In the second episode of this two-part podcast, Dr Enys Delmage and Dr James Gardiner continue their exploration of the importance of effective, proactive multi-agency collaboration in adolescent forensic mental health settings. They speak to Graeme Penty, Lindsay Yeo, and Kingi Snelgar, who share their experiences working with young people across diverse environments and discuss best practices for providing effective support. This series introduces key topics that will be explored in greater detail at the upcoming RANZCP Section of Child and Adolescent Forensic Psychiatry Conference held in March 2025, Wellington. This podcast will be valuable for professionals working in adolescent forensic settings or those involved with children in the justice system. Graeme Penty works with young people at Nga Taiohi National Youth Forensic Unit. He trained as a primary school teacher at Otago University and Dunedin College of Education, graduating in 1995 and registered in 1997. Graeme has taught in a wide range of schools since then and specialised in year 7 and 8 until starting work in 2017 with Health school. Graeme is passionate about re-engaging Rangitahi back into education, who may have been out of this for some time and helping with transition, information and feedback for Clinical teams and contributing to an overall outcome. Lindsay Yeo is an educational psychologist currently serving on the leadership team at Te Au rere a te Tonga Youth Justice Facility in Palmerston North, New Zealand. Drawing on his experience working in the Severe Behaviour Service at the Ministry of Education, Lindsay brings expertise in providing consultation, training, leadership and supervision to staff at the facility, which accommodates up to 40 young people aged 14 to 18 with complex needs, including high levels of offending. Lindsay is also involved in the collaborative development and implementation of services within the youth justice sector. He is committed to enhancing the quality of assessment and intervention for this high-needs group of rangatahi. Kingi Snelgar is a criminal defence lawyer, youth advocate and academic based in Auckland, New Zealand. With 12 years of experience in the legal profession, he is a graduate of Harvard Law and a Fulbright scholar. Kingi is deeply passionate about criminal justice reform, particularly in the areas of youth justice and the prevention of young Māori and Pacific Islanders from entering the “pipeline” that often leads to a lifetime of offending and incarceration. He has whakapapa to Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Whakaue, Te Whakatohea, and Ngāi Tahu, with knowledge and understanding of tikanga Māori and te ao Māori. This two-episode podcast examines the importance of effective, proactive multi-agency collaboration in adolescent forensic mental health settings. In this discussion, Dr James Gardiner and Dr Enys Delmage cover common presentations and highlight best practices across various environments, including inpatient services, community-based care and in-reach programs to youth justice residences (secure units operated by Oranga Tamariki, where some children remanded by the Youth or High Courts may be placed). Dr James Gardiner is a forensic psychiatrist working at Tū Māia, formerly known as Regional Youth Forensic Services in Auckland. Most of his work involves delivering in-reach mental health care to the two youth justice residences in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. James has worked as an in-reach psychiatrist in various correctional settings for around 20 years, with the last 10 years working with young people. Dr Enys Delmage is an adolescent forensic psychiatrist working at Ngā Taiohi, a secure inpatient service for young people in Porirua, Wellington. With a specific interest in the interface between mental health and the law in relation to young people, his research primarily explores the international landscape of the minimum age of criminal responsibility. Wir schreiben Sonntag, den 21. Juni 1931. James is a champion for conscious leadership and walking each day of adult life with our younger selves. Being a leader for momentum and growth is something that has come natural to him. With over two decades of hands-on experience in personal and business growth, he is motivated to help people face their challenges, uncover their truth, and reconnect to the wonder of youth so they can truly live the life of their dreams, by design. With a background formed in the arena of rowing, James competed for nearly twenty years as a high performance rower and coach in both the USA and Canada. At a young age he entered the US National Development System and won a highly coveted Gold Medal at the 1991 US Olympic Festival. Resurfacing years later as a masters athlete and coach, James has put the cap on a career that accumulated over 100 top three finishes throughout North America. His highly developed motivational and leadership skills forged in his early rowing days accompanied his creative side as he took to the acting stages of New York City and Los Angeles while in the entertainment industry. It is here in this arena that James was privileged enough to bring many characters to life on stage and screen and learn how to command an audience. During his fourteen year tenure, James immersed himself into various aspects of production and post-production, helming many of his own scripted and directed offerings. The business stage called as well and James soon found himself helping to orchestrate the development of exclusive hospitality properties on both coasts as well as in Vancouver, Canada. His strength lay in his ability to foster an environment that promoted team unity for growth, whether overseeing a team of twelve or two hundred and fifty, that never changed for James. Understanding the power that lies in a “team dynamic” and consciously leading others towards a common objective was a key part to his success. His deeply enriched life tapestry furthered him to speak, motivate, and inspire those before him via the stage, podcasts and as the host of “The Inspirational 30”; a television show where he had the privilege of sitting down with inspirational guests from all walks of life to share their unique and inspiring roads to authenticity. The show and its 23 episodes played in re-run style fashion all over Vancouver and even into other large markets of Canada on Shaw TV. Most recently James has embarked on traveling and speaking about his powerful new memoir, ALL IN WITH LOVE: my journey to the hero within. This book chronicles his amazing life experiences and accomplishments as well as showcases how he turned poor choices and failure into a recipe for personal growth. But above all it is a story of reconnection. Of getting back to the wonder and curiosity of the inner child and living life to its glorious potential. Beautifully and compellingly written, his story telling is not only entertaining its readers but also providing them with deep introspective questions and thoughts about life and their younger selves. Welcome back to the Scale Your Small Business Podcast with your host, Jillian Flodstrom! Returning to the show today is James Gardiner, he's a high-performance Olympic rowing athlete, high-performance coach, and author of the powerful new book ALL IN WITH LOVE: my journey to the hero within. In his book, he chronicles how he turned bad choices into a recipe for personal growth. The inception of James' book came from a creative spirit that needed to get out. Admittedly, he's lived a colorful, interesting life with plenty of successes and just as many pitfalls. During the writing of his book, he was sharing his process with his community via social media. In doing that, he found that his community was growing with him, and was getting many new clients from his posts. Because he had so much visibility, he decided to fund the book's publishing through crowdfunding on IndieGoGo, which allowed his audience to help support the work he was doing. He was able to share his campaign through his regimented social media schedule–it wasn't the same content going out on every platform every day. The posts James was making were intentional. They were consistent. And they were full of energy. The key was personally reaching out to each and every individual who supported the book through his crowdfunding campaign. No templated responses, either. It took a lot of work, but the proof is in the pudding. In his crowdfunding campaign, he gave donors five different options so they could choose the level at which they wanted to support. It included a signed copy, hardcover, coaching sessions, and big-ticket items like speaking events. For those who didn't find the book through the campaign, James' publisher helped get the book into different locations for folks to purchase: Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kindle, etc. In addition, James utilized his marketing knowledge and simply rinse and repeated what he had already been doing: sharing stories. Planning was an essential part of the process. He used spreadsheets outlining posts when they'd go out, where, and what they'd say. He had a two-week build-up to a six-week campaign. But the beauty of the planning was, that once he began to implement the process, he reached a flow-state where he always knew what was going out and when. Key Takeaways Crowdfunding a book is a creative way to build a community, gain clients, and fund your story. Consider going the extra mile and personally reaching out to those who support you. Planning is an essential part of the process. Once you have everything in place, you'll reach a flow-state where everything comes naturally. ON UNITY ‘Unity consciousness has evolved for me in the two years that I've known you and I know for sure it's James being connected to Little Jimmy. It's about us being deeply connected to our inner child. Most of us get that we are all connected. I think that self-actualization truly lies in the connection or reconnection with our younger self.' ON WEALTH ‘Wealth is an all-encompassing state of being that is financial, mental, spiritual, and physical. Being wealthy is also the ability to honor your creative passion, whatever passion that may be, and doing it in a way that you're willing to stand before the fire, whatever that fire may be because you've done the work and you take complete ownership over your own life.' JAMES'S DREAM FOR THE WORLD ‘I dream of a big fucking playground where we are all in our elements, swinging away, jumping around, having fun, and living with a curious glance in the eye, with the sweet air of possibility blowing in.' The Section of Child and Adolescent Forensic Psychiatry is comprised of a small group of psychiatrists from around Australia and New Zealand. It is an active section that hosts the only annual Youth Forensic conference worldwide. In this podcast, members of the binational committee for Child and Adolescent Youth Forensic Psychiatry discuss violence in Youth. Their discussions will include the historical context in which rates of violence currently exist, the link between violence and various mental health, personality and neurodevelopmental diagnostic groups, and some specific violence interventions being developed in Melbourne. They also talk about assessing risk of violence and the tools that they sometimes use to assess risk and target areas for intervention. 'We know that the one common denominator that we all have as adults is that we were all children once, and we all had that ability to create our own masterpiece every day. I think that's the hero within, and we would all be better human beings, better fathers, better loves, partners, business associates, if we would all honor and connect, or reconnect in my case, to that child. That child is purity. That's truth, and we're not living on anyone else's terms, we're living on our own terms. That's a powerful thing. At the end of the day, it's as simple as a little child begging the adult not to give up on a dream.' ~ James Gardiner To learn more about James Gardiner, and his work visit https://theherowithin.ca/

In this episode, we talk About living your ultimate life from the perspective of what fills your cup. Truth is such a critical factor in being happy. There is so much false stuff in the world about what makes us happy. When we were children we had the ability to create dreams by following our internal guide. Our real spark inside is to strip away all the externalities. Who are we really without all this external noise? It is really possible to live a life of truth, prosperity, and joy. We lived like that naturally younger, and when we step through the door of adulthood we accept all the judgments about what everything means. Learning to accept the innate sense of wonder and joy is a key to really living life.Connect with Kellan on social media at: Facebook: www.facebook.com/kellan.fluckiger3YouTube: www.youtube.com/c/ultimatelifeformulaInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/kellan.fluckiger/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kellanfluckigerTwitter: https://twitter.com/kellanfluckiger You can find out more about Kellan and how he can help you achieve your ultimate life by checking out his website: https://www.kellanfluckiger.com/Subscribe to the podcast at:Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/your-ultimate-life-with-kellan-fluckiger/id1505919748Amazon music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/search/your%20ultimate%20life%20with%20kellan%20fluckigerSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6IXjYZo38go7Pv5ElanVv4Simplecast: https://your-ultimate-life-by-kellan-fluckiger.simplecast.com/Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5zaW1wbGVjYXN0LmNvbS84YVZ1VlVkQw==Stitcher: *https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/your-ultimate-life-with-kellan-fluckiger?refid=stpriHeart: *https://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-your-ultimate-life-with-ke-61503928/Deezer: *https://www.deezer.com/us/show/1028862RadioPublic: https://radiopublic.com/your-ultimate-life-with-kellan-fl-G3AMY2

Pajama Studios opened its doors on April 1st 1993. A typical April Fools day, although these folks are no fools. It started with the vision of two-time Grammy nominated composer, arranger, producer and engineer James Gardiner, and his business partner, producer and director Paula Telander. Both greeted us on their world-class recording facility to talk in depth about the legendary performers that have walked their platinum and gold-disc hallway—from Beyoncé to En Vogue and 2pac—, how they help make a difference in what's played on the radio and on streaming services, and how they're developing the new faces of pop music.More on Pajama Studios and Gardiner Music Mentoring:Website: http://www.gardinermusicmentoring.com/Show Tracklisting:Eclipse (LifeLine - James Gardiner original composition featuring Kenny G on flute)Songbird (Kenny G)No, No, No Part 2 (Destiny's Child)Hold On (En Vogue)Host and Producer: Diego MartinezExecutive Producer: Nicholas "NickFresh" PuzoAudio Engineer: Adam Fogel Special Thanks to Marcel Caldera IIIFollow us on social media: @choonspod

This past weekend I had the pleasure to attend the Realign | Reconnect retreat hosted by James Gardiner (@firstar.therapy). James was a guest on the podcast in episode 13 and I also was a guest on his show, FIRSTAR Let's chAT in Session 81.It was an incredible weekend that I needed to check in with myself and become more of me. I tried to organize my thoughts into 5 main lessons to share through the podcast. In short they are: The power of guilt can help you lean into your strengthsPhysical distraction and finding the signal through the noiseStillness is powerfulThere are answers in the darknessThere is more OF you than you thinkI learned a ton and this weekend was extremely helpful for me. So I figured it only right to share what I took away from it in hopes that it also helps you. If you're not tuned in to what James is doing, you're missing out. Because what he's doing is helping you find more of YOU. You can get in contact on IG or through his website and podcast. I would greatly appreciate any comments, questions or feedback. If you could share this with a friend, that would mean the world to me. If you enjoy this podcast, I would be extremely grateful if you subscribed and left a short review on iTunes. James Gardiner (@firstar.therapy, https://firstartherapy.com/) is an athletic therapist by trade but really so much more than that. He's worked with athletes at the highest level across many sports and organizations and has also been able to connect the dots through yoga, breathwork, mindfulness, intentful movement and all the things that make us human.James went searching for more in the Bahamas and came back with a refreshed view of athletic therapy, training and life overall and has applied these new lessons to FIRSTAR Therapy which "is a philosophy and approach to sport performance, training and rehabilitation that places emphasis on education and empowerment of the athlete."I had the pleasure of taking James' Recalibration Workshops earlier this year and it was a game changer for me in beginning to understand breathwork on a deeper level, and by association understanding myself. Whenever you're listening to this, the beginner and advanced courses will be starting again soon, and you can find out more information here.James will also be speaking at the State of Mind Festival which is a mental health innovation festival, and you can learn more about that here.He also is the host of FIRSTAR Let's chAT: an athletic therapy roundtable podcast where James has excellent discussion with therapists, coaches, doctors and many exciting people on all things human performance. You can find it wherever your find podcasts or here, Apple, Spotify, Google Podcasts. The third but certainly not last exciting project is the Performance Wellness Platform in partnership with MindframeFit which is a program where the goal is "to enable, empower, and enhance each athlete's well-being on and off the field of play through a focus on intentful movement and mindful practices." This is one I'm really excited about, and you can learn more here.James is a really wonderful human, I hope you enjoy this and find as much value in this conversation as I did. I'm super excited to show off this guest for a few reasons. First of all, this person is a heart-centred personal and business development coach. This person also has a background in athletics and hospitality and resort management, is a motivational speaker and they've also hosted their own TV show, which I'm sure we'll talk about shortly. But most excitingly, this person is our very first dude on the show. In this episode of The Recovering Perfectionist podcast, I chat with James Gardiner - the VERY FIRST dude interviewee on the show! We talk about James focuses his coaching on understanding personality, brand DNA, how to create a strategy and implement said strategy, and positioning. He sees over and over again that if there's a misalignment between a person's truth and how they're showing up, it will manifest itself in business guaranteed! Some core ideas we discuss: •The importance of having boundaries and showing up authentically and being honest about what you want and how you want to live and who you do and don't work with. •You have to roll up your sleeves and do the deep work, right? You need to get in the trenches, and it's to get to really unpack the truth to get to your real truth. And in business or in or in life. You have to roll up your sleeves and dive in. You know. And the reward is magic. Yes, it's brilliant when you get it •Everything is a work in progress? It's not like, 'ok we've done that work now we can move on with the rest of our life and never talk about it again". •The middle lane analogy: And so that middle lane will always evolve as we evolve. And what we need to do is just adjust the scope of the lane as we move forward in life. And as we attract new business associates or venture out or go into relationships, you know, it ultimately has to serve us. •Once we get crystal clear on on what it is we want the 'how' will become clear too •Practicing failure on whatever scale you can. Learning that you can ask for something and be rejected...and no one's going to die. And it's going to be okay. •The idea about being magnetic, which means you're also going to be repellent. And the more repellent you are to certain people, the more attractive you are, to the right people - whether it's friends, relationships, business, network, clients - but it's really scary to take that first step to be, you know, not all things to all people. •There's a lot of males out there that are in this kind of purgatory - they want to be more emotionally accessible and they walk that fine line between the bro club and having really heartfelt discussions or being vulnerable •Showing up as the TRUE YOU in whatever situation (whether in an interview, whether on stage, whether in a Starbucks, or at the gym, having a beer with a friend etc.) •Being a conscious warrior - going all in with •The difference between being a 'recovering perfectionist' and being amazing at what you do •External validation and how to stop seeking it James shares awesome resources, tips and videos on his Facebook page facebook.com/canordinaryinspire
