All Things For Good | Romans 8:28 | Funeral for +Sally Swords+What does it really mean when Scripture says that “all things work together for good”? Does that mean everything that happens is good? Does it mean suffering is secretly a blessing? And what do you do when life gives you something that does not look good at all?In this funeral sermon on Romans 8:28, Pastor Rojas reflects on one of the most comforting, and most difficult, promises in all of Scripture. What did Paul mean when he said “all things”? Does that include sickness? Dementia? Grief? Loss? Death? And what does “good” mean? A better life? Less pain? An answered prayer? Or is God promising something much greater than temporary relief? How can Christians say “we know” when there is so much we do not understand? What do we actually know when we cannot explain why God allowed something to happen? And where should we look when we are tempted to wonder whether God has forgotten us?The answer is not found in charts, explanations, or attempts to connect every painful dot in our lives. It is found somewhere else entirely. And what changes when faith finally gives way to sight?Subscribe & Share if this sermon strengthened your faith.

Why Do We Talk About Death So Much? | Luke 7:11-17 | Trinity 16

Luke 7:11–17 | Why Do We Talk About Death So Much? Why does the Church talk about death so much? Why do Christian hymns, sermons, and prayers keep returning to something most people would rather avoid? Is Christianity unusually preoccupied with death, or is there a reason the Bible refuses to look away from it?In this sermon on Luke 7:11–17, Pastor Rojas reflects on the reality of death, the grief it causes, and the comfort Jesus gives to those who mourn. At the gate of Nain, two processions meet: one following Jesus, the Lord of Life, and the other following a dead man, the only son of a grieving widow. Why does Jesus tell this woman, “Do not weep”? Why can He say something that would sound cruel coming from almost anyone else? What does it mean that Jesus sees her before she ever asks Him for help? And what does His compassion reveal about the way He looks at us in our own sorrow? Why does Luke make a point of saying that Jesus “gave him to his mother”? Why is that simple sentence so important? What does this account teach us about grief, resurrection, and the Christian hope for those we love who have died in the Lord? This sermon examines why Christians do not need to ignore death, soften it, or learn to become comfortable with it, and why even the darkest reality of human life can become a place of profound comfort when Jesus Christ stands in the middle of it.Subscribe & Share if this sermon strengthened your faith.

Twenty-five years later, Paul Rieckhoff finally tells his own 9/11 story in full. Sitting at Ground Zero with Fox Business correspondent Connell McShane, Paul walks through the days he'd quit his Wall Street job, linked up with fellow New York National Guardsmen, and searched the shattered bottom of the Winter Garden while truck horns signaled another possible collapse. It is the worst thing he has ever seen. It is also, he says, the most beautiful — because of the unity, the volunteers, the fire crew from Arkansas that just got in the rig and started driving. Retired combat pilot Glenn Ignazio joins from the other side of the world he was on that day, in a wartime footing on the Iraqi border when the second plane hit. This is not a forever-wars episode. That conversation matters, and this show has it constantly. Today is about service, sacrifice, and the spirit that made a generation raise their hand. It's about Wells Crowther and the red bandana. Matthew 6:24–34What makes you feel safe? How much money would need to be in the bank before you could finally relax? What would the doctor need to say? What would need to change in your family? What would tomorrow have to look like before you could finally say, “Everything is going to be okay”?In this sermon on Matthew 6:24–34, Pastor Rojas reflects on Jesus' words about worry, little faith, the birds of the air, and the lilies of the field. Why does Jesus connect anxiety with “little faith”? Can you believe in God and still struggle to trust Him? Can your faith feel strong while your heart is quietly depending on something else for peace? What does your worry reveal about what you actually trust? What has to happen before your heart can rest? Why does Jesus tell anxious people to look at birds and study flowers? Why does He remind His disciples that their heavenly Father already knows what they need? And what does Jesus mean when He says to “seek first the kingdom of God”? Why does He describe food, clothing, money, and security as things that will simply be “added”? What happens when those added things become the main things? And what happens when good gifts from God quietly become the things we depend on to feel safe? Can you plan without trusting your plan? Save without trusting your savings? Seek treatment without making good test results the source of your peace? What does strong faith actually look like when life feels uncertain? This sermon examines worry as a diagnostic of faith, the difference between believing in God and trusting God, and the deeper question underneath so much of our anxiety: What do you need to feel safe?Subscribe & Share if this sermon strengthened your faith.

Luke 17:11–19 | The Hidden Danger of Getting What You WantCan getting exactly what you prayed for actually become dangerous to your faith? Why did ten lepers cry out to Jesus for mercy, but only one return after being healed? Why do we often pray more when life is falling apart than when everything is going well? And what happens when you finally start thinking you don't need God quite as much anymore? In this sermon on Luke 17:11–19, Pastor Rojas reflects on the strange danger that comes not only with suffering, but with prosperity. Israel faced it when they entered the Promised Land. The ten lepers faced it when Jesus restored everything they had lost. And we face it whenever the crisis passes, the prayer is answered, and life starts going our way.Why is it sometimes easier to remember God when you're desperate? What if the diagnosis disappears, the marriage improves, the money comes in, the anxiety lifts, or life finally becomes comfortable? Would you actually pray more? Read Scripture more? Listen more closely to God's Word? Or would you slowly begin living as though you no longer needed Him?What was different about the one leper who returned? Why does Jesus tell him, “Your faith has saved you”? Was he saved because he remembered to say thank you? What does thanksgiving actually reveal about faith? And what did he find at Jesus' feet that the other nine missed? This sermon examines the hidden spiritual danger of getting what you want, the difference between being thankful for something and thankful to Someone, and why both suffering and prosperity should drive us to the same place: back to Jesus.Subscribe & Share if this sermon strengthened your faith.

Whether you’re an advisor with river-bound clients, or if you’re a traveler yourself, a river cruise is likely is just part of a multicomponent trip with pre- and post-cruise tours or city stays known as extensions. Extension options are getting more and more complex, with travelers adding on not just more extensive options from the river cruise lines but tours from third-party operators or a bespoke land trip. In this episode tours and river cruise editor Brinley Hineman and Angela Hughes, CEO of Trips & Ships Luxury Travel in Winter Garden, Fla., talk about the options and where river-bound travelers are headed, whether it’s better to add a pre- or post-trip tour and how to position a longer European vacation. Mark 6:14–29 | Martyrdom of St. John the BaptistWhy did Herod keep listening to John the Baptist if John's preaching troubled him so deeply? Why do we gladly hear sermons about other people's sins, but become defensive when the Word turns toward us? And what should we do when a sermon makes us uncomfortable? In this sermon for the Martyrdom of St. John the Baptist, Pastor Rojas reflects on Herod's strange response to John: he feared him, protected him, was perplexed by him, and yet kept listening gladly. The problem wasn't that Herod hated preaching. He loved preaching, until the sermon confronted the sin he refused to give up. The same danger faces us. We can admire faithful preaching, listen to endless sermons and podcasts, and still avoid repentance by surrounding ourselves only with voices that tell us what we want to hear.So what do you do when God's Word exposes your sin? Repent. Not by punishing yourself or earning your way back to God, but by stopping your excuses, confessing the truth, and running to Christ.John preached repentance because Christ had come. The same Word that exposes your sin points you to the Lamb of God who takes it away. Jesus carried every sin the sermon uncovers to the cross, died for it, and rose again to give you forgiveness, resurrection, and everlasting life.Subscribe & Share if this sermon strengthened your faith.

What Does It Cost To Join The Church? | John 1:43–51 | St. BartholomewWhat does it cost to become a Christian? Nothing. And what is the Gospel worth? Everything. In this sermon for the Feast of St. Bartholomew, Pastor Rojas reflects on Nathanael's call to “come and see.” Jesus knew Nathanael before Nathanael knew Him, and He promised something greater: heaven opened through the Son of Man.The same is true for us. Christ sees our sin completely, yet loves us completely. He paid the infinite price for our salvation through His death and resurrection. The Gospel costs us nothing because Jesus paid everything.Bartholomew later gave his life for this confession, not to earn salvation, but because Christ was worth more than life itself. The world may take everything from us, but if we have Christ, we still have more than everything.Subscribe & Share if this sermon strengthened your faith.

What's The Point Of Going To Church? | Psalm 50 | Trinity 11Why do you come to church—what do you expect happens when you walk through the doors? In this sermon for Trinity 11, Pastor Rojas reflects on Psalm 50 and presses a simple but searching question: is worship about what we give to God, or about what God gives to us?Psalm 50 first speaks a hard word of Law: God exposes the lie that He is served by human effort. He does not need our money, praise, sacrifice, or religious performance. Everything already belongs to Him, and no offering can put Him in His debt. The Law strips away every attempt to approach God on the basis of what we bring. But then the Psalm turns us from ourselves to God's promise. The Gospel is this: God Himself provides what He demands. “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you.” In Christ, God is not the receiver of our worship but the giver of salvation. He delivers sinners who have nothing to offer, and He gives them everything in His Son—forgiveness, life, and rescue from death. That is the order of true worship in the Divine Service: God gives, and faith receives. Christ comes to sinners through His Word and Sacraments and freely bestows His Body and Blood for the forgiveness of sins. Worship is not our attempt to reach God, but God's coming down to us in mercy. And when your final hour comes, the Law will not comfort you with your works, but the Gospel will. Your hope will not rest on whether you did enough, served enough, or gave enough to God. It will rest entirely on what God has given you in His Son. Christ's obedience is enough. His blood is enough. His death and resurrection are enough.Subscribe & Share if this sermon strengthened your faith.

2 Timothy 4:7–8 | Funeral Sermon for William “Bill” SchmidtIn this funeral sermon for William “Bill” Schmidt, Pastor Rojas reflects on St. Paul's words: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Bill's family knew him as a fighter. He endured hardship, sacrificed for his family, and through it all held fast to Christ. But Bill's fight wasn't what saved him. Jesus fought the greater fight. He faced sin, death, and the devil, went all the way to the cross, and shed His blood for our forgiveness. We hold onto Christ only because Christ first laid hold of us.That truth became especially visible in Bill's final days. Even as dementia took away memories and words, he could still pray the Lord's Prayer. And when his family came to him, they found him clutching a crucifix so tightly that it had left an imprint in his hand. His hand held the crucifix because his heart held the Crucified One. More importantly, Christ was holding him.Now Bill's fight is finished. Faith has become sight. Hope has become fulfillment. He rests with Christ, awaiting the resurrection of the body and the crown of righteousness promised to all who love Christ's appearing.Subscribe & Share if this sermon strengthened your faith.

Luke 19:41–48 | Does Actually God Want the Temple Rebuilt? In this sermon for the Tenth Sunday after Trinity, Pastor Rojas asks a question at the heart of modern Christian Zionism: Does God actually want the Temple in Jerusalem rebuilt?Jesus' answer is no. The Temple, sacrifices, priesthood, and altar all pointed to Christ. Jesus is the true Temple, the Lamb of God, and our great High Priest. The shadows have given way to the reality.Jerusalem's deeper problem was that when God visited them, they didn't recognize Him. They wanted political victory and earthly glory. God gave them a King on a donkey and a Savior on a cross. We make the same mistake whenever we decide what God must fix before we'll believe He is with us.But you don't have to wait for something to happen in Jerusalem. God has already come to you in Christ. He forgives you, dwells with you, and gives Himself to you. Even when your health, strength, and life are taken away, Christ is still yours. The Sacrifice has been made. The curtain is torn. Your sins are forgiven. God dwells with you. Proverbs 31:10-31 | Wedding SermonIn this wedding sermon for Kaibo and Sarah, Pastor Rojas walks through Proverbs 31 as what it actually is: the final word of a book that has spent thirty chapters training a son's eyes toward true wisdom—not a scorecard for wives, but an oracle taught to a king by his own mother, an acrostic poem, A to Z, pointing to a woman whose strength, generosity, and fearlessness all flow from one root: the fear of the Lord. But the question “who can find her” doesn't stop with marriage. It reaches all the way to the cross. Because none of us can earn our way into being found — not by a spouse, and not by God. We are found. Christ himself spent his life seeking a bride who could never make herself worthy, and he paid for her with his own blood. Every ounce of value you have was set not by what you've done, but by what he was willing to pay. This sermon is for anyone getting married, anyone already married, and anyone who has ever wondered whether they're loved because they're good enough — or because Someone decided they were worth everything, long before they had anything to offer.Subscribe & Share if this sermon strengthened your faith.

The Folo by Travel Weekly
River cruise passengers are adding on extensive land trips

The Folo by Travel Weekly

With Europe summer travel in full swing, it’s a good time to talk about building a river cruise vacation. Whether you’re an advisor with river-bound clients, or if you’re a traveler yourself, the cruise is likely is just part of a multicomponent trip with pre- and post-cruise tours or city stays known as extensions. The extensions business is getting more and more complex, with travelers adding on not just more extensive options from the river cruise lines but tours from third-party operators or a bespoke land trip. And while we’re at it, the in-cruise experience is getting more bespoke, too. This episode was recorded June 26 and has been edited for length and clarity. How Good Is Good Enough? | Christ For YouMatthew 5:20-26 | Trinity 6How good is good enough to get into heaven? Is it enough to be a good person? To keep the Ten Commandments? To be better than average? That's what millions of people believe. But what if Jesus says even the most outwardly righteous people who ever lived weren't good enough? In this Trinity 6 sermon, Pastor Rojas walks through Jesus' shocking words from the Sermon on the Mount and shows that the Fifth Commandment was never merely about murder, but about the heart. Jesus exposes the impossible standard of God's Law, leaving every sinner without excuse and every self-righteous hope shattered. But He doesn't leave us there.Jesus did not come merely to teach the Law. He came to fulfill it. Every commandment He kept, He kept in your place. Every act of perfect obedience was rendered on your behalf. His death forgives your sins, and His perfect righteousness is given to you as a free gift through faith. If your death should come tomorrow, your eternal life does not depend on the life you lived, but on the life Christ lived for you.If you have ever wondered, “How good do I actually have to be to get into heaven?” this sermon has the answer. And that answer is not found in you. It is found in Jesus Christ, your righteousness.Subscribe & Share if this sermon strengthened your faith.

FIFA, Balogun, and the Trump Jinx. July 4/America 250/Independents Day Reflections.  It's America 250 week, the World Cup has swept through New York, and tonight Team USA plays Belgium in what host Paul Rieckhoff calls the biggest US soccer match in his lifetime. Naturally, Donald Trump has already elbowed his way into the story — publicly pressuring FIFA over Folarin Balogun's red card, then taking credit for the reversal, and floating that if the US loses, the match might be rigged. Paul draws the contrast that matters: a young Brooklyn-born striker handling injustice with grace versus an authoritarian president trying to suck the oxygen out of a rare unifying moment.  From the Winter Garden next to Ground Zero to open-primary petitioners sweating it out in the New York heat, this solo briefing connects the World Cup to something bigger — the fight for an America that still belongs to its people, not its parties. Paul breaks down the Patriot Front march in DC, Russia's continued assault on Kyiv, the 3.9 million veterans locked out of closed primaries, and the 46,000 petition signatures that just landed open primaries on the New York ballot this fall. It's a no-BS reminder that even when the president is doing his worst, the country is doing some of its best work. -WATCH full video of this episode here. -Millions of American veterans are being locked out of primary elections in the country they served.
