Liverpool moved seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table thanks to a hard-fought 2-1 win over Wolves at Anfield. Arne Slot's side looked set for a comfortable afternoon when they raced into a two-goal lead thanks to Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah. However, Matheus Cunha set up a nervy finish in netting during a second half that the visitors completely dominated before ultimately being denied a share of the spoils. And Reds reporter David Lynch was impressed by the battling qualities shown by the hosts en route to a valuable three points. Here, he picks out Wataru Endo and Jarell Quansah as key, while the impact of victory on Liverpool's title rivals is also discussed. Liverpool claimed a place in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup as they beat Southampton 2-1 at St Mary's on Wednesday evening. Arne Slot's men seemed to be cruising to victory after carving out a two-goal lead early in the first half through Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott. But they were made to work their win after Cameron Archer pulled one back with just over half an hour remaining. Still, Reds reporter David Lynch felt there was plenty to be positive about after a much-changed side set up yet another League Cup semi appearance. Here, he praises Slot's use of an unusual system for that, while Wataru Endo and Harvey Elliott are both also credited. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Renowned LFC banner-maker Mark Sweatman (@KopCraftsman) has been having problems with the club lately concerning his ability to bring his flags into the stadium. Mark attempted to bring a Wataru Endo banner to a game last season and was told that the flag was 'nationalist'. After an apology from the club he is still unable to bring his banners into the ground despite doing so for the 7 years previous. He believes this is due to his understandable unwillingness to let the first incident go easily and is looking for the club to once again allow access for his banners as they did in the past.Head to handmadebanners.co.uk for details on Mark's many banners.Watch the documentary we made about Mark on RedmenTV 2 now: https://youtu.be/iKqjGfI9n7sSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/redmentv. Jurgen Klopp dropped a Mohamed Salah replacement hint as Liverpool start the month with a double January dilemma. Klopp has joked that he hopes Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo suffer premature international exits when pondering how to replace both players in his Liverpool starting XI. The pair both started in the Reds' 4-2 victory over Newcastle United on New Year's Day, but they will now likely be unavailable for Liverpool for over a month as they depart to represent Egypt and Japan in the African Cup of Nations and Asian Cup respectively. While Salah is unavailable, the rest of Liverpool's attacking options are ready for action after the Reds recently welcomed back Diogo Jota from a hamstring injury. With Harvey Elliott also an option, Klopp hinted how he intends to replace the Egyptian this month. In this week's Blood Red Podcast, Host Beth Lindop is joined by Theo Squires and Paul Gorst to discuss the up and coming FA Cup tie against Arsenal and what plans Klopp has for the January transfer window.
