James is a champion for conscious leadership and walking each day of adult life with our younger selves. Being a leader for momentum and growth is something that has come natural to him. With over two decades of hands-on experience in personal and business growth, he is motivated to help people face their challenges, uncover their truth, and reconnect to the wonder of youth so they can truly live the life of their dreams, by design. With a background formed in the arena of rowing, James competed for nearly twenty years as a high performance rower and coach in both the USA and Canada. At a young age he entered the US National Development System and won a highly coveted Gold Medal at the 1991 US Olympic Festival. Resurfacing years later as a masters athlete and coach, James has put the cap on a career that accumulated over 100 top three finishes throughout North America. His highly developed motivational and leadership skills forged in his early rowing days accompanied his creative side as he took to the acting stages of New York City and Los Angeles while in the entertainment industry. It is here in this arena that James was privileged enough to bring many characters to life on stage and screen and learn how to command an audience. During his fourteen year tenure, James immersed himself into various aspects of production and post-production, helming many of his own scripted and directed offerings. The business stage called as well and James soon found himself helping to orchestrate the development of exclusive hospitality properties on both coasts as well as in Vancouver, Canada. His strength lay in his ability to foster an environment that promoted team unity for growth, whether overseeing a team of twelve or two hundred and fifty, that never changed for James. Understanding the power that lies in a “team dynamic” and consciously leading others towards a common objective was a key part to his success. His deeply enriched life tapestry furthered him to speak, motivate, and inspire those before him via the stage, podcasts and as the host of “The Inspirational 30”; a television show where he had the privilege of sitting down with inspirational guests from all walks of life to share their unique and inspiring roads to authenticity. The show and its 23 episodes played in re-run style fashion all over Vancouver and even into other large markets of Canada on Shaw TV. Most recently James has embarked on traveling and speaking about his powerful new memoir, ALL IN WITH LOVE: my journey to the hero within. This book chronicles his amazing life experiences and accomplishments as well as showcases how he turned poor choices and failure into a recipe for personal growth. But above all it is a story of reconnection. Of getting back to the wonder and curiosity of the inner child and living life to its glorious potential. Beautifully and compellingly written, his story telling is not only entertaining its readers but also providing them with deep introspective questions and thoughts about life and their younger selves. This week's Leadership Tidbits with Coach Tee Wilson features Tiffani Wills, a powerful leadership authority who has enormous strengths in motivational speaking, building exceptional leaders, and empowering others to perform at their highest levels. Through this interview, Tiffani shares with us how she transformed herself to become a dandelion and how we can become one too. Before we begin the transformation process, here is some of the information you need to know about the beautiful spirit that is Tiffani Wills. Tiffani holds a Bachelor of Arts in organizational communications from Wright State University, a Master of Education in Monastery Education from Xavier University, as well as an MBA from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. Tiffani is a mother, an instructional leader, a graduate of the BRIGHT New leaders for Ohio program, a former NCAA Division I women's soccer standout, a three-year captain, and a US Olympic Festival team alternate prior to her work as an instructional leader. Tiffani was the youngest individual and only female in company history to be charged with leading the adhesive division responsible for meeting the needs of four fortune 100 companies. In addition, she was also charged with creating and implementing the company's first supplier diversity initiative. Tiffani has taught first, second, and third grade students at a title one neighborhood Montessori School and the Cincinnati public school district, and currently holds a valid Ohio K-12 Professional Administrators license, a Professional K-3 teaching license w/TESOL endorsement, and an American Montessori Society Elementary I credential. Through this interview Tiffani Wills educated us on what it means to become a dandelion by stating, “In essence I learned how to be a dandelion, and that's something that's near and dear to me. You may ask... Why do I say dandelion? It is because dandelions they just don't go away, and I would not go away I kept coming back and learning more.” She also explained that the dandelion pops up in lawns whether you want them or not. They're among the most familiar plants with unmistakable characteristics that everyone knows. An important takeaway from this lesson of becoming a dandelion in life and in your individual fields is this statement from Tiffani when she noted, “Every part of the dandelion is useful so I've used that for myself. And making myself indispensable, making myself familiar with other things and building on those to make it so that that I would have to be indispensable and moving forward.” Overall, here are some leadership tidbits to take away from Tiffani Wills: Know your why, building relationships is priceless, be a lifelong learner, the importance of self-care, form relationships outside of your comfort zone, and remember the importance of getting back to the basics.Check out the full podcast to hear more of Tiffani Will’s thoughts!!To connect with Tiffani visit:Booking Inquiry: tiffani@rusticurbanlife.comWebsite: www.rusticurbanlife.comInstagram: rustic_urbanlife

My guest today is my friend Ralph Reiff, Executive Director of St. Vincent Sports Performance. Ralph started his sports medicine career as athletic trainer for Butler University where he managed the athlete health care, weight room and equipment for all sports. He also developed the athletic trainer curriculum at Butler. During his tenure at Butler he was selected to provide sports medicine to many national and international sporting events and professional athletes. Ralph has managed the medical aspects of more than 20 NCAA events, including three Men’s Final Four Basketball Championships; the 1988 and 1996 US Track & Field Olympic Trials; 2003 World Basketball Championships; medical director for the 2004 FINA Swimming World Championships; and the 2006 USA Track Outdoor Championships. In this conversation Ralph not only tells his story, but also provides insights into what it’s like for an athlete to prepare for the NFL draft, and even some tips for coaches and other sports professionals regarding what they can do to stay at the top of their game. I guess I had a chip on my shoulder. I never wanted critics to be right about me. When I asked Ralph Reiff how he’s been able to be so successful as a sports medicine professional he said that he’s always felt that he was blessed with a stubborn gene from somebody back in his family history. He’s always had a chip on his shoulder – in a good way – not wanting anyone who says he can’t do something to be right in the end. That desire has motivated him to work harder than most of his contemporaries and build a career that has fueled the success of professional athletes and Olympic teams alike. You can hear how Ralph harnessed his determination to create his own success, on this episode of Beyond The Whistle. Worldwide experience in a sports medicine career that started from humble beginnings. In 1996, Ralph Reiff was manager of Athlete Care for the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta. This selection took Ralph to Atlanta for 18 months of planning, implementation, and management of all medical and performance operations for the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games. But that wasn’t his first involvement with the Olympic games. He was selected by the United States Olympic Committee for the 1987 US Olympic Festival, numerous USA Basketball team selection events and was Head Athletic Trainer for the Gold Medal winning USA Basketball Team at the 1989 World University Games in Germany. But even that isn’t where he started. He began as a fresh graduate from college, stepping into an ailing sports program at the now-famous Butler University. I can’t help but believe that the part he played at Butler was instrumental to the dramatic turn-around of the program. The business of sports is one of Ralph Reiff’s strengths. He’s proven it over and over. Often, sports professionals find the business side of sports to be challenging. Their passion and training is in performing, leading teams, or providing care of athletes. Ralph Reiff is no stranger to the management and business side of sports, having served in organizational and management capacities for sporting events as large as the Olympic games. On this episode, Ralph generously shares his insights into the challenges of the business side of sports so that you can make the right decisions in your career. Working alongside the Indiana Pacers is one of Ralph’s crowning achievements. You may have heard the news: The Indiana Pacers are building a brand new practice facility that will house their general offices and also include a state of the art sports medicine facility and sports psychology lab – and they’ve tapped Ralph Reiff and the team at St. Vincent Sports Performance to run both. On this episode of Beyond the Whistle, I asked Ralph how that partnership came about, how the project is going, and what expects to experience once the facility is finished and the partnership begins. It’s a fascinating conversation that I hope you take the time to listen to. Outline of This Episode [0:14] My introduction of Ralph Reiff, Executive Director of St. Vincent’s Sports Performance. [3:20] Ralph’s amazing journey from college to his current position. [7:57] Butler University as an example of values-based sports doing well.
