In this episode of the 77 Club, the team reflects on Wolves' 2-0 home defeat to Brighton, marking their second consecutive loss and dampening the momentum built under Vítor Pereira. While some on the panel felt Wolves put in a reasonable performance, others thought the game lacked energy and clinical finishing. The absence of motivation, now that Premier League survival is secured, seemed evident, with Brighton having more to play for. There was also surprise at Aguirre's inclusion in the starting XI, interpreted as a last-chance opportunity to prove himself. A large chunk of the discussion focused on Rayan Aït-Nouri's future. The news that he has left Jorge Mendes' agency sparked speculation about an imminent summer move. While some fans on the panel stressed how crucial he is to the current system—highlighting his flair, improvement, and consistent performances—others questioned his defensive reliability. There's general concern about Wolves losing too many key players in the upcoming transfer window, especially with Cunha likely departing. The podcast also covered early transfer rumours, including interest in Argentinian striker Joaquín Panichelli, and stressed the importance of smart reinvestment. Away from the first team, the hosts welcomed the club's renewed public commitment to Wolves Women after previous criticism for not applying for a Tier 2 license. They also dipped into wider football topics like the Championship playoffs, the rise of Wrexham, and the long-term risks of constantly selling star players. While the tone remained light and humorous—complete with an unexpected chess tangent—there was a clear desire for Wolves to push on next season rather than regress. Learn more about your ad choices. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

(1:40) The Future of Data Science: Steve Nouri, Founder of GenAI Works (an 8-million-strong community!) and AI for Diversity, discusses the impact of GenAI on data science roles, the ethical considerations of AI, and exciting trends like embodied AI and agentic AI. (29:36) Data Engineering in the Age of AI: Joe Reis, author of "Fundamentals of Data Engineering" and the upcoming "Mixed Model Arts," provides his expert perspective on the importance of data modeling, the need for upskilling in data teams, and the potential for a universal semantic layer. (1:00:00) Key Quotes:“I would predict that there's going to be a number of big acquisitions in our general space in 2025. This whole tension between the public markets doing very well, especially in tech, but the private markets still recovering - I think lends itself well to a wave of consolidation.” - Matt Turck“Anything that requires democratization, I'm a big fan of. And certainly, the ability to query natural language databases and all things, making that available to everyone is a very powerful idea. You guys at ThoughtSpot know this better than anyone.” - Matt Turck“We are seeing people doing less coding, more relying on their co-pilots. It's going to evolve to become more and more robust. So we will be relying more on AI to do the coding.” - Steve Nouri“Well, that's what, you know, the tagline is, AI will do everything for you. It'll even do your laundry, the jobs that we don't like. And so you're actually saying you see a future where that actually is not too far off.” - Steve Nouri“I think that there's definitely a FOMO and a bit of a prisoner's dilemma problem with adopting AI in the organization because they're getting a lot of pressure from the top down, especially to do AI. Understanding what that means to your organization should be table stakes.” - Joe Reis“Learning never stops, investment never stops. And the best investment you can make is always improving yourself, no matter what that looks like.” Joe ReisMentions:FirstMark MAD Landscape 2024The MAD Podcast with Matt TurckAI4DiversityGenAI.WorksFundamentals of Data EngineeringJoe Reis Substack Guest Bios:Matt Turck is a Partner at FirstMark, where he focuses primarily on early-stage enterprise investing in the US and Europe. Interviewer Lisa Meeks Interviewees John Ruddell Jennifer Ruddell Roja (friend of Jack Ruddell) Dr. Christine Moutier Dr. Jessi Gold Narrator Dr. Joseph Murray Description In this deeply moving episode, host Lisa Meeks introduces a special series dedicated to exploring the mental health crisis among medical trainees, with a focus on the tragic story of Dr. Jack Ruddell. Joined by Jack's parents, John and Jennifer Ruddell, and his close friend Roja, we delve into Jack's life, his struggles with depression and anxiety, and the immense pressures faced by medical students. Dr. Joseph Murray, a psychiatrist at Weill Cornell Medical College, provides expert insights into the high rates of burnout, depression, and suicide in the medical field. We also hear from Dr. Christine Moutier, Chief Medical Officer of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and Dr. Jessie Gold, a respected psychiatrist and author, who discuss the unique challenges and cultural issues within medical training that contribute to mental health struggles. This episode aims to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues, encourage medical learners to seek help, and advocate for systemic changes in medical education to foster a more supportive and compassionate environment. Description of Series DWDI Special Series: Suicidality in Medical Training dives into the critical conversations around mental health, well-being, support systems, and the intense pressures faced during medical training. Through the power of storytelling, the series intertwines these broader themes with the deeply personal story of Dr. Jack Ruddell, a promising medical student who died by suicide. Jack's journey—his strengths, struggles, and the complexities leading to his untimely death—forms the emotional core of this five-part series, giving voice to the loved ones often excluded from these conversations. Alongside Jack's story, the series incorporates expert insights and data from the literature, offering a human perspective on burnout, depression, and suicide among medical trainees. With a commitment to improving mental health awareness and reducing the stigma around seeking help, the series presents a novel approach by centering personal narratives alongside expert analysis. It also explores actionable strategies for improving medical training environments and highlights the importance of institutional responses after a loss by suicide. Our mission is to reduce shame, encourage help-seeking among medical students struggling with depression, and ensure that every medical school is aware of the postvention resources offered by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). The match between Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers concluded in a 1-1 draw, reflecting a game that was described as even, with moments of entertainment interspersed with periods that felt like a grind. Here's a detailed overview based on the sentiments and observations from X posts: Match Dynamics: The game was characterized by its stop-start nature, partly due to the referee's decisions which didn't seem to favour a smooth flow. Wolves appeared content with securing a point, especially considering their defensive vulnerabilities noted at halftime. Nottingham Forest, on the other hand, showed moments of dominance but also frustration, particularly with a disallowed goal and missed opportunities. Key Moments and Performances: Nottingham Forest: Chris Wood's goal was pivotal for Forest, proving once again his importance in front of goal. The team's performance was highlighted by some slick passing and good link-ups across the pitch. Murillo was singled out for an "insanely good" performance, suggesting a strong defensive display from him despite the team's general defensive lapses. The team's set pieces were notably taken by E. Anderson and Elanga, indicating tactical choices in dead ball situations. Wolverhampton Wanderers: Wolves managed to equalize through Bellegarde, with an assist from Mario Jr., showing their capability to threaten on the counter or through set plays. However, their overall performance was described as quiet with the exception of some early chances, particularly from Nouri who played very advanced. The team's pressing and quick transitions were noted in earlier games, suggesting a style that could disrupt opponents but didn't fully materialize in this match. Tactical Insights: Wolves seemed to adopt a more cautious approach, possibly due to their early season form where securing points might be prioritized over chasing wins. Forest, while showing attacking intent, struggled with converting chances into goals, which could be a recurring theme they need to address. Fan and Analyst Sentiment: There was a mix of satisfaction and frustration among Forest fans, with the clean sheet being a positive despite the draw. Wolves fans and analysts might see this result as a step in the right direction, especially if they were looking to stabilize after previous games where they looked open at the back. Overall: The match was a tactical battle with both teams showing moments of quality but also revealing areas for improvement, particularly in defence for Wolves and in clinical finishing for Forest. The draw might be seen as a fair result given the ebb and flow of the game, with neither team able to assert complete dominance. #nffc #wolves #premierleague Learn more about your ad choices.
