This week, in New Britain, Connecticut, what starts out as a missing woman, who police assmue was killed by her dirtbag boyfriend, turns into a massive investigation, that has nothing to do with that boyfriend. They uncover seven bodies, and they are linked to a man, who lives in his van, which he calls "the murder mobile". He eventually tells all his sick secrets, incling how he planted "seeds" in his "murder garden"!! Along the way, we find out that when crime is up, just rename a street "Little Poland", that if you don't want to be considered a serial killer, you probably shouldn't give yourself a killer's nickname, and that no matter how many times you say you don't like murder, if you kill 7 people, you like murder!! Join our Patreon family for exclusive bonus content, access to BTS, a private group chat, merch discounts, and to guest co-host with Investigator Slater! www.Patreon.com/PsychopediaPod Inspired by Gary Ridgway and Ted Bundy, serial killer Joel Rifin modeled his victimology and body disposable methods like a grotesque homage: limbs in cement, heads in paint cans, bodies dumped with calculated precision. For four years in the late 1980s/early 90s, while living with his mother in the heart of suburban Long Island, NY, Joel Rifkin hunted women on the margins. Joel, a bullied outcast with a high IQ and a severely damaged frontal lobe, didn't explode overnight. He eroded. First came the fantasies. Then came the reality of 17 victims whom he strangled and dismembered with an X-Acto knife. Joel blended in — just another quiet man with a sedan, a part time job, and a taste for sadism. This wasn't some obvious "monster" lurking in the shadows. This was a depraved serial killer next door, hiding in plain sight, mowing the same lawns your kids play on. This week, we continue this murderous tale, with our killer, continuing his reign of terror. He's very busy, murdering a friend of his, who had rejected his previous advances. Why? Because no one showed up to his party. He also hits the road, robbing, raping, and killing his way up & down the highway. Police catch a huge break, and they start to keep an eye on Randy, sitting outside his house. Will they close in, before he's able to kill even more, or destroy any more evidence?? Throw a Valentine's Day party, and get murderously when no one shows up, be very upset when police take your athletic tape, during a search, and cower inside your house, burning evidence, while police cars watch, from the outside with Randall "The I-5 Killer" Woodfield - Part 4!! In the 1970s, two young girls were found dead in an underpass. Seven months later, the body of a young woman was discovered in a ditch. And… just months after that, a fourth woman was found strangled to death. Their cases went cold. On the season finale of Crime Beat, Nancy Hixt, a Senior Crime Reporter for Global News, brings you a special three-part series in which she'll share the haunting details of these cases and introduce you to the detectives that used cutting-edge techniques to break the cases wide open nearly 50 years later. For the first time, in exclusive interviews, the killers' own family is speaking out. Could this serial killer be responsible for other unsolved murders? In this gripping episode of Dark Outdoors, we uncover a chilling and ongoing mystery unfolding across Texas and beyond—where horses are being found shot, mutilated, or poisoned in a string of brutal and unexplained attacks. From Kendall and Waller Counties to Bexar and Smith, horses are being executed in pastures, dumped in brush, or even tied up and shot in the head. Authorities have few leads—and the killers remain free. We examine whether these killings are tied to the illegal horse meat trade, part of a ritualistic pattern, or the work of thrill killers. And we expand our search beyond Texas—to Nevada—where a serial horse killer is targeting ranch animals near Las Vegas with chilling precision. With exclusive insight from Higher Calling Wildlife's investigative reports, this episode dives deep into what may be a multi-state pattern of cruelty, fear, and silence. If you're a rancher, horse owner, or outdoor enthusiast, you won't want to miss this investigation into what might be the most underreported animal cruelty crime wave in the U.S.

This week, in Litchfield, Maine, a woman tries to make a fresh start, with a new career, in a new town, to hopefully put her troubled teen son on a better path. Unfortunately, her son continues his behavior, until Mom decides that bringing some of his old friends to their new town might help him. Within two days, there's a horrible murder, with the boys claiming a crazed stranger did it. While the real story involves a murder comic strip, murder masks, and even murder chants!! Defending a client in a murder case where the evidence, including DNA, overwhelmingly points to their guilt is highly challenging. However, a skilled lawyer might employ several strategies to provide the best possible defense. So, what sort of strategy might be used by Rex Heuermann and his team at trial? Challenging the Evidence:Chain of Custody: The lawyer might question whether the evidence was properly handled from the crime scene to the courtroom, suggesting possible contamination or tampering.Forensic Procedures: They could scrutinize the methods used to collect and analyze the DNA evidence, aiming to find procedural errors that could undermine the reliability of the results.Alternative Theories:Third-Party Culpability: The defense might suggest that someone else had access to the crime scene and could have left the DNA, presenting alternative suspects.Consent or Innocent Transfer: If applicable, the lawyer might argue that the client's DNA was present due to consensual contact or innocent transfer, rather than through criminal activity.Questioning Witness Credibility:Inconsistencies: The lawyer could highlight inconsistencies in witness testimonies or point out any reasons witnesses might have to lie or misremember events.Bias and Motive: They might argue that witnesses are biased or have motives to falsely implicate the defendant.Psychological Defense:Mental Health: The lawyer could argue that the client was suffering from a mental disorder at the time of the crime, which impaired their ability to understand their actions or differentiate between right and wrong.Diminished Capacity: They might claim that the client's mental state, though not exonerating them completely, should mitigate their culpability.Procedural Defenses:Violation of Rights: The defense could argue that the client's constitutional rights were violated during the investigation, such as through unlawful search and seizure, leading to the suppression of critical evidence.Coerced Confession: If there is a confession, the lawyer might contend it was obtained through coercion, making it inadmissible.Plea Bargaining:Reduced Charges: If the evidence is overwhelmingly against the client, the lawyer might negotiate a plea deal for lesser charges or a reduced sentence, arguing for mitigating factors like the client's lack of prior criminal history or remorse.Humanizing the Client:Character Witnesses: The defense might bring in witnesses to attest to the client's good character, arguing that the crime is out of character and presenting them in a sympathetic light. Background and Circumstances: They could present evidence about the client's background, upbringing, and circumstances that might have led to their involvement in the crime, seeking to evoke empathy from the jury.(commercial at 12:04)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Defending the Devil: Serial Killer Lawyers Speak Out on Gilgo Beach Murders - Newsweek

On July 6, 1985, Diane Suzuki disappeared. She was 19 years old. Forty years later, she remains one of Oahu's most infamous missing person cases. Thousands of people dedicated thousands of hours searching, but the case went cold, not because there wasn't a suspect, but because there wasn't enough evidence to indict him. Gary Ridgway, known as the "Green River Killer," and Rex Heuermann, suspected in the Gilgo Beach murders, share several similarities in their alleged criminal behavior and the nature of their crimes:Modus Operandi: Both Ridgway and Heuermann targeted vulnerable women, particularly sex workers, as their primary victims. This choice of victim reflects a pattern of preying on those who might be less likely to be immediately missed or reported.Location of Crimes: Ridgway operated in the Seattle and King County area of Washington, while Heuermann's suspected crimes took place on Long Island, New York. Both areas provided a certain degree of anonymity and opportunity to dispose of bodies in remote or less trafficked areas.Duration and Secrecy: Ridgway's killings spanned several decades (1980s to early 2000s), and he managed to evade capture for a long time. Similarly, the Gilgo Beach murders remained unsolved for years before Heuermann became a suspect, indicating a prolonged period of eluding law enforcement.Normal Appearance and Lifestyle: Both men maintained outwardly normal lives that masked their alleged criminal activities. Ridgway was a married man with a steady job as a truck painter, while Heuermann is described as an architect living a seemingly typical suburban life.Investigation and Capture: Advances in forensic technology played a crucial role in their eventual capture. Ridgway was apprehended after DNA evidence linked him to the murders, while Heuermann's connection to the crimes also involved significant forensic evidence, including DNA.Psychological Traits: Both individuals exhibited traits often associated with serial killers, such as a lack of empathy, ability to compartmentalize their lives, and an apparent ability to blend into society despite their heinous activities.(commercial at 10:33)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Rex Heuermann's Alleged Murder Profile Mirrors Green River Killer: Expert - Newsweek
An organized serial killer is a type of serial killer who exhibits a high degree of planning, control, and premeditation when committing their crimes. Unlike disorganized serial killers, who tend to act impulsively and leave chaotic crime scenes, organized serial killers are methodical and strategic in their approach, making it challenging for law enforcement to apprehend them.Key characteristics of an organized serial killer include:Methodical planning: Organized serial killers carefully select their victims, often based on specific criteria such as appearance, occupation, or vulnerability. They may stalk potential victims to learn their routines and habits before carrying out the murders.Controlled crime scenes: These killers go to great lengths to minimize evidence left behind at the crime scenes. They may bring tools, restraints, or other items to help facilitate the killings and dispose of evidence thoroughly.High intelligence and social skills: Organized serial killers often have above-average intelligence and can be charming and manipulative. This enables them to gain the trust of their victims, making it easier for them to lure them into dangerous situations.Lack of remorse: Organized serial killers typically show little to no remorse for their actions and may even take pleasure in the suffering of their victims.Cooling-off periods: After each murder, organized serial killers usually experience a "cooling-off" period where they maintain a relatively normal appearance and behavior. This period allows them to avoid suspicion and plan their next attack without drawing attention to themselves.Often follow media coverage: Organized serial killers may closely follow news reports and police investigations related to their crimes, sometimes even involving themselves in the investigation to elude capture.Long-lasting crime sprees: Due to their calculated and organized nature, these killers may continue their crime sprees for extended periods before being caught or stopped. In this epsiode, we hear from several experts who explain what makes a serial killer and some of the basci psyche that goes into how a profile is built when investigating serial murders. May, 1985. Two days before her high school graduation, Shari Faye Smith was abducted from her parents' driveway in broad daylight. Her kidnapper taunted Shari's family by phone for days, calling in the middle of the night and revealing bone-chilling details of his crime. With little evidence to go on, South Carolina investigators brought in FBI criminal profiler John Douglas and his colleagues, who used the recorded phone calls to create a profile of their UNSUB. About 2 weeks later, 9-year-old Debra May Helmick was kidnapped in a similar manner. When both girls turned up dead, investigators realized they had a probable serial killer on their hands – and they needed to find him before he could strike again. In the late 1970's, a series of bizarre, racist murders rocked the United States. And for years, no one had any idea who was carrying them out. Was it the Ku Klux Klan? White supremacists? Or something darker. However, when the truth began to come out, the story took a darker turn than you possibly could have imagined... - Listen to our new show, "THE CONSPIRACY FILES"!: -Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/5IY9nWD2MYDzlSYP48nRPl -Apple Podcasts - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-conspiracy-files/id1752719844 -Amazon/Audible - https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/ab1ade99-740c-46ae-8028-b2cf41eabf58/the-conspiracy-files -Pandora - https://www.pandora.com/podcast/the-conspiracy-files/PC:1001089101 -iHeart - https://iheart.com/podcast/186907423/ -PocketCast - https://pca.st/dpdyrcca -CastBox - https://castbox.fm/channel/id6193084?country=us - Stay Connected: Join the Murder in America fam in our free Facebook Community for a behind-the-scenes look, more insights and current events in the true crime world: https://www.facebook.com/groups/4365229996855701 If you want even more Murder in America bonus content, including ad-free episodes, come join us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/murderinamerica Instagram: http://instagram.com/murderinamerica/ Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/people/Murder-in-America-Podcast/100086268848682/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MurderInAmerica TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@theparanormalfiles and https://www.tiktok.com/@courtneybrowen Feeling spooky?
