Dianne McDonald was stalked by a man who drove her friend to suicide. After she ended a short relationship she found out her ex secretly made a duplicate set of her house keys, installed a location tracker on her phone, and followed her. His stalking continued for years as he posted demeaning flyers about Dianne around town, and vandalized her car and house. He turned his attention to Dianne’s best friend and stalked her so relentlessly that she took her own life. Then Dianne’s stalker blamed Dianne for her own friend's death and told her she had “blood on her hands.” Dianne took heroic steps to bring her stalker to justice and is now working with Victorian magistrates to impose electronic monitoring for all convicted stalkers. CES is happening this week, but in the first-ever virtual format, so everyone is figuring out to do what we used to do in person. NextBase was our first stop for an informal conversation with Jeff Chuh, VP of Marketing, about what their focus has been, and an overview of their top-of-the-line dash cam, which includes the ability to be expanded to a front- and rear-view camera, Alexa compatibility, and why that is important.  Today's MacVoices is supported by Audible and their newest option, AudiblePlus, that gives you access to thousands of titles in the audiobook, podcast, and Audible Originals libraries. Dharmesh is a software engineer, and he is originally from India. His family moved to the US in 1992, and Dharmesh shares that this was when he began to gain weight. In India, he was very active. But after moving, he "lost all of his friends, and lost all of his activity." He found himself turning to food for comfort. Dharmesh remembers that he "fell in love with Doritos." When his weight climbed to 300 pounds in 1998, he decided to do something about it. This began many years of yo-yo dieting for Dharmesh. He followed extreme calorie restriction and exercised. He took diet pills and tried low carb, and eventually lost 50 pounds. But whenever he stopped restricting calories or exercising, the weight would pile back on.By 2018, Dharmesh gave up, deciding he would be 300 pounds for the rest of his life. He shares: "I invested in being this size," and bought all new clothes that fit. At this point, he was wearing a size 44 pants. In July of 2019, Dharmesh came across intermittent fasting through an app on his phone. He researched everything that he could about IF, and started with 16:8. The weight fell off quickly! He easily transitioned to 18:6, then 20:4. He currently follows 22:2. Dharmesh has lost 90 pounds and is now wearing a size 34 pants. The Delay, Don't Deny facebook group has been a huge support in his IF journey. The advice Dharmesh would give to new IFers: "Take a lot of pictures. IF is not a wagon, it's a path. Don't punish yourself. It is day to day. Deciding to change your life is the hardest decision you'll make, and you've already won!"Get Gin’s books, including her latest New York Times Bestseller, Fast. Feast. Intermittent Fasting Stories

In this episode of Intermittent Fasting Stories, Gin talks to Dr. Rob Jones of the Utah Wellness Institute. Dr. Jones is a functional endocrinologist who has used intermittent fasting with over 500 patients and counting. This episode is brought to you by Audible: Audible is the leading provider of spoken-word entertainment and audiobooks, ranging from best sellers, to celebrity memoirs, news, business, and self-development. Visit Audible.com/ifstories or text ifstories to 500-500 to get started with a free trial. Even better, choose Fast Feast Repeat or Delay, Don’t Deny for your first free listen as a new member! Dr. Jones specializes in Functional Endocrinology. He learned about IF six years ago after two of his patients, who he had not seen in a year, both mentioned that they had been practicing intermittent fasting. They each had great success with both weight loss and other health benefits. This was when he began to study IF, the history of it, the science behind it, and how it relates to his field of endocrinology. He began to work with a few patients to see how they would respond to IF, and he now currently has over 500 patients who are intermittent fasters Dr. Jones shares that high insulin affects the whole body. He refers to it as similar to the process of rusting, and the entire body becomes inflamed. He explains that high insulin also affects the brain, arteries, heart, kidney and liver. IF reduces inflammation and lowers insulin. He has his patients fast to reduce insulin.Dr. Jones wrote a book called I Am More Than Enough, based on his experience with women for more than 20 years. He noticed a common thread of how hard they were on themselves, and how this can lead to stereotypes they may have of themselves. His book was intended to be used as a tool to help women have better self image.Connect with Dr. Jones at: utahwellnessinstitute.comGet Gin’s books, including her latest New York Times Bestseller, Fast.
