surprisingly complicated world of haircuts. What should be a simple trim turns into a maze of unwritten rules, awkward small talk, tipping confusion, and the lingering fear of a bad cut. The guys swap childhood barbershop memories, including dads who doubled as family barbers, and compare those old-school experiences to today's modern salon systems like Great Clips. Along the way they unpack barbershop etiquette, how to choose a stylist, whether you should stay loyal to one barber, and what to do when the haircut goes… very wrong. From clippers in the kitchen to algorithm-driven check-ins at chain salons, Peter and Cecil explore the little rituals and social rules that make getting a haircut far more complicated than it ought to be. Because somehow… a simple haircut never seems simple. The Royals have done something nobody saw coming. They are hitting, winning and suddenly we have to look at them differently after winning 4 in a row and 6 out of 7. Because they surged to a playoff series win last year AND they want to build a new stadium... I'm guessing the Royals are about to be buyers in the trade market. At Big 12 media days, KU Athletic Director Travis Goff talks about their new football stadium opening August 23 and in doing so promises something historic around the corner. Goff says the next announcement in fundraising has never been done in college athletics history. We are all ears. Gymnast and social media influencer Livvy Dunne thought she had a New York apartment purchased with boyfriend pitcher for the Pirates Paul Skenes. Then the owners pulled the offer. She posted a video about it and seemed really hurt because that apartment was Babe Ruth's home in 1929. The Secret Service has suspended six agents involved at the Trump shooting in Pennsylvania one year ago. Job gains for Americans are in the millions as those for non-Americans falling off a cliff. Chief of Staff Susie Wiles does a rare interview talking about what happened between Mr. Trump and Elon Musk. And homeowners and those who want to be homeowners are about to get some breaks. Our Final Final is quarterback Kirk Cousins with a nifty little hack at Great Clips.
The Yankees finally moved Jazz Chisholm to second and DFA'd DJ LeMahieu. C-Mac said it feels like a cleansing period after 3 weeks of a disaster. The Yankees still need to add bullpen arms according to C-Mac. We also talked about the Mets as they get ready for a double header today against the Orioles. C-Lo returned for his final update of the day and started with the Yankees win over the Mariners as Jazz hit two homers. Brian Cashman said he's not counting Anthony Volpe out and still expects big things from him this season. Cashman also talked about the need for relievers and a third baseman. We heard a clip from the Netflix series, ‘Quarterback', involving a furious Joe Burrow during a game. Kirk Cousins goes to ‘Great Clips' for his haircuts. Deion Sanders won't give us any information on his health condition. We heard from Mike Brown as he seems to like to reference the dating lives of players. The Moment of The Day: WFAN needs a text line. In the final segment of the show, Jerry quizzes Al to see how much he knows about C-Mac. He ended up working at WFAN because he ran into Monzo and Marc Malusis in Las Vegas.
Happy Wednesday! It's Man and Timmy today. We begin the show with how expensive our electric bills are this time of year. NCAA Tournament expansion is coming, and Timmy doesn't like it. We talk about The Big Dumper Cal Raleigh. We celebrate Tom Hanks' 69th birthday ranking his best movies. Kirk Cousins loves Great Clips, and we do Name Dropping with Jeff Rimer.
Send us a textAdd this episode to your Helpful file. Have you been in rooms like David uncomfortably endured in a recent Great Clips experience? His skilled hair-stylist lacked read-the-room-awareness or a voice that didn't make his skin crawl. Intervention was needed. So we unpacked it. And we probed how new grandpa David's son gently corrected his clumsy baby-holding skills. Intervention well done.
This week's episode kicks off with a downhill fast story that involves a small mishap with the baby. It should be said that no baby was hurt, and really a baby was only startled. Poor Rheannon lost track of who all was in the bed, and perhaps mistook a baby in a bouncer for a cat. Tamara tagged along when her brother and niece were getting hair cuts at Great Clips. It maybe wasn't a great hair cut, but it was worth the $20. Tamara and Rheannon like the tv show The Last of Us for different reasons, but they agree that it is filmed beautifully. Tamara makes a birthday suggestion of having mustaches to go along with the cowboy hats. The mustaches reminded Tamara about a time that she went white water rafting, and much like this episode it goes downhill fast.

On this episode, I have the absolute pleasure of sitting down with two incredible brothers—Pat and Robert McLaughlin. These guys are the real deal. Not only are they heart-driven leaders making a huge impact in their respective fields, but they recently joined us in Orlando at our Day of Development and Jon Gordon Certified events, dove right in, and became Jon Gordon Certified Trainers! Pat McLaughlin is a serial entrepreneur, chiropractor, business owner, and author. He's run everything from chiropractic practices to hair salons (yes, you read that right), and his latest passion project is writing and speaking on the power of being present. Robert McLaughlin brings nearly three decades of experience at Chick-fil-A, where he leads with positivity as the head of their Support team, championing a drum-banging culture of recognition and continuous improvement. In our conversation, we dig into what makes these brothers tick—their shared values, powerful family bonds, and personal journeys through both triumph and tragedy. We talk about leadership lessons from the sports field and the importance of investing in yourself so you can invest more in others. The McLaughlin brothers open up about their commitment to positive leadership and how they're using their certification to pour into organizations, schools, and communities. Give it a listen and get ready to bang the drum (you'll see what I mean)! About Robert, Robert McLaughlin serves as Executive Director of Support Now for Chick-fil-A, where he leads a 294-person team dedicated to supporting restaurant operators, team members, and customers nationwide. Since joining the company in 1998, he's worn many hats—from Field Marketing Consultant to leading major sponsorships like the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, to shaping national brand strategy and new restaurant marketing. A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with an MBA from Notre Dame, Robert brings both business acumen and heart to everything he does. Beyond the boardroom, he's a three-time Ironman triathlete, motivational speaker, proud husband of his high school sweetheart, Holly, and devoted girl dad to two daughters. In this episode, he shares leadership insights, stories from his journey, and what it takes to lead with purpose at one of America's most beloved brands. About Pat, Dr. Patrick (Pat) McLaughlin is a seasoned chiropractor, entrepreneur, author, and speaker on a mission to help people align their lives and become the best version of themselves. Since opening his first practice in 1991, he's launched seven chiropractic offices and currently runs two successful practices in eastern North Carolina. But his passion for impact doesn't stop there—he's also built businesses with Great Clips, Duck Donuts, StayDry Med Centers, and Shape Med Centers, once owning 50 Great Clips salons and ranking among the top franchisees in North America. A lifelong learner and avid reader, Pat is now focused on writing and speaking to empower others. He's the author of The Bear Facts of Life and the upcoming The Power of Being Present, and serves as a guest lecturer for UNC Chapel Hill's entrepreneurship program. In this episode, he shares practical wisdom on leadership, personal growth, and what it means to truly live in alignment. Pat has been married to his wife, Maria, since 1995 and is a proud father of four. When he's not coaching others, he's likely spending time with his three dogs, on the golf course, or enjoying live music and sports.
